Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Mel - I LOVE LOVE LOVE those tights. Once my butt gets smaller, I may have to get a pair... they fit my wacky personality (the one I am trying to get back, I have missed it!!).

Corrina - I am on the weight loss mode. Do we just post here?? I am down another pound as of yesterday!!!

I forget who asked about a cheese festival, well you see, I didn't want to go. It's basically a festival in this town near me where Colby cheese was created (Colby, WI). So they have bands, drinking, food, rides, games... all those things. All I know is I wanted some nachos before the food stand closed and this guy kept wanting to be by me!

Debra - CHEESE CURDS!! Oh baby. Next time I am near you I will bring some fresh ones. They are the bomb. And deep fried ones in beer batter are a heart attack waiting to happen and I don't CARE!!!! YUM! No wonder I am chubby... don't take away my cheese!

Since the team is renewing, I still have fabric left for those Ohana bandannas. I know I don't have enough for 20, but I have 6 or so. If anyone wants one still, PM me and I will let you know the cost to ship one to you. I can try to dig up a pic if you want to see one!

Jen - you can post it here if you want or PM me and I'll keep track and post team totals if you'd rather keep your numbers more on the down-low. Up to you. :) Congratulations on dropping another pound! Every pound is a victory.

Cheese Curds - mmmm. We have the Wisconsin store at the Mall of America - they get fresh cheese curds in there daily, the squeaky kind, of course. :)

Debra - I am going to try to be a good sport about the fishnets. I've got a few garments that hopefully won't look too revolting over them. So help me. If only I had another 8 weeks instead of 8 days.....

Mel: I love the tights and the picture-- where is that from?????

Jen: if you could find a pic of the bandanna, I'd love to see it

I have to admit the animal print stuff is a bit too much for me, maybe in lime green but certainly not in hot pink ;)

Deb: I vote to keep this thread-- who care if it gets long.

There's always runningfunky.com

OMG, they have lime green tiger! And skirts and capris! Mel, you rock! Too, too perfect! :rotfl2: Imagine, if you will, a team photo after seeing us all on the course in our WISH shirts and a selection of these lovelys....

Perhaps this
skunk-1.jpg
in this print?
LIMEGREENTIGER-1.jpg
(JenB, you asked for it....)

How about a capri

in zebra print?
IMG0171.jpg

Plus boas, bandanas, and headbands. Maybe some fishnets. I can see it all now.... :lmao: We would be the envy of everyone we know. I can definitely see doing the Circle of Life 5K in this....

I can do the lime zebra print, but a feather boa is right out of the question. I don't think I could run with one of those....it sounds too ticklish!

OMG, that site is amazing! I am so into those lime green tiger shorts. At my age, I don't care what anyone says or thinks about me. I am very close to ordering them but will hold off just in case we want to come up with an Ohana uniform and it's something different.

Jackie: sorry, but I won't see you at the KKC this weekend. I read in the N&O that they are over their cap of 5,000 registrants. It should be a riot. Have a blast with Annie and don't forget to bring a bag to carry your dozen doughnuts as you will each get a box. Take lots of photos for us!

I got an email from Delta a few days ago that they had nonstop roundtrip flights to NY this weekend for $118.....so i'm off to visit my 2 oldest kiddies. I was even able to snag tickets for WICKED at less than face value. I used a site call StubHub because there was nothing available that I could afford with Ticketmaster. Well, my tickets arrived today and they are marked almost $20 more than what I paid. Of course we're rear mezzanine, but that's OK with me. I am so excited. My daughter actually lives off St Mark's Place in the Village, so it will be nice just to hang out. And since it's a 5th floor walk-up, I can eat all the NY pizza and bagels I want!

That's it for now.....gotta go pack. I'll be back Tuesday.

Here is the bandanna. Several of us wore them at the Minnie and at WDW. They are cute.

Aloha, Cousins!

I have had a rough week -- I was flat out at work, and not accomplishing anything at home or weight wise, plus ds had another one of those endless projects due Friday, so after his homework we worked on it every night. I had a scary gain, I didn't work out or eat well, and I asked dh if he thought I needed zymbalta...and he laughed. So I asked my assistant, and she told me I was just tired and lazy and I needed a nap...ok, it was just a thought.

Anyway, I slept for 11.5 hours last night, and I am very proud to say I did 5 mi on the TM today. I feel like a different woman. I even went up to the attic and cleaned out one of the storage areas under the eaves. The size 6 mos - 18 mos. clothes are going to the Salvation Army, and a host of baby toys, mobiles, etc. went into the trash. It was good to acknowledge that this baby factory is officially closed after one spectacular production. ::yes::

I'm sorry guys, but I cannot wear those animal prints at my current size. I will be mounted on some hunter's wall if I do! :rotfl: I don't want to play The Most Dangerous Game...

Jeanne -- I hope you are off having a fabulous weekend! :joker:

Corinna -- I have a friend from the Chicago suburbs and she swears by squeaky cheese curds. I've never had them, but apparently they are quite the delicacy! :)

Debra -- Thanks for the hug, I needed it this week! I think I'm just going to fake it until I make it, I know if I start working out and eating better, the desire will return. :crazy2:

I'm sending a big Howdy to Julie, Richard, Denny, Robert, Linda, Jen, JenB, JenG, Mel and Nancy! and a special hi to Connie, Thanks for droppin' in!

I promise I will post more this week. I do better when I post, but I feel guilty posting when I have nothing to report. It's a vicious circle ;)

Maria :upsidedow

Oh, I'm all about the 'Ohana gear, folks. I'm willing to give up my Lula fetish (although I'm not certain I'm alone in this) for some team swag. I still might need to buy something from running funky, though, just for me. I usually haunt Joe's New Balance Outlet, but in this case I'm willing to make an exception.....

Jen: Oooh, I love the cheese. Had a cheese subscription from Zingerman's. I consider it a personal failure that I haven't tried cheese curds yet, with or without the beer batter (preferably without, I think).

JenB: I'm with you on keeping the thread, I think, and we'll continue to do so until I hear otherwise I guess.

Jackie: Hope your KK race went well, and you have stories that don't involve your booting and rallying.

Jeanne: I'm looking forward to hearing the NY stories--about the time with the not-so-kidlets, about Wicked, about pizza and bagels. And some drinking stories would be nice, too! :thumbsup2

Corinna: Oh, my, that cheetah print screams Lula. I might have to have it and sign up for a Halloween run.... And here's the kicker, folks, I'm not even sure I'm a skirt runner! :rotfl2:

Maria: Oh my goodness, girl. It sounds like you just had a rough time of it and got yourself into a dark place. I'm so glad you got a good night's sleep and got back on the TM. I know EXACTLY what you mean by vicious circles. I call it the vortex when that happens to me. Deep, deep depression. We won't let you head in that direction alone, though! Consider us your life-support system or your non-caloric lifesavers! :thumbsup2

We haven't heard from Nancy, Denny, or Richard since the start of the new thread??? Kathy has yet to officially check in, too. And yoo hoo, Marcy? We miss you! Do we need to send out a Lostie search party? :rotfl:

Okay, I'm off to start a separate thread for our miles and minutes. Mike (laxdef69) of the Super Goofs gave me a spreadsheet we can use--if you want to post your own numbers to it using Google documents, let me know. If you'd prefer I do them, let me know. I'll post more information on other thread and link to it from here.

I know I asked for it, but the animal prints are just too much :lmao: I sort of thought such a thing couldn't possibly exist.

Maria: I'm with you on the low motivation front. It sounds like we had similar weeks. My diet went out the window (but wow was it a yummy week). I had a rough week at work and have generally lack motivation to do much of anything. I do find I feel better when I force myself to exercise, so all is not lost. If I can drag myself to a TM, I know you can too.

Hopefully this week I plan to eat a bit better and snap out of my mini-winter funk. I can't believe the Princess 1/2 is just a month away :woohoo: -- it is helping to keep me motivated.

Good Morning, Cousins!

It's a bright, beautiful day in MA! It's really good to see the sun, I had kinda forgotten what it looks like. ;)

I did the Biggest Loser bootcamp dvd yesterday. Today I got up at 5 and did 3.5 mi on the TM. I can't tell you what a difference it makes in my attitude to already have my workout done, and be able to focus on the rest of my day without that hanging over me to do when I'm tired. I made myself go to bed at 10 last night. I'll be up a little later tonight (gotta watch "Heroes"!), but the plan is to keep it as close to 10 as possible this week.

JenB -- You are going to cruise through the Princess Half! If I had a Half to do next month, I think that would get me moving! I'd like to think the worst of winter doldrums are over, and now we can get going and feel great! :thumbsup2

Debra -- Thanks for the miles and minutes thread. I promise to get over there this week and post for last week. Dennis had good numbers, at least...I love the term, the vortex! It does seem to just suck the life out of you when it's dark and cold...

I neglected to shout out to Kathy, Marcy and Jackie! -- You guys have to post more so I can learn what name goes with who! We are so psyched to have our new cousins, and I hope we haven't scared you away...we're a little odd but I promise we're a ton of fun! :woohoo:

Continued Howdy's to all the other cousins, Let's make this a great losing week -- losing bad attitudes, losing weight, losing baggage that holds us back!

Maria :upsidedow

Oh, good points, Maria!

So sorry to the new Cousins about all the talk of crazy "Ohana Uniforms" - we are just kidding around, I think.

Debra - I am one of those folks who has looked at the Miles/minutes thread and hasn't posted over there. It does look good!

JenB - It's incredible, the stuff you can buy in this day and age, isn't it? It sounds like we've all had a very challenging week. I can't believe the Princess is in one month!!! Are you getting excited?

Maria - it sounds like you're feeling better! Way to get your workout done first thing! Talk about starting your day off right. :) The early bedtime helps so much, though it can be hard to do, the payoff is worth it.

ME - I am in the furious throes of Cabaret tech week. Friday, final rehearsal in the rehearsal space. Saturday, worked all day on the set - mostly painting. Yesterday, we disassembled it and moved it, props and costumes into the actual theater. Then I went back and vacuumed the rehearsal/construction space. Which takes about 35 minutes. I haven't "worked out" in days, but I haven't been laying around on the couch too much either. Except in the evenings. Last night I even had a fever. I've been crashing around 7 the past few nights.

The food has been challenging. I think I'm doing OK, all things considered. I'm logging it, and mostly making good choices. It gets tough, though. This weekend, the other stage manager brought in chips, cookies, sandwiches (though she said she keeps forgetting I'm a vegetarian, so I got my own sandwich later), donuts, and the set designer brought a big bag of candy. It is tough to pass that stuff up over and over and over. I brought my own snacks, but you know, when those run out and I start to feel tired and draggy....I did dip into the candy a little. Not too crazy, and I did count it, so it's not really cheating, exactly, but not what I'd use my calories on if I were at home.

Opening night is Friday!!! Today should be the last big workday. Then it's just the cast parties.

OMG! I was just perusing the boards and saw a Debra post and remembered that I never said, :welcome: to DOOD!

Anyone else I forgot, please forgive me and know I am really happy to have our family expand! :woohoo:

So, how's the day goin'? I'm about to go home and start the 2nd shift aka 5th grade homework and housework.

Debra -- BSG was uber excellent Friday night. I really hope you are able to watch these last episodes, because after 2 kind of down weeks, last night was just a cinematic joy to watch. That's in my inexpert opinion, of course. :thumbsup2

Corinna -- Hang in there! I remember from high school (yes, I was once a thespian), tech week is a doozie! We used to celebrate after the 1st night of performances by going to the midnight showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". Of course, I'm not even sure I understood what I was seeing, but I loved throwing toast!

Ok, who wants to do the Time Warp Again?! :dance3:

Maria :surfweb:

Ok, who wants to do the Time Warp Again?! :dance3:

Me, me!!!

It's a jump to the left... and then a step to the right...

Add me to the list of those lacking motivation. I keep setting the alarm to get up and work out in the morning, then turning it off and rolling back over. This MUST change soon! Fortunately for tracking purposes here and at work (where they pay me cold hard cash at the end of the year), I actually did a race over the weekend so my little burst of activity counts double!

Mel - Actually saw a woman wearing tights from runningfunky at the marathon here in Raleigh. She stood out from everyone else!

JenB - I'm envious that you're doing the Princess Half. I'm still on the fence about one on the coast here on 2/28. Registered for it last year and then didn't go when the forecast called for severe thunderstorms - it actually hailed during the race and the wind blew so hard they were standing still while trying to cross the bridge!

Jeanne - Hope you had a great time in NY! I didn't read your post until AFTER the race, so I kept looking and looking - never did see you! Then I got home and read and found out why...

Maria - You won't be scaring me away, I promise! I haven't posted as often as usual, since every time I touch the keyboard I have a puppy in my lap. Makes it hard to type. Then she jumps down and starts to chew on something, or the other one wants to go outside... puppy parenthood is severely cutting into my DIS time!

Debra - I did a complete race report on the Race Report thread, but the short version is that I finished the KK Challenge, although not the "official" challenge. DD, her BF, and I each ate 4 donuts, and my chip time was 1:01:51. To be an official challenger, you have to eat 12 and finish under an hour. But none of us threw up, and we had a lot of fun laughing at everyone. There are links to photos in my race report.

Should be a relatively quiet week, and the weather looks great - 60's and 70's all week long, at least until Saturday when it drops back into the 50's just in time for a 10 mile run with the group. Now let's just hope I can take advantage of it!

Jackie

Hey Team Ohana! It seems like you are all revved up and having a great time!!

Corrina, I had no idea that you were a thespian. (So you were only acting like a friend of mine, huh?:lmao: ) Good luck with Friday night or should I say Break a Leg!

Debra I have to give you credit. The beginning of your thread is a model of effeciency. I tried to model some of what you did but I just never could go that far. I wish I could have thought of some of that or at least know how to do it but alas, I feel so inadequate. (Tuck tale and hide.) Seriously though, you're awesome!:grouphug:

Jeanne I am officially jealous! Why didn't you take me to NY with you? You didn't even ask. What's up with that? (Had to act like a fool for a minute.) I hope you have a great trip and please be safe. :grouphug:

Mel It looks like you and I are doing a race on the same day this coming Sunday. I hope you have a great finish and an awesome time!! :cheer2:

Keep up the excellent efforts everyone! (I would congratulate you on your first weeks totals but I can't see them.) Oh well. Congratulations anyway!

Visiting Bubba:yay:

Me too! But I have to start from the beginning. It is just too fitting this week:

"It's astounding! Time is fleeting! Madnesssss takes its toll. But listen closely. Not for very much longer! I've got to KEEP control."

It has been one heck of a day. 12 hours of assembly, disassembly, props processing and I left before it was even finished!

Maria - this is turning out to be the dooziest of all tech weeks I've ever experienced. Throwing toast sounds like fun, but frankly, after this opening night, I might not even be up for going to a restaurant afterward! Ah, to be young again!

Jackie - congratulations on your race this weekend! Do they really pay you cash for being active? That's pretty cool, if I'm understanding correctly!

Bryan - I am not that kind of thespian! I'm techie girl. I'm stage managing this show, but somehow doing running crew instead of actually managing it. I am the rockingest at stage crew - that is why.

ME - This is the first production in a new theater and so things are not even necessarily set up. This morning, we put together the whole set that we had loaded in on Sunday, very efficiently. Both Sunday and this morning. Then this afternoon, dressing and painting. Then this evening, the lighting techs came in - the professionals hired by the space, not our guys - and it was such a disaster. Took hours more than we were expecting. We had to take apart the set again for them so they could focus the lights. Talk about hassle. I didn't have much to do with it - I mostly worked on my props set-up. Which is pretty much done now. :woohoo:

Activity-wise, I am not actually getting much organized stuff together this week. I did drag myself around under some platforms earlier and shimmed the legs that were too short. I barely fit under those platforms, and I have to think that around the time of Marathon weekend, I definitely would NOT have fit, so there's another :woohoo: moment.

Have I mentioned my GoWearFit armband? It is like the bodybuggs they wear on the Biggest Loser, and I wore it all day today. It measures steps - over 11,000. And calories burned, and also minutes of activity, moderate and vigorous. I don't think that it counts for our purposes, but over the course of the day, I had 1:14 in moderate activity. :confused3

And now, I must go and rest. Very tired. :headache: :faint:

Put your hands on your hips, and bring your knees in tiiight... :dance3:

Good Morning, Team!

I just got off the TM. 2.5 mi this morning, and then I'll have yoga at noon. Since I'm all done working out it means I actually get "me" time when ds goes to gymnastics tonight. I taped "Heroes", so that's probably how I'll spend it. Gotta get ready for the Biggest Loser! :happytv:

I have to go to a hearing this morning, then I'll make my way to work. Well, the hearing is actually work -- I have to testify about the state's plan to create affordable housing. This is a yearly event, so I'm pretty used to the drill. ::yes::

I finished Plum Spooky last night. Just what I would have expected from a between the numbers book. Tonight I have My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon, which should be a charming anthology. I thoroughly enjoyed My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding. I also started reading my new guidebook on Seaworld, Aquatica and Discovery Cove. We are contemplating visiting some or all of them during our vacation this summer, and I like to be overly prepared. :cool2:

Corinna -- If anyone earned their rest last night, it was you! That was a killer! You do all that and take care of your family?! You are a superhero! :cheer2:

Bryan -- Thanks for dropping by! We love company! :goodvibes

Jackie -- I understand about pet parenthood! I have a 15 yr. old cat, and all he wants to do is lay in someone's lap, at any time a lap can be found. I type over him, but sometimes it just doesn't work like you would hope.;)

Ok, Cousins, how are we doin'? It's a great big beautiful tomorrow...I finally went on that ride in Jan. for the first time. I liked it, but I think dh took a nap :sad2:

Ok, gotta get dressed and get the family moving!

Maria :upsidedow

This is quick as I am a little behind (hey, at least I am here!). I made it to the gym again this morning to do some elliptical and track running. So proud of myself as I am NOT giving up this time. So this "annoying runner" lady slowed way down and I was doing a sprint and had to pass her on a curve (uggh). So I am passing her and she realized the chubby girl was passing her and she speeds up and then shout... "OH Sorry", when she cut me off. NICE!

So that's it... I need to catch up and post my miles/minutes (which were good last week!)

I don't know how many of you like New Balance gear. (I do.) Joe's New Balance Outlet is offering free shipping during February--and I saw some of my favorite stuff at good prices. If you're not into animal prints--*cough, cough, JenB*--you might like some of the deals there! :thumbsup2

JenB: I'm so jealous of you and Mel and everyone else who's doing the Princess. Now, I don't think of myself as a princess, but it'd be so cool to catch up with everyone. And any Disney race is fun. It's exactly the thing to keep one motivated. Is DH running with you? (Do we refer to him by name here?) A family trip? Solo?

Maria: I agree--working out in the morning sets a whole different tone for the day. I can find lots of reasons to procrastinate/put off/ditch the WOs at night. "Heroes" being one of them. Speaking of that show, I feel they're moving in a far better direction now since the firings. There are a couple of people I would eliminate, but I'm all into cleaning house in terms of some characters. How about you? (I haven't caught entirely up with BSG, and what's odd is that DOOD mentioned it. He's not much for sci fi, so apparently my withdrawal is showing.)

But you know what really drives me insane? Those pelvic thrusts.... :rotfl2: ("Time Warp is on my iPod playlist. 'Nuff said.)

Corinna: The "Cabaret" tech sounds like it's both physically challenging and mentally exhausting. Love the chaos of new show, and in a new theater! No wonder you crash at the end of the day. I'm so proud of how responsible you've been with the food, resisting most temptation and counting everything. And that all-important platform moment. You rock! :yay: As for counting, I think you're allowed to count the time it calculates? It seems we've had people counting such things in the past. Am I wrong?

Jackie: I saw your RR, and the KK sounds like a lot of fun. You went into the race with the right attitude, too. (Somehow I missed DD was running with BF. They aren't competitive like that? :confused3 Good for them!) Looks like you'll have great running weather--or dog jogging weather? Do you take them out with you on short runs?

Bryan: Thank you for your kind words. I'm hoping our first pages encourages people to come over here and get to know us. I don't think we're tracking weekly, at least not yet. We like to keep you in suspense! ;)

Jen: Yay for showing up the "annoying runner" lady. Boo for her showing her true colors. You should be proud of yourself. Oh, and thanks for the Ohana bandanas again!

Jeanne: How was NYC?

Mel: How's teaching going?

All my other cousins! What have you all been up to? We'd love to hear from you. (Hint, hint)

As for me: I tried running hills today. Not feeling it, so I quit before I was finished. Actually, I was finished before I quit. I made it about 75% through. I'm going to try to make up for it tomorrow on the TM, adding a SR to tomorrow's schedule. I've not been really motivated by my DVDs, so I need to find some new ones to keep me on my toes. Any suggestions?

I'd like to encourage us to pop into other threads this week. Super Goofs' Mike had surgery today, and Shan (also Super Goofs) has one coming up. Bryan's been cool in dropping by, as has Connie, Erica, etc. Also, does anyone have any idea for a team mixer, getting people to know each other?

Oh, and as Maria said: Here's to being LOSERS this week! Lose the inhibitions and the obstacles.
