Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Love the pics Janet!! But....what is a Phanatic? Looks kinda sceery! :lmao:

I wish we had a zoo near us--I miss the critters!

Daran is in England! It's after 5 there--he's already scouted out their place at the air show and checked in the hotel. He said the flight was nice---quite a bit different in first class apparently! ;)

TE - love the pic of Jo's lamp:lmao: and sorry about the dryer:headache:

Loving the trip report, my next installment is coming up;)

Janet - I really need to come to Philly for the history geek in me. Jimmy looks great, he is getting to big!

Rosie - is the Lake Erie that you are referring to?

*************************************

Well, we are in another heat wave, I am hibernating inside with the A.C. Weather like this and I might as well move to FL. What stinks is I have to haul by butt into Manhattan this week for a client meeting, at least I can take the water ferry as it drops off right in front of where I need to go (right across from Ground Zero)

Next stop Venice....

TE - chocolate for breakfast is always good.

Janet - I can't get over how big Jimmy is getting!

We we had a very interesting 16 hours! First lightning struck our TiVo. Within 5 minutes Zeta was on the PC purchasing a new one. This is a big deal for us as we are in a 'no buy' mode unless absolutely necessary. We just recently purchases a big tv. Up until 6 months ago we were watching a 10 year old, 19 inch set. We upgraded our TV to a 42" HD set. However, since our cable was running through our non-HD TiVo, we were not enjoying the HD part of our tv or our cable service.

We decided to splurge and purchase the HD TiVo so that we could do nexflix and also see the HD channels.

Well after our TiVo was hit last night I re-wired the cables bypassing the TiVo. For the first time we were able to experience the HD aspect of our television. After about an hour of watching live TV (no pausing, no rewinding) we noticed the little green light on the TiVo came back on meaning it was working again.

So I re-routed the cable again to test the TiVo and yep it was working again. So we had to decide if we were going to cancel the purchase on the TiVo or go ahead and upgrade to HD. We decided to keep the order and upgrade to TiVo. At the cost, however, of one meal at WdW.

Its a good thing though. Because since this morning the TiVo has re-booted itself 4 times. Apparently it isn't working 100%.

Also, in the middle of the night Tau snuck into our bed and starting throwing up at about 4 this morning. So I have been up changing sheets, washing clothes, cleaning the bathroom, etc. Poor baby, He is really congested and I think he just got choked and that is what made him sick.

To be sure though I stayed home from Church with him. I hate it because it seems something has come up about every other Sunday this summer. Hopefully next week we will be back on a regular schedule.

In the meanwhile I am making a list of all of the WDW attractions that we still have not seen as a family. I want to get as many crossed of my list this next trip as we are thinking of doing 'something else' next year.

Day 7 had us leaving Florence and heading to Venice via Bologna. Okay so we could have skipped Bologna, it was eh. I think they have us stop so we get to Venice after check in time. Bologna does have the world’s oldest University, but Barb, Tracey and I opted to sit out an outdoor café and shop rather than tour. We heard we didn’t miss much.

We stopped for lunch at a place on the main highway between Bologna and Venice, surprisingly I had a yummy tortellini.

Then it was time to see Venice…

OMG!!!! I just fell in love with this city.:love::love: I am so glad this was the last city, as all the others would have paled in comparison. This city is just UNBELEIVABLE!!!!

The first night was the optional gondola ride and then the whole group had a welcome to Venice dinner at the hotel.

First we checked in and while the rooms were small, I loved it.

ry%3D400

I had said if showers came in sizes, I would have asked for one size up, I think my butt may have been sticking out a bit when showering.
ry%3D400

The hotel is like a jigsaw. Barb and I were so excited that we had rooms near each other, 324 and 318. WELL, hold on.

We got off the elevator and found a staircase that I had to go up, Barb continued down the hall and found another staircase, going down. As it turned out, my room was directly above Barb’s, but we were on the same floor? LOL!

Barb hanging our her window directly below me
ry%3D400

I loved my view, I was on the Grand Canal and could see the top of St Mark’s in the distance!

ry%3D400

Those going on the gondola needed to leave and take a boat ride to St Mark’s square right after checking in.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

About half us went off for the gondola ride. OMG, you cannot go to Venice and not have a Gondola ride.

It was 6 to a gondola ride so we had the tour director keep the backseat girls together and we added another solo traveler Bill to our gondola. We had become Bill’s harem as whenever there was a table for 6 etc. we had Bill join us.

We had 6 gondolas for our group and one had musicians serenading us. Each gondola had a bottle of champagne, which yes even I had a glass,

I am so glad I did this, I can’t believe some opted not to.

Me and Tracy

We then went to St Mark’s square and as we were standing there the bells started to ring. I had goose bumps. I was finally in Venice, in St Mark’s square and listening to the bells. It was surreal. I just drank in the moment.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

With that it was time to take the boat back to the hotel for the group dinner.

Camille, Steph and Tracy on the boat back
ry%3D400

Dinner was delicious, chicken, string beans, carrots, yummy potatoes and some sort of tart for dessert. We had Bill join us again as it was a table for 6.

After dinner the back seat girls went for gelato and to walk around a bit.

When we got back we decided to hang in the bar for a while. The bar had outdoor seating right on the grand canal and a great musician that entertained us.

It was such a wonderful night, wonderful people and of course Venice.

I finally stumbled up to bed near midnight. I was on the top floor and it was so gorgeous out I slept with the window opened.

And why are they in school in July??
Because that's when school ends  :rotfl2:

so of course my dryer dies......sparks and all.....up in a blaze of glory....
Daft question but if it's hot and sunny why can't you line dry them outside?

I can answer the WHY in School !! In England the school year ends in late July!!So you figure 1 month extra for all those years , they have to be getting more edgimicated !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
So true :snooty: :rotfl2:

She invited my mother to go to WDW with her. Which means she is not going with us anymore.
Is that good or bad???

Becasue those Brits like to be different;) J/K Jo LY:hug:
Good job you love me :rotfl2: BTW how was the movie?

I think we'll do fine, just a little worried. I'm more worried about how 3 will fit in one seat on some rides, but Lindsey is my little dare devil and may be OK with sitting in front of me and DR. :confused3
As Janet said I'm sure most rides accomodate 3 :thumbsup2

Judy and kids and her ex or maybe not ex went !!
Are they getting back together??? Glad you had fun at the graduation!

They also have great yogurt in tiny glass jars which was really good! They like things in little glass jars--tiny jellies, etc---and we decided stuff tastes better in little glass jars than in plastic!
:rotfl2: Oh and just a FYI we have bridges and gates like that, just saying...................

I Good morning all. We had a lovely day yesterday. The Phillies and the city have created 20 Phillie Phanatic Statues and placed them throughout the city. The Cub Scouts put out a challenge to see how many each scout could get. Jimmy has accepted his mission ::yes::
Looks fun as yes as TE said what are those statues??? Have a good meal with Jim's family!

Daran is in England! It's after 5 there--he's already scouted out their place at the air show and checked in the hotel. He said the flight was nice---quite a bit different in first class apparently! ;)
When is the actual air show as I saw loads of planes go over the golf course today!

my next installment is coming up;)
I so want to go to Venice one day and I can't believe some people skipped the gondola ride!!!

We we had a very interesting 16 hours!
Yikes, hope it wasn't too costly!!!

Golf yesterday was fun, pretty posh with a nice 3 course meal etc but the 3 ladies I played with were lovely and we became great friends! Jessica's party went well except the 10 am pick up turned into 1 being picked up at 10.30am another at 11.10am and the last 2 at 11.25am  I was meant to leave at 11.15am to get to golf :sad2: I did make it OK but......

Today was a team scratch match against another club and I won my match and the team won 3 - 2 so we need to win the return match too :thumbsup2 Jess has gone to her friends as the Mum is taking them to school at 5.45am tomorrow to catch the bus to France :goodvibes

Not gonna quote !!!!
TE loved the French update !!I agree litte jars add to the flavor:)

Jo I know I am right about the schools in England !!!How well I remmber going ALL the way thru July before having summer break and how mad I was that the American kids who lived in the neighborhood were out soooooo early!!:rotfl2: As for The EX I am not sure !!If it was up to me it would be NOOOOOOOO!!:rotfl2:But Kyle really loves his Dad sooo I think she trys to work things out !! But when he ******* her off it is different and he does that a lot !!!:lmao::lmao:

Mo Venice sounds supreme !!:cloud9::cloud9:But who was kissing you!!!:confused3

As for the day bed , if he grew out of it couldn't the younger one use it ???:confused3

Well Kyle and I just did the weekly bargain shopping and he found me "Blinkees " I am stocking up on school supplies as they go on sale !!Waiting for Office Max to have their penny sales !!!:banana:

Off to work at 5pm and have another day off tomorrow other than Sam's dentist!! But everyone will be gone soooo I will have peace:cloud9:

Afternoon all. Read through everything just to lazy to quote today. I'm loving the travels to Europe. Italy is on my bucket list. France is out as Jim will never go there other than Normandy Beach.

To answer the question for Janet the statues are of this guy
166.jpg

He is called the Phillie Phanatic and is the team mascot for our baseball team - the Phillies. He is quite a celebrity around these parts and the kids all love him. He is actually quite a lot of fun to watch at the ball games. He goes into the stands and interacts with the fans, and plays around with the other teams and umpires. He's just a lot of fun.

Janet I loved the pics of Jimmy with the Phanatic and at the zoo. I renewed my membership but am not going until it is under 90 outside.

++++++++++++++
I am staying in the house hiding from the heat today. I skipped church because my church is old and hot, there is no air in it. I was supposed to be going to a friends house tonight but thankfully didn't plan on it as they are not answering the phone today. We vacation with them and I have been known to say that the other couple shares a brain at times. We are supposed to be going down the Jersey shore for a few days in 2 weeks and there are still no definitive plans made. :confused3 I love going down at 8 at night and driving around looking for a hotel.

Not much on the agenda tonight. I am starting to make plans for next years trip to WDW. My whole family, all 14 of us, are going down next August. My kids told me I am not allowed to plan but want to know details of our plans. :confused3 Right now it looks as though the majority of us will be driving from Philadelphia to Orlando. That is 5 kids in my car and the adults in another car or 2. We will be rethinking these plans as they want to drive straight through. :scared1:

I may check in again later. Have a good night all.

Because that's when school ends  :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 It's too hot here to go in summer---the schools are old and have no A/C.

Daft question but if it's hot and sunny why can't you line dry them outside?

1. I'm lazy and don't like to hang out clothes
2. The pollen sticks on clothes so my allergist said not to do that (which made me happy--see number 1)
3. It rained all day yesterday...:headache:

Got the dryer in today though! :cool1:

:rotfl2: Oh and just a FYI we have bridges and gates like that, just saying...................

But do you have yogurt in little glass jars?? ;) The Hilton must have a lot of UK guests cause they had "afternoon" tea with scones which we thought was great! Americans pretty much like to snack all the time so it was good for all!

Yes, and I should be there seeing them right now! (I'm working hard at making Daran feel guilty but he's not buying the "we don't go anywhere" talk!)
...still wish I were there...

The air show starts tomorrow---he is coming back on Friday so must end before then. He just called and said good nite--he sounded tired. He said the Marriott was nice. Hope the weather is nice for them.

Ah! Jess took a bus to France! Where are they staying?

Not gonna quote !!!!

Oh! Gotcha! I'm not a baseball fan so you would probably have to explain it to me if I lived there!

Bologna does have the world’s oldest University, but Barb, Tracey and I opted to sit out an outdoor café and shop rather than tour. We heard we didn’t miss much.

Are you saving your TR on Word? I would love a copy to save---Italy is definitely on "the list." And will skip bologna---although I can spell it thanks to Oscar Mayer!:rotfl:

We stopped for lunch at a place on the main highway between Bologna and Venice, surprisingly I had a yummy tortellini.

:rotfl2: remind me to post a pic of the cruise ship shower! It's good us of to keep these Fockers edgicated by posting pics of foreign potties and showers! :lmao:

:goodvibesWow, Venice does sound nice! Where to next??

Love the pics Janet!! But....what is a Phanatic? Looks kinda sceery!

He is the mascot for the Phillies:snooty: That's baseball;)

Janet - I really need to come to Philly for the history geek in me. Jimmy looks great, he is getting to big!

::yes:: Are you going to have ANY free time while you are here? I can get tickets for Independence Hall, but tours stop at 5pm. We'll talk as it gets closer!

Janet - I can't get over how big Jimmy is getting!

I know,my baby is growing up:sad1:

We we had a very interesting 16 hours!

I'll say! Hope TAu is feeling better:hug:

Okay so we could have skipped Bologna,

Yeah, I'm not a Bologna fan either. I much prefer imported ham or turkey;)

The first night was the optional gondola ride

I thought this was amandatory thing for anyone who vistis Venice:confused3

As it turned out, my room was directly above Barb’s, but we were on the same floor?

Goonies? Jimmy hated it!

I did make it OK but......

I can't believe that parents do that. DO they think you are a free sitting service or something? I would be mortified if that was me and I picked Jimmy up late, expecially without calling. I could see if an emergency came up and they called and said they would be late.

Today was a team scratch match against another club and I won my match and the team won 3 - 2 so we need to win the return match too :thumbsup2 Jess has gone to her friends as the Mum is taking them to school at 5.45am tomorrow to catch the bus to France :goodvibes

He too TE! Plus the teachers union would never go for it!

real quick. I just called DVC and they are asking if I was referred by a current owner. I wanted to give Dawn's name but realized I didn't know her name. If anyone wants credit for referring me to DVC please PM me your real name and state of residency.

Good Afternoon all !!

Mo I forgot to answere your Lake question!! Answer is Either Erie or Ontario both are close and to be honest I'm not sure !!:confused3 I would guess Ontario as Erie is close to Buffalo !!

Well Kyle and I just did the weekly bargain shopping and he found me "Blinkees " I am stocking up on school supplies as they go on sale !!Waiting for Office Max to have their penny sales !!!:banana:
Blinkies??? Aren't they dummies/pacifiers? :rotfl2:

Becasue the goats would eat them:confused3:rotfl2:

We won at golf and are in the semi-finals :yay: The people we played weren't nice though, OK one was but the other  Thankfully we beat them and very very easily too :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is my day off golf :thumbsup2

Crazy Busy at work. Jimmy at the swim club with his friend Tyler. Something just doesn't seem fair about that!:headache:

I realized today that I have 26ish days let until we leave for Williamsburg and I ahve NOTHING done. Of course there isn't as much planning as Disney, but I still have to shop ::yes:: I need to do a dollar store run for some cheap ponchos for me and Jim. (I am bringing Jimmy's very lightweight rainjacket for him), glow sticks for Busch Gardens, and all the travel size toothepastes, etc. None of us need clothes.

Also, before we go I want to get all the school supply shopping done. Jim has actually started it with the Staples Penny sales (and becasue he is a teacher he gets to buy 25 of whatever is a penny, instead of what the normal person limit is:snooty:). Today he is picking up the Staple White Glue (Their brand of Elmers) for a penny. He is going to get 25 of those, because we can use them for scouts:thumbsup2

The weekend before we leave for Williamsburg we will take Jimmy out to pick out a new lunch bag and new books bag. I will pick up his new underwear and sock then too. I will also need to have him try on his uniforms to see if any of them need to be replaced. His waist should be the same, but my luck he had a growth spurt and he will look like he is wearing capris:lmao:

I can't belive July is almost over :sad2:

Goonies? Jimmy hated it!

My grandson loved that movie at his age, but he thought Leprechaun was a comedy.:confused3 Young parents and no sense.

Saturday wasn't bad since we didn't get their until 5pm!:thumbsup2

I never thought about going later in the day. I usually try to go really early and just do a little bit. I do want to get the kids there soon. My membership includes all the extras like camel rides.

How come you get all the kids?

I get them because I have the DVD player built into the car. I don't mind but there better be another adult in there to or I will fall asleep.

Congrats. Enjoy your day off.

I realized today that I have 26ish days let until we leave for Williamsburg.
Enjoy it. I love Williamsburg. I just realized I haven't been there in over 10 years. I will have to get there next year if I can.

Also, before we go I want to get all the school supply shopping done. Jim has actually started it with the Staples Penny sales (and becasue he is a teacher he gets to buy 25 of whatever is a penny, instead of what the normal person limit is:snooty:).

I didn't get a Staples circular. I'll have to check it out. Of course since I'm not a teacher I have to get the standard amount. I get around it by going to the 3 that are by me if it's something I really want alot of.

His waist should be the same, but my luck he had a growth spurt and he will look like he is wearing capris:lmao:

I can't belive July is almost over :sad2:

Better now than later for a growth spurt. My son always went through his in October after school started and I had his clothes and uniform for the year.

Good afternoon everyone.

It's still hot here. I decided to skip the pool because the weather was calling for storms. Yep no storms this afternoon. It was probably a good thing as I have all 6 grandkids right now. Except for the minor skirmish here and there they have been really good and I should be done within the hour.

They have finally hired some replacements at my daughters work so sahe will go back to a slightly more normal schedule in a couple of weeks. I have been enjoying the extra day off but it will be nice to be done by 3 PM again.

Jim and I are supposed to be going down the shore for a few days with friends in 2 weeks. We were supposed to go over their house last night for a BBQ and work out our plans. They went out. I don't know if we will be sleeping in the car at this point because it seems they just want to go down and find a place when we get there. My grandson has refused to go with us. They have a son his age. Jay likes rides, the wilder the better. Last year their son thought the baby ferris wheel was the scariest thing he had ever been on in his life. Seriously. My granddaughter is going instead, although she will be bored she doesn't have the height to go on the wilder rides yet.

I will probably be looking for hotels tonight to see what is available so I will check in again later. Have a good afternoon.

Morning! I'm happy to report that the second week back from vacation is going MUCH better than the first. :thumbsup2 Leo's finally enjoying camp and work is chilled out.

Mo, I'm loving the Italy report - thanks for doing it!

TE, loving your France report, too! And I concur - yogurt in little glass jars is the bomb-diggity. Didn't you just love Galleries Lafayette?!

I've been busy here with future trip planning. We want to do a big Southwest trip next summer and some of the popular place book up a year or more in advance, so I'm trying to narrow those down and book. Suggestions and comments on the area are welcome!

Morning all. OVerslept this morning. I got up at 8:30, have to be in work at 9:00, and it is at leat a 35 minute drive. I made it here by 9:27. Not bad!

Jim and Jimmy are at OT and then will just be hanging out. Its going to be hot today, so they get the slip and slide out or something!

Last night Jim went Staples because they started their penny sales for Back to School. I needed the glue (the white stuff not a stick) for Jimmy's supply list. I told him to get 2, so we had a back up in case he lost it or whatever. He came back spending $100 :faint:

In his defense, he picked up some stuff for his classroom, which he will get reimbursed for and he got Jimmy's lunch box which was $10 (It's Spongebob ::yes::

Hey, where is Angeal? Still in the Carolina's?:confused3

Is the penny sale still on? Need to get stuff too

Oh no!

Wow you are good :goodvibes

Wooohooo and where abouts are you thinking of going?

Been lazy today, well inbetween cleaning and writing stuff for David :rotfl2: I then took Ellie to dancing and we knew that most of the other girls wouldn't be there due to school trips etc but it turned out she was the only one :rotfl2: So the teacher and I chatted inbetween her doing a few dances!!!

Is Jess back??

How's the weather? Hoping Daran is doing ok!
