Tell me about Philadelphia....

If you can avoid calling a cab, you'll probably be fine. I've never dealt with more rude people in my life! they're crazy drivers too! i guess we tend to move a little slower here in the sw pa side of the state, lol.:wave2:

What do you like to do? The art museum is very nice. You could go to the historic section and see things like the Liberty Bell and the new Constitution Center.

Hey Cindy, I'm from the Main Line! What town did you live in?

Used to live in Wayne, now I'm in South Jersey.

9th and Passyunk for cheesesteaks. You'll find the Italian market there as well. South Street can waste a few hours.

Years ago I looked into jobs in Atlanta (while living in Philly). I'm an RN and the pay was much less in Atlanta, but so was the cost of living. Psupple, doing the historic Philly stuff is always good-Liberty Bell, Constitution Center, Penns Landing-all within a mile's radius. Maggianos is a good Italian restaurant near the Reading Terminal (also a great place to walk thru).

Does anyone have suggestions for a day trip in Philly? My DH and I are flying from PVD to PHL and arriving at 8am. We'll be attending the Eagles/Steelers game that evening at 8pm, but we need to fill in the 12 hours in between.

We will have a rental car and would like to have a Philly cheesesteak and maybe an authentic Italian meal. Other than that, our day is open.

12 hours? That's just enough time for the tailgating party at the Linc! I'm sure there will already be people there when you arrive at 8:00 AM.

Seriously, as long as you are comfortable with city driving, Philly is not too hard to navigate but good luck trying to find parking. Someone mentioned 9th and Passyunk for cheese steaks. That is the home of Pat's and Genos and they are the originals but I found a better place just 2 and a half blocks away from there at 8th and Dickenson. The name of the place is Cosmi's Deli and market. It is a small place but they make the best cheese steaks I have found so far.

If you want Italian, may I suggest Maggianos near the Reading Terminal Market at 12th and Filbert. Take a look at the menu on their website. The food is really yummy. Hope you have a great trip.

Adam aka big Dude

Magginos is a chain! They have them else where... So I wouldn't think that is a must do when coming to Phila.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the tips! I think you're right, Big Dude, we should head to the stadium for tailgating early, but we won't have a car, food, beer, etc. in tow. We'll be walking from the hotel across the street, so I guess we'd have to crash someone else's party!!

Can't wait for Philly and Disney, all in one trip~

Please don't come to Central Bucks County -- we are FULL!

Seriously if you have any questions - pm me. I live near Doylestown, it's a nice place. Good schools too.

Anything you need can be found at WAWA. :p

What is WAWA?

It's a convenience store they have there... and boy do they have them there. On just about every corner! I just think the name is hilarious.

I am in a WAWA like every other day! Its the best!

Doesn't "Wawa" mean "goose" or something?

Yes. "Wawa" was the Lenni Lenape Indians' word for 'goose. The Wawa company uses the Canada goose in its logo.

Love Wawa...it is the BEST convience store there is...I actually miss it when we are away From the Wawa website. www.wawa.com

Wawa?
When people hear "Wawa" for the first time, many don't know what to think. They are not really sure if it's a play on words or an improper pronunciation of a thirst quencher, but there's no doubt that many find it funny. However, don't let our name fool you: we take what we do very seriously.

Over 100 years ago, our original dairy farm was built on land located in a rural section of Pennsylvania called Wawa, which was named from a local Native American tribe in honor of their favored game - the Canada Goose. Today, the name Wawa has come to symbolize the very best attributes of our company.

Just like a majestic flock of Canada Geese flying synchronously in "V" formation, we employ the principles of teamwork, group consensus and encouragement in our company. We think it's the only way to fly. And because of this philosophy, we've been able to accomplish feats that others would consider impossible. That's why, in our market area, our customers tell us that we define what a convenience store should be.

I'm looking for a good Italian restaruant (not a chain). like a mom and pop type place. Any suggestions?
