tell me about AK vouchers....

I have read a little about them and this evening going through some posts I have h eard they are such a great deal.....What are the specifics....how do they work? how much are they? what are they good for? and where? How about vouchers for other parks? is it just AK that has them?

The Animal Kingdom "Meal Plus" certificate allows you one counter service entree plus a beverage at any of the following Animal Kingdom counter service restaurants: Restaurantosaurus, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, or Tusker House. There is also a coupon for a box of popcorn or an ice cream bar, and another coupon for a bottled drink. The cost is $11.99 plus tax for adults and $5.99 plus tax for kids. Kids' certificates can only be redeemed for kids' menu items, by the way. The certificates can be purchased at any Animal Kingdom counter service restaurant and also at Guest Relations in the park. The certificates were started as an experimental program last summer, and were extended through the fall and early winter. The program could be discontinued at any time, but if you can take advantage of it, it's a very good deal.

We bought the meal plus vouchers and while it can be a great deal, they're not foolproof. We got the coupons when we wanted a snack and planned to use the meal portion later. When we were looking for a late lunch, all, or at least most of the restaurants were closed, before park closing. The closing times were on the daily guide but not highlighted with arrows and my name, so I didn't see them until too late.
On the plus side, a CM accepted our lunch coupon for a box of popcorn (snack of our choice).
