Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

I suck at math. Regular math I'm good at, Algebra I can hold my own at, but do not ask me about fractions, percentages, and decimals.

That is me as well!

I carry a handcuff key on my keyring. I have had it since college when I worked in a Juvenile Detention Facility. It is a small standard key so not really noticeable and I am not sure it would even work on most handcuffs today. It has been there for 20 years so at this point why tempt fate by taking it off. I have actually had to use it twice since I left the job! Once was when I was working at the mall and the security guys thought it would be funny to handcuff a coworker of mine to a door (she was a huge flirt and was always playing around with them). I went to look for her and when I found her I pulled out my keys and unlocked her. To this day I don't think the guys ever figured out how she got loose! The 2nd time was while I was teaching in a daycare and a police officer came to talk to the class. She put her handcuffs on 2 kids to show them what it was like then realized she left her keys in the car  She was really :scared1: when I walked over to my desk and got my keys and unlocked them!

:rotfl:At first I was think well ok that really is a secret! :rotfl: But yes that is pretty cool and who knew you would need them not once but twice!

Yesterday QOTD: Red is my favorite color! Has been since I long as I can remember, I love it because it is so bright and it just makes me happy.

Today a fact about me... I can't sing but I love to. I can't really carry a tune though to my ears I sound great but I'm way off. :headache:

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 5!
This week’s group loss = 30.4 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.41 %
Total group weight loss so far 284.2 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 72 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
54% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 5?

The WISH Biggest Loser Spring Challenge Team Mickey Week 5 Superstars!!

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 5 out of 21 weeks, so the challenge is 24% complete.

Whether you post, lurk or just pm your weight and check results on Tuesdays, you have made a commitment to yourself. And that is the biggest inspiration of all!BY Octoberbride03

QOTD for Monday, Feb. 6, 2012: Share a random fact about yourself.

I played Cello in grade school. We moved when I entered into Jr. High and that school you had to have your own teacher & instrument. I still look at Cellos every once in a while, wishing that I'd been able to keep that going.

I am NOT a morning person.

QOTD for Tuesday, 2/7/2012: It's always good to talk about accomplishments. I know it keeps me going. Share with us an accomplishment (health related or not) you've had since January 1, 2012.

I am more interested in exercising and have attempted walk/run intervals outside.

I am expanding my wadrobe.

I cleaned my bedroom. I had 2 different piles of stuff lying around for years. One was from grad school, from which I graduated in Spring 2009. The other was from undergrad: Spring 2006.

I also have made some progress with emotional eating.

Have a great, OP day tomorrow everyone!

CC

QOTD random fact: I hate housework. Can't stand it. I tell people if God isn't merciful I'll go to Hell and be a maid! I, too, would love to learn sign language. That and Spanish (what was I thinking in high school and college learning French--oh yeah--living in Paris. There was that!) Last trip to WDW I watched Beauty and the Beast while all the guys went to Lights, Motor, Action! I think I watched the people signing the show more than the show! They were absolutely fantastic. And yes, I loved the show! :cloud9:

Been eating too much today. I'd forgotten how you just feel so full all the time. What have I been thinking?! munch munch Tomorrow is a new day. Tomorrow is also senior night for basketball so I will have to stand on the court in front of the crowd. Thank goodness for WISH. I am feeling so much better about my figure and having to do that. Losing 17 pounds has also helped--it's not 50 but it's a start!

Subbing all day tomorrow in the same class I was in today. It's a special ed class and we were teasing the guy I'll be tomorrow about his "good cop" role that he was assigned today. Tonight when he texted me to see if I could work I got excited because I will get to be the good cop! Then I realized it probably wouldn't work because there was an incident with the kiddo today and I had a very minor role as a "bad cop." Let's hope the kiddo has no problems tomorrow! :duck:

Wow - I have made it on to the top ten - even if it is at number 10!! :cool1:

QOTD - my biggest accomplishment is actually sticking to my diet for more than a couple of days, which is my usual. So far it has been five weeks and I am still motivated.:banana:

QOTD for Tuesday, 2/7/2012: It's always good to talk about accomplishments. I know it keeps me going. Share with us an accomplishment (health related or not) you've had since January 1, 2012.

I think my biggest accomplishment this year has been making exercise much more of a priority. I'm now exercising several times a week, with much more strength work than I'd been doing before, and I think that's been a big part of the success I've been having.

Speaking of, woohoo! I'm displaying that clippie with pride!! :) It's weird - I'm having this pattern of a big loss one week and then little to nothing the next, then a pretty big loss the next week. It's bizarre, but the overall rate is solid and steady, so I'll take it. I think I'll actually be up a little this week, but not for anything I've done "wrong," really - my food and exercise were definitely OP. I'm just feeling that cyclical bloat and general ooginess, and I never seem to have a good WI when that's around. Oh well. Better to log it and move on instead of stressing about it. I know I'm doing the right things! Today is my WI day, so I'll know how bad it is soon...

Tomorrow will be a big challenge, as I have three (!) meals out. A breakfast meeting, lunch with a friend after a board meeting, and dinner out with another family. UGH. That's the kind of day where I usually throw in the towel, but I have breakfast planned, at least, and an idea about lunch. Dinner is at a wonderful Latin/South American place, and I know what I *shouldn't* order but haven't yet figured out what I *will* order. The arroz con pollo there is to die for, but it's a meeeellion points...

XO

YESSSSS!!!! i made top 10!!

congrats to myweegirls on being the biggest loser this week! :cool1: keep up the good work liz!

a big loss then a little loss then a big loss? hey, they are all still losses!!

feels so good to get on that list! i've been really working hard. of course i'm up a pound since then but since january i'm definitely moving in the right direction.

QOTD my accomplishment so far this year is that i'm back to running again. my baby is 10 weeks old now and i started running again a few weeks ago. i'm still really slow and carrying an extra 20-25lbs has made running harder but i ramped up to 5 miles on sunday :woohoo: i'm proud that i got back into it and am making time to train. i'm hoping for a half marathon in may if i can figure out this issue with my foot i'm having.

I knew someone here would have the answer! Thanks!! :cool1:

I'm doing a better job of tracking my food. I know my problem is "grazing" and having to write it down forces me to evaluate everything I am putting into my mouth. It's not always pretty and sometimes I "forget" (hmmm...like those darn Oreos every once in a while) but it's a work in progress....

Speaking of, woohoo! I'm displaying that clippie with pride!! :)

Way to go, Liz!!! :woohoo::woohoo: And Nancy!! And all of us!! (I tried to re-post the list but that darn poof fairy keeps making it disappear...) Second time for me, too!:banana: Congrats to all of us, whether we're on the list or not!!

Nancy, :woohoo::woohoo: on the 5 mile run!! I think I am going to sign up for another half too. I'm trying to get to a comfortable 45 minute run at a 10 minute pace and then plan to start adding the longer weekend runs in. That's what February is for - and then hope to be outside starting in March with the long runs.

I went to my early morning spin class (5:15AM) this morning and holy cow. It's a good thing I got there and was in line before the Y opened. Some of the people who got there at 5AM on the dot (when the Y opens) didn't get a bike! :scared1: Can you imagine getting up at 430AM for a class and not being able to get into it?

My snowbird parents went over to WDW yesterday for the Giants parade. I can't wait to see their pictures.

Have a great day everyone!
Jude :goodvibes

Congrats to Team Mickey!! so proud of all of you! I didn't make the top ten this week because we have some high percentages and that is AWESOME!!!

QOTD? Health accomplishment so far this year? I am eating breakfast every day (well, sometimes not the weekends if I sleep in), and it is not a fast food breakfast! Can't remember the last time I stopped at Chickfila!!

Good morning TEAM MICKEY! ::MickeyMo

A big :woohoo: and :yay: for all our superstars and especially our Biggest Loser, Liz! You all :rockband:

I hate doing dishes!!! I will scrub toilets before I'll do dishes. All of my kids can wash dishes because I detest it so much.

Boy you really must hate the dishes if you would rather scrub toilets! :lmao:

Nice job on the movie link for Jude! :thumbsup2

Hi LTS! You win the prize for the most interesting fact with your handcuff key story! :cool2:

Hello, all! I am back from FL and ready to catch up a bit and be the "coach" starting Friday.

Welcome back, Julie! :goodvibes Glad that you had a good time on vacation and a big :worship: for staying OP! :yay:

I have a phobia about missing lunch. If I do, I am totally freaked out. Why?: I was deployed to Iraq several years ago. I didn't always take the time to go to lunch but decided to go one day. While at lunch, a mortar landed outside my office trailer and the whole office was shredded. Since then, lunch and I are best friends. :rolleyes1

And you win the prize, Jude, for the scariest story. :scared1::hug: Your guardian angel was working overtime for you for sure! :littleangel:

Today a fact about me... I can't sing but I love to. I can't really carry a tune though to my ears I sound great but I'm way off. :headache:

Isn't that funny? Maybe it isn't as bad as you think it is? :flower3:

I played Cello in grade school. We moved when I entered into Jr. High and that school you had to have your own teacher & instrument. I still look at Cellos every once in a while, wishing that I'd been able to keep that going.

You could -- I started playing the piano at age 49 because of one of donac's Heathy Habits. It's never to late! :goodvibes

This week's winning team with 17.35% is Team Mickey!!

Way to go TEAM MICKEY!

Yikes time to get kid to school. Be back later to finish replies. :cheer2:

Back again to finish my replies. :goodvibes

You're still here and that is an accomplishment, too! :goodvibes Everyone who is still here is a winner because we NEVER GIVE UP on ourselves! :flower3:

I am one teeny, tiny half pound away from 60 pound clippie. :woohoo: And just a few pounds away from ONE-derland for the first time in 20 years. I'm getting so excited. :dance3:

Have a great day all! :flower3:

Looking for a good recipe for Pork Chops for tonight. Usually we just grill them but DH won't be home to grill so I have to cook (gotta remember to unhook the smoke detector ;) ) . The girls don't really like them plain grilled anyway. Most recipes I find use either fruit or mustard and we don't like either. I found a few with balsamic vinegar which I would like but no one else would. We all have our own little pickiness but unfortunately they are all different which can make things harder to make!

Had a busy and tiring day yesterday and didn't eat great. I slept pretty well last night but I have a headache so not sure what I am going to do today. It is already after 1pm and so far I have had breakfast and lunch and that is about it!

Just popping on to say a big HI to all of my Team Mickey friends! I try to read when i get email update, but I don't even have time to keep up with my own team thread, never mind reading yours too!

I miss you all and I can't wait until we merge! TTYL...................P

I knew it! That clippie will be gone next week - today's WI (my WW meets on Tuesdays) was up 0.8 for me, which is pretty much what I was expecting thanks to that monthly bloat and general ick. At least I know I stayed OP last week, so I can safely blame being a girl. :) And, really, under a pound, to me, is essentially staying the same. Right? I'm going to bask in the glow of the clippie until I have to give it up! :yay:

Do you have any salsa verde? Or even regular salsa? I make a delicious pork chile verde in the crock pot with a bottle of green salsa and an onion. Or mole sauce if the folks would eat something spicy -- but you would have to buy it or make it. It's not too hard to make.

You earned it! Relax and enjoy it now. :goodvibes And knowing that is your pattern so you don't get discouraged --- priceless! :cool2:

I didn't do much yesterday and decided I needed to be more productive today. I went to Whole Foods and found a few things. I don't think I bought anything new to try, but I felt good about being productive.

Of course, I didn't do much else today. I did send an e-mail that was very important and composing it took some time. I need to clean out my purse. I will probably do that tonight. I think I'll go to the library and pick out some magazines to read while at the gym. I must of eaten something I shouldn't have because I feel icky. Hopefully, I'll feel like going to the gym tomorrow.

Congratulations to all of us on our accomplishments! We are a great group of 1/2 marathon runners, moms, cooks, exercise enthusiasts, food journalers, and friends!

Congratulations to our Top 10 BLs and all of us for participating! Lisa said it beautifully when she called knowing our patterns "priceless!" :thumbsup2

Have a great evening everyone!
