Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

We went to Immediate Care and I was discharged with a knee sprain. The knee cap is where it is supposed to be and there is no ligament or tendon damage. There seems to be some swelling under the knee cap which is why it's temporarily popped out of place a bit. They gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatories and told me to rest as much as possible.

QOTD- while I haven't done anything specific at WDW to eat healthy...ever... I think doing things like dressings on the side, no bread, and sauces on the side is a good way to eat healthier while at Disney :)

Best of luck Gretchen!

Wow-- can't miss a day 'round here. Finally caught up to today and that'll help me find my place later. Had an old girl pass away on us yesterday, I knew it was coming but still a shock.

Susan -- I am so sorry, what a beautiful girl!

Still trying to come up with a title for my PTR... any ideas? We are going for the F&G festival for the 3rd time, but its our first time going in May...

Bicki -- Sounds like a wonderful trip, I know you will really enjoy all the beautiful displays :flower:

DSs and a friend we gave a ride to absolutely scarfed their meals--teenage boys .

They really can eat, can't they?! I am always amazed when DS13 has a sleepover. Even though we buy a ton of cookies, chips, fruit, candy, etc., they still eat it all :scared1:

It takes me back to my Girl Scout Days.

That virus is nasty! I am so glad you are better now. I was a Girl Scout, too. Technically, I still am since I'm a lifetime member :rotfl:

I am proud of myself, today I will have officially logged food for an entire week. I don't know if I have ever done that before! I am excited because I even logged when I was not 100% on plan.

Great job! Where are you in Missouri? My parents are from the bootheel, I grew up in St. Louis County, I went to Truman State for undergrad, and my college BFF lives in Salisbury. Did I hit your region? ;)

Hello to Team Mickey! I am on Team Donald but wanted to stop in and say Hello :wave2: because I know a lot of my friends from previous challenges are here!

Great to see you here, Jen! I am missing my Team Donald buddies!

Hello Team Mickey! I just wanted to pop over to your thread to say HI to all the great people I met in the Fall challenge and all the new people who are trying to improve their health!

Hey Jill! Great to see you over here!

I had a bit of a mental fit last night and acted a bit like a crazy lady (after returning from a 4+ hour Rainbow Girls event) when I discovered that while I was gone the men moved NOTHING! THere was a short list of things that I had asked them to move while I was gone and they did NONE of it!! So I came home, unloaded/reloaded the dishwasher in my dress and heels, and then started moving chairs, tables, etc. I was NOT happy (especially when I dropped a dining room chair on my toes!).

Oh Pamela, :grouphug: for you! It is so frustrating when you have a plan, you have a list, and people just don't follow it. Don't they know you have worked this all out for them and they just have to follow instructions? I feel your pain. ::yes::

GOOD MORNING LOSERS!!

gosh, how many times have i said to myself over the years, "diet starts monday!" well guess what - it's monday and i'm not starting anything new. it feels good to say that. my healthy living has been going steady now for a whole week. hey, it's something! and since we've been doing swimmingly this past week, let's have a QOTD that is about something we all love.... ::MickeyMo:smickey::mickeyjum:earsboy:

QOTD: As GRETCHEN heads off to our favorite place today for the college program, why don't we provide her our favorite healthy eating tip at Disney World. That way some of us who have trips scheduled (or dreamed about) can try to incorporate these tips into our vacations too!

calories.jpg

Those pesky calories, they're the opposite of the brownies who do good deeds! Anyone remember them from Girl Scouts? :goodvibes

My favorite WDW healthy eating tip is to remember this is not my last trip, ever. I do not have to cram every treat I see into this trip. There will be more, and I can be very choosy in what I select as the Treat of the Day! Regular cookie, brownie, rice krispie treat I can get at home -- not cutting it! Carrot cake cookie or made to order pretzels? I'm there! ;)

OK, I give up trying to Catch up.
So I'm starting from here.
If anyone has anything to ask or tell, let me know.

Just glad to see you Buffy! No worries. I figure if I learn one or two new names each week, I've made progress with keeping up. This week I'm learning Bicki -- it's unusual and sounds fun to me! :flower3:

Afternoon ::MickeyMo

Well today I'm not striving to do a whole lot. That workout last night kicked my butt. I soaked in the tub (as hot as I could stand it) for about half an hour. Then I watched a few episodes of Hot in Cleveland (have seasons on DVD). Then I crashed BEFORE midnight. I slept 12 hours straight!

I woke up around 1130 and felt like I had been hit by a semi. My back was killing me and I could barely move my head from side to side. I popped some pain meds and pretty much have been parked on my laptop in the leather recliner in front of the tv in the living room. Alan is outside doing Lord knows what and I've got the country music station turned on the tv. I'm sitting here going back and forth from Sparkpeople and the Disboards.

Gretchen, I hope your knee starts to feel better and you enjoy your trip!

QOTD: Everyone has pretty much gave the same advice I would of given. The pedometer idea is FANTASTIC! I did it in November when I was there for 4 days. In that short amount of time I walked 11 miles!

We're DVC members so a lot of times we are staying on DVC points. Depending on the length of the trip we usually try to stay in a 1 bedroom. So we make a point to go grocery shopping and get things for breakfast and lunches. We eat before we leave for the parks, play around in the parks, come back for lunch, and then go back to the park. We usually eat dinner in whatever park. I've noticed in the last few trips I've been doing this I'm saving a TON of money and its forcing us to pace ourselves and not go crazy. But then again we only live 30 minutes from Disney so we could literally go a few hours and then come home.

We tend to just relax and enjoy our resort now that we live so close. :) We don't stress if we aren't in the parks for hours at a time.

I need someone to talk me down.
I just got into a shouting match with the principal. I lost my cool, but I'm sorry it was justified.
There is a kid at school that is a trouble maker and he gets away with murder. I'm so over it. Today he hit my kid. The school is saying it was an accident. Every freakin' day it's an accident, just today it was my kid. Blah Blah Blah, he's impulsive. Kids frontal lobes don't develop until their teens. Yada Yada I'm sorry I've raised 3 boys, one with impulsive behaviors, guess what, he knows how to control himself when the need arises. Don't freakin make excuses and stop drinking the Blinkville kool-aid.
Oh and to the teacher who called the principal down to the cafeteria, bite me. Yes I told my kid to gather up about 8 of his friends and kick your precious pet students butt, he needs it. This would be the same teacher who hid the precious student when the rest of the damn school was in lock down because he ran away.

OK gotta go cool my jets, I'll be back.
Oh and FWIW, I am pulling DS11 from this school tomorrow and sending him to Catholic school with his brother and sister. I had planned on doing it at the end of the week, but today was the nail in the coffin.

Having been bullied most of my childhood I COMMEND you for what you have done! My mom had the same issue with a principal and they didn't do sh*t! Why is it schools have a NO TOLERANCY policy for bullying but yet when its brought to their attention they don't do crap to the bully? Sorry, its a topic that makes my blood boil. I hope your son is happier in the school with his siblings.

Oh, and as far as you getting the kids together to put the bully in his place my mom told me to do the same thing when I was younger. :rotfl: She told me "If you get suspended I won't be mad. That boy has what is coming to him."

Buffy:  Hitting is never appropriate. You have every right to be frustrated. Accidents happen, but not everyday. I used to be a special education teacher and no matter what the child's disability, hitting was never okay and I always made that very clear. Yes, making it clear was sometimes difficult and required some unusual approaches, but I did it.

I hope you and DS enjoy his new school! :goodvibes

Buffy I would also word a letter to the Principal, Superintendent and all board of ed members telling them the reason you are leaving.

WOW! That is awful :/ The school my kids go to have a HUGE anti-bullying policy! The kids here get one strike and your out! Reading stories such as yours, make same tremendously grateful for this policy!

Best of luck at the new school!

Hi Team! Just a quick check in to say hi! Not much to report, still pluggin' away but didn't lose any weight this week. I did manage 2.5 miles on the treadmill this morning so hopefully I'll be able to complete the 5k in April like I'm planning. Off to play dance central 2 now my new favorite!

Thanks for letting me vent. I don't want to sound like some horrible person who hates kids, especially those with disabilities, on the contrary my youngest boy has ADD and we suspect Aspergers but that's no excuse for poor behavior. This kid can control himself, I dealt with him as an assistant for the cross country team. He just knows I won't put up with his BS or his brothers and that's why they behave when I'm around. They have the school snowed, I hate this because as many of you know I have dumped years of blood, sweat and tears into that building and to having to leave like this on such a sour notes just sets me off.
I've had board of Ed members and other parents texting and calling since I left school. That's what happens when you live in a small town, the whole work finds out in about an hour that your kid was punched in the face.

Some days you just need to take a break and relax... My latest blog on Sparkpeople:
I worked out so hard yesterday that it literally wore me out. I walked a mile and a half, most of it was from grocery shopping at Wallly World. Then later on that evening I did my Biggest Loser workout on the kinect. I definately felt the burn during the workout and went and soaked in a hot bath for half an hour. Then climbed in bed and watched 3 episodes of Hot in Cleveland. I wound up crashing around 11:30. I'm one who is rarely in bed before midnight unless I'm either just exhausted or sick. I slept hard for 12 hours!

I woke up around 1130am and Alan (my fiance) made me a late breakfast. I've been parked in the nice leather recliner sectional with my laptop in front of me. I've gone back and forth between Sparkpeople, FB, and my Disney board I'm part of.

Have you ever noticed when you try to relax and take time for yourself your brain is constantly going a mile a minute? I've subconsciously got this to do list going through my head. I'm literally fighting with my inner voice "Just relax and take some time for you. The things around the house can wait a day. Its not the end of the world." Trust me its been a chore today just fighting with my inner voice, LOL.

Going to get back on track tomorrow and get things tackled around here. Hope everyone had a great Monday!

Quick check-in to say hi. Was a work weekend for me which is hwy i did not post. Worked Sat 6am-2 and then Mass at 5:30. Sun. was work 6-2:30 and an Epiphany party. Afterwards i cam home a crashed. Had to drag myself to do my AVON orders and the into the shower and bed. Only have 32 hours this week at the store and my only thought about this is

Thank You God:worship:

Be back later.

Buffy: Vent away. You have every right to be frustrated and upset. Your son does not deserve to be disrespected in any way. You've done more than I could ever imagine for DS's school and deserve to be treated respectfully as well. You did not sound offensive at all. Please do not worry about that. I have yet to meet a child that with a day or two of instruction, cannot understand that hitting someone is inappropriate. There are no excuses for days (or months) of hitting other students.

You are an awesome mother and I hope that tomorrow is a better day! :goodvibes

Worfie: I am originally from Jeff City. I transferred to Truman midway through my junior year and got both my bachelor's and my master's from them. I now live in the KC metro area.

Happy Monday morning friends!!

I noticed you mentioned Rainbows in your post. Is your daughter a Rainbow Girl? I was in Rainbows until our state seceded due to issues with the governing board and then was in the break off organization until I reached majority. Many fond memories. I'm sorry that your husband and son did that. It's frustrating when people don't do what they promise.

I'm sorry you're having knee pain, but glad it's nothing too major. Hopefully by the time you're exepcted to be walking around and up on your feet it will be resolved. I'm so excited for you and can't wait to hear all about it!

I need someone to talk me down.
I just got into a shouting match with the principal. I lost my cool, but I'm sorry it was justified.

Oh and FWIW, I am pulling DS11 from this school tomorrow and sending him to Catholic school with his brother and sister. I had planned on doing it at the end of the week, but today was the nail in the coffin.

I'm sorry you are having such a bad experience. Violence against another student is never okay. I had kids in my old classroom who had agression issues related to their disabilities. Never did we excuse it, and we did everything we possibly could to make sure that they never touched another student. It does not matter the disability, the school has a duty to protect all students. It makes my blood boil when I hear stories like this. I hope you like your new school better.

I am so fed up with being sick. I woke up today, stuffed up to high heaven, again! If this is a cold, it wil be my third one since Thanksgiving. I'm seriously considering putting all of my kids in little hazmat suits. (JK, but man, it's tempting.) I did see the allergist today who was perplexed by the reaction, thinks it's either a food reaction or contact dermititis, so he gave me a script for that, and I see the ENT tomorrow. Maybe I will finally have some answers!

I start my online grad course in Deafblindness today. My other three courses start next week. I found out that I might be getting into Colorado's orientation and mobility program which will add at least one more course this semester. It's going to be a doozy, but well worth it!

QOTD: When you can, bring your lunch. At least when I was there Aramark (the employee cafeteria) was really hit or miss when it came to healthy choices. Prepare stuff in advance on your day off. Don't carry money for the vending machines so it gets rid of temptation. When you're visiting the parks, I would try to limit snacks. If you're with friends, see if people will split with you, even the counter service portions can be pretty big. Sometimes they will let you order off the kids menu.

My favorite health(ier) meal is half a hummus sandwich and clam chowder from the Columbia Harbor House. And remember, you'll be doing lots of walking, so that will definitely help!

:wave2: Gonna have to break up my abbreviated responses since I am so far behind. I never ended up feeling better yesterday and just had a crappy day. Today I just have that "I felt miserable yesterday hangover" but am doing okay today.

Oh! I did hear back from my dr about the lupus test. It was negative. So, that is a relief.
:yay: Very happy to hear that. Now I hope they can find the answers you need.

Do they come with a warranty? You are right they are too expensive to stop working so soon! I would furious too...I have to have my morning coffee! I have tried several times to quit coffee mainly because my blood pressure is borderline high but I can't. I have managed to cut down my intake, but I'm quiet cranky without my first cup of the day.

BTW, someone posted about how cool it was for you to be Mickey... I agree, like the pp I know that there are people in those costumes but sometimes I forget... So the first time I saw that picture I was like where is she? Then I realized you were Mickey... amazing!

I did the same thing! :rotfl2: I thought it was just a picture of Mickey to keep her inspired with her love of Disney but then realized there was more to it. ;)

My coffee maker is under warranty which is why I am so durn ticked off. Keurig is being a butt about it. I can return it to Costco but really I want Keurig to deal with it since it is the right thing to do. I just want to talk to someone that isn't reading from a script. She just kept telling me to descale the machine even after I told her I just did a few days ago. And I kept trying to explain the strange noises that seem to be an obvious pump problem which are all exactly the same as hundreds of others I have read on the internet who after descaling 47 times Keuirg finally sent them a new one.

I could not love the concept any more if I designed it myself. Unfortunately it also works like I designed it myself!:lmao: Anyway, we have figured out a workaround for now until I decide to deal with it again.

Hi LTS! I'm making your chili for dinner tomorrow -- thanks for the recipe!
.
How did it turn out?

Does anyone have any great meals they are willing to share? Kristina had some that really appealed to me that I'm going to snag! I can think of a side dish that I want to try, or a main that I want to try, but never a complete meal. I am working on having more appealing meals. I only have so many tricks up my sleeve for chicken dinners.

I'm am beginning to get frustrated with my GF options. I dread going out to meals because there are so few choices. So far, the only GF winner we have found is cornbread. My father's birthday is this week and I have a recipe, but I'm so nervous that it's going to taste horrible. Maybe I will attempt a half recipe on Monday. I'm sure I could get one of the neighbors who eats a lot of her meals GF to try it and tell me what she thinks. She has been very supportive of me being GF so I think she'd be ammenable to trying the cake. I'll try it too of course, but I'm pretty willing to call anything I cook good.
I know everyone is sick of how much I talk about how much I love South Beach but when you are searching for entree ideas try looking for low carb/South Beach or even Atkins. Instead of trying to figure out how to make things gf look for recipes that already are! You will find quite a lot of them don't use any gluten products. The ones that use a little flour for thickener you can substitute potato flour or cornstarch. When we were doing GF I found I didn't have to do much for our dinners since we were already doing a SB menu. Add a side of rice, potato, or Rice Pasta and veggies.

For instance tonight we are having a chicken stuffed with bacon and cheese simmered in Italian Diced Tomatoes and spinach on the side. The kids will have pasta. When we did GF I made 2 pots of pasta, one regular and one GF. That stuff is too darn expensive to feed it to everyone!

You may need to adapt them to adjust the fat if you find Atkins type recipes.

Ok everyone!! Get those weigh ins sent!! You know we want to kick Donald's feathery butt!!!!! lol

:lmao::thumbsup2

I got our Team logo into my signature!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a bit excited about my 2 accomplishments in the last hour or so.

. I have no idea how much breadcrumbs my father put in the meatloaf last night.
:thumbsup2 :cheer2:
I used Rice Crackers (sometimes found in the Japanese section) in my meatloaf to make it GF and it worked beautifully, if you need another substitute.

I will be taking four classes from three colleges this semester: One in Braille, one in teaching kids with disabilities, an ASL course through a community college, and a course in Deafblindness.

At one point I lost 15 lbs on WW. It works well, but it just wasn't working for me which is why I switched to Jenny. I have had many of those days and you have that kind of "oh crap" moment when you go to track it. My downfall on WW was a mental one. Since it is weekly and your FPs are weekly, if I felt like I screwed up royally, I would just give up on the week or feel like I couldn't use FPs at all and feel deprived. I also had the issue that points were so tedious and it was so hard to count points at a place like the World where they have foods that are not cookie cutter foods. It does work for a lof people, so I'm not knocking it. I just came to realize that even though I was successful once, the multiple failed attempts since then show that it is not right for me.

Right now I take a multi and fish oil because I do haev high cholesterol and it brought my cholesterol down. But I wouldn't take it if I did not have a cholesterol issue or if it had not been approved by my doctor.

I have always wanted to learn ASL. I took a class years ago but didn't learn much and remember even less!

I have a fish oil supplement that I am supposed to take but the thing is HUGE! I can't swallow it.

QOTD: We too went to the zoo (the Kansas City Zoo) and it was amazing! We then went to the Seasons 52 that opened in the Country Club Plaza in KC. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. The menu completely changes every season and they have dishes that rotate out every week so that everything is prepared using fresh, seasonl ingredients. Hence the name. Everything is under 475 calories, and they were the ones that started the mini dessert craze. I was so happy when I drove by it on the way to the doctor as I had wanted to go to one ever since leaving Orlando.

LTS: I love your user name, but sometimes I read it as Loves to Crap. LOL.
You aren't the only one;) which is why I now shorten it to LTS. It bugged me a lot years ago when I realized that was what people thought but I have embraced my crappiness and I definitely get remembered!:goodvibes There was once a question on the CB of "the most often misread username" and guess who won! :rolleyes1

That restaurant sounds really good!

My fav make ahead is the 'salad in a jar'. Too much work, or I'm too lazy to salad prep every day. Here's the site again with the 'recipe'. :)http://www.salad-in-a-jar.com/skinny-secrets/salad-in-a-jar

Jo
My FoodSaver jar sealers are on their way!!!:yay:

I have a super easy one...if anyone wants it.

4-5 chicken breasts, sprinkled with cumin, little bit of pepper
Cover with 1 can black beans(rinsed) and 1 jar salsa
Cook all day on low. You can eat on salad, low carb tortillas, or make baked nachos. It comes out really tender and my DH and kids love it!
We make what I call Salsa Chicken but it is just chicken and salsa in the crock pot. I like the way yours sounds better! I was already planning to make it tomorrow so I am going to use your additions.

Hi, everyone! I'm finally popping in to introduce myself.

I've decided that I'm sick of never wanting to be in photos, sick of clothes shopping being miserable (and not being able to buy the cute clothes at WDW!), and sick of not being happy with who I am.

On Dec 27, DH & I assembled our elliptical machine and have been using it since then. Between actually exercising & counting calories, I've lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks
 Welcome and great job!

You have one of my most favorite signature pics of all the DIS! :goodvibes It makes me smile everytime I see it.

Good morning Team MICKEY!! How are you all doing?????? I just wanted to pop on in and say hello and say I miss having us all together and seeing all my old friends!! Not that any of us would be able to keep up with one thread for all of us, so I know it needs to be this way.
:wave2: Great to see you!

Wow-- can't miss a day 'round here. Finally caught up to today and that'll help me find my place later. Had an old girl pass away on us yesterday, I knew it was coming but still a shock.

She was just a great all around kitty-- never gave us any problems ever once. At least she died comfortably and didn't suffer much. Husband found her sleeping in my sons bed in the morning so she died in her sleep. she was about 15. Her name was Trixie but I called her Sis because she would follow my son around 9most likely because he always had food lol).
.
 So sorry to hear about your cat. :guilty:

I am avoiding meal planning by reading both threads...

I had a nasty headache yesterday too! I went to bed at 9:00. What is up with all the headaches???
Love when you stop by!:goodvibes
I know a lot of friends posted on FB they had headaches this weekend. I think it may be a weather thing. Ours has been very screwy with the temps up and down.

I'm on a roll today... I found 3 jobs to apply for. I will wait to apply on Tuesday only because my DS will be waking up from his nap soon and I really need to concentrate for that.
Good luck on the job apps!:cheer2:

Tonight's dinner is chicken enchiladas. I told my parents at lunch and what does my mom say? "Did I approve of that?" She's fine with it. She just had to put in her two cents. Unlinke all of you, they were not nearly as impressed with my menu planning. I was so proud of myself and appreciate all the kind words. Sometimes it would be nice if I got some credit IRL. Ah, who cares? I have all of you!

I now need to organize the pantry so all the GF food is accessible and not on top of wheat products. I'm off to do that.
CC
 Sorry you mom and family are not being as supportive as you need them to be. I think you are doing a great job!

If they aren't doing a good job of keeping things separate you may want to get a plastic box with a lid to put your GF stuff in to keep it from being contaminated. Ideally you want it in a completely separate shelf or part of the pantry from anything with gluten.

Catch up on responses post #2-- The smilie police got me on the last one so will have to break these up even more! Smilieing less is not an option! :teeth:

My meals are planned in 13-14 day menus. I don't typically follow it to the letter. It just lets me know what I have the stuff for. Then I cook from that whatever sounds good that day.
That is the way I do it too. While I try to stick to a schedule I consider it really a guideline. I dont' even attach a day to a meal anymore, just an order and a realization that it can and will change.

Friday I got called in to sub so there went my lovely clean the house plan the meals do the shopping day. After work had just enough time grab a leftover bagel/cream cheese, pick up DH and head up the freeway to our kids' basketball games. Traffic was atrocious and missed the first half of DS2's. After the games we hit a Burgerville (mmmmmm) DSs and a friend we gave a ride to absolutely scarfed their meals--teenage boys . I had a small chocolate milkshake (to die for!) and we split a small order of their waffle fries. Got home close to 11 PM.

Sat. DS2 had to be at church at noon for a rehearsal of a 2 o'clock service. We went to that then we had a dinner at 6 with a group from church. Ate at a restaurant and talked about how lovely the service had been (our deacon was ordained; DS was a reader). Didn't have any dessert, but the group ordered appetizers and pretty much everything was fried (but oh so delicious). I brought home over half of my chicken (ate all my veggies) so will probably split that with DH for lunch today.

Two basketball games and a band concert to plan for during this coming week. Plus Friday I have to make dinner for the varsity basketball team. I sub until 3:15 that day so am thinking it'll be a cold dinner--something I can just grab out of the fridge and head over to school. One year I did Subway, gave the kids their own order forms then took those to the store. I may price that again.

Though I'd taken down all the holiday decorations yesterday (kinda did it in 10 minutes here 10 minutes there), but this morning got up and found some more! Glad I didn't take the boxes to the attic yesterday! We joke that those poor wise men travel all over the house and finally get to the manger on January 6th, then January 7th are boxed up!

Well, I should go accomplish something. Besides walking the dog am not sure what I'm going to do for exercise--definitely need something aerobic after all my eating--roll me to the Y!

I am exhausted just reading this! I have to admit that I have been very selfish about not going in to sub when I have other things that I want to do that day. Of course I swear the days I have NO plans and would love to work I don't get called and I only get called on the days with a sick kid at home, a dr appt or plans I just don't want to cancel. :headache:

LOL on the Wise Men, DD11 found one of ours yesterday. EVERYTHING is put away so I told her to put behind the photos on the mantle. We take the photos down to decorate for Christmas so we will find it next Christmas!

Hi Team Mickey Just wanted to say hello to my friends over here.

I am fine. I had a stomach virus this week right when I was taking ds to meet his friends on his way to Gambia. He left on the 2nd and will be back on the 13th. We have heard from him twice so far and all seems to be going okay.
.
:wave2: Great to see you! Glad your son didn't get the virus and you are feeling better.

I try to do a Let's Dish session once per month. It's one of those services where you go to their location and fix up your meals, then take them home to your freezer. We have a side-by-side fridge/freezer, so space is a serious issue. So I do four entrees, split, for a total of eight dinners. Those typically serve three people - and our two DDs count as one serving, really. I find they're very cost effective for us, and it encourages us to try some new things. I also love that they publish WW points and points plus for their meals - I can rule some out right off the bat, but there are always lots of great choices. I'll stop sounding like a commercial now. :)
I have been very curious about those places but have never been to one. I think we have one that opened recently not too far from me. But since DH does the majority of the cooking he would think it was a total waste of money to do. I would love to try one though.

Today I slept in and missed church sicne I couldn't sleep last night. I felt like I had things crawling on my face (itching). I can't wait for this stupid thing to go away. I also was having stupid hot flashes from the steroids, which also equalled out to weird dreams.
Shoot, I was hoping you would be feeling better. I really hope they get it figured out.

I don't get the FF yogurt. I don't eat a lot of "diet" type foods. I would rather eat something that I enjoy but eat less of it and watch my serving sizes.
that being said I do drink crystal light at times when I am getting tired of water. i don't like wasting calories on liquids.

I will also add flavored ice to my water. Love drinking ice cold water and the ice adds just enough flavore. My grocery stores sells lemon, lime, and tangerine flavored ice.

I absolutely feel the same way. I don't like most "diet" foods and no calorie sweeteners. I would much rather put a small amount of a good Sharp Cheddar on something than a handful of plastic tasting light cheese. And I am finding ways to make my regular salad dressing stretch rather than go to lighter ones. Another reason why I love South Beach, they actually discourage the use of a lot of the low fat/fat free stuff.

I have never ever heard of buying flavored ice! Is there a specific brand you get? It sounds interesting.

Oh my goodness, I'm just getting around to introducing myself and we are 37 pages in, ouch. Not sure I'll ever catch up, so I'm going to try to stay on from here.

My name is Patty. I've joined the BL a year ago here and it's helped me be accountable. I lost 50 pounds last year and am hoping to get another 25 off. For the first time in most of my adult life I'm no longer obese and am just over weight. If I can get this last bit off, for the very first time, I'll be in the 'normal' range (high end but that's ok). Here is my last year and this year Disney trips (the very beginning of December).

[
I'm working full time, going to school part time, towards a degree in nursing. I've just spent the past six plus weeks with my mom in the hospital recovering from a traumatic brain injury. It wreck havoc on any 'normal' eating and I easily put on a few pounds leading up to Christmas. I'm working on getting those off and the rest of these for this year.

Hoping to get to 'know' more of you and I'll try to check in here each day.
Just jump in when and where you can. So sorry to hear about your mom, that kind of stress affects all aspects of your health. I hope she is doing better?

Amazing photos and so inspirational! It is great to have you here. :goodvibes

I have a DIS weight tracker, but when I login and change the numbers to my current weight, it simply logs me out and doesn't change the tracker. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I really think seeing the weight change-no matter how small-might be encouraging.

Unfortunately the DIS Weight Trackers don't work. I am not sure why and I have let our WMs know so I am not sure why it can't be fixed. You can either:
a)basically make a new ticker every time you want to change it and insert the new code
or
b) as much as I hate to say this, use a ticker from another site.

I really do wish that ours could get fixed. I would suggest that you send an email to admin@wdwinfo.com. Maybe if enough people complain it will move up the priority list.

Not sure what the moral of the story is...ease into things, or exercise is evil :stir:! :p At any rate, if you are starting an exercise program, take it easy. We don't want any dead Mickeys around here! :lmao:
I am an awful person because that made me :lmao:! I am going with the exercise is evil!

But you do make a good point-- take it easy to start and ALWAYS see a dr before starting an exercise program, or at least if you have any problems. Sounds like you may want to talk someone about the asthma attack. Hopefully next time goes better.

I forget to mention a NSV that I had earlier this week: Our Orientation and Mobility Specialist asked me if I had been losing weight. I haven't really lost that much yet, so it was nice that somebody noticed!
:cheer2: Love those NSV! It is so wonderful when people start to notice.

check in for my flight and 8:30 tomorrow...well, actually I guess it's later this morning now. Since I'm flying Southwest, I say it's a lot like registering for classes: log onto the website and put in your info 5-10 minutes before the appointed time, keep refreshing the page until the system lets you in; once it does, click as fast as you can and hope for the best! :thumbsup2 The flight isn't sold out at any price point, so I'll take that as a positive sign.

Mom and I will be taking a trip to the local ImmediateCare tomorrow morning, because something is definitely wrong with my knee from my fall down the stairs. It's not bruised and I didn't hit it, but it's the side that slipped on the stair in the first place. There's a rather large bump that feels like bone that shouldn't be there-Mom thinks I may have dislocated my knee cap. It still hurts, and is kind of making cracking noises when I bend/unbend it.:scared1: Hopefully it's something they can fix quickly!
OH NO! I hope that knee is no big deal!

I can't believe the time is almost here. It seems like it was just yesterday you were waiting to see if you would get in. I am so excited for you!:dance3:

Yesterday was a frantic bit of cleaning out/packing up/moving furniture to get ready for today's carpet installation. I am totally frustrated with my family though. I packed up everything I could in the office in the morning (it too so much longer than I thought). I put EVERYTHING that DH needed to take responsibility for all together and he had ALL DAY to take care of it. But here it is, 5:45 am, it is STILL HERE! :headache: At this point it will all get dumped in a big tote and he can deal with unpacking it tomorrow.

DD also did NOT finish cleaning up her desk area in here (although she made some effort ) and she still has stuff on the stairs to be carried up.... and of course, now she is gone for the day!

 You deserve the mental fit, and probably a physical one too! I have become a huge believer in the BIG BOX DUMP. If they don't clean it after you have asked and given them the opportunity then it all gets dumped into a big box and put in their room to deal with. ALL OF IT! DD11 finally cleaned up her side of the scrapbook room this weekend when I brought a nice big empty box downstairs and set it in the living room. :teeth: She did an amazing job and it looks so nice now.

Of course if I am really ticked off the big box gets hidden. . . . :rolleyes1

Good Morning all!

I joined the team late last week, signed up for the inches challenge and healthy choices challenge but really didn't commit to get going.

EVERYONE HAVE A FUN AND FIT WEEK!
:wave2: :welcome:

This is where the thread really starts to intimidate me, it's getting looong if I miss a day. Home with a sick kid today so I can check in, hope to get here at least once a day to stay on track with you all!:cheer2:
Just jump in where you can and read as much as you can. You don't have to do it all! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in really quickly. I had a headache all day, but am finally feeling better, so I need to make up some time.

On the up side I did really well on my food. I am remotivated. It does me so much good to read about all of you and to see some great pictures!!!!!

Have a happy Healthy week!!
Nancy

Gotta post a big  for Buffy! That is ridiculous, and I don't blame you one bit! :grouphug:

FoaM -- Great to see another Truman alum! When I see photos I can't believe how much things have changed. I went to Univ of IL for my Masters -- I feel like Truman prepared me well! Apparently they think so too because they are relentless with Tel-Alumni :rotfl: And yes, it has been a long time for me -- my BFF's daughter is in her Freshman year now. Actually, it was NMSU when I was there

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled thread -- I've gotten away from giving myself rewards, because I seem to be aiming too high, and then I'd never get one. This week, if I do all 4 of my planned workouts, and don't eat anything unplanned (this means candy, pretty much) at work, I'm getting a new bottle of nail polish and giving myself a manicure. Surely I can manage that ;)
