I don't know anything about this dinner show. We have 2 boys ages 6 & 8. Where is it, what is it, how much is it, is it fun?

The Hoop De Doo Revue is a dinner show that runs I believe twice, maybe three times a night, at Fort Wilderness campground. It is a fun show, a bit corny, but it's good for families. If memory serves you get ribs, baked beans, corn on the cob, that sort of stuff. There is audience participation in the show and it runs for a couple of hours. It is pricey though, I don't know the exact price but I'm sure someone will know it here. You have to make reservations far in advance. You might be able to find more info. on the Disney restaurants board.

The Hoop-De-Doo is great fun. It is corny but it's still a lot of fun. The prices for adults are $46.33 inc. tax for adults ( I don't know the kid's price) The menu is Homestyle Fried Chicken, Smoked Pork Ribs, Baked Beans, Corn, Homemade Bread, Fresh Garden Salad, Strawberry Shortcake for desert, Unsweetened Iced Tea, Apple Juice, Milks, Tea, Coffee Reg. & Decaf, Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, Rootbeer, Orange Soda, Bud Light Draft, and Sangria. There's lots of audience participation involved and it's never a dull moment. DH & I both thought it was well worth the money and there were lots of kids there laughing and having a ball.

Hope this helps,
Cheryl :bounce:

The HDD is a great show to take the kids to!!! Our 6 yr old DD had a ball!!! The jokes are soooo corny, but if your kids are like mine and tell the same knock knock jokes, and make up there own jokes that only they get you will have a ball!!!

Yes it is expensive...it was $120 for the three of us. But we found that as with all the dinner shows/extra entertainmetn at WDW it was well worth it. The food was good (Loved the chicken) and it was something new and exciting. We had the 7:15 seating, but there was one in front of us and one at 9:30 also. (We were there July 8 for dinner).

We orginally made our PS way back in the spring, but the last week we decided to do some changing around of our game plan. We were flexible as to what day we wanted during our trip, but when it came down to it we were able to get a seating on any of the days we were thnking about. the 7:15 show had the most openings. Afterwards you can walk to the beach and see the Light Parade on the water!!! This is really neat.

My advise....plan enough traveling time or drive to Fort Wilderness. We stayed at WL so we were close but I heard many people talking about how long it took to get there. The bus system leaving is very confusing...Two buses stop at nearly the same place, but one is going "in" and one is going "out". Mark the bus driver is the only one that "knows what's going on!!!" All the other drivers were VERY confused!!! This is the only place where we had trouble with the bus system, but i think it is just because there are so many different people coming and going from it, and there are only the two very confusing ques for the buses.

AlL in all it was a great time!!!

FYI, AMEX offers a 20% discount on HDD. Ask for it when you make reservations.

Last time I checked, the AMEX Discount was only good for the 9:30 show.

Has this changed?

Thanks for all the detailed info!!! Poly Pal, I looked it up and yes you are right, the Amex disc is only good for the 9:30 show. It sounds like great fun, and I'm sure my boys would enjoy it. I'll have confer with DH about it and the price.

When I made reservations the CM looked and said there were no limitations. She marked my reservations as "AMEX" and said it would be discounted the night of the show...

This from the "White Glove" discount page on this forum:

"20% off Disney Dinner shows: If you are a Disney resort guest you can receive 20% off of the Polynesian Luau (5:15pm and 8:00pm) and Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue (all shows) as long as you have 7 people or less in your party. If you have more than 7 people only the first 7 get the 20% discount, anyone who is additional pays full rate EXCEPT for the 9:30pm HDDR show where anyone over the 7 person limit receives 10% off. "

Just be sure to pay for your hotel with AMEX.

Go to the show. It was great. I thought that it was too expensive and I wasn't sure if my kids would like it. (ages 3 1/2 and 6 at the time we went).

Well they were very tired when we went after a whole day in the park but they loved it. They laughed so much (not that they got the jokes) and loved the music. When the cast took a break my 3 yr old kept asking when it would start up again.

I didn't think too much of this before because I read it was corny jokes but we loved it and definitely will do it again. After being there we thought it was definitely worth the money.

One suggestion if going to this on a night that you will be at a park most of the day, leave a little early from the park and just rest (even if there aren't any naps taken).

Have fun

Also remember, the price of the dinner includes gratuity, AND, it is served family style. It is also an all you care to eat, don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask for a doggy bag. When we went, another family asked for a to go bag and the next day they were in the food court heating up the ribs in the microwave. The entire food court at ASMu smelled like the HHDR :)
