Will this make for a very "heavy" lunch? DKs 7 & 9 are kind of picky - will they enjoy this place? FWIW, we lunched at Chefs de France last year and DKs proclaimed it a new must-do. Thanks!

Personally I hate to dis anything in WDW but yes, it is an extremely heavy meal. Lots of meat, salads, side dishes and breads/desserts but all heavy. I really care for the two times I ate there. Two, you say? Well, the first time I took my niece and she wanted to eat there. The second time was with my brother and family and guess who got to pick again...the niece.

They do have great entertainment while you eat but one other thing I didn't like is that you share your dinner table with strangers - part of the Biergarten experience.

Hopefully others will reply to give you more feedback. Again, heavy food, good entertainment, sitting with strangers. Good luck! Ely

DH and I love this place, he being 100% German helps!

The food is awesome, we were there in April and they had lots of nice chilled salads, cheeses, meats, killer potato leek soup, pretzel bread sticks, sauerbraten, roasted chicken, roast pork, snitzel, spaetzel, veggies, potatoes, mac and cheese, hot dogs, chicken fingers and other items. The desserts were gross, black forest cake, bavarian cheesecake, chocolate cups with a dab of vanilla pudding...the best thing there was the apple strudel with warm vanilla sauce YUMMY!

I also love this place! It's only a heavy meal if you pick the heavy items! They also have a kids section w/regular kid stuff for the picky eaters! It is alot of fun! It's a great German experience! We would definitely go back!

I  German food. Reminds me of Grandma! Anyway, just for the experience, I think it would be fun. Regarding sharing table with others, can't be too different from Alfredo's! :lmao:

I just learned about sharing tables and love it, what a greatoppurtunity to meet someone. I love german food or at least all I've tried. How many are at atable and what is the entertainment ??

Could not agree with you more.

I think eight at a table. I think. I could be wrong. My wife just walked in and said I am wrong. So,........I don't know. But we definitely did meet some very nice people over the years.

LMAO!

Yep! 8 to a table. We love this place. My kids were very apprehensive about it (they were 14,11, and 8 at the time), now it's a must do!!

We didn't find the food to be too heavy. You can really pick and choose what you'd like on the menu. They have alot to offer and it's all good!!

There are some tables that have 6, towards the back....we were seated with 2 other couples and it was very uncomfortable because no one wanted to speak..we tried to start conversations but they were not into it so we just talked to each other...it was really weird.

Biergarten is a great place to eat. It is Octoberfest every day. It is buffet style with a lot of different choices even for the picky eater. They have entertainment (a group of men) that sing, play instruments and get the guests involved in sing alongs. It is alot of fun. The tables we've sat at have been for 8 people. I like the idea of sitting with strangers. It gives you an opportunity to meet new people. One time my DH & I had lunch there, we were sat with a couple who were actually from Germany. We had a really nice time and conversation. Take a chance! You'll enjoy it! :cool1:

We have eaten their twice. We really enjoyed it both times. The service was great, The food was very good. The entertainment was great. We had a party of 8 once so we didn't have to share a table. Once we were a party of 6 and they sat a couple with us. It was fun to sit with other people. We will definitely go back.

We ate there on Friday and had a great time. There was another family of four at our table and we enjoyed getting to know them. The meal can be heavy if you want it to. My DS9 nearly filled up on just the salads, trying different stuff. He barely ate the schnitzel, etc. DD6 is not adventurous and she found plenty to enjoy.

The feel is right for Oktoberfest, having lived two years in Germany. Decent beer selection as well. DW had a Radler, a blend of lemonade and beer she came to love overseas.

We just ate there last week and enjoyed it. The food was really good and I didn't find it heavy at all. We sat with another family of four and we enjoyed talking with them.

We ate there in April. LOVED IT! Yeah, the food is "heavy", but it's a buffet, and you can eat as much, or as little as you like. Our family loves German food, and it was some of the best we have had. Table sharing, which I did not think I would like at first, turned out the be great. We met a fantastic couple from the New England area, along with their two children, and had some great conversation.

Highly recommended by me, and we will definitely eat there again!

Thanks to everyone. I think we may just try this one. We're a little leery of different places after a very bad experience at Marrakesh last year but I think it was more of a cultural thing there than anything - waitstaff completely ignored me and spoke only to DH. :confused3 I know we won't get that in Germany though!

Another question: Are the sausages fresh, or like Ekrich or something? Can't really imaging eating Scott Petersen knockwurst in a German restaurant, you know? :rotfl:

Yes, everything is fresh and replenished quite often.

This is a DNM (Do Not Miss) restaurant with our family. We have a tradition of going to the Biergarden for a late lunch on the first full day of each of our visits. My daughter is in her 4th year of German Language studies and loves to converse with the CM's at the Biergarden.

We have never, in our many visits, had a bad experience at this restaurant. Don't miss the apple strudel with the vanilla sauce.

...and just another point about being seated together with others...how bad can it be...you are with others that love to visit WDW..LOL

Ditto, and double ditto on the apple strudel with the vanilla sauce. :thumbsup2 I think I may have had uh, eh, uh more than one serving of that one!:rotfl:

I was so excited to eat here! The atmosphere is phenomenal and the band and dancing is wonderful. The food was good. I found a lot of things I liked. My girls were very disappointed as the spaetzle was fried and they like the way I cook it which is just boiled with butter... I should've known better and prepared them! The soup was out of this world, the sauerbraten was yummy... it's as heavy as you choose it to be.

I was excited to share a table except our tablemates were awful. The woudn't converse with us so it made it quite uncomfortable. :sad1:

DH is not a disney fan at all, and he was such a good sport about going with me on our last trip. One thing he did not complain about AT ALL was the dining, and Biergarten was one of his favorites! The atmosphere is so festive and so cool, and very distinctly Disney!

I, too, LOVED the apple strudel with vanilla sauce!

Biergarten is one of our favorites. If you don't want heavy food then I suggest:
the cucumber salad
the tomato salad (my favorite salad in all of WDW)
the salmon
the roasted potatoes (but not too many) :-)
the pork tenderloin (they'll slice it for you, get a thin slice with the mustard or chutney)
They also have regular salad.
I also think the apple strudel with vanilla sauce is the best, but my kids love the vanilla pudding.

If beer is too heavy, they have an excellent selection of Rieslings (which are lighter in alcohol than most wines). The Monchhof Riesling is really good.

We have had some quiet tablemates but also have met some very nice folks.
