How old do you think they should be before they can explore the parks by themselves? I have two 15 year old twins which I believe can go off by themselves at times while we are there. Any suggestions?

Assuming your 15 yo twins are responsible and will stay together I think that's old enough to go off on their own. I would recommend some ground rules like they need to let you know where they are going and if those plans change. They should also have a way to keep in touch with you and you should designate and time/place to meet each day. IMO Disney is a very safe place to allow kids to spread their wings a little.

We have let our 3 ds go off by themselves but they must follow our family rules, staying together in the same place, not leaving without all 3, using their room keys to charge only acceptable things like food, or an inexpensive souvenier etc. They have never disappointed us and always arrive back at the curfew time etc. Our ds are 16,14 and 12. Just set limits and let them know what is and is not acceptable and that this is a privlege they earn, not a right!

I too think that 15 year olds should be fine with some alone time at WDW. They will enjoy the freedom and so will you!!!

Enjoy the trip.
