Just trying to catch up kind of quickly....
]QOTD #1 Monday, January 16: Today, many people are off of work and school to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. He left such an impact on the US and the world. Did you help someone today? Make someone's life a little better, if only for a few minutes?
Well--long story short daughter made another suicide attempt early Mon. morning. We're in Oregon and she's in Albuquerque N.M. so I had to make some tough decisions which involved a welfare check, and tracing her calls to eventually get a hold of her through a friend. Spent the whole day not knowing if she was alive or not...she is finally signing her divorce papers though so I think she's finally bottomed out. Spent several hours talking to her, trying to help. I dunno-- she's 23 and this frankly, is getting old. I think she needs meds. Thanks to Obama she's on my insurance...I know they help me.
Tell of a victory in this challenge when YOU got to use some self control, too!
Just like inkedupmomma passing up the roller rink nachos, did you pass anything up and score a little mental victory recently??
I've been waiting until later to drink anything--the later I wait the less I drink.
I tried my leftover frittata with some Spaghetti Sauce this morning and while it certainly made it better it was still

. I think the combo of overcooked and the fact that I really don't like eggs makes this unsaveable. I am going to just toss the other 2 servings. Breakfast is really becoming difficult for this WOE. Need to see what I can figure out. I may just stick with my Go Lean oatmeal every day and have to cut carbs later in the day.
I made a great frittata like egg thing for breakfast yesterday, just scrambled eggs really with chopped up brusell sprouts, mushrooms, cheese and sun dried tomatoes. It was pretty good. I used Johnny's seasoning salt which is really good in eggs. I've been eating the Costco whole wheat bagels--which are the only ones there without high fructose corn syrup-- with hummus. I've been mixing crushed garlic (y'know--the wet kind--) into the hummus to make it less calorie dense-- plus it's really good.
Up a pound today but was down yesterday so I think it's just water retention from the nut mix stuff I ate pretty late last night. I worked out on the elliptical for an hour yesterday, plus did all my back exercises and weight lifting. Will kill myself today also and maybe spend a little time in the sauna. Will watch salt intake tonight for weigh in tomorrow. It seems I don't want sweet stuff any more-- just want bar foody kind of stuff to snack on at night. Nuts, chips (I try to have healthy options around like pea chips, and various baked varieties of stuff...really addicted to garlic triscuits right now and this smoked gouda cheese that I try to only have very sparingly..)
I've got kiwi and satsuma oranges though so maybe I'll make a fruit salad thingy tonight and throw in some bananas and apples too.
Trying to do some research on a movie reward and have narrowed it down to Rango and Tree of Life. I've kind of been enjoying the ease of the redbox!
QOTD Sunday, January 15: On this day in 1905, composer and songwriter Allie Wrubel is born in Middletown, Connecticut. He collaborated with lyricist Ray Gilbert on the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" for the film Song of the South which won the Oscar for Best Song in 1947. So what song gets YOU going and pushes you to keep moving???
