Tell me about Its Tough to be a bug!

In 7 trips we've never done this - can you tell me if there are spiders??? Even if they are ridiculously un-spider like?? My DD has a fear of spiders and even doesn't like toy spiders. Also what is it?? A show? Ride? Not got a clue!!

Yes. Spiders come down from the ceiling. It's a 4-D show.

It's similar to Mickey's PhilHarmagic and Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, at least in terms of the kinds of special effects they do. Definitely not a good choice for someone who has a fear of spiders.

Skip it if you can't take spiders, they are completely fake and large, and the sound track has people screaming as they drop down. Having said that, I think it is one of the most under-rated 4D shows! We love it, and see it a couple of times each trip!

I really enjoy this show but if spiders are a problem for someone they will not like part of the show.

DON'T DO THIS SHOW!!! My 11 year old son has a fear of spiders and he HATED it. He knew everything was fake, but the show still freaked him out.

Yes definitely skip the show if your kid has a fear of spiders. They come out for about 20 seconds from the ceiling and are about the size of a car tire with glowing red eyes if I remember correctly. She can close her eyes if she wants and she won't see them, but it would definitely be terrifying for someone with a fear of spiders

Agree with all of the above. I like the show, but I'm not scared of it. I've heard reports of kids coming out of there crying, etc. I have no idea why parents would take a child with a fear of bugs into a show about...bugs.

hmmm... my youngest DS is not afraid of bugs but afraid of scary stuff. like suspenseful "make you jump out of your chair" scary. i get the spider thing but is it shocking scary... if that makes sense?

The spiders will be bad enough. My concern would be if they went and were slightly freaked out by the spiders and then the bug chair part happened the poor kid would lose it.

This. The spiders are freaky enough. The "water bugs" sliding under your butt just as the show ends, and the mosquito "pokes" from the back of your seat can completely finish a kid.

I've seen it twice and don't really remember that happening but that might be because I don't have a fear of spiders. I do remember some kids got very scared and had to leave the theater.

They do make it suspenseful with loud sounds and effects as the "mean" grasshoppers appear. My kids aren't afraid of bugs at all but both left terrified in tears not long into the show. We didn't last until the spiders so I can't speak for that specific part. Also the chair will "sting" you with a rubber poke in the back at one point.

My 24 year old dd still won't go back after seeing it Many years ago!

It's a 3D show. And there are lots of spiders - fake spiders in the theater and real images of spiders on the screen. I hate bugs but still enjoy the show. The theater and pre-show area is interesting too. And if you'll be there at a hot time of the year it's nice to get off your feet in an air conditioned building for a while.
