Team Focker Watch, Part 12. Have we jumped the shark yet?

So, what did you wind up doing?
Nothing :rotfl2: Well the girls made a mess, ooops I mean made some cards and I did a bit of sewing, Ellie's choir robes needed fixing and lets just say I am not a seamstress :rotfl: Have fun at the footie BBQ.

So what are everyones Thanksgiving plans other than leaving me here talking to myself of course :rotfl2:

We are taking Jimmy to see the Thanksgiving Day PArade (weather permitting) and then I will have the invasion of the in-laws!

Hi friends-
Whew--what a long couple of days! Thanks for the prayers and thoughts!
She's resting now (fell asleep during the Tech game which we had tickets for...sigh...)

It all started Wed nite at the game---remember I posted that BA had been cheering and then was sick?? Well, she got REALLY sick...the whole nite she was up with severe stomach pain and vomiting...then a fever came in the wee hours of the morning. I was on WebMD trying to decide between gastroenteritis and appendicitis (the first was the internet doctors best guess...)

But by 6 am, I realized we weren't gonna be able to wait till the doctors office opened so we went to the ER.

They got her right in...and the ER doc said it looked like appenicitis--and asked who we wanted to operate. :eek:

She had to have urine test...blood test...start IV...CT scan really quickly then the surgeon came in (we knew him--his daughter cheers with BA)...
she asked him if she could still compete if she had the surgery---he said she'd be fine by 12/12! (not that there was an option anyway)

She wanted to know--
will I feel it?
will I wake up??

I thought those were good questions prior to any surgery!

Then they took us to the holding room...gave her some "I don't care" medicine (Versid)....and she started singing....."Staying Alive"----she said "that's my goal!" Couldn't argue with that!

Then the nurse came up and said they had an emergency C section come in and BA said 'OK--TAKE THAT BABY OUT!":rotfl:

Finally at noon, they operated....by 2 she was in recovery then into a room. (oh--they did it laporascopically so that's better)

I thought she'd be tired---but she wanted her cell to text all her friends! They came by to see her after school which she liked--lots of sympathy! :rolleyes:

So we're home now---doctor and hospital called today to check on her and thought she was doing fine. had to take laxatives today which she didn't like but worked good!;)

So, I'm glad it's getting past us. The doctor said she could WATCH cheer practices this week and then probably cheer some the next---and he said he'd KNOW if she was doing it right, cause he's there! :lmao:

So what are everyones Thanksgiving plans other than leaving me here talking to myself of course :rotfl2:

I will be going to my grandma's for dinner with the family. The rest of my weekend will be spent with my butt on the couch enjoying my kid-free time.

Sorry I've been MIA Fockers. It really wasn't a crazy busy week but it just seemed that every time I sat down in front of the computer I had to hop right back up to do something. I quoted from this page and I hope everyone is doing good. :grouphug:

This weekend has been a busy one and I really am looking foward not only to the break from school but also from the kids. I know I will have some studying to do over break because once I return it will be finals week, but I don't plan on trying too hard, kwim?

Lindsey is still having a hard time in dealing with going with her dad for Thanksgiving. She broke down the other night about it and then again last night. It makes me feel like a complete failure as a parent because of this. I know I'm not and I keep reassuring her but it just tugs at the ole heart strings. I e-mailed my ex regarding this and like everything else I tell him it goes in one ear and out the other and he just blows it off. The man is in complete denial when it comes to his kids, their feeling and behaviors. Like I said on FB...he's just a moron.

The kids and I went to our local Christmas parade last night and then to a local college's football game today. Get this...the score ended up being 84 to 63 or something like that. I have never seen a football score look almost like a basketball score. :laughing: I am wiped out from it all though! Tomorrow will be laundry day and I need to get the kids things packed and ready. Hopefully I can be around tomorrow.

Have a good night everyone!:grouphug:

Gotta love happy medicine:rotfl:

and he said he'd KNOW if she was doing it right, cause he's there! :lmao:

Glad she is okay TE:hug:

Sorry I've been MIA Fockers.

Sounds like a fun day, but CHristmas parades SHOULD NOT be held before Thanksgiving;)

TE - Glad that BA is recovering and that seems to have handled the situation well. :goodvibes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Well I have had a somewhat productive day. Went out Christmas shopping this morning with Mom and picked up a few things which I have now wrapped and put under the tree. Nothing worse than a Christmas tree with no presents under it! I still have loads more shopping to do though, lots of it will have to be done online as the stores didn't have what I was looking for.
We also escaped near injury/death this morning. We were driving down the road and some jerk came speeding off a side street and onto the main road we were on. Well if I hadn't swerved into the other lane he would have side swiped the passenger side of the car which is where Mom was sitting. Even if we had escaped injury we still would have had a wrecked new car. :headache: Of course the jerk sped off, probably didn't even care that he had nearly killed us. :mad: Oh well, we are fine and so is the car. I am beginning to wonder if somebody is sending me a message, this is the fifth time this year that a reckless driver has endangered my life!
Once we got home Erich helped me string up the Christmas lights outside. I don't know what happened but we did not have enough lights even though we did last year. :confused3 We were two strands short so it looks like I will be going to the store to get some more sometime this week.
I also typed up a paper that is due on Wednesday which is pretty near miraculous if you know me and my habits. I usually wait until the night before it is due or sometimes I even wait until the day that it is due to type it up. :rolleyes::laughing:
Also in big news my university won the big football game today so they are off to the National Championship game next weekend. This is the first time in 17 years that they have made it to the Vanier Cup. Everybody is naturally really excited which should make work tonight interesting as student excitement most often leads to intoxication. :lmao:
Hey everyone!
TE - sorry to hear about BA. Hope she is better soon. Gotta love those happy meds. :lmao: At least she didn't say anything inappropriate.
Tracy- how can the school change the calendar after school has started? My kids have all next week off, too. My family always does a pig pickin party the Sat after Thanksgiving, but it was cancelled this year. (I know you really want an invite to this event.:rotfl2:) I was soooo tempted to do a last minute trip to WDW, but Mr Diz has also used up all his vacation time. Plus, we have a Great Wolf trip booked for December and a Disney cruise booked for Feb.
I have been super busy. I just started a business. It's embroidery and gifts. My website is under construction and right now I am running it out of my house, but am talking to someone about sub-leasing some space in her boutique. Not sure what I want to do yet. Might just stay out of my house for a little while. I did a fundraiser at my dd's school. I am doing another one at my ds's school in 2 weeks.
Hope everyone is doing well and has a great Thanksgiving. We are going to SC to see family - even though the pig pickin is a no go.
Jo sounds like my sewing:lmao:
Thanksgiving is at home I got a Free Turkey thru work !!!:banana: I will be making the annual pie with the kids on wednesday evening I am sure !!Still have to finish the food shopping but have the main course :lmao: and the spuds !!!!!!!:rotfl2:
Well if I thought yesterday was BAD:scared1: Try this on for size MISSING CONSUMER:scared1:We searched for 6 hours before we found her , police involved and all !! Now she is sorta on lock down with a staff on her like paint on wall !! I have to go back at 9pm for 2 hours to bethe paint !!!:lmao: What realy frosts me is all the "dang"paperwork it entails !
I AM OFF for 2 days :worship::worship::worship::worship:
Hi Kat !! Love the Loot !!!! The girls went to see New Moon last night at midnight and loved it !!!I am up so late as I did an overnight check and took along nap before goin in and now can't sleep!!!
I was going to go to a midnight showing but i really have low expectations of the movie. i'm really hoping its better than I think.
Your ears no better? How long have you been taking the tablets? Love all your purchases, what exactly are the haunted mansion things?
My ears are still the same. It's been about 4 or 5 days on the meds. I have a supply for 15 days if I take 2 a day or 30 if I take one a day. I have been taking one because they make me so darn drowsy.
The Haunted Mansion things are just little trinket boxes. There are a bunch of other neat ones too like of space mountain and a tiki room one, i have a weird obsession with boxes and containers.
Speaking of Christmas cards, is someone collecting lists again? I am in, if you need my address again, let me know. ;)
Mind you - we have no cards yet, but still. :rotfl:
I ahve the list from last year saved...so if anyone needs it let me know! I def wanna do the cards again if everyone else does.
Are we doing secret santa again? I already bought something for whomever when we were in florida. ;)
Hi friends-
Whew--what a long couple of days! Thanks for the prayers and thoughts!
She's resting now (fell asleep during the Tech game which we had tickets for...sigh...)
I'm glad even in the midst of all the bad BA still was in good spirits. So glad she's on the mend!
Well I have had a somewhat productive day. Went out Christmas shopping this morning with Mom and picked up a few things which I have now wrapped and put under the tree. Nothing worse than a Christmas tree with no presents under it!
Dude, a tree up already?? I haven't even finished planning turkey day dinner!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another day in a half an ear fog. Since taking the pills makes me super duper drowsy I called out of work. They take some of the pressure away but it isn't clearing out my ear as well , or as fast, as I hoped.

Poor KC is in the middle of a 16 days in a row work sprint and none to thrilled about it. We went to the grocery store for our turkey day stuff and ate some leftovers. He is happily gaming right now.

I am dreading this week. Monday i have a call-in shift so i can';t make any plans. Tues I have work and then I have to bake pumpkin bread for thanksgiving and make mashed sweet potatoes. Wed morning KC is bringing the food and an overnight bag to his parents house, before work, which will be a hassle BUT we are going to a concert Wed night and can't bring all the stuff with us. I also work during the day Wed. SO after the concert we are going straight to his parents house so we can get up early and help cook.

My only drama is that last year I cooked and they were really unappreciative. So this year his mom asked me to make lasagna and sweet potatoes and the pumpkin bread. Then the next time we spoke to her she seemed to not care again. I am frustrated and really hope all the trouble I'm going to in time I don't really have, will be appreciated.

Tomorrow I am making the sauce for the pasta bake. I decided a lasagna is too much work, and his mom hates ricotta cheese and i don't really think its a lasagna without it. And hopefully we can squeeze in seeing New Moon somewhere. Then Thursday I am sleeping all day! LOL.

Off to finally update my TR!

Hidy Ho Focker Buds!!!

Sorry, things have been busy. A big "Hello" to all of you. I don't have time to update. I really need to go to bed since we are getting up early, well early for me, and going to see the first show of the day for New Moon.
Pixie dust to all that need it.
TE I'm glad to hear BA is alright!
KAT nice WDW booty you brought back!

I'm gonna show ya'll some of the brother's wedding pics. Um, let's just say.......it was different. Hey, they have both been married before so........whatever. :confused3.

I think you could call it Rock-A-Billy themed???? My brother told me to dress casual, that's all. But, my new SIL's friends seemed to know a bit more. Um, her friends are, shall we say, a bit 'colorful' - a little left of the 'norm'. 6" heels and short black skirts were the order of the day. I think all the girls weighed about 90lbs. Yep, I felt overly round! It's a good thing that I do know some of my brother's friends. Of course the wives of those friends were also friends of the x-SIL. Interesting mix.:upsidedow

When Doug and I arrived, they were having pictures taken in the downtown alleys. I could not make this up if I tried.

Doug - as dressed up as it gets. We all went to the bar, Knickerbockers, after the ceremony. It was next door. My bro picked up the tab for everyone. :eek:

Let me just say, I think it was kinda 'tougue in cheek'. They had a good time. Everyone had a good time. They both have a quirky since of humor. I wish them all the best for sure.

I hope you all got a kick outta that!

Kat, hope it all works out OK.

TE, I read last night but got called away from the computer. I'm glad BA feels better, and her drugged up stories are hysterical. :lmao:

Kristel, it looks like fun! Different, but fun!

I had some other stuff to quote last night, but I'm sorry to say I've forgotten. I know Lori posted. Hi, Lori! :wave2:

I think Lessa did, too! Hi, Lessa! :wave:

**************************************************
Well, we ended up with a kind of crazy, but fun day. D took the kids to the opening thing for the town rec basketball, and while there, they ran into another set of boy twins whom they really like. They had been, one apiece, in kindergarten together, and one stayed with Woody for last year, but this year they are in 4 different classrooms. Their dad has been our t-ball/baseball coach the last couple of years, we had them on the boat this summer, but apparently they were "missing" each other.

So, we invited them over for a playdate, that turned into "Why don't you stay and we'll grill, it's nice out..." to "Sure, they can sleepover..." :rotfl: They had a ball - their mom is picking them up here in about 10 minutes. But, they were up SUPER late (the parents didn't even leave until 9:30) and then we have plans to leave Buzz & Woody at my friends' house again early evening tonight for a couple of hours whilst the four parents play tennis. I think they're going to be dead tired tomorrow - I guess thank goodness that we have the short week, 'cause this might get ugly. :rotfl2:

D's on the phone now with John to figure out what we're bringing for Thanksgiving. I'm glad we wound up with plans - D has to fly Saturday and Sunday next week, so travel is definitely out, even the last minute drive to Maryland. But, Deb is flying herself, which bums me out. It won't be as much of a good time for me without her there. :( We end up always at their house because there's a third couple whom we like and who join us for all these holidays, but who only know us through John & Deb. Apparently are fairly shy and funny about not wanting to put us out, so they'd prefer to be at the people's house that they know better, if you follow me. Which is fine, but then the people hosting are missing the wife, and it becomes slightly awkward as John's a bit of a control freak, yet also very much then counts on me to coordinate a lot of the cooking, since his wife's away. :rotfl:

OK, I need to finish up before the mom shows up for her kids. We're actually playing some tennis with the boys this afternoon first (I got a court, then found out that my friend couldn't come until after 5:00) and then going back to play with the grown-ups later. :goodvibes So, it should be a fun day, but I might not be around much. Have a good one!

I'm exhausted just from reading this. :rotfl:

Kristal - the wedding looked like it was a lot of fun. I think it's great the wedding matched their personalities and they didn't do it the way most people would have.

Lessa - sounds like you are on a good track with college. Good decision on the nursing.

Hi friends-
Whew--what a long couple of days! Thanks for the prayers and thoughts!
She's resting now (fell asleep during the Tech game which we had tickets for...sigh...)
I'm so pleased it was caught in time and you must write sown the stuff she was saying to tell her when she's older :rotfl2:

Lindsey is still having a hard time in dealing with going with her dad for Thanksgiving. She broke down the other night about it and then again last night.
That must be so tough :hug:

We also escaped near injury/death this morning. We were driving down the road and some jerk came speeding off a side street and onto the main road we were on. Blinking rained again today :mad: This is getting silly, both girls have colds though so we couldn't go far, my sewing yesterday was for nothing as we skipped choir :rotfl2: My golf match tomorrow has also been cancelled so D and I are aiming to go to the mall to finish the shopping off. I still don't have a big pressie for the girls, I did think of theatre tickets maybe Grease or something but it would cost over $300 which seems ridiculous. I know everything I write at the moment is about stuff being expensive :rotfl2: I also only have D 1 CD but everyone else is done :thumbsup2

Wow, good for you. I have bought a nightie for my grandma. :rotfl2:

Truly, I can't get much out of the kids, I have no lists from anyone else (parents, siblings, anything... not that I've given out much info, either.) and I am starting to feel it. Ah, well.

I'm sorry it's still raining, though. :hug:

((((((()))))))))))))))))))))
Hi, Miz! :) Glad to see you!!!

*********************************************
So the mom chatted for quite some time when she came to pick them up, and now we've not got a ton of time before the tennis starts. ;) D's out doing some manly something :rotfl: (leaf blowing or cutting up a tree that fell yesterday) and the kids are eating lunch. I've done some laundry, and that's my day so far. :thumbsup2

So, tonight is my step-son Bill's 31st (gulp!) birthday and we're all meeting at a local restaurant for dinner and then drinks with friends. According to my daughter-in-law, he's invited everyone he's seen for the past few weeks, so who nows how many people will show up :

Then, as I mentioned tomorrow is our big Christmas show and Sunday we'll have Bill's birthday dinner at our house. Around your birthday, we always let the birthday person choose their favorite for Sunday dinner. Bill always chooses his dad's Beef Rouladen, my Potatoes Anna, what we call "greasy beans" and a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. A meal we all love.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Sounds like a fun weekend, Denise. Toffee pudding? Mmmm... sounds yummy!
Enjoy!
:THe volunteering went really well. We only had to break up one fight (girls of course) and I threw out 2 other boys who were just running around and not doing what they were supposed to.
Niiiiice. :sad2:
We decided to go out instead of pizza. We got some yummo Mexican (T might even approve...) and now we're back home, watching a movie.
T approves of all Mexican, except El Paso kits! coughcoughJANET! ;):lmao:
Anyway... we're leaving for the in-laws in the morning, so I'll talk to youall on Monday when we are back.
I know I missed you, but have fun!

It's actually not raining here Not sure what we'll do though as the girls have tons of homework and they also want to make Christmas cards. At the moment they're eating toasted cheese sandwiches and watching Sponge Bob
I think I'll attempt that this year. :teeth:
We got up early. The boys went to do their Scouting for Food project and I went grocery shopping. The ACme the Saturday before Thanksgiving was:
We're doing that one, too Janet. It's a bit different for GS, but still a great experience. Do your boys tour a food pantry? We'll do that next Tuesday.

So what are everyones Thanksgiving plans other than leaving me here talking to myself of course
I'm having TG dinner here. My 2 brothers and their families are coming. I think we have a group of 15 or something? Not too bad.
So, I'm glad it's getting past us. The doctor said she could WATCH cheer practices this week and then probably cheer some the next---and he said he'd KNOW if she was doing it right, cause he's there!
Wow. I'm so happy she's recovering so well. :thumbsup2
I will be going to my grandma's for dinner with the family. The rest of my weekend will be spent with my butt on the couch enjoying my kid-free time.
Enjoy the quiet time, Lori. :goodvibes

Yickes! I tell you, there are some crazy, dumb *** drivers out there. :sad2:
Tracy- how can the school change the calendar after school has started?
Well, the whole story is the high schools had originally had the whole week off, and because the elementary and middle school levels didn't, the school district figured alot of parent would just keep their middle & elementary schoolers home as well. They'd lose quite a bit of money, so they let the teachers vote to take the whole week off and add those 2 days to the end of the school year. So apparently, this is going to be added to the calendar every year now, which I'm not opposed to, I just wish they'd told me sooner to I could go to WDW. :lmao:

My kids have all next week off, too. My family always does a pig pickin party the Sat after Thanksgiving, but it was cancelled this year. (I know you really want an invite to this event.:rotfl2:)

They had been, one apiece, in kindergarten together, and one stayed with Woody for last year, but this year they are in 4 different classrooms. Their dad has been our t-ball/baseball coach the last couple of years, we had them on the boat this summer, but apparently they were "missing" each other.

So, we invited them over for a playdate, that turned into "Why don't you stay and we'll grill, it's nice out..." to "Sure, they can sleepover..." They had a ball - their mom is picking them up here in about 10 minutes.

We end up always at their house because there's a third couple whom we like and who join us for all these holidays, but who only know us through John & Deb.

OK, I need to finish up before the mom shows up for her kids. We're actually playing some tennis with the boys this afternoon first (I got a court, then found out that my friend couldn't come until after 5:00) and then going back to play with the grown-ups later. So, it should be a fun day, but I might not be around much. Have a good one!
:faint:
My golf match tomorrow has also been cancelled so D and I are aiming to go to the mall to finish the shopping off.
I only have to buy 1 more gift and then a bunch of gift cards for the teenagers nephews and I am done. Andy and I aren't buying eachother as we decided the new computer and the WDW trip is our gift to eachother.

It was tough this year, as Evan only wanted expensive gifts and Maddie only wanted inexpensive gifts. It was hard to try to keep things "even", KWIM?

It been a busy weekend! Friday I took Maddie and Evan to DL to meet up with some friends and then my brother and SIL showed up with new AP's, so we hung out much later than we'd planned to. The kids were zombie's by the time we left and cried all the way home about "missing Dad". Oh brother. :rolleyes:

Yesterday I did the "regular" grocery shopping and then we chilled out with Andy. We watched Sunshine Cleaning. It was pretty good. Dark, but funny. Kinda like Little Mrs. Sunshine.

Andy's working today, TE and Waldo are heading to a 50th Anniversary party, both kids are a little under the weather and I'm bored. I think I'll either update my TR or start my January PTR. :scratchin:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :hippie:

Good afternoon!!! Been shopping fo the sunday bargains as usual !!Picked up more stuff for Thanksgiving!! Now all I need is cauliflower and iceream!!No not together !!!!:rotfl2:
Talking of crazy school closings ours are off Good Friday and then a week later OFF for 2 weeks !!! Now tell me that isn't eacherconvenience !!:rotfl2:

Sounds like a fun day, but CHristmas parades SHOULD NOT be held before Thanksgiving;)

:rotfl: It has been like this since I was little and I doubt they will ever change. I think it has something to do with the HS bands and if they made it later in the season some wouldn't be able to make it because of football playoffs. Or something like that?:confused3

We also escaped near injury/death this morning. We were driving down the road and some jerk came speeding off a side street and onto the main road we were on. Well if I hadn't swerved into the other lane he would have side swiped the passenger side of the car which is where Mom was sitting. Even if we had escaped injury we still would have had a wrecked new car. Of course the jerk sped off, probably didn't even care that he had nearly killed us. :mad: Oh well, we are fine and so is the car. I am beginning to wonder if somebody is sending me a message, this is the fifth time this year that a reckless driver has endangered my life!

:eek: Glad y'all are OK though.

I have been super busy. I just started a business. It's embroidery and gifts. My website is under construction and right now I am running it out of my house, but am talking to someone about sub-leasing some space in her boutique. Not sure what I want to do yet. Might just stay out of my house for a little while. I did a fundraiser at my dd's school. I am doing another one at my ds's school in 2 weeks.

:thumbsup2 Sounds great! Do we get to see some pics???

Thanksgiving is at home I got a Free Turkey thru work !!!:banana: I will be making the annual pie with the kids on wednesday evening I am sure !!Still have to finish the food shopping but have the main course :lmao: and the spuds !!!!!!!:rotfl2:

I use to work in a bank and that was one thing we got every year as our Christmas bonus. A certificate for a free turkey and then also a $25 gift card to do some shopping. I miss that!

My dad is the pie maker in our house and of course my kids help them out. I normally give them their new holiday PJ's at this time. Of course they'll be gone for this. :(

Hope you enjoy your two days off!

I'm gonna show ya'll some of the brother's wedding pics. Um, let's just say.......it was different. Hey, they have both been married before so........whatever. :confused3.

It does look like a different wedding, but it also looked like a lot of fun! Glad you guys had a good time.

:hug: Sorry for all the rain. We'll have rain all this week so I know the feeling.

It's the exact opposite here. DR wants the cheap little things and Lindsey is wanting the expensive stuff. It's sad that when I look at their lists. They have the same amount of items but Lindsey's cost WAY more than DR's. I feel bad and want to get him more to make up for that.

******************************************************

Not much going on with us today. The Steelers are playing and it's already looking like a crappy game for them. :mad: C'mon guys...pull it together!!!

The kids have been on and off the computers already this morning and I think they are addicted!

I'm doing in the process of doing laundry and getting them packed and ready to go. Speaking of which I hear the dryer beeping at me telling me the load is done.

Gotta go and hope y'all are having a good Sunday!

Truly, I can't get much out of the kids, I have no lists from anyone else (parents, siblings, anything... not that I've given out much info, either.) and I am starting to feel it. Ah, well.
As we go away in less than 3 weeks and we get home on the 23rd I have to get them bought and even wrapped :rotfl2:

Uh huh, I try and get them even on both money amount and actual gift amount. It's a nightmare!!!

Anyone know if netbooks are any good? Do they do everything a regular laptop does only they're smaller????
