Hello from KC new netbook. Man this thing is tiny! It's making me lazy tho since i can sit on the couch and surf the web with this 5 lb thing (maybe less) on my lap.
Are netbooks any good?

Today I am attempting to make a cake from scratch, never done this before, usually I just use a mix but I thought I would give it a try. This is a trial run for Alek's birthday cake which I will be making in two weeks time. I plan on taking the cake I made today into work and using my coworkers as guinea pigs.
How did it go? I bet you'll never go back to a box now :thumbsup2

Jo _ I would never say I told you so:rolleyes:
Of course not :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Did I miss how the Derby thing went? Did they win? And sorry the shower was boring, I'm so glad we don't have them :rotfl2:

Awww bless sounds like you're having fun :goodvibes

Still got snow, some has melted but we're due more. The Army has had to come and dig some people out in the remote parts of Kent  The vicar wasn't at Church because they're snowed in in their home in France and don't know when they'll be back. Not sure if the girls will be back at school as the roads are still dodgey, hope so though as they're even getting fed up with it, I suppose it doesn't help that we don't have proper ski wear so they don't stay warm and dry when they do go out in it!

Wow, rich vicar! ;) I hope the kids can have fun and go back to school.

*******************************************************
It's pretty cold, but we think we're going skiing for the afternoon. I've not been out yet this year, and our favorite place has really cheap Sunday afternoon tickets. :thumbsup2

But that means I have to get going! Have a great day, everyone!

I typed a reply to everyone and carried my laptop down stairs and poof, it's gone!
:confused3

Lets see what I can remember-

CE- Yea about the car in the garage. I hope you get the phone part worked out.

Jo- For your sake, I hope the snow goes away and you get your DH back to work. I didn't realize that he wasn't salaried. What a bummer the snow is for him.

I'm feeling bad for all your warm weather people experiencing cold. I can only imagine what it's like for you. I know when it's extremely hot, I melt, since us cold blooded MN's aren't used to it. Poor things, stay warm!

Janet- How are you feeling today?

Kat- How was the chicken?

I hope our friends at WDW are enjoying their time together. Looks like they are having a blast. :thumbsup2
--------------------------

I need to get motivated and get off of this computer and go create my DS's class' yearbook page. It's due this week and I am unmotivated. I also really need to finish Emilie's Memorial scrapbook (She's my friend who passed 2 Christmas Eve's ago, leaving a 6 month and 2 year old behind). I have a few pages left and I'll be done. It's just very draining... but I need to complete it.

I'm still working on Dh for a SB trip. He is adamant that he doesn't want to go. But the rest of us DO!

Snoopy just rolled his eyes and looked at me for help!!:lmao:

Of course not :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Did I miss how the Derby thing went? Did they win? And sorry the shower was boring, I'm so glad we don't have them :rotfl2:

The actual race isn't until the 30th. The boys are out now getting more things for it:confused3

Ugh, that stinks. Without the vicar (I assume this means minister?) there, does that mean there were no services today?

HAve fun!

Janet- How are you feeling today?

Better thanks:goodvibes

So go without him:rolleyes1 :lmao: That will make him change his mind!:thumbsup2

Good Afernoon All!!!
Jo ..the snow must be bad !!

Hope everyone is keeping warm!! I also sure hope it warms upin Florida before Feb. 4th!!!! V , Angela any word on that???????:confused3

Wow, rich vicar! ;) I hope the kids can have fun and go back to school.
:rotfl2: he had the house before he became our vicar, his wife had a well paid job, plus the vicarage isn't his it comes with the job so it's sensible to have a house too :thumbsup2 Hope you had fun skiing and it wasn't too cold!

Jo- For your sake, I hope the snow goes away and you get your DH back to work. I didn't realize that he wasn't salaried. What a bummer the snow is for him.
Yup as he's self employed no teaching means no money :sad2: It sounds as though you're doing a fabulous job on Emilie's book, how are they all coping?

The actual race isn't until the 30th. The boys are out now getting more things for it:confused3
Oh OK :thumbsup2

Ugh, that stinks. Without the vicar (I assume this means minister?) there, does that mean there were no services today?
Some one stepped in and it was great as the service was over in half an hour :rotfl2: Must admit that as Ellie gave up choir this is the first time we've been since start of December!!!!

Jo ..the snow must be bad !!
Pretty bad!

The school website is saying still no school tomorrow for my girls,it might change but as we had a load more at the weekend it's covered the site again making it dangerous. They're taking in the higher years but not mine!

Jess and D made half an igloo in the garden this afternoon, they ran out of snow so they couldn't do a full one :rotfl2:

Not the best photo but you get the idea..........

Wow Jo that is BAD for England !! Not for Western New York though !!!We could make a village !!!:rotfl2:

Glad you guys are enjoying the snow Jo, I know how you love it. Love the igloo/fort they built. I loved building those when I was a kid. My mom used to put food colouring and water in a spray bottle so we could decorate our snow houses/paint the snow.

The cake turned out okay, I think I need to modify the recipe a bit and add slightly more vanilla.

Great snow fort, Jo! Tell the kids and DH great job! The scrapbook for Emilie is going well, even if I've failed to do the work I need to today. I wonder if I'm subconsciously trying to not finish it. hmmm...:confused3 Her boys and DH are doing well. As well as can be expected, that is. Steve is very, very overwhelmed... which is expected. I can only imagine how difficult his life is as a dad to two children under 3 and the soul provider for everything emotionally and physically.

Lessa- We've done that with food coloring too. The problem is that I don't want it to get on their winter clothes. :headache:

Janet- Glad you're feeling better. I would tell DH that we're going to WDW without him, but I worry that it would be hard since Tink refuses to go on several rides and DS would really miss out. But it is an option! :thumbsup2

I think that I need sun. I hope it comes out tomorrow. Cliche, I know. :)

Hi!

Hello from KC new netbook. Man this thing is tiny! It's making me lazy tho since i can sit on the couch and surf the web with this 5 lb thing (maybe less) on my lap.

we are watching season 1 of How I Met Your Mother. We just discovered this show and its SOOOOO funny!!!! we will probably be watching it all weekend.

Tonight we are cleaning out the closets tho, i got a new hanging shelf thing for KC's and a new over the door shoe hanger for him as well. Hopefully we can downsize some stuff too.

chicken has been taken out for dinner, i think im going to try Rachel Ray's roasted chicken and grapes, sounds good in a weird way.

Have a good Saturday everyone- stay warm!
You are joking about the warm thing, right?:rotfl2:
I hope you got everything organized.

Hey everybody! I know I am a bad Focker for not checking in here more, have mercy on me! :goodvibes

I feel so bad for all those in WDW on vacation right now. Brrr!

Well my "Christmas break" is almost over, I start classes again on Monday. It was nice having three weeks off of school even though I was working the whole time.

I have spent the last couple days getting my butt kicked in the new Super Mario game for the Wii. He keeps killing me on purpose, thinks it is funny.

Today I am attempting to make a cake from scratch, never done this before, usually I just use a mix but I thought I would give it a try. This is a trial run for Alek's birthday cake which I will be making in two weeks time. I plan on taking the cake I made today into work and using my coworkers as guinea pigs.
Have a nice last day of break.

Good evening all. Really quiet around here this weekend...

Baby shower was B-O-R-I-N-G as expected. After I was able to gracefully remove myself from there I headed to WalMart and did the stock up on the non-perishables and the cleaning/laundry stuff:thumbsup2

Jim is watching the Eagles. I hope they win, only becasue I don't feel like hearing him all night:rolleyes1

Tomorrow is taking down decorations and cleaning and laundry:laundy: I hope I can get it done, I'm really not feeling good. I think I may leave the boys to watch the game and head to bed.

Have a good night everyone!:goodvibes
Showers of any kind are the worst. I'm such a dits when it comes to babies anyway.

Well I hope for your sake they get things up and running by Monday. The picture of the snow fort is very cute. Looks like a very wet snow.

Watched my bud Graham Norton last night. It was his first show of the season on BBCA. It was a hoot as usual.

It's pretty cold, but we think we're going skiing for the afternoon. I've not been out yet this year, and our favorite place has really cheap Sunday afternoon tickets. :thumbsup2

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I have to work the next 3 nights.

They are showing snow showers for tomorrow. Hopefully that will be light stuff. Usually the roads are OK when I leave for work. They are bad when I come home in the early AM.

Nothing planned for this week besides work. That is unless Doug needs to go to Indy.

Hugs to all!

CE- Yea about the car in the garage. I hope you get the phone part worked out.

Thanks, I'm pleased! The $#&@ salesman didn't call back yesterday, and they are closed on Sundays. Who knows. I'm not expecting much. :sad2:

:rotfl2: he had the house before he became our vicar, his wife had a well paid job, plus the vicarage isn't his it comes with the job so it's sensible to have a house too :thumbsup2 Hope you had fun skiing and it wasn't too cold!

Ah, right. ;) We did, thanks!

Jess and D made half an igloo in the garden this afternoon, they ran out of snow so they couldn't do a full one :rotfl2:

Very nice!

I hope you had fun!

Yes, thanks!

Well... It was very, very cold, but it was fun. The ski hill we went to has a Sunday afternoon half-day ticket for $25 for NH residents, so that's not bad at all. It's our favorite hill, too. We got up, did about 3 runs, came in for hot chocolate for a while, then went back out and did 3-4 more. It works out to about $3.50/run, which is VERY reasonable - and of course we have all our own stuff, so we don't have to do rentals. :thumbsup2

That was fun, then we stopped and picked up Chinese food (and wine, it's still the weekend... :rolleyes1) and the kids are just heading to bed.

The new car did GREAT as a ski car  - the gear fits with no issue (and extra room) with the 3rd row folded down. The all-wheel-drive was fantastic! The kids tried out the built-in DVD, too. :goodvibes

I have to get it inspected (since we bought it in Mass., they couldn't do it for me at the dealer) and then I have team tennis drills and a grocery run in store for tomorrow. D is flying T/W, then he should be around for ski club on Th. again. He flies almost all next week, and the week after that, he's gone for 7 days to Argentina. He's been home since well before Christmas, so it's actually going to be weird for me to have him gone now. Usually, we're not in such a routine, so I'm ready for him to go! :rotfl:

Last thing, and it's not so fun... I need some pixie dust for my friend Deb and her mom. I think I mentioned that we started Christmas dinner late because her mom was in the hospital with breathing issues. She was released a few days later, but last weekend was sent back in. She is steadily getting worse. They can not figure out at all what it is - no signs of tumors or malignancy, but the lower third of the right lung is completely compressed and not inflating. Now, adding on to that, they have found through all the testing that one of her ovaries is enlarged, and as of last night, she's incoherent and not always recognizing Deb. :guilty: Deb is really scared, her mom is now in ICU and having to be restrained because she's fighting all the care.

I hate this so much for both of them. Deb doesn't know what to do because when she goes into the room to see her mom, her mom either doesn't recognize her, or, if she does, screams constantly for help. They had given her some Atavan (sp?) for her anxiety yesterday, and it seemed to help her deal with the pain and the stress. However, they are wondering if she had a bad reaction, and in the meantime, they aren't giving her any meds of any kind - even for pain. Deb is scared and sad. I just can't imagine. I mean, I've had family members get sick, but they usually can diagnose and then have a plan. To not know why any of this is going on is so frustrating and scary. They've run batteries of tests, and can't find anything like cancer, but then, what is it?

Anyway, good thoughts are appreciated. :grouphug: Thanks, guys.

What a good idea. I've never heard of that!:thumbsup2

Janet- Glad you're feeling better. I would tell DH that we're going to WDW without him, but I worry that it would be hard since Tink refuses to go on several rides and DS would really miss out. But it is an option! :thumbsup2

That's true too. Hmmmm, we'll have to think of something to convince him;)

I think that I need sun. I hope it comes out tomorrow. Cliche, I know. :)

The sun has been out here, but it's been so cold who can go out and enjoy it:headache:

Hi!

That is unless Doug needs to go to Indy.

Keeping the good thoughts coming!

Sounds like fun

Jimmy loves the DVD player in the van and it is great when we have a long ride somewhere:thumbsup2

Last thing, and it's not so fun... I need some pixie dust for my friend Deb and her mom.

Good thoughts heading north:goodvibes:hug:

+++++++++++++++++++++

Got lots done today:thumbsup2 Most of the laundry is done. Got all the indoor decorations down and packed up. The outside decorations are still up. Just too darn cold. It is supposed to warm up this week, so that will get done next weekend.

Jim and Jimmy did more stuff on the derby car and then Jim hooked up the new internet stuff from Verizon. Did I tell you that? That we were dropping Comcast for internet and Cable and dropping AT&T for the cell phones and bundling everything through verizon? I think I did. So tomorrow I will call Comcast and cancel the internet. The Direct TV Dish isn't being hooked up until 1/30 so I won't cancel the cable until the Thursday before that.

Other than that not much going on. Heading up to take a shower and get ready for the work week. Have a good one everybody:goodvibes

We have had a "dual monitor, strap to the back of the front headrests system" forever. We'd never make it to IL without :scared1: - but it's nice not to have all the wires and crap. :thumbsup2

He is funny isn't he and rather rude :rotfl2: Hope you got to work and back safely!

Last thing, and it's not so fun... I need some pixie dust for my friend Deb and her mom.
I'm so sorry, I hope they find out what it is soon and give her some pain relief  Glad the car was good and you had fun skiing!

Wahoo for driving. I hate not being able to drive.

And I thought I quoted the pictures, but great fort by Jess and David:thumbsup2

++++++++++

At work. Rough morning. Jimmy did not want to wake up this morning. Not good, we were running late and I didn't get here until 8:45 or so. That's late for me. I am usually here by 8:00. I hope this doesn't translate into a not good day at school *fingers crossed*.

He has a 5:30 therapist appointment and I have a 7:00 Home and School Meeting. I'm so not looking forward to it. I just want to stay home in this weather.:headache:

Other than that, not much happening. I am at work, and actually have to do some work.

Have a great day all:goodvibes

Morning Fockers! :goodvibes Mitch left yesterday so I'm need to clean today, or maybe not. I have 3 weeks. ;)

CE, I hope the doctors can help your friends mom.

Jo, I can't believe how much snow you've gotten. Glad the girls are enjoying it.
