Teenage Tour Group Nudity at ASMo Pool

Exactly.I have travelled to other countries and as an AMERICAN visitor I am expected to behave and conform and be respectful of cultural norms, and I do.If I didn't I am sure I would be labeled as an ugly, ignorant American. But yet other countries come here and anything goes...I think the problem is that alot of the other countries find the USA ridiculously prudish about the human body, at least that is what my friend from italy has told me.They see nothing wrong with stripping down and don't understand why we get so uptight about nudity

Italy isn't the only country that wonders why citizens of the USA are so concerned with the matters...

I think the easiest thing to do would be to call 911 report the problem and watch the managers come a running!

and maybe a local TV station!

that is exactly what I would have done. After all it is illegal to be nude in public. I can't imagine that Disney would be OK with this. But I guess they have become more tolerant over time.

sounds like a great fox expose story to me!!!!:scared1:

I wonder what the police would do if you called 911? Any FL residents care to conjecture?

Did you complain to a manager and let them know about the lifeguards. Until we all complain nothing is going to change.

Perhaps some of the letters should be addressed to Iger.

Yes, it was reported to management (with no results) :confused3 and the life guards WERE male  I DID write customer relations as soon as we returned home...received a call and compensation for our stay. Oh, and NO, there were no chaperones anywhere to be found...trust me! I bet we only seen maybe 4 in the 2 days we were there (and they were in their own little world not paying attention to or caring what the kids did). HOWEVER, that is not the point...the point is WHY is this tolerated by WDW and WHY do these kids think it is "cute" or "ok" to do these things at the expense of other guests. We would have liked to have enjoyed our evening at the pool before dinner too...without having to explain to our 6 year old son why these girls felt it was ok to tear each others suits off (and our poor 14 year old daughter was SO embarrassed!!). :sad2:

As you see in my earlier post, yes, it was reported to management and told that the lifeguards were witness to the situation but did nothing...I honestly think they (the resort management staff) were having so many complaints with this group they were running themselves ragged and very frustrated (clogging the lobby with kids sitting wall-to-wall in main walk ways seemed to be a big problem anytime we went in or near the lobby...MAJOR fire code violation, mind you!).

:sad2: That's just so wrong, and the lifeguards (male or female) should have called security, at the very least!!!

I had friend stay at ASMovies from July 17-23. They had to move resorts due to the awful behavior from these groups. The first night, after the pool had closed, there were people from this group in the pool till 3 am. They were running around screaming, knocking on doors and being completely terrible. My friend called security, nothing changed. She then went to the front desk and was told to call security. She explained she had already done that. The front desk man told her there was nothing he could do. The next night, the same things happened, then the prank calls started. Every 5 mins. these kids would call and say something, giggling, then hang up. She unplugged her phone. By midnight, she was fed up and went to the front desk. This manager was very nice and told her they were having problems with this group. They had 1700 (either people or rooms) booked with this group. He comp'ed her for the previous night, then moved she and her family to CSR. This was their first stay. I would have been so upset.

Wow, I'm not a prude by any means but I just can't quite imagine something like this happening at Disney World! I hope when we go we manage to avoid anything like that!

Oh great!:sad2:

We're staying at ASMo starting this Thursday. All this news about how terrible the tour groups are there is starting to put a damper on my vacation and I am not even there yet.

I have no desire to put up with their nonsense and don't think I should have to.

Ugh, this is disgusting. I'm sorry, but when Americans go to another country we are expected to conform to their socieital rules, people who visit from other countries should be expected to do the same. It is not acceptable for 14-15 year old girls to be nude in public, and I absolutely would have complained to the management, and if it weren't addressed, I would absolutely go up the chain. Unacceptable. Girls that young exposing themselves is unacceptable anywhere, even if these were legal adults, this isn't South Beach in Miami, this is Disney.

So true!

Personally Disney has known about this for years and chooses to do nothing about it. If there were 64,000 kids in one group, that is big money for Disney. And it happens with Pop Warner and other groups of kids. Since when did it become a God given right for huge groups of teens to descend upon WDW?

Bottom line, when some incident like this one is recorded, put on Youtube or some Dateline program expose style with "Disney isn't for families anymore" Disney might do something about it then.

I have seen the chanting thing on Youtube, maybe somebody caught this too and will put it on there. To me its like these kids from Brazil are a long ways from home and it gets to be a "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" type mentality.

The management at All Star Movies who were there and did nothing should be fired for allowing kiddie porn to happen at their pool.

If you have one problem, demand to be moved to another resort.

Is it some sort of holiday over there? We were just on a Royal Caribbean cruise last week (now working on planning a WDW trip! ) and had a very similar sounding group of teen girls. They affectionately became known by the adults on the ship as "the girls" which was usually accompanied by a sarcastic tone or eyes rolling. They were horribly ill mannered, rude to everyone on board and the majority seemed to be out to make a nuisance of themselves. DH suggested we avoid future vacations to FL during this time of year if it is a holiday because we saw another very large group of them getting on the next sailing and yet another in the airport that looked to be returning from Disney.

I think the biggest problem is that Disney makes a ton of money on these groups. These groups all return home and tell everyone what a wonderful time in WDW they had...so other huge groups head there to do the exact same thing. Disney must figure that it is worth it to tick off x number of 'regular' guests in order to keep those hundreds of members of tour groups happy. The right thing to do? Nope, but we all know that Disney is all about the bottom line.
This is one reason I won't stay at the values unless I absolutely have to. And I love Pop. But I really don't want to have to deal with that at my resort. It's one thing to have to deal with it in the parks...but at night, I want to relax and get a good night's sleep. Not happening with a group like that around.

But how much would I have to pay to move to another resort? Would they charge me if I move to Pop? Are the tour groups there also?

Pop is $5 a night more than the All Stars so if you are okay with that, you could change it now.

If however you go and a problem arises they need to make it right and you should tell them you booked the resort you can afford and you don't want to pay more to escape the mess they created for you when they allow these groupls of kids to behave badly.

I love the All Stars but I will not stay in them when these tour groups are apt to be there. I would call Disney directly and explain your worries, what you have read on the internet and see what they say. And ask for a supervisor if you don't get the results you want.

Chances are your stay would be fine, and yet these reviews and stories are nothing new, nothing isolated. I hate to see anyone worrying about this type of thing and having their anticipation ruined.

All three All Stars book these groups, to my knowledge Pop does not. At least not to the extent the All Stars do.

Its their winter break I believe (southern hemisphere, opposite season). As I understand it, these groups started as part of the Quinceanera tradition of treating young girls to a trip around the world. Its now evolved quite commonly to a trip around "Walt Disney World". They get fairly cheap group packages and with the exchange rate being very much in favor of the Brazilian currency its a good deal for parents to send their daughters off to WDW.

You see these groups in January when its their summer break and in July.

They generally stay at the All Stars but can make the parks a total nightmare when they link arms, chant, clap and send one person to get 100 fastpasses at a time.

Thank you for your help. I don't mind spending $5 more a night. We are leaving Thursday, so I don't want to make a change now. Plus, ASMo is the place my kids and I really wanted to stay for the theming. Maybe we will get lucky and not have a bad experience. :wizard: Maybe they will start to thin out to since we are heading into August.

However, if they do ruin my stay at ASMo, I will complain and ask to be moved to another resort.

Thanks for your help!
