Tell me about Airtran

Our seats are together. When I checked the plane to see if I wanted to change our seats, most of the seats were empty. I checked in with Air Tran exactly at the 24 hour mark.

you can go on-line and check-in 24 hrs before your flight. You can then put in your info and pick your seats. NOW, people are saying that when they do this their seats are all ready assigned but you can change them if you want We use them all the time but havn't since they started this new seating so I don't know just how it works out.

We flew AT from BUF to MCO in November. I went on line 24 hours in advance and our seats for 5 (2 adults, 3 young children) were preassigned and all together.

On the way back I had the concierge desk at POR get our seats the day before we flew home. Again, the seats were preassigned but were all together.

Overall a good experience and we will use them again.

You can check in 24 hours in advance even when buying the tickets online getting cheap rates. Make sure to go online exactly 24 hours before your flight. You will see that they have assigned your seats and generally keep your family together but you do not have to keep those seats. We used them a few weeks ago and this was the case but I wanted seats closer to the door so I just checked the box where it says to chose your seats and changed them. No problem! This has always worked this way. I love Airtran because I like to chose we to sit and they let you.

Maybe the flights were full but the last several flights that my daughter and I have taken there were not seats to switch to. I checked in exactly at the 24 hour mark also.
