Team Hakuna Matata - MAY Thread!

Yep..the pain went away overnight so I didn't go to the doctor. They had pushed up my post-op check up from next week to this and squeezed me in as it was so I called them and told them to put it back to next week. I feel fine and his expert receptionist (no really she probably could do the surgeries herself) told me that what I was feeling is normal. I didn't run yesterday as I planned because my DM told me I should wait until I'm 100% sure the pain is gone.

Anyhow...hope all of you are enjoying the Spring weather. Best time of year to run (next to fall, that is). Speaking of weather, just curious to know if anyone on our team is from Ohio. I would really love a running buddy to meet up with at local races!!

Dave - Have you tried the Nike pro core shirts? I don't have one myself, but I was told they are excellent.

RoyalCinderella -
running towards my happily ever after with my new fiance and my mom cheering me on next March in Disney's Princess Half Marathon!
I just picked up on the "new fiance" part!! Congrats!!! BTW...do you really enjoy spinning class? I have watched them when I've been at the rec before and have been thinking of trying it.

Good Morning Team:flower3:

Since I still have the underarm chub rub I just went to the pool and did some running in the pool. The darn chub rub needs to go away I'm had all the fun with it I can stand. I'm taking that shirt out of the gym bag. I really like the feel of that tech material but it doen't like me back.

Walking Panda:hippie:

I feel your pain, no matter what the temp I have to have sleeves on my shirt to avoid that. I also wear longer shorts or capri's to avoid the leg thing. What a pain.

Down a pound this morning for a total of 13! Finally, I guess those 9 miles over the weekend helped. Have a good day, suppose to rain here but Sunday should be a beauty!

At MCO getting ready to head home,

Schleped bags to OKW hospitality House to check them in, no joy, had to check at aqirport, so schleped them back and rushed to the airport. Do I get credit for hauling those bags around?

The worst thing about vacations are that they end, but then there are the future trips to plan and prepare for.

Have a great day and the weekend is comming soon.

Good morning Guys and all our princesses.

Eva, I have a ton of workout stuff, Erica and I could outfit a high school track team. Some fabrics will occassionally do that to me. I would like to say that since I have been doing a lot of upper body work with the calistetics and light weights that the chub rub was from chest and biceps getting larger but I think it was the fabric and a few days of hard walking.

I should use the body glide as I do occassionally get rubbed there. As a racewalker when I'm going fast I need to keep my arms close to my sides on the arm swing. Runners are better off keeping arms close also, but with racewalking to keep your stride fluid it's necessary.

Cinderella, spin class is wonderfull. The goal of the teams is for everyone to be more fit by the end of the year. If that happens we win. We all have goals we want to accomplish and that's our finisher's medal, achieving those goals.

Denise I'm glad your weight is going in the right direction, I'm kinda stagnated at 165 to 166 but I'm ok with that. As long as I'm working out hard and staying right there I figure I have the pudge cells on the run.

Cindy, your race pace was frog flippin awesome. You will be really fast by the end of the year. Have you done any speed intervals at a track or any fartlack training?

Connie, how's it going Captain?

Margie have you thought about just putting a sign in your yard that says "Margie's Day Care". The things we do for love right.

Scott, buddy, did you get that pretty princess of yours home safe? I know you guys had fun, we are jealous but we'll make up for it in Oct. Do you see over on Roberts site that Liz will be there at the camp ground with their RV and we are all invited to a cook out?

Kim, how is Mike's foot? Is he doing the stretching and icing? Beer and watching a hockey game is not rehab so make him do it.

Wilber and Bunnyfoo:flower3:

Everyone have a super day.

Chaffed Panda:hippie:

Yep Dave did see the cook out offering, sounds good to us.

Should be home today in about 6 hours, then we can relax, LOL

RoyalCinderella - I just picked up on the "new fiance" part!! Congrats!!! BTW...do you really enjoy spinning class? I have watched them when I've been at the rec before and have been thinking of trying it.

Eva - Thank you! My fiance proposed during MVMCParty at Liberty Tree Tavern December 14. . .so even though we've been together 9 years, it still feels different now that we're planning the next step in our lives. Mushy mushy, I know! Yes, I really enjoy spin class a LOT! It depends mostly on your instructor - if you have one that is more into the workout for herself (have run across a few of those), then he/she will be more 'internal' about the pacing, resistance, etc. and won't tell the class how many resistance steps up a song has coming up or how many sprints to expect this song, etc. If you have an instructor that is all about the class and helping the class achieve fitness like he/she has already attained - like my favorite instructor - she's all about personal encouragement during the ride , getting to know the student's names, telling us what to expect during a particular song, and customizing the experience for the different levels of ability in a class. We have about 30 people in our class, some people come and have never done spin before, some are just starting out and go slowly the whole time, some people are experienced road racers training for real bike races, and most of us are in between, just going for XT and determining our own pace the best we can. We can turn the fans on (or not) the lights out and the blacklights on (or not) just all depending on how everyone feels that day. Of course, that's at my gym in particular, no guarantees, but I feel great after spin and was even able to do some outside yard work yesterday evening after class! It will whip you into shape in no time, especially if you use a HR monitor and don't go faster than you're supposed to! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Happy Friday, team!!!

Eva and Royal Cinderella - WELCOME!!! :grouphug: Glad to have you on the team!

Congrats to those of you who did the Minnie last weekend! It sounds like it was great!

Margie - gosh, those kids can just about run us grandmas ragged, can't they? But they're the best! Grandkids are waaay better than kids! :rotfl:

Dave, good to hear you're still on track!

Erica - how're the feet?

Connie - did you get over that migraine? :wizard: I hope it magically disappears!

I've had a very busy week and the weekend is going to be busy, too. I am looking forward to vacation the first week of June. DH and I are going to Pagosa Springs, CO. It should be a quiet and relaxing vacation. Then the next weekend Connie will be here and we'll be going up to Denver for a 10k!

Keep on keepin' on!

Scott, I thought I was the senile one around here. Isn't it great, when we were younger we would be a dumb bunny but now we can clain senility. Life is good.

Today and tomorrow are rest days, maybe I can recover from the darn chub rub under my arms. I have to not wear that tech shirt anymore.

Yes happy mamma's day and a weekend of pampering for all our moms.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Sorry to be MIA guys. I have had a migraine for the last couple of days. I hadn't had one in long time, so I missed the signs that it was coming on and couldn't head it off. So, for that reason....I have nothing much to report.

Glad you crashed Scott. That means you needed it!

Good luck on the upcoming nuptials RC .

 Everyone dont' forget, we have new weeks. :dance3: The first May week ended on the 8th! Let's get those times and miles in!!! :woohoo:

Good Morning team!

Went out this morning for 4 miles in less than an hour including warm up and cool down. Miranda and I did the street route. She's a pastry chef so she has a few long days ahead of her at the restaurant for mother's day. She took me out to lunch yesterday and brought me a plant and a nice card. My son's birthday is tomorrow but he's filming a movie here in town and working 7 days a week in production so we'll celebrate his day some time when he comes up for air. He's finally using his degree in special effects so he's very happy these days even if it's only for a few weeks/month. I'm glad for him.

Today I get to clear out the living room of stuff and start removing wallpaper and prepping for paint - Scott - you know what I mean.... home repairs UGG..

New furniture due to arrive in 4 weeks so we have to get busy, I'm sure my miles will suffer too but will do what I can to help the team.

Off to the shower. Take care.

denise

Connie:hug: Hope your headache stays away. I don't get, only give headaches but there have been times my princess has suffered.

Panda news clip: I have been suffering for a few days with a vicious case of chub rub in my armpits from a tech shirt I wore to do a fast walk. I have been using neosporn which wasn't helping a darn bit, I tried some Benadryl cream for skin irritations, posion ivy ect... it burned Ouch!! I bought some diaper rach cream at the market today and that is working very well. First time in days I haven't had iching and burning there.

Kathy, the vacation sounds fun.

Cinderella and Eva, glad you guys joined us.

Margie good luck with the race this weekend.

Everyone have an awesome saturday.

Walking Panda:hippie:

I do wish I had time to catch up with everyone here--to properly greet new members, celebrate your accomplishments and fun events, etc. I hope your migraines come infrequently. Dave, I hope you've discovered the permanent answer to the rubbing--ouch!

Anyway, know that I wish you all the best for this weekend and beyond. Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! :goodvibes

I know Erica's on the mend, but since I was thinking of her this week:

DONATION TO ERICA, MILES: 3.87 miles
DONATION TO ERICA, TIME: 1:08 or (1.13 in decimal format)

Denise, wall paper removal yeck!!!

Will hang bifolds later today, and maybe some wireing on the south bedroom./

Rain , snow and wind today outside, suposed to be better tomorow.

Have fun kids, enjoy.

Happy Mother's Day to all our Special Moms!

Did a 5k this morning. The time was a personal best for and actual race, but I knew I could have push more and just didn't (?) It was not all that accurate as it was a 1-2-3 start, runners in front, and your chip clicked off at the finish. And Duh...I did not click stop on my Garmin when I crossed the finish line either! :sad1:

My little Hagen did a 25 yard Baby Bolt...it was precious he was laughing and clapping his hands all the way. Had his own Bib No. and received a 'cheap' medal when he crossed the finish. His very first race at 16 months :cloud9:

You got it Kathy, grand-babies just squeeze your heart.

Panda, you sure are having a terrible time with that chub Rub...did you get rid of that shirt! :scared:

:headache: Sorry you had to suffer through a migraine, Connie!

Good morning TEAM!!!

Margie Grandkids are wonderful! I got a call from them wishing me a happy mother's day yesteeday. They are such a joy. I think that one day I will have a granddaughter telling me where we will be doing OUR next race. I can hardly wait! -- Congratulations on the PR! That is so awesome. :woohoo:

Thanks to all for the Mother's Day Wishes! I hope that everyone who has a mother had a wonderful day. Around here, it is mostly just another day!

I am off to make some miles. I hope it feels good to be out in the sunshine again. I feel so hermit-like!

Good Morning Team!

Just caught up on this thread - it takes alot of time to read a weeks worth of posts! As Scott said, we had a great time at WDW and the Minnie. I don't get to read on vacation, no time - Scott does not sleep, that is why he has time to read and post:lmao:

Connie - I agree, the garmin can be a pain in the parks, remembering to turn it off and on for rides and inside buildings - and it seems that sometimes it will not pick up distances outside - maybe all the trees and tall buildings - mine is used to wide open outside and no trees:rotfl2:

Erica - good to hear that you might get to start walking and be in better shoes soon!

Dave - take care of the chub rub.

Welcome to our new team members.

It was great to meet WISHers at the Minnie!

Time to get out for walk with the dogs, it will be slow, I need to get my high altitude conditioning back - it gets lost so quickly!

Have a great day!
