Tell me about AAA?

My DH would kill me if he knew I was posting this question, given that we are going to WDW in 56 days... but....

How much to join AAA? How do I find out the prices for a AAA package for May?

I want to book a trip (as a graduation gift to myself! :goodvibes ) and I want to get the best deal possible...

Well I'm new to the "AAA" thing. I just joined moments ago. DH and I are going to WDW in Feb. Well I was booked through CRO w/ a basic package before the packages were released today, at ASMU for 3 nights at $318.56. Well the membership for AAA was $60 but we were able to book an AAA rate through CRO for 4 nights at only $297. So we are staying an extra night for less $ than before. This discount allowed us to come out ahead even w/ the membership fee.

Now I just need to find out where to go from here. Should I purchase everything seperately or call AAA tomorrow and book a package through them? :confused3

The AAA discount is on the room.

If you book through Disney for the AAA room discount- you book a "room only" and your tickets seperately. (you cannot purchase the dining plan though for that you need to book a package)

If yo book through AAA- you can book a package with tickets and should be able to add on the dining plan. (no discounts are given though other than the room)

I've been told it is the same price by purchasing seperately vs. package.

Policy for a room only- pay one nights deposit upon booking, and the rest is due upon check in. Cancellation policy is penalty of deposit (one nights stay)
Policy for booking a package- $200 deposit and balance due 45 days before check in. $100 cancellation penalty if cancelled from 45 days-7 days. $200 penalty if cancelled within the 7 day before travel.

That was the impression I was getting, but wasn't sure then, why everyone was waiting for AAA packages. The only thing I'm thinking, if you buy your tickets separately, and then Disney comes out with some great deal on a package, you won't be able to switch...right? And does AAA ever offer a better deal on their package, over and above the room discount?

Will AAA have the 2007 package rates as well now? I just called their 1-800 # and the girl said that the AAA package rates won't be in until mid-September. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks!

I wish I could help by answering some of the other questions posted here... but the best I can do is post another question. :teeth:

Soooo.... is what I am understanding correct? There's little or no price difference between booking with Disney and booking with AAA as far as the AAA discounts go?

If I were to book through AAA (because we are in love with the dining plan and would want the package deal!), is there any chance I could book for May in a month or two? Or am I to understand that since the AAA rates for then just came out, I'd have to hop on it now or miss out?

I know that when you book through Disney, you have to buy at least one MYW base ticket per person to qualify for the dining. Is this the same for AAA? Or can I use existing no exp. tickets and just get the room and dining plan with AAA?

Is there anything more annoying than a person who hits you with a barrage of questions and has little to offer in return?

Soooo sorry all of your questions haven't been answered as of yet, but I am sure someone will come along shortly. :teeth:

As for your question regarding the AAA Magic Your Way With Dining....Yes, you still need to purchase at least the one day basic ticket. The same as with booking through Disney.

As for your quesiton regarding AAA rates being the same as Disney, well all I can tell you is that in my experience I have found that AAA comes in at least $200-400 lower than Disney.

Hopes that help alittle! :goodvibes

AAA rates are less expensive than regular "rack" rates. What I was saying is that you can book a AAA discount through disney directly for a "room only" discount.

The only way to include a dining plan is if you purchase a package.

Whether that package be a regular package through disney(Disney does not offer AAA packages),

or a package w/ the AAA discount through a AAA office.

You cannot book a "room only AAA discount" through Disney and apply a dining package to it...

Hope this helped :rotfl:

Indeed it did! Thanks so much! :teeth:

Here are the discount rates from the top of my mind:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.
During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.
During Peak Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.
The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas).

OK I'm still wondering.... I have AAA but I booked my package through Disney in hopes that they will come out with some fabulous code discount. AAA discount was about $200. Also do you get perfered treatment as far as room requests if you book with Disney directly?

No special treatment.... what you can do is still book through Disney, but book the AAA room only discount.(can't book a aaa package through disney) That way if there is a promo you can still change it, plus you'll get the discount on the room.

Yeah I tought about that but we want hoppers with the dining package too. I just wonder if we should take the gamble and wait for a code. We are going the week after Thanksgiving. :confused3

If you are sure that you want the dining plan, I would say book with AAA now. You can not book at package with the dining plan that includes AAA discount through Disney, BUT if a code does come out that is better than the AAA discount, your AAA agent can still apply it.

From what I can see, if you already have AAA and know you want a package with dining plan, booking through AAA is a no lose situation for you.

OK , I hope this answers a few of your questions, it cost me 59.00 to join AAA. I saved 300.00 last year and received an upgrade I was not aware of in addition to the AAA discount. I also received a grat Micket beach towel, silly yes but heck it was neat! DH loved the AAA parking pass, if you are driving your own car it may be a bonus for you. The parking is right upfront near the handicapped! DH LOVED THAT!!!! His favorite momento is the parking pass too funny. I had a problem at one of the parks and AAA got Disney off their duff! Thank goodness I used AAA, was very frustrated with the situation. Your AAA TA will make your ADR's as well!

The added bonus for me is AAA discounts I can receive at other hotels, restaurants and even 15 dollars off re renewing my car registration! Many of your local businesses also utilize AAA, car rentals too!

Good Luck and happy planning whatever you decide, hope I gave you some info!

Have a great trip!

OK! you have convinced me!!!!!I called Disney this morning to ask if there was any benifits to book thru them and she said basically that you can deal directly with them. OK. And that saves me $$$$ how? I'm going to AAA in the A.M. I WOULD LOVE A FREE BEACH TOWEL TOO!!!!!

How did you get your AAA membership for only $59?? When I looked it was $67 to join as a new member?
