...we'll be in DLR 3-5 July. So I am expecting to make lots of new friends with the large crowds:rolleyes1...but what else can I expect? Any special events for the big day?

I feel bad for orphan threads so I'll take a stab at this and maybe others can chime with more info. We are always blocked out for the 4th so we've never been. One year we went the Sunday right after the 4th and it was very very low crowds. Anyway, I believe they do a special fire works show that night. Other than that, I don't know if there is anything else going on.

Thanks you two...was just about to bump this! I was wondering about just how busy it would get. My plan is to book a BB PTN package that night. But we like to park hop, so I was thinking we'd have to keep an eye on crowd levels. Hate to be kept out :-)

I went July 4-6 last year.
The crowds on the 4th (a Saturday) weren't nearly as bad as I'd feared. It was crowded but it wasn't unbearable. I'm pretty sure they didn't hit capacity. We hopped back and forth a few times and never had an issue.

The day after the crowds seemed really light, better than some other days in July I'd gone in previous years.

Sometimes the crowds are heavier in DtD than in the parks because people want to see the fireworks without paying for park entry. The DtD restaurants can fill up, so make reservations early if that is something you want to do. Also, Disney has been charging a flat fee of $20 to park in the DtD lot. (Anyone who could show validation from a TS restaurant or the AMC wias supposed to get a refund.)

I think the pass holder block outs are July 2-4.
We did a 6 day pass couple yrs ago and when pass holder's were blocked out the 3 days we basically walked on rides.

The other 3 days well back to being packed.

I would not hesitate again to go on July 4 when pass holder's are blocked out

We had a wonderful time in both parks on the 4th of July. The worst crowds we faced were after WOC when we left the park. The area between the two parks was wall to wall and the crowds did not thin out until we made it to the DLH.

We usually go in the summer, and have been on July 4th twice. Neither time was horrible. As some have said, the crowds actually seemed lighter. One thing we love to do is the Flag Retreat Ceremony. It seems like it was a little longer on July 4th. (or maybe my patriotic heart was just extra touched that day!) We have also watched fireworks from Main Street. My only advice there would be do NOT leave the parks after the fireworks. We did that once, and it was almost a scary experience.

Great information everyone! :thanks:We are visitors to the US and when we realised we'd be arriving 3 July, Disney seemed a great choice. My only worry was crowds but sounds like we'll be ok there!
