:I thought you had a pool. I understand what you mean though. I am not a big fan of being wet and cold.

I live really close to a neighborhood community center with a nice big pool, a good sized fitness center and it has 2 lovely jacuzzis and a sauna. The problem with swimming--A: the hair. I know--frivolous but chlorine really does a number on it. I did find a good shampoo and conditioner at Sally Beauty, but any time I swim I have to wear this horrifying ugly swim cap that doesn't even really work, and it has a strap that takes me 15 minutes to hook. Oh and did I mention--it leaves a mark on my forehead after for hours lol. B: swimsuit. I like those 2 pieces that are like little halter tops-- I'm real picky. I go through a lot of suits pretty quickly because the chlorine just destroys the elasticity--I spend a lot of time in the jacuzzi. I also can't stand the bras where the inner padding moves around....:scared1: I like the ones that have the padding completely enclosed so it doesn't double up or move around lol. Awful awful. So right now I have one gramma top that is ok but isn't flattering and some extremely discolored bottoms. I was getting my suits at Costco but all they've had the last few years are ugly one pieces. Maybe I'll go see if Ross has any suits yet. C: We have a big gorgeous pool but it is constantly being used for swim classes, kid open swims, and the highschool swim team. there's usually a few lanes open for lap swimming but you have to share with the heavy hitter swimmers (the men) and I can't swim like a normal person-- I have to do side or backstroke, mostly because of years of protecting my contacts. I don't share well lol. Awhile back I went and gamboled on a Sat. which is usually pretty great for lap swimming and was chagrined to find a scuba diving class in operation. So I headed to the jacuzzi to wait until the class was over I saw that only a few guys were in so I asked the instructor if it was ok to use the side of the pool they weren't on--sure great. So I get in and I guess that the rest of the class was just on break or something and they're all back in the water....I'm sure the men were having a great time checking me out....they were coming up real close to me under the water lol. I'm pretty stubborn though-- I wanted to swim....lol.

Welcome Something New Wednesday QOTD: Disney is unveiling a brand new tv channel – Disney Junior. This 24/7 channel will be completely devoted to material for preschoolers. If you could have a Disney Channel devoted completely to your interests, what would the programming include?

Maria :upsidedow

I like documentaries-- about Walt, the building of the park, etc. Disney history stuff I guess. Bringing back golden oldies too like the old Mickey mouse club, Wonderful World of disney, some of the old nature stuff. Stuff you don't see a lot of I guess. I also like the silly symphony stuff.

Truth Is...It's Thursday! ;) QOTD: Bippidy Boppidy Boo! :wizard: Your Fairy Godmother is feeling a little competitive with the TinkerBelle :tink: Half marathon approaching, and has decided to grant you an unprecedented THREE WISHES! Caveat: None of these wishes can change the past, they can only affect the future. The first wish is for you and you alone, the second is for your family, and the third is for your favorite Disney character to be featured in an attraction of your choice and design, at the Park of your choice! She’s warming up that magic wand pixiedust:, what are your wishes?

#1:
Always just more time with my friend.

#2. that my daughter could get it together-- her stuff affects everyone here-- including my poor parents.

#3. Oh I don't know-- it would be fun to have an aristocat themed ride--maybe just for the littlest. At Disneyland of course--with all the rest of the Disney park cats...:)

Oh THANK YOU Fairy Godmother! pixiedust: My first wish is that I have a great race on Sunday and cross that finish line feeling strong and happy! :tinker: (I feel confident I can do this anyway but a little extra help never hurts. ;)) My second wish for my family is that our office building sells so we can move on to the next phase of our life -- getting ready for retirement. :cool2: And my third choice is that the Peoplemover comes back to Tomorrowland at Disneyland -- they did have a few characters in some areas back in the old days.

Whew! This is the first time I've been easily able to get on the Disboards in the past few days! :goodvibes

Greetings to all of you! :wave2: I will get back on track when I return from Disneyland on Monday.

I will have my laptop so may be popping in, especially in the hours before the race and as I rest up after the WISH meet. :tink:

Sending a maintain a day early. Have a great week-end! I will be thinking of you all and posting pictures when I can. :goodvibes

Good luck Lisa--take it easy though and listen to your doctor.

Curse you Bob Harper!!!!!

I was all fine a dandy, curled up in my down comforter, watching Biggest Loser and eating my Chocolate Caramel Brulee treat from Starbucks. You had to go and ruin it by guilting me into running!! No gym, no excuse, blah blah blah Kiss my butt Bob!!!!

Yep, I got up and picked up my weights, he just made me feel so guilty  Gotta Love Bob!

QOTD: Exercise[/B] - I have a love hate relationship with exercise. Some days I love it while other days I dread it.

QOTD: 24/7 Disney channel: It would be cool to see all the old classic Disney movies. Also something about behind the scenes about the parks, cruise ships, taking care of the resorts, etc.

First, thank you for sharing your blog, I'm glad you feel comfortable, and even more glad it was cathartic for you

I think your feelings about exercise are pretty typical, it is hard to be "up" every day ::yes::

I think your Disney Channel would be a lot of fun to watch!

I do my Tuesday workout in the evening while watching BL, and I pretend Bob and Dolvett are talking directly to me when they're hollering at the contestants. Definitely gets me going faster on the bike, even though I pretty much have to crawl upstairs afterward!

omg, I would be terrified to have Bob or Dolvett visit in real life while I was working out. They would get me moving faster, doing things I didn't think I could.

After that we went to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D (just us and one other man in the theater).

How was the movie in 3D? What a great experience to practically have a private showing popcorn::

#1 -- I wish for consistency in my diet and exercise. With that, I can achieve my goals :goodvibes

#2 -- I wish for us to all think before we speak to each other. We are not rude or thoughtless people, but with a teenager in the house we push each other's buttons. I would like for us to stop and consider before we make comments.

# 3 -- My favorite Disney character is Belle, and one of my favorite current attractions is Soarin', so I would combine the two -- I would add a Belle-narrated Soarin' over France. I think that would be really fun and interesting, and they could also end at the Disney Park :lovestruc This would be located at DisneyWorld (Epcot is fine...), so I could get there often. But wait, I wouldn't stop there -- Belle would be the first character and location featured, but this Soarin' ride would have other options -- you could soar with Jasmin and Aladdin, Ariel, Pocohantas, a myriad of characters -- but Belle would be the original that started evolving the concept of Soarin'.

Oh THANK YOU Fairy Godmother! pixiedust: My first wish is that I have a great race on Sunday and cross that finish line feeling strong and happy! :tinker: (I feel confident I can do this anyway but a little extra help never hurts.) My second wish for my family is that our office building sells so we can move on to the next phase of our life -- getting ready for retirement. And my third choice is that the Peoplemover comes back to Tomorrowland at Disneyland -- they did have a few characters in some areas back in the old days.

Okay, you are all set for Sunday, but a little pixiedust: can't hurt. The peoplemover sounds like a great idea...Have a wonderful race, you are going to shine! :yay:

oooo you are goooood maria! i'll have to think on this one. Can i wish for a Giants win?

No:rotfl2:

For my wish, I would wish that I was finally successful at losing this weight at that it would not be at a snails pace...LOL

For my family wish, I would wish that my husband's new job would take off and we woudl be able to go from living paycheck to paycheck and be living comfortably...not worrying how bills will be paid each month.

For the ride/attraction... I would love a "Monsters Inc" ride using the door scene or "Emperor's New Groove" where they ride the little car down into Yzma's Lab. Lol...not necessarily my favorite movies or characters but I've seen them recently due to shutting off our cable. I just always thought those two scenes would make great rides. Though I would love anything "Mary Poppins"...like a ride using the scene with the chimney sweeps or something.

I agree, the doors would make an amazing ride! :sulley: I also think Mary got cheated and deserves a ride ::yes::

Oooh, let's see. Wish #1 for me and me alone - I wish for 8-9 hours of sleep a night. Magically. No matter when I end up getting to bed or when I have to get up in the morning. Just add the necessary hours in there. :lmao:

Wish #2 for my family - I wish for us to be able to get financially fit and hence sell our current house and move neighborhoods within a couple of years. This is a big year for us with regard to achieving that goal, and the wish could hopefully keep away those unexpected costs (car repairs, etc.) that interfere!

Wish #3 for a character/attraction at Disney...I'm looking ahead here and can't speak to the storyline in its entirety, but I know I'm going to fall in love with Brave, the new Pixar movie coming out this year, and I'd love to see a girl-centered adventure ride come out of that one. My DDs would love it!

A girl-centered adventure ride would be awesome! Let's hope that is coming! Your wishes all sound great to me :goodvibes

Really frustrated. I eat good food, no high fructose corn syrup, very little processed food, been eating more fruit and veggies, drinking tons of water and working out about 4 times a week. I also have a very active job and I just cannot lose weight anymore. I lost 50 pounds over the course of a few years and kept it off over a year and in the last few months started gaining really fast. At least I've stopped gaining and I'm in killer shape but it doesn't seem possible to actually lose anything. I think part of the problem is my down time-- I'm down. If I want to read, I'll read. If I want to watch tv--I'll sit and watch tv for hours. If I want to be on the pc--well I can be there a few hours too. My job has always been on my feet so I really don't mind stuff like driving for hours, and well-- the sitting around stuff lol. I like riding my bike and walking but the weather has been horrifying lately. Actually it's nice today-- maybe I'll ride my bike on the bike trail instead of working out...thanks for the therapy! :goodvibes

1 - For me, I wish that I lose some pounds in time to make a difference in the Everest Challenge in May, so that I can make it in better time than the 5K Marathon weekend.
2 - For my family, I wish that every one of them could find the one thing in life that would make them happy and change the course of their unhappiness.
3 - Goofy has got to ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority with me...and then we shall go have a Dole Whip - all at the Magic Kingdom!

DH sent this to me, I figured I would share with the class.

Afternoon Mickeys!

This is the first time I've been able to reply all day. I've been trying to log in to the Dis since early this morning. :confused3 Unfortunately, I do not have time now to reply to all of you. I will try to get caught up in the morning.

I am going to a stress-reduction class tonight. My mother is looking forward to the quietness. :rotfl:

Eating has been okay, but not great. I am up a lot since last week's weigh-in too. :headache: I'll probably do some yoga at class tonight. Hoping that helps.

I'm off to eat dinner now.

Night!

:wave2:

This is the first time I've been able to reply all day. I've been trying to log in to the Dis since early this morning. :confused3
!
:badpc: Me too. I finally gave up this morning. Unfortunately I don't think it is going to get better anytime soon. We were supposed to be moving to new servers but something happened so that isn't happening in the near future and I think we have just outgrown the ones we are on. Very frustrating for everyone.:headache:

Feeling better today but didn't do much all day. Need to get my roast in the oven in a few mins. I just made a special Dessert for after dinner-- a Key Lime Pie! Well not really a "KEY" lime pie-- just a lime pie. I used FF Greek Yogurt, and mixed in sf lime jello mix. I made a quick crust with a few T of graham cracker crumbs, a Truvia packet, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a little melted margarine to hold it together. Pressed the crust into the bottom of a custard cup and baked for a few minutes, let cool and added the filling. It is in the refrigerator for later. And since I had more crust then I planned I made a second one with sf lemon jello! I could actually try making a meringue with egg whites and Truvia and still be totally on plan but not sure I want to go to that much work! The Lemon isn't quite as tangy as I had hoped so I think next time I will try using Crystal Light lemonade flavor and see how that does. Also my Kirkland greek yogurt isn't very tangy-- not like the Fage and Chobani taste. That may add to the "pucker" factor that I like with lime and lemon pie.

Maria :upsidedow

The wish for me is obvious-- for my physical health to be back to 100%. I am pretty sure that would be what my family would want most also. But since I get another wish for them and "financial security" seems to be so boring I am going for fantasy-- a free travel anytime, anywhere pass! That way we could get away anytime we want and not have to worry about the cost and could go all the places we would like. If it is possible to always get from our house to the destination with just a wave of the Godmother's wand then that would be even better! I hate the actual "getting there" unless it is on a cruise ship!

Not sure about the last part. I think I would say The Little Mermaid but they are taking care of that! I would love to have a ride for each of the Princesses. Or maybe a ride featuring all the Princesses and you never know which path you will end up taking so you may be Cinderella one time and Belle the next.

Kids are off of school for a 4 day weekend. I hope we can figure out something to do so we don't all kill each other! I think DD16 wants to go to the mall with a friend so Mom's taxi service may be operating all weekend.

I'd like a mixture of this, plus some "behind the scenes" information such as excerpts of special tours such as "Keys to the Kingdom", etc. And fill in with clips from the old Walt Disney tv show that many of us grew up with....

Lisa, we're all sending you pixie dust because you're gonna ROCK THE TINK!!!:tinker: Can't wait to see that beautiful medal hanging around your neck!!

lovetoscrap;43856420 The wish for me is obvious-- for my physical health to be back to 100%. I am pretty sure that would be what my family would want most also. But since I get another wish for them and "financial security" seems to be so boring I am going for fantasy-- a free travel anytime said:
LOVE the idea of a cruise - Disney, of course (esp since the 2013 schedules just came out - Greece, Italy, anyone??)

I'd welcome the appearance of my fairy godmother!! My wish for myself is a little selfish - I want to be happy with my weight. It seems like I've always viewed myself as "fluffy" and looking back, that was true even when my weight was less than 120 lbs! (which it so seriously is not even close to right now...). I'd like to be fit, and strong, and be able to recognize that fact.
My second wish for my family: my husband's health and its effect on our family. My husband was in a very serious accident this summer and suffered a few skull fractures, TBI, punctured ear drum, lost 45% of his hearing and lost his night vision. Oh, and lost his job afterwards. I want him to be healthy and happily employed in a position that he loves (he's a teacher). The kids have been incredible troopers ever since this happened - I'd like all of us to be able to take a deep breath and not be waiting for the next shoe to drop! (That's not meant in a poor-me way. It hasn't been all bad. We're kind of rediscovered each other, as well as rediscovering what is important - being together as a family. We almost lost DH and we have such an appreciation of each other that I think was a little lost pre-accident in our super busy lives...)

New ride: hmmm...a new roller coaster based on the "door" scene from Monsters Inc. Our family loves roller coasters!!:goodvibes

Evening all,

I am your coach for the upcoming week! I hope you have all had a good week! I have not been doing the best. I have been baking all afternoon and evening which has not been good for the diet and I haven't had as much water as I should.

Not sure when I will get a chance to do my weigh in as tomorrow I won't be home until about 9pm or so! Hoping to get up and workout. Just got invited to go to the Cape in late March so I really need to get with it so can look good lounging in the hot tub!

Fridays QOTD: What are your plans for the weekend? How will you incorporate your new healthy ways into the weekend? Make a goal for the weekend involving food and exercise!

Kids are off to bed! Watching Big Bang Theory as we were baking and decorating cakes when it was on earlier! Should head to bed soon as tomorrow is going to be a long day! I will try and check in while at work tomorrow and when I get home if I'm not comatose! Hoping to win at least one basket in the basket raffle and hoping the kids each win a cake during the Cake Walk!

Healthy Habits Week 5: The Seas with Nemo & Friends and Finding Nemo – The Musical

This is classic Disney with a great story line that fits perfectly with Healthy Habits.

This week’s 4 Habits are:

1. “The Seas:” In honor of the water in the sea, Your “habit” is to drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.

2. Nemo’s father and Dory, despite her memory, devised a great plan to find Nemo. Nemo devised his own plan to save himself. Having an eating plan is also a huge help. You need to know what you’ve eaten for the day. A quick check of your journal will help you know how many calories, points, etc. you can safely eat for the day. Recording what one eats and portion control are huge in weight loss and valuable habits to have. This week, write down everything you eat as well as the portion size AND one nutritional aspect. (Example: I had ½ cup of plain uncooked oatmeal, cooked in ½ cup of nonfat milk, with 1 tablespoon of walnuts and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and that totals 350 calories.)

3. Again, you don’t have to eat seaweed, but you do need veggies in your diet. This week, your “habit” is to have 5 servings of veggies and fruit total each day. Use your plan to determine what counts as a serving.

4. Fish is an excellent source of protein. You don’t have to eat fish, but you do need protein in your diet. Eat 2 servings of protein per day. Note: Use your plan to determine what counts as a serving.

Mini-Challenges

1. “Keep on Swimming”: Exercise for a total of 30 minutes at least 3 days this week.

2. To help improve your memory, Do something that works your brain (your definition) 3 times this week.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions or ask on the thread!

A day and a half left and I will've survived two weeks with DH in Argentina taking care of my 3 and 5 year old!
:scared1:
On the positive side, the Y has free childcare, so I've been going daily. On the negative, I'm super tired all the time and it's really tempting to snack a lot at night when I'm so tired.
Off to bed!

PSSSSTTT thanks Bob, Love ya, Mean it!

I did 2 miles on the treadmill walk/run in 30 minutes. Not happy with my time at all!!!!! But I burned off the caramel brulee treat plus a little extra. Tonight I will hit either kettle bells or WATP.

Awesome job! That is just great! I find those guys very motivating too!

Well, today is my first day posting in what seems forever, although its only been a day or day and a half. I had a hard time connecting to DisBoards. I was also getting ready to go to DL for my Neverland 5K with my husband & my Tink half!! :) I'm so excited! I was so busy cleaning the house yesterday and grocery shopping and getting everything ready for the babysitter (writing out schedules, kids' chores, etc), that I didn't get to sleep AT ALL last night! My flight left at 6:45 a.m. Central Time, and I am just now settling into my hotel room at 8:50 Pacific Time (10:50 home time). Holy moly! I am so tired and my ankles are very swollen! That happened to me one other time I had to stay up for over 24 hours and travel. Weird?

I got a tiny nap on the plane (my neck always ends up hurting because it is never comfy to sleep on a plane) and I can't sleep long. We landed at 11:00, stood in line literally 45 minutes at Hertz to get our car, and headed straight to Hollywood. My husband and I are doing this trip just he and I, and I love it so far! We parked at the Hollywood & Highland Center. They were shooting a Michael Jackson tribute outside on Hollywood Boulevard. We went to a movie (Red Tails- very good!) at Graumann's Chinese Theatre. It was so beautiful and opulent inside, and the costumes and movie props on display was neat to see. Also, the stars' footprints and handprints outside were fun to look at.

Next we went to the Los Angeles Farmers Market, and had a fabulous dinner. I had a spinach olive salad with a tiny bit of feta and balsamic vinaigrette. It was super healthy and tasted great. I hope I can continue to find food this great that won't totally blow my diet while I'm here.

I'm not sure if my hotel has a scale (kinda doubt it), but I will check in the fitness room in the morning. I really want to do my WI tomorrow. If not, should I use my last weight from home (Wednesday morning?).

Tomorrow morning early we will hit the Race Expo, then I'm not sure what we will be up to. At 10:30 tomorrow night is the Neverland 5K! It will be awesome!!!

Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

Melinda

Best wishes at the 5k! I'd go with the Wednesday weight, but that's me.
I always have trouble not bingeing after a race day run, especially given how encouraged it is. The DH really doesn't help with this as he's always trying to make sure I get enough (read four course Mexican feast) for recovery when really a banana on top of my regular diet is plenty.

Loving my BodyPump class as this week I managed to drag along my college roommate. We had some really nice conversation too.

Killing time until the kids are up so I don't wake them up weighing in on the wii.

Melinda -- Thanks for posting, it's great to get a "feel" for your trip! I encourage you to go to the DIS Meet, organized by our very own Lisah, I know that will be a lot of fun!

And you are going to have a fantastic race! You are trained, you are ready -- start the race with a smile on your face and a huge feeling of pride, because we are all so proud of you! :yay:

Now, go have the :tink: of your life!

Morning Losers-

Don't forget to send your weigh in to dvccruiser76

Make Friday a great day by eating healthy and working off any stress that you may have! I am feeling a lot of tension in my shoulders this morning probably from all of the baking that I did yesterday!

Time to take Ashleigh to school now! It's a rainy day here!

Come on Team Mickey!!!!

Hi everyone! Well today is weigh in day. down another 1/2 pound. Could it be any slower?!?! I've been good with the treadmil though, but this morning my feet felt soooo heavy. I made myself run the first mile then I alternated run/walk every quarter mile until I got to 2 miles. It was torture though! I hope I can lose this coming week I'm already dreading the food portion. Dinner with some girlfriends at a winery (I don't care for wine, but pasta...oh boy!) and then the next night I got free tickets through work for a Iron Chef type event. Which I'm not exactly sure what that means but I know there will be alot of food to sample and we get to judge on something. Ugh. MODERATION that's my word of the week! I think I've finally made up my mind to give up the McDonald's egg mcmuffins. I was down to twice a week roughly but I went today and they raised the price again! Now an egg mcmuffin costs $3.20!! That's insane don't you think? I'm done. I actually have enjoyed sitting with my DH and DD and eating breakfast in the morning with them anyway, it's nice family time (well except for the part where DD dumps her cup of Cheerios on her tray and I have to clean all the crumbs up!) but I still enjoy it! Have a great weekend Team Mickey!:goodvibes

Weighed in and lost another 2lbs!!! Wow. I am trying to lose 1/2lb week. It is probably cutting down soda, I think. That stuff is poison to my system. I am trying to quit it all together as it is really aggravating my reflux to the max.

I do "eat back" my calories when I exercise or am doing major physical activity. I was painting a condo this week and if I did not up my calories I would fall off the ladder, lol.

Love "My Fitness Pal". That is really helping me stay on track.:thumbsup2

Good Luck to all. I am going to revel in my success today.:goodvibes

I wanted to pop in and say hi to all my Mickey friends! I hope everyone is surviving winter!:goodvibes

Well, weighed in this morning and am down 1.4 pounds. My scale measures weight, fat and fluid(not sure how it does that but it seems fairly accurate) and my fat stayed the same and I gained nearly a pound of fluid. So I think I must have lost muscle but not sure how that's possible unless I'm not eating enough calories. I am very hesitant to up my calories so I think I'm going to wait a week and see if it was a fluke. I took 2 rest days this past week due to a sleepless night Sunday/Monday and no energy. I did manage to do an hour of plyometrics, an hour of weight training, 30 minutes of Richard Simmons and 2 days of running, 2 miles one day and 1 mile the other this week. My game plan for next week: Time to attempt to drink more water! I'm not a big drinker of anything and usually only drink with my meals. I'm going to push myself to get my 8 glasses of water a day. Also, I'm bumping up my running 1/2 mile at a time to prepare for the 5K in April. Wishing everyone pixie dust this week!
