I'm wondering, those of you with the Wii Fit, if it's worth the $. What does it do? Exercise for me? ;) Seriously, though, does it come with stuff or is it just a board and I have to buy other stuff? :confused3

Should I just save my $ and go walking?

I was debating the same thing... then I found this review.. so right now I am back to no

At the core of the Wii Fit experience is the new balance board, an elegant-looking yet surprisingly sturdy peripheral which features several internal scales that can detect changes in weight and pressure as you're standing on it. The board--which is also quite hefty at roughly 8.8 lbs (4kgs)--interacts wirelessly with the Wii, and takes four AA batteries (which are included). The board has four rubber feet to help prevent it from slipping on smooth surfaces (and even comes with four extra feet that can be used to raise your balance board higher should you have thick carpet on your floors). Like the Wii Remote before it, the balance board is intuitive to use once you get into an exercise or game in Wii Fit, with its extreme sensitivity allowing it to pick up even the most minute shifts in weight. Its sensitivity only goes so far, however, with the board able to take only 330lbs (150kg) maximum weight, locking out the particularly robust from joining in on the Wii Fit fad.
Not that plus sizes need worry that they're missing out on a prime weight-loss opportunity. Despite its moniker, Wii Fit isn't a total fitness solution, with its included exercises focusing more on improving muscle tone and balance than on cardio and weight loss. What it does offer is a better way to track your weight, body mass index (BMI), and time spent exercising both within the game itself and from any other external activities, giving users a clearer picture of how their health is progressing over time. It's no more going to make you super-fit than Wii Sports is going to make you a tennis pro, but it can provide a strong anchor for a more expansive fitness regime should you have the motivation.
As a title focused on health, Wii Fit makes some fairly significant judgments about its users' fitness. This happens right from when your Mii is first registered with the game; after inputting a date of birth and height, you're asked to step on the balance board for a weigh-in (all guided onscreen by a cartoon version of the board). From the height and weight data, a user's BMI is calculated, with the user tagged as underweight, ideal, or overweight depending on the BMI score. A simple balance test then occurs (usually involving having to shift your balance to certain areas within a time limit) before your Wii Fit Age is displayed in large numbers on the screen. Only one Wii Fit Age result can be recorded daily, although you can practice the variety of balance tests as many times as you want.

Do you have to buy games to go with it, or does it have some that come with it?

Nope, it comes with a bunch of games. They are in categories...balance, yoga, strength and aerobic exercises. They start at beginner level and as your time increases, new games open or new levels of difficulty open.

Okay, here it goes....

January is a month of regrets and remorse. And what gets me is that it's not something we'd feel naturally, but something we're spoon fed. We endure October through December being handed candy, stuffing, and yummy treats. We are literally told to buy, buy, buy. And then January rolls around and suddenly we all have to lose weight, get fit, and buy oodles of plastic containers to store the oodles of stuff we just bought. We're made to feel bad for enjoying and giving. It makes me nuts.
:hug:

i looked them up on google and found a company who makes them for Disney, but we couldn't get them.
Oh no!!!!

Oohhhhh, can we see it yet?????
Not till Monday!

Can't remember why I quoted this now Angela? :rotfl2:

So, I have a cute bag I'm buying. It's so cute. I thought it would nice to have on trips. It's only $17 and it goes across your body.
Here's a pic:
Very sweet and great price!

Jo - you'll be fine (can you email the link so I can see what you are up to), BTW saw your trip report and will be reading this weekend, can't wait to see what you did.
Good to see you Mo, I don't go live till next Monday but I'll send you the link then :thumbsup2 Good luck with the Dr and have a great time with T!

... [/COLOR]I need a Wii Volley ball... if they have NOT invented that one... they should !!!:banana: :banana:
I know Carrie answered you but we have a game called Big Beach sports which I'm sure has beach volleyball on it :thumbsup2

Actually, no. :confused3
I resent it, have fun at Target and don't forget my milkduds ;) :rotfl2:

And honestly, I wanted so much more for myself :sad2: so staring at 40 and looking where I am now, and what's coming ahead in the next few months (or lack thereof) is freaking me out gals..
LL you've done tons with your life, heck not long ago you chucked yourself out of an aeroplane :rotfl2:

i feel like doing a big fat nothing today!!! i need to go to walmart for a few necessities.........soy milk, diapers, toilet paper, wine.........:rotfl2:
Love how wine is a necessity :rotfl2:

Of course we love you, Jo - we're all just a jealous bunch! ;)
You'd better or they'd be trouble ;) :rotfl2:

It's a fun way to exercise, you do quite energetic things like hulla hooping, step aerobics, jogging. There is also yoga on there. It depends how often you'd do it, like all things!

Tell me about it. I never made it back on after heading home yesterday, so I'm figuring that puts me about 12-15 pages behind. :faint: Summary anyone? :worship:
I know they all chat so much don't they :sad2: :rotfl2:

I've finished my TR :sad1: Good timing though as today I answered my first 3 questions :thumbsup2

Thanks, Kate. Sorry, I changed the question while you were ansering it! :lmao:

My thing is that I want to do stuff in my house- not where people can sit in their yard and snicker as I huff and puff past. :rotfl2: Of course, I have so many workout DVDs and I've never used them. :confused3

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for the link, Katt. i'm going to read it now.:surfweb:
It yells at you if you go too long without getting on, I can tell you that. Stupid thing yells at me all the time. :mad: And mine keeps telling me how unbalanced I am. Like I need that reminder. :rotfl2: But seriously, it's fun. And you can definitely feel the workout on some stuff. My boys love it, especially the youngest.
OMG, Kate! LOL! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Angela - what's wrong with Reid, I hop he is ok
He had hernia surgery, but he's fine. Sitting in Mom's lap, not doing much.
Tomorrow I am heading to the foot DR one more time before the deductible kicks in. A little nervous as I think I maybe facing surgery. not sure how many of you remember me getting shots earlier this year. Well, the shots aren't working and my toes keep going numb. Of course if I do have surgery it will be carefully planned around my trips this year.
I hope it's no surgery. :)
Which reminds me, Angela, are you around the week of Feb 8th. I am there the 8th - 13th and would love to see you again. Any other Fockers there that week?
Yes! :cool1:
62 and 82.
Mine are a little older, 67 & 96, but maybe it's their generation. :confused3
Yep - all that too...Plus - I'm hitting the big 4-0 next month and I'm pretty darn upset about it...
:hug: Please figure it out so you can help me in 2010.
i need to go to walmart for a few necessities.........soy milk, diapers, toilet paper, wine.........:rotfl2:
Sounds like my list except cat food instead of diapers! :rotfl:
Can't remember why I quoted this now Angela? :rotfl2:
But I'm glad you did! :goodvibes
I thought they only did that in Pigeon Forge. :rotfl2: There are honestly people in lawn chairs facing the highway looking at who knows what!
Ok, Fockers! I am back from my therapy session (trip to Target) and I must say I have done a complete 360 (get it? 360? circle? Target bullseye?) I had not been out of the house in a week; and had not been to Target in a week; must explain my illness and panic attacks? No? But really, I do feel human again. :yay:
And waiting at home was a lovely brown box with these inside:
I'm glad you're feeling better. Those crocs are so cute! I'm tempted by the flip flops, because that's all I wear in the summer, but I hate the little bumps on them. I wish I could just wear them for a week and see if I like them. :rolleyes:
I wear the Sketchers flippies. :lovestruc
Is anyone else having problems with Facebook, it's so dern slow. I don't have the patience for that! :headache:
I wish I was kidding, Mel. I really do. It just told me again this morning that I'm very unbalanced. :confused3
:rotfl:
:hug: Please figure it out so you can help me in 2010.
and me in 2011. Wait, that doesn't make it worse, does it? :confused:
I have a friend from Germany named Birgit. When Birgit was turning 40 (3 years ago) I asked her if she was dreading it. She yelled NO, I am thankful for every year that I have to grow older with Keith (her DH). They met when he was stationed in Germany and he was exposed to something over there that gave him throat cancer. I hope when I am dreading the big 4-0 that her words will help me.
Ya'll are probably surprised that I don't already own the UNC ones? I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for them to be on sale somewhere.
I wear Croc flip flops year round. :goodvibes
Dear Diary:
Today I purchased 78 gift tags for next Christmas. I will find an appropriate locale and make a separate entry to note their location.
Thanks for posting that, S'late - I think. I now await a package with 3 pairs of crocs. :lmao:
Hey they're having a great deal at Crocs.com and I found a free shipping code. Loved those Tinkerbelle crocs for Maddie, so snatched those up, a pair of Mickey Mouse ones for Evan and a pair of scutes for him as well.
Thanks again. :rolleyes:
Need to do a minimum of 15 a week, it said that in the info when we originally applied back in September, just being wary I don't say anything I shouldn't :rotfl2:
Easy peasy! ;) What if you are on vacation? Or worse... SICK! Can you increase some weeks and decrease others?
Well my birthday is Feb 1st so that's something to look forward to :snooty: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I'm right behind you kiddo. We are just weeks apart!:thumbsup2
Okay, here it goes....
January is a month of regrets and remorse. :
Jan is gloom and doom in MN! The temperature outside is in the negatives and the sun rarely makes an appearance.
I'm starting to fill in some info for our taxes. :eek: I wonder how much uncle Sam is giving me back this year. Of course, it's already spent. We'll pay our taxes and for our trip with it. :rolleyes:
