Anyone have suggestion for older teen girls that are getting tired of Disney. Something in the area that might make going to Florida again more appealing. Mom, dad and little brother still love Disney but they are bored with it.

My daughter is now 16 (going on 17) and has been visiting WDW since she was 9 months old. She and her mother love to take off and go shopping at the outlets or Downtown Disney and then have tea that afternoon at the Grand Floridian. However, she still likes to ride all the roller coasters with good ol' Dad!

Have you tried spending a few days onsite at Universal? You mentioned that your girls are older teens and they may just find that Universal is more their speed. Also, the front of the line benefit (fotl) that comes from staying onsite eliminates most of what detracts from theme parks - lines.

I'd stay at the Hard Rock at US. It is very cool!:thumbsup2 US resorts have buses to Sea World, too. There is alot do do at US. They have the 2 parks, plus CityWalk. The pool area are great. They have a poolside resturant so you can lunch in your suits.

Maybe do a split stay, 4 days at WDW, then 3 at US.

Teens - not just girls - seem to tire of Disney as they outgrow the little kids stuff. The "big rides" at Disney just haven't stayed current although some are forever classics. Our daughter long ago declared her preference for Universal/Busch Gardens over Disney as they have "all the cool rides and roller coasters". Fine with us - Disney is far too expensive now days. Especially compared to those very reasonably priced parks. We have annual passes there and just use an old pass day now and then for a quick Disney stop.

Royal Pacific Resort at Universal is awesome.

You could also add a Disney cruise onto the trip-- lots for teens there.

Another vote for Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure - as per our usual approach, we spent time at both WDW and US/IOA on our last trip in March 2007. At the end of our time at US/IOA our almost 13 and 11 years olds declared that they would be very happy just to come there next time and skip WDW entirely! We stayed onsite at the Hard Rock Hotel and between the hotel, the rides (which are much more geared toward teens) and the front of the line privileges you get when you stay at an onsite hotel, it was a very fun, non-stressful few days. I love WDW and always will want to spend some time during our vacations there, but from now on with the kids at the age they are I think we will now be doing a mix of the two that is more weighted toward US/IOA....

We were just there this summer with teens and hands down Universal/IOA and Busch Gardens were the favorites for that age group.

I am going through the same thing with my DD14. This year she and I are going to the Tampa Bay area instead and plan to spend a day or two at Busch Gardens. She is tired of "the whole princess thing".

My daughter (20 now) has really preferred US/IOA for the last several years. I love both of them.

We stayed at the Royal Pacific in November and loved it. The front of the the line access (with our room key) was a great perk. DD would have enjoyed the Hard Rock Hotel, but it was more expensive.

US/IOA has a great ticket deal - 7 days for $85.99 (unlimited admission to both parks).

My daugther (now 18) likes to just hang out at the resort and read by the pool. Then there is always kid/teen activities at the resort. And yes, outlet mall shopping is always a big hit.

Have you considered a Disney cruise? DH, DD and I started getting Disney'd out (DH especially) a couple years ago so for something different we did the 3-day cruise and we had a great time, since then DD14 and I have done a girls only 3-day and we have a 7-day booked for 09 on the Magic. With the cruise you have all the Disney touches but it's not "in your face" as much as being in the theme parks all day every day so you would still have your Disney fix but I'm sure the whole family would LOVE Castaway Cay, even the teen girls. And there's much more besides Castaway Cay that I'm sure your girls would enjoy, both on the ship and at the ports.
