Just looking for any input/opinions on the Garden Wing Garden View rooms at the CR. How did you like it? How was the view? And how was the walk to the main tower? I assume the rooms are just like the ones in the tower, and those look really nice.

Thanks for any input!!

It depends on how far out in the wing you are. I prefer the standard view (parking lot view) because I like watching the monorails. Those rooms are fairly close to the tower, as are the garden view toward the front of the wing. The main physical difference between wing rooms and tower rooms is that wing rooms don't have balconies and tower rooms do. Even when I had a room all the way at the back overlooking Bay Lake, it didn't take more than 5 minutes to get to the 4th floor concourse. There are doors at various points along the first floor that will allow you to exit the wing, so you can take shortcuts to the tower that way as well as to the pool.

We had a Garden room last year that over looked the pool and was at the end closest to the main building. The walk was less then a minute.

We really liked the room, it was big and had the flat screen TV. We also really like the pool at CR. But the walls is our room were VERY thin and we got no sleep for most of our trip. There was a baby in the room next door and it cryed every night until well past midnight. We herd evey cry because of the conecting door between our room and the room next door. It was awful. If we go to CR again I would request a room w/o a connecting door.

I just returned from a stay at the south wing section....hated it!!Far walk from the tower and the building looked quite dark and dingy inside. The room was ok, not worth the money though. Surely it did not feel deluxe to me. We stayed at WL too and it was fabulous there. Even with the ongoing refurbishing, CR has a ways to go. Won't be back.

I loved it when I stayed there. But that was back when the north garden wing was still in existance. The walk back from MK in the evening was great. Much faster than the monorail. If you have young kids, its a great option. I didn't, mine complained because I wouldn't let them watch Wishes from the room. I told a "Mom fib" that the room wasn't ready. I wanted to be there with them watching it. I'm glad I forced them to see it. The next night we got to see part of it from our room after Illuminations. They really enjoyed that. It was our last family vacation since now the oldest has moved away.

We got home last night from a 4 nite stay in a GV room. Candidly, I don't see what all of the fuss about the CR generally is all about. We were checked in by a CM who clearly wished that she was anywhere else. Luckily we were eavesdropping while more invested Cm's explained where things were and how things worked. Our CM just wanted my credit card and ID. She told us our room "was out that way."

The room was pretty clean, but not without crumbs and dust under and around the desk and daybed. There is almost no space in the bathroom to lay out clean after shower clothes. The computer access is nice, but the set-up makes it hard to use what little storage space there is.

The best part about the CR is really, really convenient to the Magic Kingdom. It took us about 10 minutes to walk from our room the the bag search area.

I've stayed in both tower and wing, I much prefer the tower, however, the wing wasn't that bad. It was a nice room with a view of the monorail going by, and the walk wasn't too bad at all. Again, I do prefer the tower (staying there in umm...18 daysish..;) )

We stayed in a garden wing room about 4 years ago and loved it. It was incredibly convenient to the MK - I could walk the stroller back to the room in less than 10 minutes and let my daughter nap while DH and DS stayed in the park for a little while longer and then came back to swim til DD woke up. WE's wait out some of the hottest, busiest times and then just walk back over for later evening events. The rooms were scheduled to be renovated after we left so the decor may have changed. the room was fairly good size (not as big as SOG but definitely much bigger than the All Stars and CS) with 2 beds and a sofa that opened up into a bed, big table and nice bathroom area. The color scheme was something akin to the Jetsons. The pools at the Contemporary were kind of unremarkable when compared to Poly, YC/BC, etc but my kids had a great time at their big slide. Also, the water light show could be seen from our room - what a nice treat and something the kids looked forward to. Hands down, the most convenient of all the hotels for us. I'd go back in a heatybeat.:wizard:

Brian...you want the tower.

Garden rooms just don't have the same "magic" that the tower has. You will feel separated from all the excitement that the CR holds. Sorry, but it's true. (IMO!) The garden rooms in that south tower are a hike from MK. They are a hike from the concourse where the CR atmosphere of fun is. Yes, the rooms look lovely after the rehab, but it is just a different experience than staying in the CR tower. In a GV room, you'll get off the monorail take the elevator down and leave the excitement of the CR behind when you walk out and away. :sad2:

Tower or nothing. JMO....from years of CR experience.;)

Sorry to disappoint you.:guilty:

The Garden Wing rooms have advantages: they're quiet, and maybe you don't need SO MUCH Disney action. If you happen to get upgraded to a water view, you'll get one of the nicest rooms in WDW: either facing the canal or Bay Lake. When we stayed in a North Garden Wing water view we faced Bay Lake. There was nothing quite like enjoying coffee on the patio listening to the loons on the lake and the motor launchs whistling.

Anyway, if you make a request, ask for a first floor room. They have patios and sliding glass doors.
