Tell me about Princess Fantasy Faire!

Also, the breakfast at Ariel's Grotto is still on if you'd rather do that than lunch

Do any of you know if the PFF changes during the slow season with only 2 princesses, or is it always 3? Is this also part of MM or only a chance to wait in line an extra hour before they open. Can you ask who will be there before getting in line?

I really appreciate all of the information so far. I have one daughter that must meet Aurora or she may just *die* the other wants to meet Snow White, but she rolls with the punches much better. If there is little chance of meeting them, I had better start preparing my girls now.

Pamb

We were there during the slower season, early December, and it was 3 princesses.

It doesn't matter who is in there when you get in line, because they are switched out often. While we were in line, at least two princesses were swapped, b/c Cinderella left and Mulan was changed out for Pocahontas. There's just no way to know who is in there, as far as I know.

It is not part of MM, in fact I think the PFF doesn't even open until an hour or so after the park opens. We were there in the early afternoon, so I don't know what the line-up looks like before it opens.

With TWO girls who want to meet specific ones, I might try eating at Ariel's...but still, I've heard they aren't all always there...but at least you are in the restaurant for longer than you're actually with the princesses at PFF.

(read on for more info outside of the meeting line)

but I just need to clear up some questions for a friend of mine. She`s going in 3 wks with her ds5 and dd4, and DD is, of course, beside herself with excitement about meeting the princesses.
So how does PFF actually work (sorry - punctuation on computer doing funny things - can`t make question mark work!!) Do you wait outside in the line to get in, then wait in separate lines once inside for all the different `events` such as the storytelling and interaction with the princesses
:confused3 :confused3 sorry - she`s asking me how all this works (cause I am major research queen) and I can`t help her, cause I confused too!

Any help would be appreciated, and sorry for threadjacking your thread, twinpluscade!

I don't know what the area looks like when it first opens.

But when we were there, the only line, with ropes and such, was for the meeting with princesses. It's the typical queue-up with a big wall separating the line from the princesses. Then you reach the CM at the front of the line, and he keeps you occupied, then when it's time you're allowed around the corner.

But the other things, in our experience, there was no actual line. The coronation ceremony seems to be held on the stage further into the Faire than the meeting is held, and there are bleachers set up for that. But down on the floor in front of the stage is the little area to the side for the storytelling. Storytelling happens more often than the coronation, I believe (there are schedules on a sign before the stairs down to the stage area), and when we were there it was really low-key. They have little round carpets to sit on; the older kids sat by themselves while their parents relaxed in the bleachers, and the younger kids had a parent or two with them.

This angle is from where we were specially sat for DS to dance with her, but you can see a bit of the area where the princess told her story from, you can see the people watching the storytelling, and you can see the set up on the stage where the coronation ceremony is held:

Here's more of the storytelling throne (and you can see the lady in waiting that asked DS to dance with Aurora):

As far as the crafts area, I think that was to the left of the queue to meet the princesses, before you got to the stairs to the stage area. Over there is also the food place (where as Hound, I believe, just found out sells bratwurst, LOL).

Over far to the right of the meeting queue is the shop area where you can buy princess dresses, and, I hear, have a little makeover done (for a fee). :)

With imagination, you can look sort of beyond DS, ignoring DH who got in the picture somehow, and see the path through the princesses. Minnie was the last, and in this shot the photographer is at the end of the path looking towards the front. Just gives you an idea of what it's like back there.

They had a photopass photgrapher for each of the princesses, so I didn't take any pix of my own, otherwise I would have done more shots of the surroundings.

Thanks Molly and Keeperofzoo!
That explains a lot - will print out this thread and hand over to my friend - she was dismayed to learn that the princesses aren`t really `free range`anymore - kind of spoils the magic when you can`t just happen across one in your daily walking....

Free the Princesses!!

Free range princesses, :rotfl:

I don't have many opinions on characters, since I could do without them entirely (as I child I was very frightened of them, and now I simply tolerate them for DS), but I, um, kinda like 'em all over in one place. I don't have much luck for running into whatever I want to see, so the free range aspect bugs me, since I rarely find what I want to find. And I won't wait for them if they are free range, since characters tend to leave when we're 2 away from meeting them. :confused3

But it would be very funny to wear a shirt like that.....:goodvibes

Americanitgirl ~
Love the "Free the Princesses" design you made! LOL They really do need to let those sweet pretties out for some fresh air and a walk every now and then!! Get them out of that PFF theatre!!!!
I grew up in FL and went to WDW all the time. Back then, tons of characters were "free range" and it was so magical to just bump into them or see them on the carousel, etc.
Yes, we can start a club . . . "People for Princesses" . . . princess:

Thank you AmericanItGirl I liked your club name so much
check out my profile message....

So, if we're visiting June 16-18 and don't want to spend an extra time in line it would be best if we eat at Aeriel's? Is the menu the same for lunch and dinner? Does anyone know the cost of the meals or is it a buffet?

Thanks,
Lulu

You can find some info on the food and price here: http://allearsnet.com/dlr/din/menu/men_ag.htm

You can also find the restaurant on dlresortinfo dot com, but direct links there aren't allowed on the Dis.

We're having breakfast there on DS's birthday, which is going to be spendy (by the way did anyone else get quoted the cost with tax and gratuity when they called to make a b'fast PS???) but hey, it's food + the princesses he wants to meet again, and it's his b'day, so we figured "why not". :)

Okay, I don't think this was there when i used to be an AP member, but with two girls under 6, I know they would love it. Where is it actually? In DL or CA? and where?

It is right next to the toontown train station. It opens at 9... and if you are going during a crowded time, I recommend getting there between 8:15-8:30. I was the first in line during spring break, and we watched the line grow and grow to over an hour wait behind us.
