Just discovered that my MK day (Oct 14) is a 7am EMH. Ugh! Too late to switch my days around due to 7DMT and FEA fps. And our trip is only 4 days/4 parks.
So what is a 7am opening like at MK? How busy will it be at 7? The sun doesn't even rise until 715am that day lol
Is also our MNSSHP day. Going to be a loooong day if we do 7am to midnight!

It's rope drop, it'll be just like any rope drop crowd but probably take a little longer to get more crowded than a later opening...

and yes, that's a long day if your donig mnsshp. I walk about 50% more during mnsshp from the trick or treating than a normal evening of similar length.

If you're staying on site and can partake I definitely would. A 7am EMH will not be busy as it's so early and most people won't want to get up that early. If you can get your family up that early and be at the park by like 6:45, you'll benefit pretty good by low wait times for about 3 hours. Then if need be, take a break from the park to nap then return in the afternoon and do the mnsshp

We are doing the 7am thing on October 7 and can report back! My plan is to leave Poly around 6:30/6:40 and stay at the MK until 11am or so! We will not have any FP that morning but I think if we are really there at 7 - we won't miss them!

Also - remember not every ride is open for EMH, so make sure you are aware of that going in! I am not sure if my crew is going to race to try and do 7DMT in the dark or space mountain a few times in a row to start our day!

I'll be at disney same time frame as you. I considered doing the 7am Rope Drop on the 14th BUT to be honest...not sure i can pull it off. Im doing mnsshp on the 13th. I always stay til midnight. So there's just no way i'll have the energy to wake up that early. Stranger things have happened though. If I find myself awake, I could easily go for about 3 hours, then come back to the resort and nap before mnsshp. Most likely that wont happen...but as i said, stranger things have happened with me. Honestly if you can pull it off, i'd go. It will be low crowds, and you can get a lot done. If your not a napper and you know you wont nap before mnsshp, then i'd just skip it. Being tired during mnsshp isnt any fun.

7 am will be great. There won't be many people there and you will get a ton done and it will be a blast being in the park before it's fully light *and being there when the sun goes down that night. Just the pictures alone will make it worth getting up.

If it was my family we would try to arrive around 6:40, get everything done we can until about 11, grab lunch in the park then go back for a rest/nap and probably leave the resort again around 4 to head back. Since we would have gotten so much done in the morning I wouldn't feel like we had to be there as soon as they start letting party guests in. I tend to be more go go go before lunch and have a much more relaxed touring style after break in general anyway though.

When are your fast passes? 7DMT especially
We have a BOG lunch at 1130 and then our fp for 7DMT is 1205-105. Im just afraid that even leaving after lunch won't give us much of a break by the time we get back to the resort and want to return to beat the MNSSHP people coming at 4.

I have the same issue as you....on the 13th im attending MNSSHP, and I also have a FP for 7DMT at 1205-105. Im going back to the resort to rest and to slip into my costume etc. I wont have much time to rest but hey, its something at least. :)

At this point, most planners are probably like you and can't move their days around. The park will be a bit more crowded throughout the day, because some people will take advantage of that early hour. However, those that do will probably be leaving by noon or 1:00. AND there will be lots of people who don't do MK at all that day because of MNSSHP. Even the early hour won't be enough to entice them to do the park without having access to the nighttime hours.

So, my thought is to keep your plans the way they are and get to MK at whatever time you had planned before. You have your FP+ and you'll have the party to do attractions as well.

We don't usually do morning EMH so I had previously moved everything around to avoid it. Being so close it's just too hard for me to do that again. If it weren't for FEA and 7DMT I might consider it. Or if we were there more than 4 days. I am going to shoot for 7am and if it's 730 I won't be stressing. I think heading to GF or Contemp. to lounge in their lobby is a great idea!

We're doing the 7 am opening Oct. 7. I'm not a morning person, but I know how great an 8 am opening is. So I can imagine a 7 am is even better. Hoping it's magical!

There is no "ugh" about this. The lines will still be at their shortest before 11:00am or noon, so even if you go early you can just use that time to enjoy attractions with the shortest lines of the day. Even if EMH attracts more people, the effect on your crowd experience is usually not as great as people think -- particularly if you choose all the stuff with shorter lines in the morning. Have a great time!

All our days the week before Christmas got moved to 7 am, and we tried to make RD one day but DD 13 was not moving, but we ended up there around 7:30, and it was great. I think the initial people had disbursed, and we got some great shots on Main St. pretty empty. Park was definitely slow for a couple hours. Of course it messed up my PPO brft plans at CP, but got lucky and was able to move it to late brft a few nts before. I know it is frustrating when they change things so close when you have carefully planned ever way in advance. But I think even if you don't make RD you will still have a good less crowded park for a few hrs.

Is there an early magic hour or has the park time opening just been changed? Two very different things. Two years ago our park opening time was changed from 8 am to 7 am for several days we were there. Made no difference. It just felt like 8 am normal rope drop. Crowd levels were the same. Luckily we were checking something a couple weeks before our trip and just happened to notice the changed times. It's on our radar for this year's trip.

Oct 14th is also our MK morning. Regular park opening had been 9, with EM from 8-9. Now park opens at 8, with Em from 7-8. I'm really worried about the family getting up that early. We don't have late night plans on the 13th, so that will help. However, we're going to the 8:30 Club Villain that night, on 10/14, and had planned to arrive early at HS for SW fireworks. Also, a long day.

You won't even need that 7DMT fast pass. Take advantage of 7am EMH. Get there by 6:45. Ride mine train first. Then ride everything else on your wish list. Stay for your 11:30 lunch and then go back to the resort for a break. You could also keep checking and snag a breakfast ADR or an earlier lunch ADR at BOG to leave even earlier.
