Ok techies, I'm pretty techie but not sure of the most time and work efficient way to do this. I have an almost 4 year old laptop which has been my primary machine. I am migrating all my files to my new desktop (no issues or questions there). But what is the easiest way to move my Outlook items? I have folders and subfolders to move - I tried using the export pst to export the whole thing, but the resulting file is huge - zipped it is 97,723K. My old computer doesn't have a cd-burner, and i thought about emailing myself the file but would take so long on a modem (uploading and downloading). Thought about using FTP and storing the file in my web directory - again, the time factor over a modem.... Any other ideas?

The easiest way to move files is Sneaker Net, which means putting it on disk and walking over to the other computer. If the file is 97 MB, then it should fit into a Zip disk (if you have a zip drive). If you have a network card, you can establish a mini-network. You could use Direct Cable Connection, but that generally doesn't work with two operating systems (I assume your new and old computer have different operating systems).

If you have none of the above things, then zip the file the best you can and e-mail it to you. It may take a while for the file to come over on e-mail through dialup, but it may be your best option at this point.

If you've got an external Zip drive (if you don't, they're only $79.00), you should be able to save your files to that then simply connect the drive to your new computer and transfer them.
