I really want to check out AKL, so i think i convinced DH to try Boma. He is not an adventurous eater at all...I am, DS will eat anything and DD will find something. Is he gonna be miserable there? What do they have for dinner? Anyone have pics to share?

Definitely try Boma! I was worried about finding familiar foods on the buffet in case I wasn't up to the adventure. I had little kids too (12, 5, and 18m) and they managed just fine on mac & cheese, chicken strips, mashed potatoes, etc. As a fall back, your picky eaters can always count on the basics to be there.

That said, the best food was the "adventurous" stuff! I tried a little of everything and nothing was over the top weird or anything. They had a rice dish with golden raisins and crazy spices that was fantastic! I remember liking everything I tried on the dinner buffet, and the desserts were fantastic! So many adult ones (with liqueurs) that were delish! Don't miss the Zebra Domes!

Boma is a can't miss! Most everyone who tries it, likes it. We won't make it back there this time but only b/c we're trying to get to other places we haven't tried yet and some of our old favorites too.

My DH was a steak and potatoes guy, and no two foods could touch on his plate. Why he was willing to try Boma I can't remember but it became his absolute favorite. He even asked for several recipes so we could create the dishes at home. ;)I know some people don't care for Boma but we loved it. There are chefs there who'll explain to you exactly what is in a dish, and all you have to do is take a tiny bit to try, and then get more if you like it. I think it's a place everyone should try at least once!

We are steak and potato people too and we tried it in 2007 and loved it. They have the nicest staff we have ever encountered as well.

We booked Dinner and Breakfast in 2008 and I just booked Dinner and Breakfast for our trip in September.

Please try it. I know everyone raves about the zebra domes but I wasn't a huge fan. They had this awesome chocolate mousse though:cloud9:

Plus the lodge is beautiful!

I'll try anything once, and we ate at Boma in December. My grampa is a foodie, and he loved it. The rest of us weren't so wild about it ( no pun intended ;)), but it was a very decent meal. I, personally, probably won't return anytime soon, but that's partly because I like to eat at new places each time we go to the World. That said, have him try it. You never know...

It was our favorite meal last trip, and is now on our "must do" list for every trip. You will not be disappointed.
As for your non-adventurous DH, they have a carving station which the night we were there had the most tender delicious beef I've ever had, as well as chicken and pork. And the "exotic" dishes - some had fancy exotic names, but there was nothing there that was over the top - a sweet potato mash with a very exotic name, something (I think called "Pap") that was like a grit cake, cous cous with herbs and vegetables, the soups are all to-die-for delicious (especially the butternut squash) and there is a large salad bar. And honestly, if all else fails, the kids section had chicken fingers, plain pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs on the side, mac and cheese so if nothing else, he could eat that rather than be hungry.:confused3

We ate there for the first time our last trip and it was definitely my favorite meal. I like to try new things, but I'm definitely not adventurous- you won't find me trying anything crazy. The food at Boma was different, but had enough familiar ingredients to make me want to try everything (or as much as my stomach could handle!). My husband on the other hand is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He did not love Boma as much as I did, but still found things he liked. I say go for it, it's definitely the kind of place you should try at least once.
