Our ADR window opens next weekend, and I am trying to get everything in order. We are doing mostly character dining due to having little guys, but DH and I want to have one "semi-adult" meal in WS. I am leaning towards San Angel Inn. I have always LOVED the look of it but we have never eaten there. We are all big fans of Mexican food and Mommy and Daddy are fans of margaritas, too. ;) Have you eaten there and, if so, did you love it? Any caveats? I'll be so glad when next Saturday is over and I can stop obsessing about ADRs and move on to obsessing about the next thing! :cutie:

I have eaten there on every trip I've been on. I love it!!!! The atmosphere is so nice, especially if you are closer to the railing that overlooks the ride. The food is delicious and the margaritas....well lets just say they are strong lol. I would definitely recommend eating there....enjoy:thumbsup2!

My DW and I love San Angel Inn and it's on our must do list every year. We don't have little ones. However, the restaurant's setting is beautiful and makes a fascinating background with the Mayan temple and volcano. Boats from the Gran Fiesta Tour are also floating by.

The thing to remember about SAI is... It isn't Tex-Mex or American Southwest style cuisine. It's Mexico City based and not exactly the same as most Americans think of as typical Mexican food. Unfortunately, this disappoints some people even though it's more authentic than what they're used to having.

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.

My husband and I absolutely love it! The setting is, as you know, fantastic and quite romantic (at least we think so!). When we take our son next year, we are definitely planning on doing San Angel Inn again...we think he will really enjoy seeing the boats, pyramid and volcano. It gets a lot of bad reviews on this site for some reason, but we thought the food was great. And not just by Disney standards--by any standards! Then again, we weren't looking for a #6 combo with a burrito grande and a beef enchilada. ;) The service was also really attentive, and we enjoyed talking with our waiter.

I'm glad to see that so many folks have noticed that SAI is much better than it used to be. If this question had been asked about four years ago, you would have gotten mostly negative reactions. But it's much-improved.

Hi
We had a delicious lunch there in May. I ask for cheese enchiladas since I don't eat meat and they were great. Everyone loved their lunch. The margaritas are pretty strong and really good. The atmosphere is the best. We really enjoyed it there. Have a great time.

We also really enjoy San Angel Inn. As a PP mentioned, if you enjoy margaritas be sure to order from La Cava.... we didn't even have to go over there. Our waitress took our order and did it for us.... my personal favorite is the avocado margarita. :lovestruc

Ooh I'm so excited to see so may good things said about SAI, since we're trying this for the first time next week. Everyone in my family, except DH, is a little on the picky side so I'm hoping we like it.

The ambience in this restaurant is the best in WDW. Ask for a railing table. You may have to wait, but well worth it. When we ate here last December, we ordered our food and it arrived in less than 10 minutes.... a little quick for my liking, but I love this place. Enjoy!

I agree. The food was good, but not what we were used to so it was a little more difficult deciding what to have.

And the margaritas are very, very strong!! Made for an interesting Gran Fiesta ride! :lmao:

This is a must do for us as well!! This is the first restaurant that we visit at Epcot to get our trip started. My Hubby wouldn't have it any other way. We just love the atmosphere and the food was the best we have ever eaten there!! Enjoy!!

Dissenting opinion here. While the atmosphere may be romantic, at least a first, the food and service isn't good. Add to that, that the tables are packed in so close to each other that you have to take turns breathing and the romantic aspect quickly dissolves. If you're after mexican food, head for La Hacienda (the sit-down place) instead.

We ate there about 3 weeks ago and it was our favorite TS ADR of our entire trip as far as food & service. We loved everything we got. The carne asada was fantastic, as was the pollo rajas.

There are 2 negatives IMO to SAI. It is very dark. Like dark enough I had a hard time reading the menu, dark. The other issue is that the tables were extremely close together. If I leaned 8 inches to the right, I would have bumped the person at the next table. Seriously. So if you're looking for a nice, romantic restaurant, this might not be it.

Those 2 negatives aside, I'd highly recommend SAI if you like authentic Mexico City style food. :goodvibes

One of our favorite restaurants ever, not just in WDW. The whole place is stunning and a true experiance. Service was excellant as well. And the FOOD! Everything we ate was delicious! 100% recommended, you'll love it!

We just went to San Angel Inn for the first time and I thought it was good. Now let me tell you that I was raised in Mexico City and my father's favourite restaurant was San Angel Inn in Mexico City ( which is a five stars High Cuisine restaurant). I was hoping to experience the same cuisine but it is more like an average pseudo-Mexican restaurant. The food is good but not compared to the original in Mexico city. The ambience is perfect except for the active volcano on the back I don't remember ever seeing and active volcano like that in Mexico but I have to say that the atmosphere and the margaritas are excellent oh and the service was top notch too.
