Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Hey ::MickeyMo

Add me to the list of people who is having a hard time getting on the Dis! Has anyone mentioned this to the moderators or webmaster or whoever? Its kind of irritating .

We just got home from a trip to Sam's Club. Yeah, I spent a small fortune and still have stuff I have to pick up at Wally World tomorrow. We stopped at Subway and grabbed a late lunch. I had a foot long on wheat ham, turkey, cheese, little lettuce, and yellow mustard with a bag of baked lays. I'm sipping on a cup of Dr Pepper, don't know if I'll finish it or not. I'm not sure what we'll do for dinner considering we ate lunch so late.

Going to let my food settle a little more and I need to get my bathroom cleaned and situated considering I'll be sharing with my mom. We have a master bathroom but the shower is way to small for me and I feel like I'm cramped. So I let Alan have the master bath and I use the "common" bathroom as my own. I also like having the longer counter to organize all my bathroom stuff/meds.

Then once that's done I need to clear out the closet in the guest bedroom and organize the drawers in the dresser. I need to make sure she has space for everything considering I still have no idea how long she plans on staying.

I'm also going to have Alan go to Home Depot tomorrow and see if he can find a pantry type item so we can put it in the garage to hold the over flow of stuff that doesn't fit in the house. I love my new house but I definately lost a LOT of storage space going from a one story to a two story, but we make it work.

Healthy Habits Week 6-A Pamper Week: Adventureland

This week we are having a Pamper Week. In the past, we have not submitted points for Pamper Weeks, but this time we are. There will be 7 Mini-Challenges that will help pamper you this week. Please submit only how many challenges you completed. For example, if you completed 3 of them, you only need to send me 3/7. This is still a team competition and all participation counts!

1. The Enchanted Tiki Room: You know the catchy song that sticks in your head. Spend some time listening to music you enjoy.

2. Jungle Cruise: The corny jokes aren't that cheesy. We laugh no matter what. :rotfl2: Do something that makes you laugh.

3. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin: This is one ride I don't think I've every done. There's something about moving around and around in a circle that doesn't appeal to me. Kids love it! Do something that makes you feel like a kid (again).

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Ahh, Jack Sparrow. Need I say more? ;) Do something you find relaxing.

5. Swiss Family Treehouse: A timeless classic no matter how hot it is outside or which other ride is more important, at least to me. This is a great attraction to take in the scenery. Spend some time enjoying the scenery.

6. Aloha Isle: I don't particularly like pineapple, but you can't be the calories in a Dole Whip. Indulge in a treat that fits into your plan. You can decide what is considered a "treat."

7. Tortuga Tavern: I learned about this restaurant from the WDW website. It serves Mexican food. Spend a day keeping an eye on your sodium intake.

Have a great week everyone! Feel free to PM me any questions or ask on the thread.

Congrats on the great WI and have fun at Super Bowl Party XVI! :cool2:
Thanks, and we will! It's funny - that's exactly how I label the invite to the party. I started once we passed the five-year mark of hosting. :)

A fun question for my last one of the week: What is your favorite Disney Resort and Park! When is your next trip?
Thanks for coaching! My favorite resort and park...that's hard! I will always have a soft spot for the first place we ever stayed as a family, which was Poly. I love Animal Kingdom Lodge - we'll do our second stay there this summer after PCC 3.0 (renting points in a 1BR - I can't wait!). When DH and I go alone, I think my favorite is Boardwalk - I love walking around the whole area without the kids' agenda! ;)

My favorite park...is probably Epcot, the World Showcase, specifically. I also love Animal Kingdom, as our kids love it. We seem to discover something new there every time we visit, in addition to our favorite things there.

We had a tough day at school. Today we told the 5th graders about the loss of their classmate. It's hard because it's hout of the blue, and they don't know yet what caused the death. One of the teachers who worked with him just took the job in January fresh out of college, and this is proving to be really tough on her.
I'm so sorry you're all going through this - I'm keeping this child's family in my thoughts and hope they can find some closure.

XO
Liz

I think I have missed several question or the days, but I'm too lazy and the board is too slow to go back and look for them.

But I will do this one:

A fun question for my last one of the week: What is your favorite Disney Resort and Park! When is your next trip?

**It is hard to answer what my favorite resort is. I've stayed at: Port Orleans French Quarter, Pop Century, Saratoga Springs, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom Kidani village. Of those my favorites were Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom.

****But I would love to stay at Beach CLub, Boardwalk and Grand Floridian.

**My favorite park is EPCOT. I love wandering thru all the countries and trying the different foods, and then heading over to future world to ride all the rides.

As of right now my next trip isn't until September 2013 (see ticker). We had a rough 2011 financially (dh was on disability then unemployment then a job that turned out not to be what he was told). But my dh started a new job right before Christmas that is wonderful, that he loves and has a base salary that covers all our expenses. :cool1:

So our plan is to go in September 2013 after he has been at this job for awhile. We will hopefully go at the same time at my cousins that live in Georgia which will make my girls very happy. We also have to plan around gymnastics competition which is fall currently....but changing soon with the girls moving to higher levels.

We are hoping to squeeze in a trip to Disneyland sometime before that. Is it bad that my children have been to WDW more than Disneyland and we only love 5 hours away. LOL!!!

Wow! That turned out to be very long. :lmao:

Oh yeah! I am super excited that I made it onto the top 10 list last week. :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I get excited by the little things..LOL

Evening ::MickeyMo

Well, between walking around Sam's Club and Home Depot I got 1.25 miles in today for exercise. Calories today were not great. I had a foot long sandwicch, chips, and soda from Subway for lunch. Then 2 bean and cheese burritos from Taco Bell for dinner. Cracks me up how I did great with food yesterday but didn't want to exercise and today is the complete opposite.

Alan got the dresser situated in our guest room. I need to work on the closet tomorrow after I finish cleaning my bathroom. My mom insists that I don't need to go through all this trouble. I assured her that it wasn't a big deal and whether she was coming or not it needed to be done. Her coming just gave me a reason to get off my butt and finally do it .

We found a shelving unit with doors (its sold in the area at Home Depot where you can design your own closet). I told Alan I wasn't picky. I just wanted something to store overflow groceries and it'd be nice to have space for certain appliances that I don't use all the time. We have a MUCH MUCH smaller kitchen then we did in TX. So I'm limited on cabinet space and don't like having my counters loaded down with appliances. It makes it difficult to have counter space to prepare meals.

I chose which one I wanted and we went home and figured out where we're going to put it. He'll go back in the morning and pick it up and put it together. So between cleaning and organizing I'm going to be busy tomorrow. We also need to go to Wally World at some point and get the other groceries. I'll be glad to finally have my kitchen organized and the way I want it because frankly right now its driving me bananas.

I hope everyone has a great OP day tomorrow and enjoy your weekend!

Hey MICKEYS you're so fine! :smickey:

Thanks for coaching this week, Tracey! :goodvibes

My favorite resort is Grand Californian and my favorite park is the original Disneyland. But I grew up in Anaheim and it has held a special place in my heart for a long, long time. I just returned from there don't know when I will return. Here is a picture from my room at the DVC GC

427742_2935455944594_1206949256_32808400_1924040684_n.jpg

This is California Adventure -- Mickey's Fun Wheel, part of the track from California Screamin' and another ride whose name escapes me now in Paradise Pier. I could hear World of Color every night and see some of the lights and fountains.

My favorite resort at WDW is Animal Kingdom Jambo House. I love all the animals. My favorite WDW park is Epcot. We are booked to go to WDW in June at OKW if I can find some reasonably priced airline tickets.

Jess, sorry for the tough time at work. Those sinus infections are tough. :flower3:

LTS, great tip to stay OP for the Super Bowl festivities! :thumbsup2

Debbie, I love all your tags! :goodvibes

Kristina, I'm glad that your Mom is coming to visit. :cool2:

Aww, you're so sweet! Thanks! :flower3: I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time at DLR and sorry that we didn't get to meet. I was so happy to finish and not get swept this time. :tink:

Start thinking about WDW Marathon W/E in 2013 -- I'm doing the Donald. That goes for all of you! ::yes::

Yep, the poor Disboards are having some problems lately but I'm sure they will get them fixed as fast as they can. Just keep swimming! :swimming:

Glad you were able to see that you made the top 10 list, Jude! :yay: Congrats! :thumbsup2

Here is a picture of me at the Tinker Bell Half finish with my fellow Lisabelle, Lisa, who is a Team Donald member. I am the Lisa on the right.

I'm going to take it easy this week-end and catch up on things at home. Everyone seems to be coming down with a bit of a cold. First one of the season so can't really complain.

DH and I are also starting a triathalon program at our local community center based on the Ironman -- called the Krocman (the center is funded by the Kroc family). You swim 2.4 miles, ride a bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles but you have a month to do each leg. So in February I have to swim 2.4 miles -- 106 laps in the little pool I plan to use. Considering I did 180 laps around the indoor track as part of my training for the Tink in one day, this shouldn't be too bad. It's good mental training. :hippie:

Have a great day all!

Lisah0711, I LOVE your picture! It's fabulous! And how do you have perfect makeup right after the race? You're wearing your medal, so you had to have just ran?? Wow, you look great!! Congrats again!:cool1::thumbsup2

I love these Healthy Habits!! Thanks CCLovesDis!:worship:

I am back from running the Tinkerbell Half Marathon! Made it home tonight around 10. I hope the DIS will cooperate and let me post. I have been trying to keep up with the boards while gone, and a few times had some things multi-quoted to reply to and it would just sit there and spin. I wasn't sure at first if it was the hotel internet connection or the DIS, but every other site was working fine.

I am really sad I didn't get to make the WISH meet. I actually was trying to get there, and we did make it to the area in DTD around 5:05, but apparently I was still in the wrong place. I went to a fountain by the (an) entrance to the Grand Californian (and between Sephora and Haagen-Dazs) and was certain I was in the right spot, but then when I saw the pics from the meetI realized I wasn't. I think I found THE fountain, a little further on from where I was. Darn it! Next time, for sure! I will get someone's phone number so I can call if I am as directionally challenged as I was this time. I'm not quite as familiar with DL as WDW.

We had a fab time in California. I tried to eat good, but I did indulge in a few goodies, though too. I drank water, lots of water. I exercised and I slept well. That felt good. And also every day I got up and did my hair and my makeup, which maybe doesn't seem like much, but for me it is! With 6 kids (and if I'm being honest, it has nothing to do with the kids) I don't do that very often. It felt good to feel a little more "done". It felt almost like my husband and I were on a date every single day. We've been married almost 19 years, btw.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Walnut. It was really nice, as Holiday Inns go, and was super clean, close to everything (we walked easily to the parks, DTD, and to the race start for the 5K, I walked to the start of the Half Marathon, and my husband walked to the finish line area later).

The 5K was on Friday night, starting on Main Street USA in Disneyland. It took us through some backstage areas and also through Disney California Adventure. It was a lot of fun. A few areas could have been better lit, in my opinion, as I did see two people fall down. It was, I would say, 80% walkers, which was fine by me, because my husband and I were walking it anyway. He doesn't plan on running anything. I am glad he did the 5K with me. This was his second 5K (I signed him up for Star Tours 5K last September, THEN told him about it, lol). It was fun.

The Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon went off without a hitch. It was super fun too. I somehow got into Corral B (I had submitted an anticipated finish time of 2:45). I actually finished in 3:19:32. It was a 27 second Personal Record (PR) for me, but a PR just the same. As I had posted before, I completely ran this one. I was slow, but steady maintaining a little over 15 minute miles. That's a 4 on the treadmill. I knew I had done a little bit on the treadmill at 4, and felt confident doing that at least for a mile at a time, so I just kept asking myself "Is this what 4 on the treadmill feels like?" and if not I either sped up or (rarely had to) slow down to meet that. I didn't want to not push myself or burn myself out too early. I am happy with that result. My goal is to come in under 3 hours (sometime in 2012). I will have to work really hard to do that, but I know the more weight I lose the more attainable that goal will become. I am having some knee pain (even before the race, a little) and I am giving my body a few days to rest to get over that, and after a few runs maybe this weekend and next week, if its not better I am going to go see a Physical Therapist or someone about it.

I got one of those things called THE STICK at the expo. I love that thing! It massages out your muscles and helps you recover. I think my knee pain might be IT band related, based on where it hurts, etc.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a fabulous OP day tomorrow. I will try to post some pics.

Melinda :):thumbsup2:cool1:

I've been mia (AGAIN). I am so overwhelmed with school right now and work and just don't get a lot of 'free' time to play on the dis. I've been doing well though, finally seeing the scale move downward. Why was it so easy to put on a few extra pounds over the holidays yet so hard to get them back off. Frustrating that I've been working at this for weeks and just now getting back to where I was the beginning of December. ugh!

Oh a good note, I started running again (I hadn't run since a ten miler last May) and just seemed to 'not enjoy it' so I gave that up and just concentrated on working out. Well, all the marathon talk and photos a few weeks ago (we couldn't go this year since Dd was graduating that weekend) really got me itching to run again. Started doing the c25k again (but my phone didn't reset) so i stated in the middle of week two and thought I'd die, but surprisingly I'm doing ok. Doing 3 minute running intervals and very impressed that I've not passed out, lol. I'm hoping to get a few 5k's in soon to see if I can actually improve my timing. This all has an ulterior motive. I want a better time so I can place in a better coral for the marathon (or half) depending if and which we do next year (every thing at this point is up in the air until I find out if I get into the clinical portion for nursing school). ugh.

But I'm doing much better time wise than I was, so I'm thinking I'm starting to 'like' running again :)

Well, since I should be working, I should get going. I'm going to do my best to start trying to catch up again.

Here are some photos from my trip to Disneyland to do the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Neverland 5K.

Here I am going to packet pickup at the Disneyland Hotel.

This is THE STICK I talked about in a previous post. If you have any sore muscle issues, try this. It works!

Now we are at the Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon. I got Corral B based on my estimated finish time of 2:45. Actually I finished in 3:19:32, a 27 second PR!

This sea of runners is only what I could see from the front of Corral B. There were 5 corrals total!

I'm finished, got my medal, and showered and ready to go eat something good! We went to California Pizza Kitchen.

We had a blast!!

OK, some of my pictures are showing up really crazy, like upside down and stuff. I have no idea why. They don't look like that in my photo bucket. WEIRD!Anyway, a glimpse of my week at Disneyland.

Hey MICKEYS you're so fine! ::MickeyMo

Add me to the list of people who is having a hard time getting on the Dis! Has anyone mentioned this to the moderators or webmaster or whoever?

CC, love the HH this week! :yay:

Thanks, and we will! It's funny - that's exactly how I label the invite to the party. I started once we passed the five-year mark of hosting. :)

Yep, I remembered that! ;) Do you have to fix everything or do people bring stuff too? It sounds like a lot of fun! :goodvibes

Oh yeah! I am super excited that I made it onto the top 10 list last week. :yay::yay::yay: I get excited by the little things..LOL

It's an accomplishment -- not a little thing! :cool2:

Lisah0711, I LOVE your picture! It's fabulous! And how do you have perfect makeup right after the race? You're wearing your medal, so you had to have just ran?? Wow, you look great!! Congrats again!:cool1::thumbsup2

Aww, bless your heart for saying something so sweet to me. It took over four hours of running and sweating to get that look. :rotfl2: Trust me I was hot and sweaty and salt crusted at that point -- it just doesn't show in the picture. We all look better than we think we do! :hippie:

I loved all your pictures and your report, too, Melinda. I'm glad that you had a great time and since everyone managed without Mom and Dad for a few days hope you can do it again some time! :flower3:

Patty, Jeff Galloway has a 5K run/walk program that you can download, too. It's a Lolo application. I have the 10K. I really like it. I always like listening to him speak -- he is always calm and positive. :lovestruc

I am a samer this week. I'm feeling pretty good about that because earlier in the week I was afraid I was going to be a gainer. Onward and downward!

Have a great day all! :goodvibes

Hi all,

First chance I've had to get on here all day! It was a pleasure coaching this past week.

Didn't get up and work out this morning as I was sore from yesterday and we stayed up too late last night!

All of us are decked out in our NE Patriots attire! People coming in to work think it's great!

My new client is a HUGE Disney fan so I told her about the boards and she is so excited to check us out! And the funny thing is that I don't have any Disney stuff on today as I'm in my Pats stuff! We just started talking!

Put clam chowder in the crock pot this morning. I still have to add the evaporated milk and get some oyster crackers. I hope to stop at 2 grocery stores this afternoon between Ash's orthodontist appt and her dance rehearsal! Gotta decide what to make for the Super Bowl party that we are going to on Sunday.

My mind is racing today with ideas for marketing at work and getting stuff organized at home. Hope to do some more of that this afternoon though I don't know when I will have a minute.

Love seeing photos from the Tink! One day I will do a run at Disney! I would love to do the Everst 5K in May or the Wine and Dine! I have been asked to do the Wine and Dine but it depends on money!

Been doing great on food today and water! Just hope I don't blow it like I did last night. PMS has been dealing it's heavy hand!

Have a great weekend if I don't make it on here!

TTFN :tigger:

Loves to scrap-- that's really smart about the salad toppings.

A fun question for my last one of the week: What is your favorite Disney Resort and Park! When is your next trip?

Well, we just go to Disneyland and stay off property, but we love Hojo. It's funny you asked this question because I had a dream last night that we were staying somewhere new (that doesn't exist) that was really posh and we gat a great deal on it but you had to take some kind of subway to get to it-- I dunno, kind of like the Portland Max. And I missed my stop and got way into downtown LA and was totally lost lol. then I did it again-- twice in one day. Weird dreams...
I'm up 2 pounds again-- frustrating but kind of expected because it's before my period and I Always gain 2 pound this week in fluid. I suppose I seriously ought to look at my salt intake, but not quite ready to give it up-- or cut back much at all lol. I'm very stubborn that way. Good news is my daughter is moving back. She will lose her grant but she's had about 3 years of school on it and needs to get her life back now. It will devastate my parents but she can't live her life for them and all that school would be a big waste if she is no longer alive... I told her the credits will be there when she wants to pick it back up, and yes-- it's hard to get something like that but she went out and got it before and she could do it again. It will be a huge relief to have her back around. Her old band members are helping her with moving expenses and she'll have a place to live which is also really good.
I've been working out every day this week so I think I deserve a little break today so I'm going to take a long bike ride instead. It still wears me out but it's a lot funner for me and it's nice and sunny.
I got kind of frustrated this week reading your posts about daily food intake. You guys eat a lot less than I do. It was shocking to me really. I know I need to get my calories under control. I had forgotten how hard it was to lose weight as it was so easy for me to maintain for so long. I am really struggling this time but-I realize I'm not really having enough will power. I do really work out hard and work hard-- have an active job but I eat to make up for it....
I know next week witll be better....

I've gotten so frustrated with the DIS this week, as soon as I had some DISigns done, it would be down and I couldn't load them or even pull more requests.
:headache:
But it's acting somewhat better.
Here's for the good news: I'm down 2 pounds!!!
:cutie:
So that's a net loss of three and a half over three and a half weeks. I'll take it.
Off to PM I go...:surfweb:

Evening ::MickeyMo

I'm still getting used to the limited storage space in this one story house. We have a pantry that is longer then it is wide (think like the little closets in most apartments that are like the length of half a wall). Alan had to buy thicker screws to reinforce the shelves because he didn't want them coming down. Well, after a few months of trying to organize everything I decided to go to Home Depot and see what they had. We decided on just getting a shelving unit that has doors on it. They were sold in the area where you can buy different shelving units and drawers to design your own closet. I wasn't being picky and it was half the price of buying an actual free standing pantry unit. Plus it was wider, the shelves were deeper, and I could fit much more stuff.

Alan got it put together and I started organizing things right away. Its amazing that just the little bit I've done I actually have counter space in my small kitchen. I still need to do a little more organizing but overall I'll be a lot happier once its done. I also got the dresser cleared out in the guest bedroom and DF helped me clear out most of that closet. We still have stuff that needs to go in the attic but we're waiting til my mom can help him get a floor down in the attic.

My mom will be here Monday afternoon. She bought a one way ticket from Chicago. I told her while she was here she could use one of my cars if she kept fuel in it. Well, we went grocery shopping to make sure we had enough food in the house. When I approached the subject of "Well, how long are you going to be here?" she tells me "Oh, I'm not sure. I thought maybe a few weeks, maybe a MONTH." :scared:

Now, I know part of the reason she wants to be here so long is because she wants to be able to look for a job down here. Ever since she sold her house in TX she has been trying to figure out what she wants to do. She's gone back and forth between wanting to be a travel nurse and finding a nursing job in IL and just getting an apartment. Needless to say she still hasn't made a decision. She's been fortunate enough that my aunt and uncle have let her stay with them and she helps them around their house.

Now, I would LOVE for my mom to live out here full time (no not in my house  ). But if she got lucky enough to find a job and get a place I'd be ecstatic. My mom and I have never had a close relationship and now that there are particular factors that won't get in the way I think this would be a fresh start for us.

Now, let's just see if I can survive however many weeks she decides to grace me with her presence.

I changed the pics in my sig so now I have all my youngest. the best pictures are on my iphone and I haven't even tried to get those off it yet, but here's a few that shows their personalities lol.

So, I've decided not to send in my weigh in yet. I'm not happy with my weigh in today. I hoping the gain (1.2 pounds) is to to TOM which is almost over. So maybe by the end of the weekend, it will go down some.

I have stayed in my calorie range, drank all my water and worked out more than before. (I'm upping my minutes every week).
I'm trying soo hard to not get frustrated and give up. You would think when someone has over 100 pounds to lose that they would have so much trouble losing weight. I seem to lose every other week... Seriously what is up with that??? :confused3 My calories in are the same (1200-1400), my exercise in increasing by 10 minutes each week, and I drink all my water . If it's this annoying now, what will it be like when there is a lot less for me to lose. UUGGHH!

Just a littel vent there. This is why I tend ot give up.

I was the same way today. I mean I worked out more than I have the last 4 weeks, drank my water, and didn't do any serious over eating (even though, I know I can eat less) and I'm up 2 pounds. I'm pretty sure though it's TOM. I felt like giving up too.
