Since we've never stayed at any Value (we're not snobs, but low maint and past DH had conference at Coronado, we've never stayed at value or deluxe). We're even staying off property but since it's just DD (14) and myself would rather not deal with driving unless we chose. I've got a rate of $117 for car for our stay (6ish days) so having that option might be helpful with having better food choice options (quick service dining free if I book today).
Any tips on location to request would be helpful too.
TIA
Carolyn
so which are might be quiet but not that long a walk to things for a non-preferred room.

We have stayed at Music and Movies. They are right next to Sports. My sons actually wanted to stay at sports. :) It is a typically hotel room. I usually compare it to a Holiday Inn when trying to tell people about it. It is simple yet done disney style. If you are looking for a clean fun place to stay on the property you will be fine. If you are wanting something upscale this may not appeal to you.

Have a great trip!

Don't care about Upscale...
Mainly clean and safe.
Which area of Sports would be recommended for a teenage (14) girl, we're looking for convenience without paying the surcharge.
Thanks

I've stayed at POP not the All stars but I figure they are similiar.

Things I liked at POP:
theming was fun, bright colors, nice pools, food court, room was clean, buses to parks were acceptable, it was cheap ;)

Things I didn't like:
beds were small and uncomfortable, walls are thin (I could hear everything next door), outside corridors means more noise too, curtain in window didn't really give you privacy and mousekeeping left it open after done cleaning, bathroom is tiny, no closet just a rod, 2n1 shampoo and conditioner rather than seperate

that being said I would consider another stay at the values
If you are going to use ME and the park buses and spend most of your time doing Disney things then they are a nice way to do it. If you are already renting a car and may do things other than Disney you may prefer off site. You will get better amenities and service for less dough.

For example: right now POP is listed at 124 a night for my July trip. I can stay at the Hilton in downtown disney for 100 a night or the Hampton universal for 100.
I would not compare the values to a Holiday Inn they are more closely like a nice Motel 6 or Best Western type motel.

It may sound a bit negative but I did have a good time at POP. Whatever you decide you will have a good time too.;)

Sport is divided into different areas. Does she play/like a particular sport or cheer leading? You could request that area. It is a rather large resort so you could also request a room near the front. If you plan to use the pool maybe that would work for you.

It really is a clean fun place to stay. We would stay there in a heartbeat.

We stayed at Sports this past December and enjoyed it! We are a value resort family (have stayed at them all), and have never paid extra for deluxe. The only mod we have stayed at is CBR. To me, the rooms in the values and CBR are too comparable to justify the extra cost. The big difference seems to be the resort grounds. CBR's were more resort-ish with more features in the pool area. Since we are just at the hotel for sleeping and don't do pools much (we're from FL and can do that at home), we would rather save the $ and stay value.

We stayed in building 5 (tennis) last time and it was a quick walk to the food court if you use the path by the playground. I don't remember the room #, but it was at the corner next to building 7 (football). We found the room to be very quiet and there was a bunny that lived in the trees/bushes outside the window - we would see him/her every morning! The room was also really clean. We had to move 1 bed, but it was as clean as you can expect a hotel room to be.

I stayed at All Star Sports by myself one year. The others (the high school band went and alot of the parents went at the same time) were able to get rooms at All Star Music but by the time I booked there were no rooms at Music available so I stayed at Sports. I was fine. I felt perfectly safe by myself walking around the hotel, even walking between Sports and Music, I felt safe.

I would recommend a room close to the front, perhaps in one of the Touchdown buildings. Good luck and have a great trip.

We've stayed at all the resorts and Sports is just fine. We prefer the theming of POP as well as the food court and shop. Sports just felt crowded to us, not really sure why. We also did't like sharing buses with the other All-Stars but we were there in mid-September so they may not share buses during busier times. That being said, there's nothing wrong with Sports as far as values go. The rooms are typical value rooms, small but functional. The food court is good and the gift shop is adequate but nothing special. We probably wouldn't stay here again but that is only because we enjoy the theming of the other values better.

We have stayed at AS Movies twice and loved it! With 2 teenage boys now though we have outgrown it. Not the theme, but the size of the room. Above is a link to a pic of an AS Sports football room. There are 2 beds, a TV stand with storage, a small table with 2 chairs in the main room. The sink and hanging closet area is just outside of the bathroom and the bathroom has a toilet and tub/shower. The pools are nice sized and themed. We actually used the "Grand Slam" pool on out last AS visit. It was right by the laundry area so I did laundry while the kids swam. It was not crowded at all.

Do some research here and on other WDW sites. The AS can get busy and loud depending on when you go. There are some rooms that will be quieter than others based on location. You can try to put a request in for those rooms.

We loved the All Stars and recommend it. Especially with the QS deal! It makes good $$ sense.

I personally would choose Sports if I had the choice over music and movies. Layout of the resort is much more convenient at sports (and movies) in comparison to Music

All of Disney's value resorts are nice and safe. We used to stay at the All Stars when we did value (Usually Sports) but once we stayed at POP we have kept going back there. Not that POP is so much nicer than the All Stars but mostly because I've been running a fridge swap at POP since August 2006 so I've returned there so I could use my own fridge! (5 times so far).

We always have a car so we don't use the buses. We did try to bus last time from MK to POP at closing time and I would rather have had our car. ;)

POP is more centrally located than the All Stars. The AS are closest to AK and BB.

I think you'll be happy with any Disney resort. They are all clean and safe.

BTW to PP, I think she's staying on property to get the free DDP. Even paying full rate for the room the savings for getting free QSDP outweighs any other discount or getting a cheaper room offsite. Plus staying onsite you are immersed in the magic, 24-7.

Just wanted to add, we liked that there's a McDonald's just outside the guard gates to the All Stars. We got tired of paying so much for our food, so even though McD's isn't awesome, we were happy to save $10-15. But if you get the dining plan, that won't be an issue.

I just stayed at all stars for eight nights. It was very crowded with teenagers. We were there with a group and most of the people there were with groups. So that means four to a room. WIth over 1900 hundred rooms that makes for a lot of people. Mostly teens. It is a basic needs resort with a sports theme. If you were looking for a quiet resort, this is not the place for you. A moderate would be more suited. I have stayed at a couple of the values and all the moderates. I prefer moderates because it has more to offer from food choices and ammenities and it seems more resortlike and not motel like. Hope this helps.

For what it's worth, after our sports events were finished we stayed for four extra nights and switched to Hilton Bonnet Creek. (On Disney Property. It was cheaper that the value and a much nicer full service hotel with a lazy river. It also offers transportation to the parks.

If you stay at the values, I would check to see if there were events happening at ESPN because most of the teams stay at the values. While we were there there were many sports teams playing as well as robotics.

We've stayed at ASMo and Pop and loved them. The thing with the values is a lot of kids which wasn't a problem in September but when we switched to June there were tons of kids and noise. Still the themes are great and the food court can't be beat. You can pay more ($10??) for a perferred room which will get you closer to the food court and bus stop. Rooms are clean and plenty large enough, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I do miss the queen size beds at the values though.

We stayed at the Sports in 2007 and enjoyed our stay. We're a family of 5 and usually stay at POR. Since we went sans kids that year, we were able to enjoy another resort. I think that your 14 yr old will be fine there. Like a lot of people, I don't go to Disney to hang out at the resort. I spend most of my time in the parks, and if I do come back to the resort during the day, it's only for a couple of hours. A clean bed is a clean bed. And as far as lots of kids being around, as previously mentioned, it's Disney!!! Of course there are going to be lots of kids!

I wouldn't go into it with the mindset "How bad is it?" That's just too gloomy for Disney! ;)

I stayed there, I was going to go with Pop because of the buses but there were no more rooms for the deal I wanted when I reserved. Sure Sports is more boring looking than Music or Movies if you don't like sports, but I don't care about the decor if I'm only walking by it to/from the bus! It's nice being the first stop on and off, but most days we got our own bus and it didn't even stop by the other AS's so I'm not sure exactly how they work it. I suppose if you're there during a peak season that could be a perk, no watching overfull buses pass you or have them send out new buses to replace full ones, etc.

If I recall the two football buildings were nice and close to the main area. I didn't think it was all that big at all, but I'm a grad student who walks a mile+ to work/class each day so I know my standards of what makes a long walk is different than others.

I thought the room was plenty big. It's probably a Holiday Inn/Day's Inn size, but Disney so I think its a bit better maintained. Everything was brightly colored, not faded, clean, furniture was nice, etc. I had a funny reaction to the bath products so they didn't affect me much. We paid for the fridge which was a good convenience to have (we ate breakfast in the room) and even better because they forgot to get it to us until the 2nd day so we got it for free as an apology.

The sink area has a nice big mirror and plenty of counter space, and is separate from the toilet/shower/tub area so two people can get ready at once.

We were in parks from an hour or so after opening till closing every day so I just needed a place to lay down my head and shower and for $82 a night it was a steal. The only thing I would suggest is if noise bugs you, check Mousesavers and the ESPN sites and see if there are any big band/cheerleading competitions going on during your travel time. I think they tend to stay in Movies and Music first, then Sports, but it would be good to know if you should be expecting teenagers in advance. We had none, the entire resort was silent. I'd do it again easily.

If you had to choose which one would you go back to Riverside or Sports?

I'm looking forward to our Disney "adventure" and All Star Music.
I said "how bad" since our TA used to call the values "the projects" but that was 6 years ago and now the mods have gotten a bit pricey for what's offered.... especially with ticket prices as they are. I'm glad we were able to get the FD.

There is a nice video here to watch in case you haven't seen it yet. Huge difference from luxury deluxe? Of course. "the projects"? Not even close :goodvibes
