Tell me about Ikea please

We have lots of IKEA stuff that has held up well. A whole wall of TV stand, bookshelves and cabinets, kids beds, desks, and dressers, chairs, toys, desk lamps, it's hard to remember them all. I like the glasses - they stack well, and you get a dozen for a small amount of money. I think I have broken one in the years I have had them.

I've never purchased furniture from there. But we love the trofast set up as well. I would like to set up our living room with the LEKSVIK series. I like the style of the bookcases and tv stand. With so many video games, movies, books, really need something to hold it all together.

I've bought a couple of lamps. I saw them in the regular section and really liked them, but they were like 25$ a peice. When we went to the as-is section, they had the same two lamps for 10$ a peice, and they each had a squiggly light bulb in them.
I recently bought 7 of the hanging mesh storage things, they sell them with the stuffed animals. And it's only a peice of velcro strap to hang it by, it holds very well. I got a few large eye hooks from home depot and hung them from the ceiling. I mean, every one of them is full and heavy. I'm really happy with them.
Sure beats the wire shelving I spent a 150$ at home depot for all the board games. I was thinking of putting the same shelving on the opposite wall for the stuffed animals, but 30$ is a much better price.

I also love the cinnamon rolls they sell at the food stand downstairs. I can smell them all the way out in the parking lot. And it's great when they have hot fresh ones in the 6 pack.

Another Ikea lover here.

We all have the malm series beds.
We have installed 2 kitchens (Nexus) thus far in our rental units.
Cannot beat the price on the wood step stools or the kids easels.
No problems (knock on wood) with anything we have purchased from them.

I kind of resent the comment about having a handy husband to put this stuff together. My BF couldn't FIND a hammer in my toolbox if he tried! He has no clue about building/handywork - I am the handygirl of the house, I can do pretty much anything.

.

Agreed, woman can follow directions! this off topic but reminded me about a comical agrument that I had with my now ex. I put togther a rock & roll trike that dd got for her first birthday, I was so tired of him finding something better to do so one night when he was out I put it together. He insisted that I cheated on him and "the other man" did it bc there was no way a woman was capable. Boy did that go thru the roof. I did all the handy work, and finished his unfinished projects. I am resourceful don't hestitate to at least try and pray I don't get in over my head.

I am planning to take a trip down to the Ikea store near Cincy and get a few desparately needed chairs. I prefer to get a furniture that I can affordable just change the slipcover when it gets too tattered or pattern gets dated. I am not a fan of 1 peice slip covers. I have been eyeing the Ektorp chairs for abot six months. So Ikea will getting my extra holiday cash!
