Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Hey cousins, Thanks for the Mixer!! It was a BLAST, must try to go to bed so I can get up and go to work in the morning.
You know the saying, You can go out with the girls at night but you must get up with the women in the morning.:)

Tracy

Thanks for a great party!!! You were wonderful hosts!! :thumbsup2

To quote a song from the late 70's,

It's late. It's late. I gotta get on home. It's late. It's late. I've been gone too long.

This was a great idea. We will have to do it again soon!

Bryan

Congrats on being enlightened, Lily. The film is the least of it--there's the radio series, the books, the TV show, the comic books, the stage shows. It's a sickness. But now you know--42. Always. And Babelfish.

But you know "Time Warp." That's how we know you're one of our close cousins! We just had an extended discussion on this. Big fans here. After all, it's easy. Just a jump to the left/and then a step to the right...
 (As close as I could come to the Time Warp dance.)
Oh my! MORE...

Thanks for the fun.
Good night.

I guess it's getting late for a "school night" on the East coast. Have a good sleep everyone! And hopefully there won't be any virtual hangovers in the morning....

Have fun! Just remember the first rule of 'Ohana. You do not talk about the 'Ohana Mixer outside the mixer. The second rule? You DO NOT talk about the 'Ohana Mixer.

Debra - I have a question. If nobody can talk about the 'Ohana Mixer outside the mixer, how are we going to have a bigger party next week? And also, if you DO NOT talk about the 'Ohana Mixer, how are we going to plan the 'Ohana Mixer? Maybe it's too many pretend drinks, but I'm SO :faint: confused.

Good morning Ohana and everyone that came to our party. Hmmmm, it's 9:30 and I have the first post........is everyone hungover? :rolleyes1

Love that word "foshizzle"......it reminds me of the time I got a call from a telemarketer when I was in a really bad mood. Well this guy was trying to sell me something and he was talking pure eubonics. Normally I'm fairly polite, but did I mention I was in a really bad mood. Finally I just interrupted him and said, "Listen, Snoop Dog, call me back when you can speak English!" and I slammed down the phone! To this day, my kids still ask me if I get any more calls from Snoop Dog!

Ok, I'm a day late with this but was listening to my ipod and heard a song from Avenue Q and laughed out loud. The whole show is funny (not G rated, but funny). I had to add this one...

Ha ha ha - maybe so, Jeanne! It was only 8:30 here in the central time zone. After I left the mixer, I went and did some XT DVD work. Bands, Stability ball and what was called a "bonus stretch workout" it was only 10 minutes long, but WOW - I can see why they call it a workout. I am getting a little bit strong underneath all this fluff. Not fast (hence the Slow Loris), but a little strong.

Jeanne, that is the funniest telemarketer tell off story I've heard in a long, long time. :rotfl:

Good times, team. Good times.

Pat: Sorry I missed you!

Corinna: About the secrecy of the mixers. Uh, yeah. That's makes sense. Serves me right for trying to cleverly quote Fight Club out of context. I'll blame it on the drinks! :rolleyes1 I'm turning over my late-night party status to you of the different time-zone and much more energy. Foshizzle. Especially since you did more XT, including bonus stretch workouts, after last night's soiree. Congrats on that.

Jeanne: You said that. Forshizzle? :rotfl2:

JenB: Of course, I should have known you love Avenue Q. It fits with the whole puppets, muppets thing! :thumbsup2

As for me: Haven't yet worked out today, but am planning on a late afternoon run. My sinuses are acting up, so I anticipate a lot of mouth-breathing to get through. I so love looking like a beagle. Hopefully a run will get rid of the headache that accompanies my sinuses. Of course, my headache might have been the result of the mixer, right? :lmao: Seriously, it was great to see so many people here, wasn't it? Especially new WISHers on teams. :woohoo: Thanks Jeanne, for the idea, and Maria, for the prompt! And a big whoo hoo to everyone who checked in! It was a great way to start my week! :woohoo:

Hi All -

As usual, I missed the party. I don't do Mondays.

I did however, listen to 'Big and Chunky" (from Madagascar 2...'I like 'em hippos'...) in honor of the O'hana Party. My daughter put it on my play list and I heard it for the first time while I was lifting weights. I almost dropped the weights I was hefting.

Have a great week!

Cecilia

Good Evening O'hana Cousins!!!

Tomorrow Hakuna Matata will be hosting an Ice Cream Social. (that's an old fashioned term for mixer). We would love to hear from everyone about what their favorite recovery food is AND is that also your favorite WDW treat!!! Feel free to include any other interesting pieces of information in your answer especially the exact location in WDW where you get this marvelous food!!!

Hope to see you there!

Hello cousins.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Nancy will be having her surgery early tomorrow morning. Please keep her in your prayers. We all know what a very special lady she is and hope all goes well. (BTW, if anyone would like her home address so they can send her a card, PM me and I will give it to you.)

Hi All!

Wow, it was quite the event around here yesterday! I'm not going to even try to go back through it all, I'm starting fresh from here! :thumbsup2

I did 4 mi yesterday, and 3 today plus yoga. Then I ate way too much, and we're having chocolate chip pancakes for dinner -- Fat Tuesday tradition. That's also why I've been eating way too much. I'm giving up treats for Lent. I'm interpreting that to mean sweets, candy, and chips, plus we also give up fried and fast food. My dessert will be sugar-free jello or Skinny Cow (I know those are actually treats, but...). Anyway, if I don't lose weight working out and not eating goodies, I don't know what could make it happen. :confused3

I had a huge breakthrough at work today. Feel free to laugh at me -- I was assigned to create a Powerpoint with a lot of "charts, graphs and photos". I've never done one before, and I had the hardest time turning the Excel spreadsheets into charts, even with the Chart Wizard. Ok, I could make the chart, but getting it to look like what I needed was another story. Anyway, I figured it out this morning, and my little Powerpoint is mighty spiffy! :goodvibes

I have another 4 mi on tap for tomorrow. I definitely have to do it before work because we have church tomorrow night.

I'm also back to my faux vegetarian Fridays, since we don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent. Anyone else picking up a healthy habit? While I think it's a good thing to do to give stuff up, in my case it's more an excuse to try to eat better than a religious conviction. Hey, I'll take any motivation I can get! ::yes::

Ok, we're in the last few days to get miles and minutes in. I'm going to remember that tomorrow am when I want to blow off my workout! :rolleyes1

Let's Go Team Ohana!
Maria :upsidedow

I sent a PM to Jeanne and then JenB's post reminded me -- Wishing you a very speedy recovery and good health. We  you, Nancy!

Nancy: I just wante dto send you some  for a succesful surgery and speedy recovery. Hopefully you are out enjoying yourself tonight or getting some rest but I wanted to let you know our thoughts are with you. :goodvibes

Nancy, lots of prayers, good thoughts, and pixiedust: coming your way. I hope that your surgery goes well and that you have a quick recovery! :goodvibes

Nancy: Everyone here is thinking of you today and in the next few weeks. Hope you have a successful surgery, very little pain, and a quick recovery. :grouphug:

Cecilia: Thanks for stopping by and giving me a laugh when I read your song! I listened to the iTunes excerpt and must download now. And it's upbeat enough to add to my playlist. :woohoo:

Jeanne: Thank you for doing this!

Maria: I hate PowerPoint, so can I just contract any future presentations to you. :goodvibes Wow, you're really giving up a lot of goodies for Lent! I'm sure it's good for you, both physically and spiritually. I don't do Lent formally, but I did do Fat Tuesday. DOOD lived in New Orleans for some time, and in Poland, so we had raspberry-filled Paczi. Yummy. During this Lent season, however, I will trying to eat better. Maybe I need to think of something specific so we can be kindred spirits.

END OF MONTH: Just a reminder. We're headed into the end of the month and need to report our miles/minutes. The link to the thread for reporting 'Ohana's progress is here, but it's also on this thread's first post at the very top. If you don't want/need access to the Google spreadsheet I'll be happy to put your numbers in.

As for me: Okay, I know it's a shallow publication, but I subscribe to Self. I always pick up a few tips. And this year I think I'm actually going to try their challenge. Nothing like a few, or more than a few, extra pounds for motivation. :rolleyes1 So today at the gym it was intervals on the elliptical. For the first time in a long time, I was drenched in sweat afterwards. Good start, yes?

And in personal news, DOOD and I are going to be reading George Eliot's Middlemarch "together" in the next couple of weeks. (We read at different paces, but you get the idea.) There's a meme on BBC books floating around BBC, and I mentioned I'd never read it. Neither had he, so he brought home two library copies for us to read it and discuss it. Has anyone here read it? And, of course, I told him I was up for reading this book so long as it doesn't interfere with my other pleasure reading.

Update on Nancy:

I just got a call from Norm.....Nancy is still in surgery and will be for the next few hours, but the doctors told Norm that her lymph nodes "looked good". Thank God because that is the most important thing. Of course, I'm sure they will have to run all sorts of tests, but the fact that the doctors seemed so positive is a very good sign. Please keep her in your prayers and I will continue to update you as I learn more.
