Tell me about Boma...

I would not call Boma great... IMHO, I have yet to experience a buffet that I would call great. However, with that said Boma is very good when it comes to buffets and would say overall the food is good, buffet or not. Boma is also far from your typical buffet. I am not a fan of buffets, but Boma is one buffet that I did enjoy and while it is not on my must do list, it is one that I will visit again.

I think that you either love Boma or you don't. We heard all the excellent reviews about Boma and decided to try the restaurant, but we did noit like Boma, at all. We have not tried Jiko or Sanaa and we disliked Boma so much that we are afraid to try these other restaurants.

Wow, I'm so surprised to hear that you really disliked it. It is one of our favorite buffets at WDW! We also loved Sanaa, especially the atmosphere with all the different light fixtures and the windows looking right out to the animals - giraffes while we were eating!

I'm thinking of switching my ADR from Sanaa to Boma. I keep going back and forth on this. I very much want to try the bread service at Sanaa, but I keep looking at the menu and I'm not sure my kids are going to enjoy Sanaa as much (they will be 7 and 4). I know that Sanaa is a Table Sevice restaurant and you can potentially see the animals if you get a good seat and if it isn't dark (we are dining at dinner so chances are we won't see them). We plan to explore the resort after dinner anyway since we've never seen AKL.
My main question....is Boma just a standard buffet? Do they have any fun entertainment for the kids? (Like Ohanas has the limbo and fun things like that....does Boma do something similar?)

Our fave restaurant !! Not just in disney !! A must !!

We love Boma. There is always a wide selection of foods including roasted meats, vegetable dishes and wonderful desserts. We tried Sanaa this year and liked it also. I can honestly say that I had one of my best Disney World meals at Sanaa.

We Love Boma. The meats, the soups, the DESSERTS:tongue:

Plan on loosening your belt after dinner.

Did I mention the desserts. While there is no show/characters when we have been there the staff did come through banging on drums a little bit. Best Value for a buffet when looking at the food. Be sure to walk straight through the Main Hotel Lobby before dinner and go outside and see the animals, there's your entertainment.

I get a bowl of each of the soups, some watermelon rind salad and a few cocktails and I'm a happy camper! The rest is gravy!

I love Boma. The best thing about the place is the chance to try new things and also fall back on "normal" food if you don't like the more unusual stuff. Being able to walk off your dinner a bit afterward while at AKL is nice too.

Boma was a favorite of ours for quite a long time. Somewhere along the line it sort of fell out of our WDW restaurant rotation. We tried it again a couple of weeks ago and we were somewhat disappointed. The food quality was just meh, and for some reason the soups weren't especially hot (the soups have always been the highlight for me.) The desserts were still pretty good, the service wasn't especially great. Maybe it was just an off night, but for now Boma is retired from our WDW eatery choices.
