Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Welcome Something New Wednesday QOTD: Disney is unveiling a brand new tv channel – Disney Junior. This 24/7 channel will be completely devoted to material for preschoolers. If you could have a Disney Channel devoted completely to your interests, what would the programming include?

I would also love some Disney food porn! Restaurant visits/reviews, cooking shows, and the like. I'd also like some HGTV stuff along the lines of the "yard goes Disney" show that was on last year. Maybe some interior decorating, holiday-themed decorating, etc.

And then, to get me off the couch and out of the kitchen, I think some family exercise shows would be fun - dances/routines I could do with my little girls with characters as the leaders. :)

I overslept by a mile this morning! DH got the girls up and out, and I didn't open my eyes until almost 8:30. Oy. There goes the early morning workout. So I had breakfast and am working until my 11am conference call. Then I'll get my workout in before lunch. DD7 has gymnastics later, which will give me some reading time (one of my favorite hours of the week!), then back home for dinner. We're having a Cooking Light recipe tonight - a sausage and spinach risotto. I can't wait to try it!

:wave2:

Not feeling great this morning. Stomach is cramping and feeling bloated. I have had a cup of hot tea and toast. We ate kind of heavy for dinner so not sure if that is the cause. Usually even when that happens I feel fine by morning. So taking it easy, going to finish the menu plan and make sure we eat light the rest of the week. Have to take DD to the dentist this afternoon.

Morning Mickeys!

I woke up a bunch of times during the night, but didn't sleep too late. I do not feel like I will need a nap either! I am hoping to go to the gym today. I am still taking my morning meds, so I can't eat breakfast for another 15 minutes or so. Job searching is my other agenda item for the day.

QOTD: I love everyone's ideas! My first choice would be Disney movies 24/7. Something on Disney travel would be great too. I was searching for something to watch last night and came across the Disney Channel. Anything has got to be better than the sarcasm and insults I heard on whatever I saw last night was.

QOTD:

Behind the scenes at Disney! It would cover behind the scenes at the parks, the planning of special events, behind the scenes in the movies, the Disney channel shows and even the music....

We just finished up dinner. I turned on www.d-cot.com and we listened to "Spectromagic" while we ate dinner. Now I'm waiting for my food to settle and I'll have a thing of yogurt and a fudge bar for dessert. Yes I know weird combo

Well, I think that sounds lovely! it's hard to go wrong with yogurt and fudge, at least for me :mickeybar:

We decided to visit my grandparents today. It is a not-so-short, but bearable 2 hour drive to visit them. It was a quick visit, but very enjoyable. I got to see 2 of my cousins as well. We like to hang out and chat and do that for hours. My mother has to take a break from us. She says her ears hurt.

That sounds wonderful, what a great family day -- and you were GF, which is the most crucial for you ::yes::

well it's official, i'm struggling and dangling my foot off the wagon....sigh

i'm born, raised, and still an Ohio-ian. here is our best known native treat -- buckeye candy

I'd be struggling with a yummy treat like buckeye candy available, too ;) Seriously, I know it is hard to get momentum going. Sometimes "fake it 'til you make it" is not a bad thing. It's gotten me through some rough patches.

Had a pretty good day today. After a really tough week it was nice. Was sweetly surprised at work to see my friend...Only worked 4 hours then saw(heard) our symphony pay tribute to Disney this afternoon.

Well the symphony sounds lovely :music: I've read all the Jean Auel books, I'm glad you are enjoying them. I admit, I enjoy the earlier ones more than the latest additions...

Ugh. I have felt horrible the last two days. I feel like I am coming down with another sinus infection (this will make number 4 since Thanksgiving.) The kicker is that I have been on an antibiotic for close to two weeks now. I go in for my CAT scan and follow up next week, so I hope that will answer some questions. I may be slightly allergic to the antibiotic, but after doubling my Zyrtec the hives went away and now my legs just itch a little. I will see if that goes away after I finish the course. Once I get the results form the ENT, I will follow up with the integrative doctor and find out what the blood tests showed.

It is tough to wait for test results, and a 7hr drive each way? That is a heck of a trip :car:

I spend a lot of time dangling my foot off the wagon. I don't want to get comfortable there! I feel your pain! I love those candy buckeyes! I had them lots as a kid growing up in Kentucky with relatives in Ohio! YUMMY!!

I am really growing to love this group of losers! I feel a huge motivation just knowing there is this board to come read and post on. I feel like we all can feel each other's pain and share in our triumphs. This is just great!

The key is not to put your foot down...dangling lacks commitment, which means you are still committed to healthy living :thumbsup2 I agree WISH is wonderful, we are lucky to have this forum. Thanks, Pete! ;)

Good Morning!! Just a quick hello before heading out to the gym and work. Have a great op day everyone!

What a nice wish -- an op day for everyone is a great thing! :goodvibes

Just Another Magic Monday pixiedust: QOTD: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off to Lose Weight We Go! Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy – which Dwarf are you feeling like today and why?

I was so Happy on Monday! My Beloved Patriots are going back to the Super Bowl! :cheer2:

Bad WL weekend for me, but I did keep up with my HM training plan and went 4 miles yesterday (furthest I've gone in years). Still have to send in my gain...packed a bag filled with healthy snacks for work today, so I should be ok. Gotta get ready, check you later!

We all have those gain weeks -- the key is to keep plugging along. Over time, as long as you lose more than you gain, you will reach your goal ::yes::

Maria :upsidedow

Hi! I was glad to see that others also plan out their week. I do really well with planning my exercise but not-so-well on planning meals. With 2 kids and a DH and lots of after school and other activities, it's a big challenge for me. I planned to try and work on a weekly menu yesterday but, well...the day just flew by with housework, homework, mending and Sunday dinner prep. I'd like to get on the WW site today and try to work out something but DD has basketball practice from 7 - 8:30PM (site is 30 minutes away) so I might be fooling myself that I'll get it done. If anyone has good dinner planning strategies, please feel free to let me know! (and I'm new so if I've hijacked an earlier discussion, I apologize - I only readthru the last 5 pages!!

Hi Jude! I am not as organized as Pamela, who plans months at a time :worship:, but we do a week at a time, and shop on Friday night when the stores are less crowded. It is not unusual for us to cook on Sunday for meals throughout the week, if we know it is a really busy one. And, we have also been known to concede we aren't going to be able to cook. The key then is to pick up something (or heat up something) you know isn't a nutritional dealbreaker -- Subway, soup, just not an XL Whopper with a monster serving of fries :scared1:

So very definitely Sleepy! I usually commute just on Tuesdays, but I had to commute today for a special meeting. It's gross and cold and slick outside, and I was up too late after football - and up too early so I could drop off DD4 and hit the road this morning. I could easily doze off on this desk...

Ah, one of those days...let's just say I'm happy the deepest, darkest days of winter have passed, and we will only see more sunlight :goodvibes

I am feeling like Dopey. I really made Dopey choices this weekend!

Okay, here's a different perspective on Dopey. People who run all three races at WDW marathon weekend (5K, Half and Full Marathon) are called Dopey -- it could just mean you needed a break, but now you are looking at the long haul. When people do that, they strategically decide where and when they are going to push, they don't go full-out all the time. This is smart, and if you go too all-out on weight loss efforts, you might burn out and regret it. See, you actually were being Smarty! :thumbsup2

Today I am Happy because I will be leaving for DLR on Friday! :tink: And by this time next week I will have a beautiful, shiny new medal in my hands.

In the excitement of my fall I forgot to mention that I had a big whoosh last week and lost 5.5 pounds! I'm shooting for a maintain this week with all the stress and travelling.

:worship: You are so rockin' this Challenge! And I can't believe :tink: is so soon!

I am totally feeling Sleepy today. We had a line of storms come through our area last night predicting possible tornados and since my husband had to unexpectedly work 3rd last night(oh the responsibilities of management) I got to stay up and be the weather watcher. I'm enjoying running and loving my ipod. I need to add some more tunes so it won't become stagnant. I'm trying to come up with more ideas for inspiring running songs, any suggestions?

Tornados are no joke, I don't blame you for being vigilant. My favorite, new music! Ok, I'm pretty partial to a lot of "Glee" stuff (waiting for the MJ tribute, which should definitely produce some new songs to add!), I also like the Olympic Fanfare, St. Elmo's Fire, and anything by Sammy Hagar (or Van Hagar) for inspiration. :music:

QOTD -- i guess i'm feeling more like Bashful today -- anti-social just wanting to be a hermit, i'm even avoiding replying to emails, what is up with this? though I was tempted to piggy-back on the Dopey claim, as i was a bit Dopey too this past week!

Some days you just want to be alone. I have them. Nothing wrong with that :thumbsup2

Great Attitude! I am losing a pound a week and I have to keep telling myself that is the best thing for me. Sure would like it to be at least 2 but slow and steady wins the race.

You are doing it just right! You are going to be so pleased, because it will last, and not just come right back. :)

Here is a link to earlier in the thread when I posted my meal plans: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=43691441&postcount=645 We are just now at the end of that plan and I have 2 meals planned for this week and want to sit down and make a plan for the next month.

I think this is worth taking notice of -- what a great help to have this guide! ::yes::

I would say I am feeling a bit of Happy and a bit of Doc today. I was definitely Grumpy yesterday but feeling much better and Happy today. I have to go and be intelligent and thoughtful like Doc this afternoon because at 2 I meet with DD16's guidance counselor to work out her classes for next year. I swear I am not a helicopter mom! I am pretty sure my mother never had any input into my schedule but DD's school sends a letter and email to every parent asking them to schedule a time to come in. They are very big on parent involvement. Then I am taking DD11 to see my gyno to discuss her cramping problems and see if there are any solutions, short of the pill. Since it is so bad that it is affecting her ability to function for several days out of the month we need to do something.

Poor dd! Sounds like you are an involved and working hard to make sure your dds get what they need -- no helicopter there! :)

Just Another Magic Monday QOTD: Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It’s Off to Lose Weight We Go! Happy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy – which Dwarf are you feeling like today and why?

I am feeling sleepy right now. My body just doesn't want to get moving. We are working on school work right now... once that is done I will do my workout and maybe that will help perk me up.

Exercise always gives me more energy :hyper: Don't be too discouraged, sometimes it takes awhile for the scale to catch up with our actions ;)

QOTD: I'm feeling Sleepy.. Well, not so much sleepy but unmotivated/blah feeling. I tossed and turned most of the night. I don't think I fell asleep til around 5am. Then I woke up really late.

It's not wonder you weren't feeling your best. When you don't get a good night's rest, it's hard. Sounds like you had a good plan for your day, though.

I am definitely Sleepy. I woke up when the 3rd alarm went off at 8:15 AM and by 9:15 I was asleep again. I didn't wake up until 1:15 PM.

I'm glad you are getting some medical advice, we never know what might be going on with our bodies ::yes::

I did shovel for about 10 minutes today. I was exhausted after that. I am truly Sleep today. ;) Love this question Maria! I couldn't believe I needed a 4 hour nap after sleeping about 11 hours. I left a message with my doctor's secretary just in case, but I'm guessing it had more to do with being out all day yesterday, which included 4 hours in the car.

Shoveling is hard work! It stresses you in ways you don't even realize. :flower3:

Maria :upsidedow

I was doing so good checking in daily and posting and school started back up and I feel off the band wagon. In addition to that, I GAINED three pounds this week. Sorry Mickey team for letting you down.

You didn't let anyone down, we all have gains! Please don't ever let that stop you from posting or reporting -- this Challenge is for fun and motivation, not to make you feel bad :grouphug:

Oh, man, it's an awesome problem to have! The last time I pulled a bit more for the Patriots because of the potential for the undefeated season. And the Giants won. I feel like I should pull a bit more for the Patriots because they didn't win the last time, but I honestly can't lose - love both teams!

I agree, you should pull more for the Patriots ;)

Maria- No didn't make chowder for the game. We made homemade Chinese food. Maybe we will do it for the Super Bowl if I can find a good recipe. I did one in the crockpot one time that was great and then couldn't find the recipe again. I just got a new little crock pot cook book that I think had Clam chowder in it.

I'm almost afraid to have chowder -- I jump up and down too much!

Funny to say, bur - Sneezy!! Now if I could just find a way to be allergic to carbs.

As for the food specialties, I'm in upstate NY and boy, we love our wings and beer. I'm partial to crispy wings (no mushy ones for me), as hot as I can stand them. Yum! While not exactly the same, we use a low fat version of the wings for our football parties: Add 1 package of boneless chicken, a jar of Frank's Hot Sauce and a few splashes of super-hot sauce to a crockpot and cook on low for 10 hours. After 10 hours, shred chicken with a fork and mix everything together again. Serve on crackers, melba toast or French bread (ummm, French bread may not be too WW friendly! LOL).

Sneezy scares me, I'm always afraid I'm getting  That recipe sounds delicious! Crispy wings sound really, really good...

I just got off the phone with my doctor and he highly doubts that the meds are making me sleep that much. I mentioned how I don't have any caffeine in my diet and you should have heard the sound he made. I guess I better start having some caffeine in my diet.

Ok, I don't think I've ever heard of a doctor suggesting more caffeine, my dh would be doing a Happy Dance :dance3: Tea is a lovely way to get it in. I don't drink coffee, but I am extremely fond of tea :goodvibes

I was definitely SLEEPY (really, LAZY) today!

Seems like there was lots of "Sleepy" going around. Some days are just made for that :)

Hello Team Mickey!

I was planning to be over here more to keep in touch wth everyone, but I can barely keep up with my own Team Donald thread! So, sorry I haven't been able to be here more and I hope everyone is doing well. Keep up the losses and good luck!

Jill

Great to see you, Jill! It will be awesome when we can catch up with everyone after the merge! :yay:

hey guys, still having a tough time :/ I have managed to stay within my calories, but not go to the gym. I pinched a nerve last week ( I think) and it is causing my terrible neck/lower back part of my head pain :( Usually after a few days of stretching or massage it goes away and it just isn't this time :( It feels like an electric shock going form my neck to the back of my head! Happens like every few seconds! OUCH!

ANY tips about this?

No tips, but I'm sorry that happened. I hope you get some relief and feel better pixiedust:

Evening all.
Let's cut to the chase. I am GRUMPY today. I have been in an awful funk lately. I hate food, I hate exercise, I don't want to deal with the kids, people are bugging me.
I think I need to go back on my Vitamin D and flaxseed oil tomorrow.

I hate being in a rut!!!!!

It is hard, some days you just have to let yourself be Grumpy  Then you can appreciate when you are Happy more!

Congrats to the Biggest Loser!!! Way to go. I hope to get on that list next week. I've recorded EVERY bite I've put in my mouth today (even that piece of Lindt chocolate truffle). Felt good to enjoy that little treat knowing I was accountable for it. Bedtime soon as I get up around 5am for my furbaby and then the Y before work. I'm going to do my best to get here each day. I need accountability :)

Yes, accountability is key -- tracking is a great way to get perspective on what you are eating, how much, and when -- sometimes even why. Great job! :thumbsup2

Eveything is tracked, working on my last glass of water, and ADRs made for our weekend trip. Alan went to Sam's Club earlier today and picked up a few things. We had steaks and potatoes for dinner. We were going to have sloppy joes but the hamburger didn't thaw out in time. So we'll have them tomorrow. I made a batch of eggs in a basket and a batch of chocolate chip muffins.

Yum! What time should I be there? ;) Seriously, thanks for sharing your recipe!

Good Tuesday morning Team Mickey.

Just wanted to come on and say Hello :flower3: to all my Mickey friends.

Maria I loved your dwarf question so I borrowed it for Team Donald today. Thanks for the great question.

Dona -- I am so flattered! I hope the :donald: had a great time with the Dwarfs!

Congrats, Lisa and the rest of the losers! I made the top 10 but will probably be a gainer this week. Just not with it yet! I need to focus today and also plan out a workout schedule that I can do.

Unless you are Lisah :worship:, I think it's hard to keep making the Top 10. Celebrate your success!

Totally Tuesday QOTD: Must be time for our mandatory exercise question…Do you genuinely enjoy exercise, or do you have any tricks to make it more fun (or both!)?

I do like yoga and running. I have to make myself start some days, but I'm always glad I did. Music definitely makes it more fun, along with daily tracking. I like to know how far I went, it helps me feel like I'm moving forward. :goodvibes

i'm starting to like it more. i've found the only way to make running fun is to have a goal. when i run i like to mentally picture myself running a disney race. i like to think about how i'll feel when i cross the finish line. even though i can only go 3 miles right now while i build back my fitness, i think of crossing the WDW marathon finish line and i even get a little choked up! that keeps me going.

i've been enjoying the aerobics classes i go to mon/wed. it's nice to be back and see the ladies that i used to work out with. we joke around during the class. i go with my aunt mary (she lives across the street) and we have fun. kickboxing is always made more fun when you pretend to be punching someone you're not happy with

:rotfl: Nancy, I can just see you imagining you are popping someone who has made you unhappy! I also love imagining I'm at a Disney race. When I don't want to get from mile 7 to 9, I remind myself that is the dud part of the WDW course, too :rolleyes1

Good morning all, I am back on Team Mickey!!!:yay: I have been faithfully using My Fitness Pal as my means of tracking. I lost 2lbs.

I do track everything I eat which is the key for me. I had to scale back breakfast and my fat intake. Anytime I am over my "fat", I eat more. It is pretty crazy.

As far as the QOTD.....

I do like exercise, walking the dogs is something I enjoy very much. However I have to GO SLOW from my previous back injury so it ticks me off that I can't just pick up the latest tape and go for it.

My next purchase is going to be an exercise ball and then I am going to start Pilates. I have to start slow and it can frustrating and scary because I don't want to injure my back again.

Nothing wrong with going slow, it's good you recognize you need to work up to a fitness level. You will be so happy you did! ::yes::

I actually really love to work out. But.... I mostly love to play racket ball or volleyball. I like to run when I have a race to work towards. If I don't, I hate to run. Weird, huh?:confused3

I get it, I am much more serious about my training when I have a race coming up! pirate:

Good morning Team Mickey!!!! Just wanted to say hello and say a big congrats to all your top losers, especially my friend, LISAH!!!! You guys rock!!!

I love your dwarf question too, Maria, and was planning to borrow it next week when I was coaching donald. Better start thinking of some other questions.

Have a fantastic day Mickeys!!!!

Kathy -- You are so funny! Please borrow from me anytime...but I know you have some great ones up your sleeve, too! :yay:

I can't honestly say that I enjoy it completely. I like how I feel afterward, and I love the differences I'm seeing in my physique now that I'm working out almost daily. But I don't know if I'll ever be someone who looks forward to exercise.

I've been doing strength work using Jillian Michaels' Ripped in 30, and that is hard but rewarding. Even DH is noticing the definition that's emerging! ;) That incorporates cardio, but I also do 30-45 minutes on the bike downstairs, and I really try to push myself on that to maintain a good speed on the fat burn cycle. I watch a show on the DVR while I'm doing that, and that really helps pass the time!

I've never been big on group exercise because I feel like I stick out, but I got over it several months ago to go check out a friend's Zumba class. I have really enjoyed that, but I haven't made it to a class since before the holidays! The schedule of the classes is part of the problem, but I'm hoping to get back into that next week. I bought a ten-class pass to make sure I'd go, and now I need to go! I'm not particularly coordinated or graceful, but I really enjoy the high energy and music in Zumba, and I do think the group environment is good for me.

So I don't LOVE it, but I am always glad I make myself do it!

And you know what? Congratulations to all the gainers, too (myself included)! We're still here, we're still reporting in and working our programs, and we're not dropping off because of a gain. We are all awesome.

Yep, just sticking it out is definitely half the battle. Thanks for your thoughtful answer, I can tell you are vested in a healthier lifestyle! :thumbsup2

Curse you Bob Harper!!!!!

I was all fine a dandy, curled up in my down comforter, watching Biggest Loser and eating my Chocolate Caramel Brulee treat from Starbucks. You had to go and ruin it by guilting me into running!! No gym, no excuse, blah blah blah Kiss my butt Bob!!!!

PSSSSTTT thanks Bob, Love ya, Mean it!

I did 2 miles on the treadmill walk/run in 30 minutes. Not happy with my time at all!!!!! But I burned off the caramel brulee treat plus a little extra. Tonight I will hit either kettle bells or WATP.

BMC423: We're going to be there May 1st - 8th. Originally we were staying at BLT in a 1 bedroom. I canceled that reservation (to save DVC points) and booked a room at Coronado Springs.

QOTD: Exercise
- I have a love hate relationship with exercise. Some days I love it while other days I dread it.

QOTD: 24/7 Disney channel: It would be cool to see all the old classic Disney movies. Also something about behind the scenes about the parks, cruise ships, taking care of the resorts, etc.

A blog I wrote early Tuesday morning.
TREADMILL, PANDORA, AND MEMORIES

I hadn't planned on walking 3 miles on my treadmill tonight. I figured a mile tops would do be good considering all the walking I'll be doing this weekend.

However, tonight as I turned on my Pandora, started up the treadmill, and started walking I zoned out. I started thinking of Josh and Maddie and the memories of my marriage and my wonderful daughter. NICU visits, bringing her home, her first Christmas at home, my wedding, Josh deploying to the Middle East, homecoming, all of it within a 70 minute time frame.

I was so engrossed in going down memory lane in my head I wasn't even paying attention when I hit the 1 mile mark. So, I decided to keep going. I had walked long distance on my treadmill before so it didn't bother me. Tonight, wasn't about the workout or the calories burned. Tonight was about focusing on the good times I had in my short marriage and the time I had with my precious angel.

It seemed like my Pandora sensed the mood I was in. Normally, I listen to upbeat music while I'm working out. Tonight, every song that came on my Blackberry touched me and the memories and tears just kept flowing. With every song a different feeling or memory overwhelmed me. Some brought a smile to my face while many of them brought tears to my eyes.

I don't need to spend a ton of money on going to see a shrink who has no idea what its like to be a widow and lose a child all in one wack. My treadmill and Pandora are readily available to me at any point that I want to get away from the world and visit my memories.

Best therapy in the world...

This week has been hard eating wise. I've been good on exercise. Its helping deal with the emotional rollercaoster. The eating however has been bad. I've always been an emotional eater and for the most part I have it under control now. Well, except for this time of year. I made muffins on Monday night for breakfast for the week. Yeah, I ate 3 of them last night one after another. I tracked every bite but just had a "I don't give a **** " mood. Hoping I can keep it all under control at Disney the next few days.

Well, I'll be back later. Its gorgeous outside with the breeze. Going to relax a bit before I finish up things I need to do around here. I need to get packed for our trip among other things.

I do my Tuesday workout in the evening while watching BL, and I pretend Bob and Dolvett  are talking directly to me when they're hollering at the contestants. Definitely gets me going faster on the bike, even though I pretty much have to crawl upstairs afterward! :)

Evening all,

Been a busy but relaxing day! Got my oil changed, went to the dentist, picked up Izzie and then headed to have lunch at Red Robin. After that we went to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D (just us and one other man in the theater). We then ran into Michael's to pick up supplies for a project for Ashleigh and then stopped at the liquor store and then I ran into the grocery store to get supplies for our Winterfest at Izzie's school on Friday night. I'm making a cake, cookies and brownies.

Watching Criminal Minds now that the kids are in bed.

Brian has to leave for work early in the morning so that means that I will need to be up so I will do my best to get in a workout before getting the kids up. Gotta work tomorrow and then I have a meeting at school tomorrow night for Ashleigh. Going to be a busy afternoon with trying to get everything done.

Enough babbling!

Hugs to everyone who needs it!

Disneywedding2010- Music is such a healing medicine. I think that's why I like being a massage therapist. I can listen to relaxing music and escape for awhile and focus on someone else! HUGS!

Had a pretty good day. Been looking for recipes most of the day. Wanted to post these links for CC and anyone else looking for Gluten Free. Not sure if you already know about them but I am going to try some of these, especially for the low carb/gf buns on this one: http://yourlighterside.com/

This one has a bunch of GF and veggie recipes: http://thejoyofcleaneating.com/

Oh THANK YOU Fairy Godmother! pixiedust: My first wish is that I have a great race on Sunday and cross that finish line feeling strong and happy! :tinker: (I feel confident I can do this anyway but a little extra help never hurts. ;)) My second wish for my family is that our office building sells so we can move on to the next phase of our life -- getting ready for retirement. :cool2: And my third choice is that the Peoplemover comes back to Tomorrowland at Disneyland -- they did have a few characters in some areas back in the old days.

Whew! This is the first time I've been easily able to get on the Disboards in the past few days! :goodvibes

Greetings to all of you! :wave2: I will get back on track when I return from Disneyland on Monday.

I will have my laptop so may be popping in, especially in the hours before the race and as I rest up after the WISH meet. :tink:

Sending a maintain a day early. Have a great week-end! I will be thinking of you all and posting pictures when I can. :goodvibes

oooo you are goooood maria! i'll have to think on this one :) can i wish for a Giants win? ;)

:goodvibes

nope nope nope. re-do on wish #1! you don't need to wish for a great race because you're going to have a great race already! re-do!!!

have a safe and wonderful trip lisa! we are all rooting for you!:cheer2:

Had a pretty good day. Been looking for recipes most of the day. Wanted to post these links for CC and anyone else looking for Gluten Free. Not sure if you already know about them but I am going to try some of these, especially for the low carb/gf buns on this one: http://yourlighterside.com/

This one has a bunch of GF and veggie recipes: http://thejoyofcleaneating.com/

just spent a while checking out that clean living website. last year for Lent i gave up processed foods. i did very good for about 2 weeks. and then i found out i was pregnant and decided that god owed me some fried food since it was such a surprise :lmao: i think i may do it again this upcoming lent season.

********************

good morning losers! after two gorgeous days it looks like the next two will be pretty gross. i didn't get to my step aerobics class last night because DH had a late meeting downtown. i'd usually just say, "meh, oh well guess it's a rest day" but instead when my mother's helper came by after school i put on my sneakers and ran to CVS to pick up my prescription. it wound up being 26 min of running which isn't a ton but it was something :woohoo:

Truth Is...It's Thursday! ;) QOTD: Bippidy Boppidy Boo! :wizard: Your Fairy Godmother is feeling a little competitive with the TinkerBelle :tink: Half marathon approaching, and has decided to grant you an unprecedented THREE WISHES! Caveat: None of these wishes can change the past, they can only affect the future. The first wish is for you and you alone, the second is for your family, and the third is for your favorite Disney character to be featured in an attraction of your choice and design, at the Park of your choice! She’s warming up that magic wand pixiedust:, what are your wishes?

Maria :upsidedow

For my wish, I would wish that I was finally successful at losing this weight at that it would not be at a snails pace...LOL :rotfl:

For my family wish, I would wish that my husband's new job would take off and we woudl be able to go from living paycheck to paycheck and be living comfortably...not worrying how bills will be paid each month.

For the ride/attraction... I would love a "Monsters Inc" ride using the door scene or "Emperor's New Groove" where they ride the little car down into Yzma's Lab. Lol...not necessarily my favorite movies or characters but I've seen them recently due to shutting off our cable. I just always thought those two scenes would make great rides. Though I would love anything "Mary Poppins"...like a ride using the scene with the chimney sweeps or something.

Oooh, let's see. Wish #1 for me and me alone - I wish for 8-9 hours of sleep a night. Magically. No matter when I end up getting to bed or when I have to get up in the morning. Just add the necessary hours in there. :lmao:

Wish #2 for my family - I wish for us to be able to get financially fit and hence sell our current house and move neighborhoods within a couple of years. This is a big year for us with regard to achieving that goal, and the wish could hopefully keep away those unexpected costs (car repairs, etc.) that interfere!

Wish #3 for a character/attraction at Disney...I'm looking ahead here and can't speak to the storyline in its entirety, but I know I'm going to fall in love with Brave, the new Pixar movie coming out this year, and I'd love to see a girl-centered adventure ride come out of that one. My DDs would love it!

Overslept again this morning and finally realized it's because I'm just not feeling well. Duh. It's too easy to overlook that when I'm this busy and trying to do so much. So I took the morning off and slept, and I'm skipping the workout today. DH is coming home for an afternoon of rest, so I think we're just battling a mild thing here. We have a thing tonight at the girls' school, and then I have my chorale rehearsal, so hopefully this will get us going!

XO
Liz

I'm hitting the reset button today!
I finally got a decent nights sleep, thanks to my Transitions CD (glad I kept that from when the kids were babies).

Nothing wrong with that, I've been known to hit it more than once a day ;)

Good Morning Team Mickey. I too like to exercise (not always the case) but after making some lifestyle changes, i've gotten to where I do enjoy working out. Granted I don't look forward to getting out of my warm bed, but I also am one that likes how I feel after I've worked out.

It is a great feeling, knowing you have done something so good for yourself! :goodvibes

QOTD: Nope! Exercise is just not fun for me and I don't know how to make it fun. I wish I were one of those types of people that loved to go to the gym to get all their frustrations out - but the gym frustrates me!

I also can't do the gym -- I'm an "on your own" kind of gal. When you can't make it fun, you have to make it about the rewards. What little thing can you give yourself (or cumulatively give yourself), for making the exercise effort? Some weeks for me, it's just time to myself :surfweb:

I'm going to be totally honest. I hate it. I hate intentional exercise, always have and can't see that ever changing. I never liked PE-- don't like playing games like softball and volleyball. Don't like running or even walking just for the purpose of exercise and I hate to sweat. Don't care if I am doing it while watching TV, reading a book or listening to music or have half naked buff guys around me, doesn't make me like it anymore. I have tried all sorts of things-- aerobics classes, swimming laps, ice skating, treadmill, ski machine, bike, videos, water aerobics, and other different classes and things both with friends and on my own and I just hate it. And truth be told while I am doing WATP now it is to further my weight loss goals only and I know when I reach my goal I will stop. I know I shouldn't but I really hate it.

Well, at least you know where you stand :confused3 Hopefully knowing you are moving toward your goal is enough to keep you going! :cool1:

I was planning to pop in more, but am having a hard time just keeping up with the Donalds! It looks like you are doing a fantastic job, keep it up! Congrats to all the losers and maintainers and especially LisaH! You are rocking this challenge! I'm leaving in 3 days for DL and the Tink half, but will try to pop in and say hi again before I go. Its great to see so many new and returning members and I can't wait for the thread merge. Have a great OP day!

Lisa! -- You are going to have an amazing race! I can't wait to see you with your medal :yay:

Yesterday I was probably Sleepy. Today I am Grumpy, but not as grumpy as I was before I started catching up on Dis. Made it to the Y this morning for my stretching class and then got my walk in. Now I can just be lazy the rest of the day!

I exercise and have for decades so I guess I like it. I love walking and am astonished that I'm still running (9 months now). I may be pokey but I am there huffing and puffing.

Nothing wrong with going at your own speed, it's the going that's important ;) I'm glad you are feeling better. It is hard -- they want to be treated like adults, but not necessarily act that way -- yeah, mine's only 13, and it's a long row to hoe! :lmao:

Hello!
I am new to Team Mickey! I have been slow in getting started because of these darn steroids I have been on! I had a never ending sinus infection for the last two months. I am hoping I am finally well, and these steroids are a thing of the past!

:welcome: So glad you could join us!

Dwarf quotd: (lol)
Sleepy-- Slept till 11. It's just dark, cold and wet here. Really wanting to just lay in bed and read today.

I think I really like walking best, but I know I burn a lot more calories on the elliptical. I don't actually enjoy lifting weights but I love being strong. Music definitely makes or breaks every exercise session. Most of the time on the elliptical I just close my eyes and go all out and don't really care about how I look...

I can't worry about how I look, either. I'd never leave my house if I did :rotfl2: Being strong is definitely a fantastic reason to lift weights. Just think how you are saving your bones ::yes::

Yesterday I was happy, I was going back to the gym (for the 1st time in 2 wks) and I was starting a new week with a plan...

I don't enjoy exercise, not like I used to... but I do enjoy how I feel after. This is what works for me... remember what it was like when I was fit. In HS I played volleyball, and I was in the Marching Band, as a flag twirler. Both of those things required plenty of stamina, which I got from working out. Also both of those things gave me great workouts... in college I stopped doing any extra workouts, sports and marching so yeah my physical activity level dropped a lot.

I'm an adult onset athlete, but I can imagine it would be a little disconcerting not to be able to do what you once did  I highly recommend a Disney race as a motivator. Even better -- they're addicting! :rolleyes1 So you keep coming back and working out :thumbsup2

Hey Mickeys...

Sorry if this turns out to be long...but I just need to get some stuff off my chest! This week was supposed to be a great week... and its not ruined yet but today has been an exhausting day!

Yesterday was great, I was up at 4:50... got dressed, packed my gym bag, ate my breakfast and even had time to say a quick hello to you guys before heading out. At the gym I met up with my coworker (also my gym buddy). I did 30 mins on the elliptical w.o stopping. Then we did crunches, planking, and some other types of exercises (IDK their names). We also did sit ups, this was an eye-opener for me. Before when I was healthy I loved doing sit ups and would race with my dad or my brother to see who could do more, well yesterday I couldn't even do 5 w.o struggling. I was so bummed out, my friend was great about it but ugh. Anyway the rest of the day was great and op.

I'm so glad you got that great workout in! Now you have a starting point, and there's nowhere to go but up! :flower3:

I exercised-outside! I attempted C25K outside! I made it through 4 runs before my iPod decided to not to work on me again.

Awesome! My dh has the same issue with his shuffle. He never knows how long it will last. He's had that problem with the last two -- so much so we bought the newer one because the older one was unreliable :confused3 Anyway, great job getting out there!

I am definitely a "social exercise" - I like classes better than solo exercise. Maybe that's why training for a half is so hard for me. I prefer running with a group, or boot camp class or a spin class with lots of people...

Classes can be so motivating. It's great that you know what you enjoy! :cutie:

I do get my frustrations out at the gym, but, I do so much better when I am one of the only people there. Monday nights after work were awful. It was so hot in there (clean though) and I felt like everyone was hovering over me. Now, I try to go at less popular times. Being unemployed gives me more options for times, but Thursday and Friday nights and all weekend are good times too.

This is one reason I'm not fond of the gym -- the temperature. I think it's really hard to regulate, and I'm either too hot or too cold. I'm glad you have found some good times to go

Maria :upsidedow

Watching BL! Hope to squeeze in some type of workout tomorrow. Postponing tubing as it was so warm today that the tracks at the tubing park are really slow. We want it to be fast and fun. Instead we are going to go see Beauty and the Beast in 3D! Kids have a 1/2 day so we will be going to a 2:15 show!

Watching BL always motivates me to want to workout! I hope you had a great 1/2 day with your girls :lovestruc

QOTD -- i used to almost like exercising but not anymore, it's a funk i'm in when i don't feel good and it's really hard cycle to break.

You are in "fake it 'til you make it mode" -- it is hard to get moving and momentum going. Just tell yourself that every little step you take brings you closer to making it a habit :thumbsup2

I just made the five hour drive to Cape Girardeau after teaching all day so I am beat. I ate on the road, not the best meal ever, but will be better tomorrow. The bad part was the school district forgot to make the reservation for this session! (I'm going to a training on teaching kids who are deafblind. There are three separate sessions and I guess they just forgot.) I hope it gets straightened out tomorrow. Oh well. It will work out.

Oh my! That is jsut wrong they forgot to register you! ::yes:: And that is a heck of a long drive to end up at Cape ;) I hope everything worked out!

Ice, ice, baby! That's what I've got on my knee right now. I did something to it I think Sunday. It hurt a wee bit yesterday, and of course I ran. It felt fine. Not so much today! Bummer. It's hot and aches and I'm mad because I was looking forward to another run tomorrow morning before I sub at noon. Now I'll just sit on the couch popping anti-inflammatories and icing the stupid thing. grrrr Climbing up stairs then bleachers for DS2's basketball game then down them and back up some different bleachers for DS1's game was killer. I felt like an old, old lady! But DS1 had a personal best of 22 points!!!

Great job for DS! Sometimes ice is the only way to go...I hope your knee is better quickly

Good morning everyone! I've been out of the thread loop, my laptop at work was down and home has been a little busy. Hope everyone is doing great and I did see the losers list for the week so CONGRATS to all! I ran my fastest 5k yesterday after work, 38:34. It was one of those "wow this is pretty painless" runs, not the kind of run I feel like I'm wearing lead shoes! Have a great day!

Congrats on the PR, always awesome! :yay:

Welcome Something New Wednesday QOTD: Disney is unveiling a brand new tv channel – Disney Junior. This 24/7 channel will be completely devoted to material for preschoolers. If you could have a Disney Channel devoted completely to your interests, what would the programming include?

My Disney Channel would have diet, exercise, travel, coverage of all the special festivals and events at Parks, restaurant tours and reviews where they show the food and eat it (Samantha Brown-style), and there would be a show called "Goin' Disney in Your Neighborhood" which would highlight interesting ties or experiences all around the US and in other countries. There would be a show where imagineers are interviewed and present the concepts they had for rides, shows and infrastructure. Of course there would be tours focusing on key themes in the Parks, like "Chocolate of Epcot", or "Hidden Mickeys Hunt". Another fun show would be devoted to keeping the magic alive between visits, with a variety of ideas, activities, and practical ways to get kids (and adults!) to embrace optimism, change, and exhibit a positive attitude -- kind of like an hour with the Disney Institute :thumbsup2

QOTD: I wish they would bring back the old Disney of about 14 years ago when they should Wonderful World of Disney.

That would be fun! :happytv:

Good morning all! I have been painting a condo and today I am SORE, ugh. I did not eat "healthy" but then again I need the calories to do the physical work.

QOTD?

My channel would be Disney movies, all the time, old and new.

Painting definitely counts as exercise, and Disney movies anytime (particularly some classics!) would be wonderful popcorn::

another great question maria! hmm, is it bad to say i'd like a show about food?? lol! what about a cooking show where the chef shows us how to make all the great food at disney?? sure, i have the cookbook but sometimes the food porn from the food channel is just as good as eating the food (almost)

besides that, disney movies, disney travel shows (like samantha brown, minus the host..can't stand her)...oh and bring back ooh and aah those cute little monkeys!

The cooking show sounds great! I would love to have even more info when making my ADRS ;)

Family exercise is an awesome idea! And I loved "My Yard Goes Disney"! :flower:

Not feeling great this morning. Stomach is cramping and feeling bloated. I have had a cup of hot tea and toast. We ate kind of heavy for dinner so not sure if that is the cause. Usually even when that happens I feel fine by morning. So taking it easy, going to finish the menu plan and make sure we eat light the rest of the week. Have to take DD to the dentist this afternoon.

Hope you're feeling better now

QOTD: I love everyone's ideas! My first choice would be Disney movies 24/7. Something on Disney travel would be great too. I was searching for something to watch last night and came across the Disney Channel. Anything has got to be better than the sarcasm and insults I heard on whatever I saw last night was.

Wizards was the last show of my ds's generation -- so I don't know what they're running now, but I'm guessing one of the reasons for the dedicated preschool channel is the regular channel is just too snarky, and who wants to hear their 3-yr. old talking back like that? :confused3

QOTD:

Behind the scenes at Disney! It would cover behind the scenes at the parks, the planning of special events, behind the scenes in the movies, the Disney channel shows and even the music....

I'd love a glimpse behind the curtain, what a great idea!
