We are going to be in LA the week of Halloween. We are trying to decide if we want to go for actual halloween or not.

A couple ?'s..

Is it really busy on Halloween?
Is it worth the extra money to trick or treat there?
What exactly do they do to the haunted mansion that makes it different during the holiday season?

Not usually and hasn't been very busy in some recent years past.

But the 50th has made every day in general, more crowded.

In some years, Halloween has fallen on a weeknight (and this year is on a Tuesday) and Disneyland has closed at 8pm (and will probably this year too)...
So a lot of locals and APs who visit DL early and then clear out to go trick or treating a few hours before closing.

Is it worth the extra money to trick or treat there?

The 2nd Annual Mickey's Halloween Treat is a fun and nicely priced little event for Guests, their kids and their families.

Candy, kid crafts, mood music, some nice decorations and things last year, character meet & greets... but supposedly with much smaller crowds than normal days in the park, and kids as well as adults people can dress up (no masks, and no adults in costume allowed in DL after) and it's a Halloween party / trick or treat / Disney atmosphere.

What exactly do they do to the haunted mansion that makes it different during the holiday season?

Jack Skellington from The Nightmare before Christmas spreads his strange mix of Halloween tricks & treats and mis-guided Christmas cheer all around. New soundtrack, new queue music and Christmas Scarols, Nightmare Before Christmas characters, many new figures and visuals thruout the attraction and a different storyline... :santa:

we have newver done DL at Halloween but we did WDW, yes it was worth it, crowded, not to bad, things keep moving, I would assume DL would be just as good. Go, you'll never know till you try it.
