This is the only ride I haven't been on at Disney. Plan on doing it this time.. Is it as intense as they say? I watched some Youtube videos but they were very dark.
What was your experience like on the ride? Do I need a few drinks from Dawa before going on this?

We rode it last December and it was waaaay tamer than I remembered in previous trips. My 3.5yo rode it and loved it. He wasn't scared/jarred at all. On a previous trip, I told my sister not to let my 4yo nephew ride based on previous experience...now I feel badly that I suggested she not put him on the ride.

I love rollercoasters, giggle through tower of terror, but that darn allosaurus gets me every time. :lmao:
I will not sit in the front for that very reason. Other than that I think the ride is fine- though I do know he's coming & the anticipation puts me in a tizzy. I just don't know what it is about him :confused3 I generally like dinosaurs. Lol

He gets us everytime too. I know he is there, I know he is not real, yet he terrifies us everytime.:scared1:

My kids love dinosaurs, so we ride several times per trip. The Carnotaurus has never made me jump. Maybe because I knew exactly where he was going to be? I've always found it tame, but fun.

It makes kids cry and is a little rough. In other words, it's cool.;)

Very rough and dark and gave me a massive headache. And the dinosaur scared the ever living crap out of me.

Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for ENTIRE ride!)

Its certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.

Definitely do not miss it this time!
It's not as intense as they say but it is very dark, loud, and jerky.
But it's a must-ride every time I'm at DAK.

In terms of motion, it's a lot tamer than a lot of the rides at Disney.

I can't do rides that spin me too fast, or go upside down or backwards. So Space Mountain is OK but Everest is not. And I can't even watch my husband and kids on the teacups!

Dinosaur is just fine. It's a bit jerky-- probably most similar to Mission Space Green or Star Tours.

Sure, it's dark and loud.... but you know that from its name.

I get a kick out of it.

I love Dinosaur!!!!

The ride motion is very choppy.

It is very LOUD. But I think that adds to the "ambience" :goodvibes

My kids don't like it, sometimes they are good sports and will go on it, otherwise they stay with DH and I ride solo at least once. I don't like to miss it.

My very brave (then 5 year old) hated it. Had nightmares for days after it. But we did get stuck under a huge dinosaur when the ride stopped for some reason or other, and he just screamed and screamed "Its gonna eat us!!!! I'ts gonna eat us!!!"
Poor kiddo, I felt soooo bad.
It makes me want to go hug him right now! (And he's 17 now) LOL.

We all love it, my kids too even as 2, 3, 4, 5 years old. My ods asked me why the lady behind him was screaming the entire while:lmao: Adults scream like they are being killed on this ride.

Its bumpy but I wouldn't call it rough, its supposed to be rocky terrain, so it jiggles you around, driving after dinosaurs to find one then get away. They are large and a bit loud (as I assume dinosaurs would have been.) Its dark and you get surprised by dinosaurs popping up.

Agree 100%

They are also the most comfortable ride seats in WDW- it helps a lot with the motion.

DS8 and I absolutely love it, DS10 and DW have decided they like their Dinosaurs in a museum- static and just bones.....

We love it. It's jerky and dark but very fun. The dinos scare me a little (yes, I'm an adult ) and I have been known to keep my eyes shut the entire time...

How did your 2/3 year old ride it? Are they incredibly tall? It says 40". I know all kids are different but there's no way my 2.5 year old will be 40". My 5 year old is just 41" and we're not short people.

Looks fun though!!

My dd rode it when we went in 2010, she was 4.5 and 44" tall

All of us loved it. It's just like Indiana Jones!!

It's definitely intense for small children, but it's pretty tame for adults. You won't need a drink before riding it, but it couldn't hurt. :thumbsup2

Sorry, he was 3 not 2, my mistake. Yds did not make it due to height.
Ods was 3 1/2 when he met height for it the first time. My yds is almost 6 and just now 41".
(The trips all just start to blend together now lol.)
