Okay with the Nuge in the news, I keep hearing him called a rock legend. Granted I grew up in the 70s and 80s, I only remember one good song and a few okay ones. There's a good chance I am simply out of it and I admittedly know nothing about playing guitar. So if someone could given me an answer on whether he is a guitar icon and a "legend", please let me know.

Funny that this "legend" will be performing at the itty bitty local no-name county fair this summer by us!! ;)

A legend in his own mind..... LOL And I don't mean that in a political way...

I have known his name for as long as I can remember, and I know "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Free-For-All", but that sums it up for my Ted Nugent knowledge. He could come to my door right now, and I would have no idea who he was. And I bet at least 90% of people under 40 have never heard of him or his songs.

I wouldn't call that a legend.

I think he's very popular with the hunting enthusiasts. :)

That's what always comes to mind when I hear him called a legend. His ego far exceeds his musical talent, and these days he's best known for his mouth... He may have been a guitarist years ago, but right now I'd rank him right there with Howard Stern as a professional loudmouth. :lmao:

We grew up listening to him. Saw him in concert in 1980. He put on a good show.

Pretty sure he's famous for being a mysogenist. The minor Rock and Roll portion of his life and the 'take my gun from my dead, cold fingers' part are only secondary to his ego fed, sexist pig personality. He's a crazy, dirty creep. That, of course, is my humble opinion. I'm sure there will be the predictable backlash on this post.

Rock legend in this house...."Stranglehold" is a staple in our car. He is coming to St. Louis to play with Styx and REO.

As far as his hunting ways & recent comments at the NRA convention here in St. Louis, this is where I part ways with him.

He does have some good conservation ideas ideas however. And while I do not hunt, I do agree with his some of his philosophies.

He's not a never was or a one hit wonder. But he wasn't ever a top tier rock star. Maybe a second tier or third tier star. But that's it.

He seems to have or have had an affinity for girls too young to put it mildly. Google the lyrics to "Jail Bait" or "Girl Scout Cookies." or "Little Miss Dangerous." You can also search You Tube for a VH1 show Behind the music featuring him from 1998.

Yeah, he's a creepy pedophile, but somehow VH1 kinda made that seem charming. It's beyond my comprehension that people are treating him like some kind of role model.

DH and I are hunters, and just watching his shows, he just seems (to me at least) to just enjoy the kill a little too much. In kind of a creepy way:crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

Not a big fan of his.

I've been an active musician for close to 50 years and about the only way I know anything about him is through the NRA. I'd have to agree that his mouth far exceeds his talent and I don't see him as the best role model for the NRA, or much else. Now, if you want a legend from the 70s, try The Eagles. :thumbsup2

Why anyone pays any attention to the guy is beyond me. The funny thing is, when I first saw him on the TV the other day, I didn't know who he was. I thought he was that guy on Full Throttle Saloon that jumps off of bridges and stuff. Just goes to show how far his star has fallen. I mistook him for some guy on a reality show that does maybe 10 shows a year.

I would call him a legend just because he has been in the music biz for a very long time, like late 50's. Other than that, I got nothing to go with.

Maybe 60's? He was born in 1948. I remember him from the 70's.

I don't get how he is a good spokesman for hunters or gun rights either. Seems he is always breaking the laws and going or the easy kill. A good hunter is a sportsman and he seems to be a bad example - IMHO any way.:confused3

Musically, I believe (from what I have read) he only had one hit and it didn't make it past 30 or something on the charts. That doesn't make a legend in my mind.

He is basically known for his antics or he would have disappeared years ago.

I saw Ted a couple of times in the 80s. It was entertaining for the filthy language and the stage antics, but mostly it was really, really loud. With his activities during more recent times, I think "loud" may be his legacy. You can debate how good he is, or whether his opinions are right or wrong, but you gotta admit, he is loud.:)
