Looks like a WDW trip is definitely in the works for December, but my wife likes the idea of staying at the Nickelodeon hotel. I spoke with them about 15 minutes ago and it does seem great for my 5 year olds.

I figure that they can get the best of both worlds if we go here.... Disney and Sponge Bob! ( I love that guy! )

Plus, and I am guessing, with a 7 night stay, it is less expensive than most of the WDW resorts..... kids always eat free! It would be about $1100 for a 7 night stay and it includes all the shuttles we need to WDW, Seaworld, and Universal.

Any thoughts on this place? Thanks!

All I know is it used to be a Holiday Inn Family Suites. I stayed there just after it opened. It was fine. It's right down the street from where I stayed when I was there in May. It's REALLY colorful! It's a big place too. Very close to the east entrance to WDW. The closest parks are MGM and EPCOT. AK and MK are a little farther but still not a bad drive. Also, it's right at I-4 and a short ride to SW and UA/IOA

$1100 for 7 nights is $157/night. For that much money you could stay on site but the kids don't eat for free unless you got in of the free meal plan.

Ok, that is good to know.... but they won't get Sponge Bob! :teeth:

There was a discussion about this hotel on another board (could be the Orlando hotels one) and there were pages and pages of both complaints and praise for it. I would suggest trying one of the other boards!

I have 2 friends w/ young children who have stayed there w/in the past 6 months. They both said the kids wanted to stay at the hotel all day & didn't want to go to Disney. They rented cars, so I don't know abt the shuttle. They said the food was fine. Nothing "fancy" or gormet. They also said the rooms were fine, geared towards kids/families. It was nice having 2 rooms.

Kids LOVE this place. Depending on the suite or room you get you get space AND privacy.

We stayed there when it was the HIFS, also and my son has been begging to go back. The prices during the times we can go are outrageous. I remember spending $60 a night for it back then! Do a search, there are lots of posts on it, good and bad. I think for 5yos it will be the bomb!

Stayed there last summer for 3 nights in a 2br...4 kids 13, 12, 10, 8 and they LOVED IT. Except for Jimmy Neutron in the kids BR, it's a pretty bland room. BUT the pools and the food court and the characters make the kids so happy.
