I'm not sure where to post this question, since it's not one of the 4 main parks, but it's still a Disney park...

Anyways, DS17, DS13 and DS11 want to go to DisneyQuest while we're in Orlando in Feb. I personally don't want to go again (kind of time and money I don't want to spend) and was wondering if they are okay to be there on their own. DS17 is very responsible and DS13 is very mature for his age. I feel that as long as they stick together and have their cell phones with them everything should be fine. I would probably drop them off and go to DTD to shop in peace, so I'd be fairly close by if they need me (of course, I'd have my phone with me).

What do you think? Are there any policies against this that I don't know about? TIA

As long as you think they'll be fine, they will. I let my kids do just about everything on their own during the day, if they like (DD17, DS15). They have cellphones, have always been responsible, and I'm a short walk (or ride, I don't limit myself to sticking that close during daylight hours) away.

At night, I get a little more restrictive, but would still let them go in and do their own thing...I'd just make sure to meet up with them outside when they're done.

Thanks Ursula! I probably should have mentioned that they'll be going when DQ opens in the AM and leaving by 5PM, so night time isn't a consideration. I think I'll let them go - they'll probably have more fun without me anyway!

It was fun and your kids will enjoy it but we went through the whole building in a little over 3 hours. I guess it depends when you go but we got there at opening in the middle of January (the 11th to be exact) on a bright and sunny day. The parks were pretty empty and DQ couldnt have been emptier. :woohoo:

We let DS17 and DS14 go off to DQ on their own last summer and they were fine. They had cell phones with them, and they went and came back together. I think they went separates ways a few times once they were inside DQ. I think your DSs will be fine, maybe just make sure your DS11 stayed with one of his older brothers :sunny:

Just tell them to stick together and not leave the building. If you can count on them to do that, they'll be fine.

Just make sure you have a way to tell them to "come out" either by a meeting time in the Emporium downstairs, or via cell phone.

Reminder: There are NOT clocks inside, so they would need to watch their own time.

It can be somewhat loud in some parts of the building - enough to muffle a cell phone in a pocket. They probably won't hear it ring, so put it in vibrate!

They do not call out names over a PA system inside the building - they only have one for emergency purposes only. They don't have a PA system to tell Johnny to come outside.

"Attention All DisneyQuest Guests... Would Little Johnny Smith please come to the exit area, Your mother is waiting for you.... " uhm...no...

My youngest DS has been going to DQ by himself since he was 12. He has done fine with a time to meet us in the shop and a cell phone. They will enjoy themselves and you'll enjoy the time to spend for yourself. :thumbsup2

They'll be fine. On the back of the DisneyQuest brochure it says "Guests under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years of age or older." So all of them could 'officially' go by themselves if they wanted to.

As for the cell phones, it's almost impossible to hear a ring in there, if it has the vibrate feature, use that instead!!

also I should mention with all the metal in the building the cell phones do not work all that well so if your child is not answering dont get mad keep trying it may not be his fault. and as other people said use the vibrate feature! it is very loud in that building. They should be fine just make sure they stay togetther at least the younger one with one of the older ones.
