Now, I am not a conservative. Normally vote Democrat, don't like how some conservatives sneer down upon the word "liberal".

But what were Ted Kennedy's staffers thinking when his new book "My Senator and Me: A Dog's Eye View of Washington D.C." featured a dog named Splash?

His staffers probably weren't born when Sen. Kennedy made his infamous big splash in Chappaquiddick or they were too young to remember it. Anyway, it's a humorous coincidence.

Ted wrote the book to help children understand government after working with a children's reading program in Washington for the past five years. The dog is named after one of his two Portugese water dogs, Splash and Sunny. Good names for water dogs, I would think.

I saw this thread's talking point on Rush's site earlier and was wondering when it would show up.

Didn't know that they were named after his water dogs. I dont' listen to Rush though. Gee, what are his thoughts?

Sorry, Castle, seemed similar and I assumed that's where it came from. When I reread his quote I realized it was a bit different. And I don't really understand it, actually. Anyway, the legendary (in his own mind) el Rushbo said yesterday “Ted Kennedy has a dog named 'Splash.' Now, you can name your dog whatever you want to name your dog-- it's a free country-- but is he tone deaf?”

(I can't stand Rush, but I know a lot of people listen so I like to have an idea of what he's spewing.)

I hate Rush with a passion, but I think it's a creepy, not in the least bit humerous, coincidence. Someone should have realized that people would make that connection and been more careful.

Splash is a GREAT name for a Portuguese Water Dog.......unless your name is Ted Kennedy. Actually, Howie Carr was talking about it yesterday and there was a picture of the cover of the book in the paper this morning. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Old Kennedy must have bribed the illustrator to make him look younger and thin. :rotfl: :rotfl:

My favorite story was the "fake" Volkswagen ad that appeared in National Lapoon a few years ago. Volkswagens can float and there was a picture of one floating. Under the picture was the message;

If Ted Kennedy Drove a Volkswagen, He'd be president by now.

Volkswagen sued the NL and they withdrew the "ad".

Can you imagine if a republican with the same history as Ted Kennedy did the same sort of thing what the outcry would be? I can see Katie Couric frowning her eyebrows now asking some republican staffer how the senator could be so insensitive.....However, since its some liberal drunk no one in the mainstream media will ever mention it.

IMO, it just shows you how out of touch some people are. I mean please don't tell me it didn't cross Ted's mind that his nickname is " the swimmer". I guess only those who have big names and trust funds can get away with such things.
