Hello all, My DD age 15, will be celbrating her Sweet 16 at WDW. We are staying at the Poly. Here's my ?: Would it be OK for her and her sister, age 11 to get on the monorail from our hotel and go to MK by themselves ? Never did this before. Will the folks taking tickets even allow this ? Has anyone out there done this type of thing with their children ? We have a DS, age 5 with Down Syndrome and will let the girls get a head-start on us, and we will meet them at MK about 45 minutes - 1 hour later, cell phones on the whole time. Let me know what you think, especially from your own past experience. Thanks in advance.:hippie:

I think this would be completely reasonable, assuming your daughters generally get along. It's basically impossible for them to get lost on the monorail, and as long as they know their way around the park they'll be fine. Heck, she's turning 16- that means she will be driving around town without you soon enough! Might as well let her get a taste of being on her own in the relative safety of WDW.

I think it is fine too and I'm an over protective parent. DS is 13 and I would definately let him go from the Poly to MK if he were with a friend or sibling. I guess it depends on your kids. There are lots of CM's (not to mention other parents) around if they needed anything.

No problem at all. I'd also let them go off in the park by themselves to if they want to do some of the rides your DS can't do. My DD 14 came back by herself on the bus from Epcot to POP one day last August.

I'm assuming they have been to MK before? If they haven't, it might be intimidating to deal with the set-up as they enter, depending on her self-confidence. Otherwise, I agree it's no big deal! :thumbsup2

Heck ya
in 2002 DS 10 got himself back onboard the Magic from Castaway Cay!

the WDW parks are easy enough to navigate
