Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Just wanted to check in to let you know that I'm leaving for WDW and DCL and will be gone for 10 days. Hopefully will get some exercise in, but I'm not expecting too much.

Have a great couple weeks everyone!

I know I haven't posted over here since the new thread started, but I have been lurking. Dealing with my health issue. Surgery is planned for 2/25/09 so will have the mastectomy and breast reconstruction done at the same time. After visiting the plastic surgeon have decided that I will go with the procedure that moves your belly fat up and creates a new one. At least if you have to have breast cancer, I might as well get a tummy tuck out of it. Really after reviewing the pros and cons of all the procedures they can do, this seemed to be the one that was going to be cosmetically and time wise work the best for me.

Until surgery I am still working on losing weight (9 pounds so far) and keeping up my excercise program. Now doing 4 days of cardio (spin class and elipical) with the other days being Pilates and pump class. That seems to be working well and helping with the weight loss. I know that once I have surgery it will be at least 8 weeks until I can exercise again and will be an uphill battle to get my endurance and strenght built back up.

Welcome to all the new people Kathy, Jackie, Macy and DOOD. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

I did finish Plum Spooky and I liked it much better than her other between the number books. I just bought James Patterson new book "Run for your Life", but haven't started to read it yet. I am going to stock pile some books to read while I am recovering, I think I will need to make a visit to the used book store.

Robert--Sorry to hear about Linda's injury and hope things improve for her soon.

Have a great time. According to Jeanne, I am a workout addict when we were on the cruise or was it the cute personal trainer who was young enough to be my son. :rotfl2:

Lets do the time warp again :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
...I'm a little late to this one but the song has been going through my head all morning now.

Nancy: Great to hear from you and congrats on the weight loss :thumbsup2 It sounds like you are goining into surgery with the right attitude and I hope you know we are all thinking of you

Not much here. I managed to get 5 miles in yesterday in 58 min-- very slowly getting faster if that makes any sense at all. I can't believe the Princess is only a month away. We are still debating if we should stay on property or go off and rent a car, decisions, decisions...

Howdy Cousins!

Debra - Those tiger and zebra print running skirts are...interesting! If we all wore those (which I am not actually suggesting), we'd have to meet at AKL instead of at Pop. :rotfl: I am impressed that you tried running hills. :thumbsup2 I am afraid to even attempt that.

Mel - Those tights are definitely funky! :cool1: Thanks for posting that picture.

Jeanne - I hope you had fun visiting your kids. :goodvibes

Maria - I'm glad that you're feeling better. I'm also impressed that you were able to get rid of all of the baby stuff. For some reason, I have a hard time parting with that stuff, even though there will be no more babies here. Congrats on getting your workouts in. I love getting my running or yoga done in the morning and not having to try to fit it in sometime later in the day. 'Cause there's always a reason to not do it once the day gets busy. :sad2:

JenB - Good luck with the Princess! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Corinna - Good luck with Cabaret! :goodvibes

Jen - What exactly are cheese curds?

Jackie - The KK Challenge sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love the opportunity to eat a dozen KK donuts! We had a KK here, but it closed. :sad2:

JenG - Have a great trip! :cool1:

Nancy - Good luck with the surgery and congrats on losing 9 lbs! :thumbsup2

Things seem busier than normal in my world. Sometimes I feel like I have 30 kids instead of just 3! :confused3 The good news is that I have gotten some runs in now that the ice is gone from the sidewalks. I'm planning to sign up for a half marathon in May, so I'm currently mapping out my training plan for that.

I've also finally entered the 21st century - I got an iPod! So, I'd love any song suggestions. What do you run to that really gets you moving? I like pretty much all kinds of music, so I'm up for any and all suggestions! :upsidedow

Have a great week!

It was great when it all begaaaannnnnnn!

DO NOT get me started on RHPS.......I am such a junkie! I have even been considered to be an inappropriate mother because I took my kids to it when they were just in Middle School, but hey it was all in fun. To be honest, I think the audience participation had gotten alot raunchier than it was "back in the day", but what the heck......I'm sure they'd seen worse. The virgin initiations were a little over the top. That said, I just LOVE Tim Curry in that role. Great Scott, he is so hot! (I think I'm about to scare away all the newbies!) I can't believe that Jackie and I are so similar in our tastes. (not good for you, Jackie!) Only last week I found out she was a big Harry Chapin fan as I was also. Harry Chapin.....Tim Curry....now that's a stretch. Go figure.

Hi guys, I'm in trouble with the DisneyRunning Skirt Nation so I came over here to hide. They didn't like the new ruling that the USATF announced that they were banning skirts from USATF sponsored events. Talk about shooting the messanger.

So how is everyone doing? Who is tasked with keeping Debra out of trouble.

Jeanne that horse you are riding in your avatar is kinda weird, was it a rescue?

Have a super day y'all.

A quick drive-by right now, as I'm doing some online shopping for running motivation and found these that I want to share. They're from OneMoreMileRunning.net. They come in short sleeves, stickers, etc.

I think of Corinna for this one...

Good Afternoon, Team Ohana (and Panda)!

(Kidzbop version) "And it's they way you say it, that really drives me insaaane" See Debra, they cleaned it up just for you! None of those naughty pelvic thrusts!

I started today with 3.5 mi on the TM, and promptly spoiled it with a mac and cheese lunch in a restaurant. The best thing I can say about it is I didn't have dessert. :rolleyes1

I get to take a break tomorrow on my rest day. I'm sleeping past 5 am!:woohoo: :rotfl2:

Panda -- I love skirts! It's a good thing I'm a competitive athlete only in my mind, 'cause I'm wearin' them! :cutie:

Jeanne -- I think Tim Curry and Meatloaf peaked in those roles. Susan Sarandon, not so much. popcorn::

Julie -- Don't worry about getting rid of the baby stuff yet -- it took me 10 years! ;) Isn't it a gorgeous day?! It's about time! Give us some direction for the type of music you like. My ipod is eclectic -- I have a ton of 80s Rock, but I also have the Olympic fanfare, Fallout Boy, and David Cassidy. Oh! And I'll be adding the Time Warp tonight! :dance3:

JenB -- You are so speedy! :cool2: That is incredibly fast compared to me, and getting faster! I did 3.5 mi in 48 minutes this morning.

Nancy -- I've been wondering how you are doing. We are sending :grouphug: and pixiedust: for your surgery and recovery. And great job with the weight loss!

JenG -- Hope your vacation is magical! :earsgirl:

Debra -- I agree about "Heroes". It is much better since they got rid of the backstory, timetravelling brigade. I actually haven't watched Monday's episode yet. The Tivo is spoiling me! :thumbsup2

Carrie -- Thanks for droppin' in! It is always great to hear from our Warrior friend! :yay:

Corinna, Robert, Linda, Denny, Richard, Mel, Jen, Marcy, Kathy, Jackie, -- I hope you're having an awesome week!

Maria :upsidedow

Hello my wonderful cousins!!!

Just popping in :teleport: To say HI!

Debra, I love Onemoremilerunning! I have the "Find your happy pace" cap in yellow that I sometimes wear with my alert shirt! :thumbsup2 And runningfunky sure has some fun wear, I just about have my Mardi Gras shorts worn out!

Maria! No dessert! Follow the three bite rule! One bite to try it. One bite to enjoy it. And one bite before you get rid of it! Besides, if it isn't good in one bite, you don't need three and it isn't good to have more than 3!!!! Ever wonder....Did the ladies on the Titanic think, man I coulda had the dessert??? :confused3

The rest of O'hana has my sincerest Good luck wishes for a GRRRRRRReat year! :cheer2:

Connie -- Your mind works in mysterious ways, you fit right in at Ohana! :lmao: The $7 desserts didn't seem to be much of a bargain for 3 bits, when I knew I had 100 cal Twix at the office. I ending up even skipping that, 'cause I felt guilty. The 3 bite rule is a great guideline! I promise to follow it! :thumbsup2

Great to see you visiting! :yay:

Jeanne was mistaken, the skirt ban was just a vicious rumor. Probably started by an unsavory weasel. Fortunately your helpful panda is here to run rumor control.

Go back into hiding. I can't protect you!

Quick drive by as so busy with life that had to skip workouts yesterday.

Meetings and Linda's Dr appt. I can't say much as we are hiring an attorney to tackle our battle with Big River Brewery(and Gordon Biersch). Let's say she isn't any better and is still grounded(which means us) :(

Have a great day everyone...........

It's a little early for April Fool's Mr. Panda! I love your blog entry on Emotional Eating. You are so right about the 'comfort' breaks - I had never thought of it exactly like that before, though I have enjoyed herbal and decaf tea as a 'comfort' break on many occasions.

Also, nobody is charged with keeping Debra out of trouble. We LIKE trouble!

Maria - I think the key is, the past week I have delegated a lot of my family care duties to my CASH (Corinna's Amazingly Supportive Husband). He's been so good about taking over this week. I hope your testimony went smoothly as expected!

Jen - I can't believe that annoying runner lady! Talk about your 3rd grade shenanigans! Nice job getting that workout in!

Debra - thanks for the kudos. It has not been easy to stay on track through all this, for sure! Hills are so tough. You really kind of have to work up to them, I think. It took me forever to be able to run all the hills on my neighborhood runs, and I still can't do it in the summer. You'll get there if you stick with it, I'm sure!

The counting - it doesn't seem right to count it when it's not really a concerted effort at activity, not sustained over a period of time - it just gathers up all those times I'm hustling the kids out the door or motoring to get the props out on stage or whatever into a big lump.

JenG - Have a FANTASTIC trip! I think it's easier to get a workout or two in on DCL than at WDW. Keep an eye out for the Castaway Cay 5K! And enjoy that workout room - talk about your gorgeous spot for a gym. :) What ports are you visiting?

Nancy - it's nice to see you on the new thread! That is the best use for belly fat I have ever, ever heard of. And it sounds like your workouts are going great as well! That should put you in a good place going into surgery. Congratulations on your 9 lb loss!

Carrie - it is so nice of you to stop by! Debra is a definite powerhouse in the posting department (not to mention the miles and minutes department!). Goodness knows, some of us can't keep up either!

OK - I started this earlier and now....there are more posts. I'm just going to keep on going!

JenB - Great job on that 5 miler. I love it about "very slowly getting faster" It's so convoluted, but it DOES make sense! My two cents on staying on property or renting a car for off - well, those non-marathon weekends, a car would come in pretty handy, cause of the lack of bus transportation. Tough call, though!

Julie - it is so nice when the ice melts, isn't it? Which half in May are you planning? Congratulations on your new ipod. Is it a nano? A shuffle? a touch? What color??? We need details! My top songs are: I'm Yours by Jason Mraz (for a happy pace), "She's got the Look" by The Freshmen Fifteen, and "You're Gonna Go Far Kid" by The Offspring. Fudgesicle! That has bad words, though. Also, weirdly, The Hamster Dance. I can't account for that one: I only like it for running.

Debra AGAIN - I can understand why you would associate me with the Happy Pace shirt, but I owe it all to Christa!

Maria AGAIN - I love that kid's version. Funny!

It's so dreamy. Oh fantasy FREE me! So you can't see me - no not at all!

Mac and Cheese - that was so 5 minutes ago - way to skip dessert. The important thing is not to write off the whole rest of the day as ruined. :)

Robert - so sorry that the hassles are continuing for you. Best wishes to Linda. I hope your attorney is a big help.

ME - the sidewalks are clear here (however briefly) and so I took the dog out on our first walk since "The Goldendoodle Incident of 2008." It was a nice day, though a bit coldish and windy. Shockingly, a house in the neighboring neighborhood had a big fire on the second floor sometime in the past 3 months. I was shocked!

Maria! No dessert! Follow the three bite rule! One bite to try it. One bite to enjoy it. And one bite before you get rid of it! Besides, if it isn't good in one bite, you don't need three and it isn't good to have more than 3!!!!

Hmmm...I can eat a zebra dome in less than 3 bites...and those passion fruit tarts... :lovestruc

Nancy...I'll be thinking about you on the 25th. Did we see pics of that personal trainer?

Debra...love One More Mile! The class is going well, thanks for asking! The hard part is this is a new school and the first class going thru, so it's not been taught before. I'm doing every lecture from scratch and always feel like I'm behind. It'll be a lot easier if they have me back next year...I can just tweak the lectures, not have to do it all each week. BTW, we're watching for the references in Lost. DD16's taking AP World History so catching a lot of those (Rousseau, John Locke, Tabula Rasa).

Bryan...good luck on your race this weekend! I'll be thinking about you!

Dave...was that no skirts or no shirts?

Sounds like we could have a Rocky Horror Ohana meet. Who wants to bring the toast?

Who is tasked with keeping Debra out of trouble.

Keeping Debra out of trouble? Why on earth would we want to do that? I think on this team, the more trouble, the better! ;) Now where's the puddin' meat and bourbon?

Thank you Corinna.

I got in trouble with my skirt rumor. My panda avatar on DR now has a skirt.

Have a super evening y'all.
