Can someone tell me about Narcossees ?
How kid friendly is it? About how long should we plan to be there ?
We will be on the dining plan, is it worth 2 ts credits and can we order anything off the menu including surf and turf?
Please share your experiences. Thank you.

My mom & I went; wished we had brought DD (had the DDP credits)
VERY kid friendly--what isn't at WDW?
YUMMY pumpking soup for appy; Mom loved the fried oysters.
Mom had lobster (I SHOULD have...did scallops; they were fine; risotto was underdone).
Almond encrusted cheesecake was one of the BEST desserts in WDW (and I didn't find many to love)
Our biggest problem is that we enjoyed all our meals at WDW...how to decide what to drop, and what to try new....

Do not know from DDP, if anything is restricted. This is one of our favorite places, very good. As to kid friendly, it's Disney so yes, kid's menu probably on AllEars. Just keep in mind it's a signature, so it's more quiet, relaxed and you should expect at least an hour if not 2, depending on how many courses you order. FWIW.

We were just there a week today actually:sad1: , I wish I was still there:sad1:
Narcoossee was our best meal. The restaurant is very nice, if you book a later ressie you can see wishes from your seat and you can also see the water parade very close up.
We took dd, who is 5, and had no problems, there were other kids there. Her chicken fingers were excellent!
We were there for 2 hours, its a very relaxing meal.
If you are going to order the surf and turf and/or the lobster, yes it is worth the 2 TS, if you aren't just pay OOP.
Here is a pic of the lobster and the surf and turf.....both were delicious!

Thank you all so much for your help. I am drooling looking at the pictures. They look so good.
I am in charge of the planning for our trip in Sept. which will include my family, my parents, and my sister and her dh. After seeing those pictures and reading your comments I think I will book this for our first meal. That will start things off on a good note. How hard is it to get adr's ?
Thanks again for your helpful comments.

LOL:rotfl2: I booked it for our last meal b/c I wanted to end the trip on a high note:rotfl2: And it did!!!!!
I booked all my adrs at 180 days and I got my preferred time at 180 days out. It wasn't very busy, not alot of people waiting, but inside all the seats looked taken, so I'm not sure about that!

My absolute favorite place to eat! :goodvibes We've taken the kids twice and there are always several other groups with kids as well. Love the surf and turf, it's on the DDP. Get the almond crusted cheesecake too! As for the attire, they ask no tank tops, swim wear etc. We usually wear nice khaki shorts and a nice shirt.

To get teh almond cheesecake you must really like almonds and almond extract. I love almonds but I don't liek almond extract and they put that in the cheesecake so I didn't like it too much and I am a cheesecake fanatic!:sad1:

I've seen pictures of the Almond crusted cheesecake and it looks delicious; I always said that if we ever eat there that's the dessert that I want. I think I would love it.

just our honest opinion from last october's visit:
we thought the meal itself was very good, but, imho, not exceptional. DH had the calamari for an appetizer, & enjoyed it (he said it tasted just like the calamari he has had in many WDW restaurants :thumbsup2 ). i had the plate of Artisan Cheeses (very nice presentation, but cheeses were not aged properly, & generic tasting).
the lobster was well, lobster.....:confused3 lol (there isn't much that one could do that would make that portion memorable tho). DH & i felt that the "turf" portion was standard fare ~ no notable marinade or seasoning.
the YOMD cheesecake was a sight to behold: the mini-mural "background" of the castle being entirely edible ~ very, very pretty!! (again, flavor was somewhat lacking, with a slight "refridgerator" off-taste).

however watching the water parade from your table is an experience, and the view of wishes is stunning ~ the vast majority of the patrons go out on the veranda to watch it :cloud9:
also, (imho, of course;) ) the GF is one of the most beautiful resorts in WDW. walking around the grounds before and/or after is part of the "experience".
as PP said, make sure to time your ADR so that you will be eating dessert at the start of the fireworks (you don't want the entrees getting cold).

hth :)

Here's a pic of mine last week. Again you really need to like the taste of almond extract (just too much for me)

thanks for this thread - although the food sounds good - it actually talked me out of our reservation. (not sure I want to use 2ts just to get the lobster). we'll swing by the ocean on our drive home and get some at a lobster shack - thanks all.

We went in August for my birthday dinner and it was the BEST BIRTHDAY DINNER EVER!!!! Loved it! It was very kid friendly and we loved the fact that it is a smaller restaurant and not nearly as chaotic or loud as most restaurants at WDW. The food was GREAT. Everything on the menu was allowed with the DDP. We had Surf & Turf (DH) and Lobster (me). My Lobster was fantastic and the one thing they do that most places don't is that the lobster is cracked open and very easy to eat with no mess. DH had the surf and turf. The steak was wonderful. THe lobster tail was good (but not as good as my whole lobster). We will definately return! The service was great and it was an overall wonderful experience. It is my favorite restaurant (so far) on Disney property!

DH and I also agreed that my whole lobster was better than his lobster tail on the surf and turf. His was a rock lobster tail and mine is a Maine lobster so that is the difference!

Haven't been there yet, but have and ADR for next weekend. :cool1:

There was a review on the podcast a little while back, lemme see if I can give you a link:

Thank you so much for the link. Narcoossees seems to be getting great reviews.

Next weekend? :cool1: have a great time. Are you going to get the lobster or the surf and turf? Tell us all about it when you get back.

Have a magical vacation. pixiedust:
