There are so many posts about making sure toddlers get time to nap at some point in the day, but does anyone have a teen who needs the same thing?

We are doing the P&PP but will be in EPCOT during the day. Our ADR is at 2:40. I'm seriously thinking about leaving the park after we eat and going back to the room so DS13 can nap. I know it's his age, but I swear the boy would sleep 24/7 if I'd let him. I'm sure if we don't do this, by 10pm, he's gonna be moping around like his dog died.

Does anyone else do this for teens?

We have basically all teens, youngest is 11 and yes, we always go back in the middle of day before dinner and rest. I think I need it more than them!
I love my kids but even WDW and teens don't always mix some days.

My family would always go back to the resort for a break, even once us kids got to be teens/young adults. My parents always told us we could swim, watch TV, nap, read whatever and even though we always insisted we weren't tired...we all ended up napping! I think WDW drains everyone, kids & adults of all ages, and especially when you know you've got late night plans, a nap is a must!

Take him back to the resort and tell him you're all going to rest. He may protest, but once he stretches out on that nice comfy bed... :rolleyes1

My 15 year old just came in my room, turned out the light and announced he is taking a nap on my bed!:rolleyes1 .

In reality when we have a late night planned at WDW, DH has to have a nap but DS and I really like it too. Teens are so into naps!!!!!!

I saw a special on TLC a few years ago about teenagers. It said that teenagers need more sleep than they did when they were 10 years old. The amount of sleep that teenagers need rivals the amount that 5 year olds need (it was something like that - don't quote me). They may look like adults, so people seem to think that teenagers are just lazy for sleeping so much. In reality, teenagers really do need a lot of sleep. They are just growing so fast at that time, and it wears them out. It was really a fascinating show, and I wish that they would show it again. They showed brain scans of teenaged boys to illustrate how a certain part of their brain isn't developed. It was the part of the brain that figure out cause/effect or something before they make the decision. It is where I learned that the human brained isn't fully grown until age 25 (so I tell DD that she can't get married until she is 25!).

WDW can wear anyone out, so take a rest if they need it.

Have a great trip!

My preteen definately needs an afternoon rest or he's terrible to be around LOL.

Wow, that really IS interesting. I would love to see that show. He is doing so many things lately that are textbook for his age! It's funny, heartbreaking (because he's growing up), annoying and, at times, infuriating :headache: ! I'm glad it's normal!

We have little ones, too, so we always have a reason to drag our teens back to the room. We tell them they can go to the pool, watch TV, or sleep.

I bet you can guess what they pick everytime! :lmao:

DD9 (and DH and I) really benefit from an afternoon. DD will often fall asleep at WDW--the only place she still naps. Enjoy!

Wow! I wish my 3 teenage girls would take a nap but those days are long gone! GO GO GO.... that's all they know when they are at the Happiest Place on Earth.
:santa:

My teen naps at disney.... rule is everyone lays down for an hour those who choose can get up an go for a swim for an hour after their nap those that chooses to sleep another hour may do so.

DD 17 usually readys the 1st couple of days rather than napping that hour but after the 3rd day she is usually sleepin along with mom and dad.
