I've only ever rented from alamo and national at mco but for this trip I was able to save $52 by using avis for a full size rental. I just joined the avis preferred club but it really didn't say what perks this gives me. I assume I still need to go to the counter in the terminal. Is there a special line for preferred members? do they pick the car for you? we really liked picking our own car at alamo or national but to save some cash I guess we'll take our chances!! any info on avis would be greatly appreciated!!:goodvibes

If you have Avis Preferred service just grab your bags and go to the garage, there's a litte booth there where they will give you your car keys. No, it's not like Emerald Isle where you just go pick a car there and go.

This is correct. We've been Avis Preferred members for several years. No need to stop at the counter in the terminal. When you get to the garage, there is a small booth for Preferred members to get their key and then off you go. :drive:

Is there a fee for the preferred service? We have already made our reservation using a discount code through my husband's corporate perks. When it started asking for a c.c. # and what kind of car I wanted, I exited out, afraid it would undo our other reservation.

AFAKI it shouldn't have any impact on any outstanding reservations since you didn' make them with your preferred number. It wants a CC on file so that you don't need to show one at the booth and the kind of car is the default car class that you normally want to use on a reservation, but you can select any other class. Once you're set up then you can try making another reservation under your preferred number and the discount code and see if you get the same rate, if yes keep it and cancel the other, else just cancel out of the reservation process.

There's no fee for preferred. Basically what you are doing is filling out all that time consuming paperwork in advance. They keep it on file, so you just head to the garage, grab your keys and go.

We once spent two hours in line in Boston waiting for a car from Budget. NO MORE! Now we are dropped right in front of our car in Boston, and it's already running with the AC on.

At MCO, you have to go out to the garage, but there's no waiting in line, which is great!

In Fort lauderdale, your name is on a board and you just walk out to your space number to get your car.

In Tampa, there's a small booth. Every airport is a bit different.
