Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Hi guys! Hope everyone had a fun weekend... we sure did - FINALLY! :goodvibes

Hooray!

That's it. No news on the job front; still hoping I make the cut. Hope life is treating you all well! :grouphug:

Still thinking good thoughts for you. :goodvibes

I think my mom insists on all holidays at her house because I'm the same way. I plan really well but me execution. . . well lets just say we had Thanksgiving at NINE PM one year. Of course that was many years ago and my mom was in a serious car accident the night before and I had never made a 25+ pound turkey before, but my dad ordered my mom to do all cooking after that in the hospital or not. I'm glad you had a good time anyway.

Yeah, part of the problem is that none of us want to get up and start cooking really early (as my mom does) and so we plan for the "dinner" time, but then if we're late, we're really late. I think, too, that things just take longer than they realize. :rotfl: I mean, they had the chickens all ready to go (marinated, set up, etc.), but since it was on the grill, John was cooking - and Deb was the one who knew it was 1 1/2 hours. I think if John had realized that, he'd have started sooner. He seemed shocked. :lmao:

I thought I would have a completely free day but I need to watch my one grandson for about a half hour and then my oldest grandson has a scrimmage game tonight to prepare for the opening of baseball season. It is going to be very weird being a spectator after coaching the past few years. I will be able to take a lot of pictures though.

Have fun!

It sounds like everyone had a nice Easter. Because my sister was in the middle of moving, I didn't think we'd do anything, but her MIL invited us all down for lunch. Very nice of her. :goodvibes My parents, sis, BIL, and Reid have been staying here since Saturday. Today the last of the paint and tomorrow the carpet, so maybe they will move on. I keep reminding them Karen comes Wednesday so they have to be out. :rotfl: Have I mentioned I'm used to being with myself all day? ;)

I'd be going nuts. :rotfl:

And I'm still saying.... a what???? :rotfl2:

Well, you put a rub on the chicken and then stick a beer can up its behind, and it seems to keep it really moist. :rotfl2:

At least you had fun, maybe set a timer before you start the margaritas next time :rotfl2:

::yes:: :lmao: Like I said, it was at least partially our fault, too - because if I had realized how late it was, I would have asked something like, "Do we have a time we need to get the chicken going?", then John would have known they took a while, then we could have started sooner, etc.

We then went for a walk before finishing the painting in the spare bedroom, all that needs doing is to wash the woodwork down, put up the new curtain pole and curtains (drapes) and refill the room :thumbsup2

D is still off tomorrow and I'm going to play a golf competition!

Nice, all around! :goodvibes

****************************************************
Tennis was nice. It's another lovely day - 72ish and sunny. :cloud9: It's supposed to get over 80 on Wednesday and Thursday - before hitting a high of 48 on Saturday. Nice. I honestly have both flip-flops and my Mammoth Crocs sitting out by the door, because you don't know which you'll need from day to day. :headache:

D is working on the new faucet, which needs a new pipe, which needs a new 2x4 in the studs, which... :sad2: Poor D.

I don't know if the kids are wanting karate tonight or not. Thursday is probably out due to book fair conflicts, but Friday would be OK as I should be done by the end of school, and tomorrow is fine.

And I'm still saying.... a what???? :rotfl2:

What's that Rosie??? Oh and what are devilled eggs too? :rotfl2:

It's a holiday here today and we went for an animal hunt, yeah we're weird :rotfl2: we used to do it all the time when the girls were little, we literally drive around spotting as many animals as possible, yep said we were weird :rotfl2: We then went for a walk before finishing the painting in the spare bedroom, all that needs doing is to wash the woodwork down, put up the new curtain pole and curtains (drapes) and refill the room :thumbsup2

D is still off tomorrow and I'm going to play a golf competition!

Jo Turtle pie is a creamy type pie with a chocolate graham cracker crust (remember GRAM as in....) and has carmel and I think nuts like the candy(sweets) Turtles !!
Devilled eggs are hard boiled eggs, shelled cut in half with the yolk scooped out and mashed with mayo a little mustard and salt and pepper !! Very Good you should try it of course be sparing with the English mustard !!

When you said animal hunt I thought you meant a FOX Hunt :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Any who I am awaiting a call from AAA:rolleyes1

My basket was always hidden, too. I think it may be that in both my case and for my kids, the egg hunt is never here, and never first thing. I always did a family one with my cousins at my grandparents', AFTER lunch and so forth, and we do the one here at Deb's later in the day... They need something to hunt in the morning, right?

Makes sense!

I love Deb dearly, but I should know by now that things never move fast over there.

This is why I like to do the holidays, this way I know we will eat a decent hour and no one has to feel rushed to leave afterwards ::yes::

Hi guys! Hope everyone had a fun weekend... we sure did - FINALLY!

Excellent!

Y'know, I have no idea how I got started hiding Leo's easter basket. Mine weren't ever hidden as a kid. I do always wonder, though how Leo thinks the EB gets his basket, as I "magically" appears full of stuff after being stashed in my storage closet the other 51 weeks of the year.

That's what I wa thinking. We just told Jimmy that we leave the empty basket out and the EB fills it, kind of like a stocking at Christmas:confused3

Anyway, we had the ideal FL day yesterday...

Sounds wonderful!:goodvibes
My refi was supposed to close last Fri... and they blew me off. As in a last-minute email saying it was delayed and then nothing... no calls, no emails, nada. I found out today that the rescheduled it for tomorrow (uh, thanks for checking with me first!), so here's hoping.

That's it. No news on the job front; still hoping I make the cut. Hope life is treating you all well!

Good luck reagrding both:hug:

then some soup with the bone.
\

Making soupr this weekend ::yes::

Yes, they stop war for Mitch's birthday.

Sorry but :rotfl2: Your mom makes me laugh. I know she drives you crazy though:hug:

Glad you're OK and you almost sound happy that more are coming  :rotfl2:

Doesn't she:scared1:

It's a new one Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang :thumbsup2 Can't believe we got it before you :yay:

I haven't heard about that one here, and I didn't see the first one either.

D is still off tomorrow and I'm going to play a golf competition!

Good luck!

Got lots of work done today. My desk wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after being off for 4 days:yay: Sitting here listening the Phillies game. They are BEATING the Nationals 11-1:banana::banana::banana:

Hopefuly Jimmy had a good day so we can play outside for a bit before bed. I want to take advantage of the nice weather before the carppy weather comes back on the weekend.

ANy more word from T? They keep mentioning aftershocks on the news here!

BBL:flower3:

This is why I like to do the holidays, this way I know we will eat a decent hour and no one has to feel rushed to leave afterwards ::yes::

That's the other thing - we didn't help much with cleanup or whatever, and they understood, but I still feel bad. The third couple likes to go to their house, though - we're only friends through Deb - so it's almost always there.

My Cards are winning 11-6 in the bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs... :goodvibes

When you said animal hunt I thought you meant a FOX Hunt :rotfl2::rotfl2:

thats what I thought as well, but i figured I better not question it.

As far as hidding easter baskets etc, I know that we always put ours out empty and then they were filled in the morning.

Does anyone else hang carrots on the door knob? Like cookies for santa we always hung a bunch of carrots on the knob and in the morning they were all eaten with just stubs left over. I still have pictures of my sis and I hanging them up the night before. :goodvibes

Just a quick hello. going to be a good wifey and surprise KC and go do the laundry this evening instead of waiting for him to come home. I hate doing laundry but at least it'll be done. Dinner is cooked from yesterday (we made roast pork) so I just need 20 min or so to make some rice later. That is if i can get off the pc. I keep finding things to organize here that were a mess. But my ipod is full of podcasts I haven't listened to so I am set, as long as i get off my duff and go.

Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Wow I didn't realise she was that young, so was she raised in Italy?

Yep, born and raised there until Maria married my Dad and dragged her over here with her. I think she was 9 when that happened. According to my Dad, Angelica was already having issues with stealing at that age while still living in Italy. I can only imagine though what being torn away from her family and friends must have been like and clearly she is a very troubled girl. Things have just been going downhill with her ever since she moved here and apparently escalated this past year. She has been caught doing drugs in school, she was cutting herself, apparently she ran away for a week last spring, she is failing in school because she skips and doesn't do the work, is disrespectful to all the teachers and my dad and her mom. She goes out drinking all the times, dresses like a slut. My dad of course had no idea how to deal with this kid as my brothers and I were never problems, at the most we just had bratty attitudes. My dad pretty much gave up and said that he is convinced she is going to end up a petty criminal like her father. Apparently Maria has also given up on her own daughter, thus taking her back to Italy. Maybe I shouldn't judge them since I have not been living through all this like they have but it seems like they have taken the "easy way out". Then another part of me is saying that she isn't really my Dad's kid and so shouldn't her real father have to take responsibility for her as well? :confused3

Lessa I didn't realise Maria was from Italy!!! I feel very bad for all 3 of them !!!:sad2:

:rotfl: Yep, that is part of the problem when it comes to interacting with her. It is hard for us to communicate as her English is not the best so either she doesn't understand us or we don't understand her. There is a lot of misunderstanding. But that is just one of the small problems with her, there are many more!

We are going to the Phils/Cards game on May 4th! Good chance for us to boo McGuire;)

We hang them on the door for the reindeer at Christmas, but just leave them on a plate for the EB!:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I need some quick help...

Which is better AKV Kindani or Jambo?

:confused3

Hey all. FIrst chance I had to check in. Came into work late. Jimmy had is second report period awards assembly. He got the reading and the math award:yay: Got here about 11am and just hit the ground running.

It;s another beautiful day, and of course baseball is starting on Saturday and it is only going to be 55 degrees:headache:

Hope you are all having a good day!:thumbsup2

Hi! Janet, congrats to Jimmy!

Busy day so far. I got up and just putzed around the house for a while, but then I went to Sam's for a big jar of pickles (a book fair contest) and some restaurant order books (the theme is All You Can Read, and everything's like a diner...) before going to my annual.

Then I swung by school - the books are in. Nothing to be done about it today yet, but there they are. :rotfl: They just look like SO many when they're all boxed up.

Janet, we got a cash register, though I have no idea how to use it. Tips and tricks? :flower3: For some reason, they also sent two credit card machines.

They also sent a lot more of the "Creative Fun" stuff that we just simply don't put out. That's good in the sense that I don't have to find a home for everything that's in the hallway right now, but bad in the sense that I have to schlep it into a closet, at least, and could have done with it just not being in the school.

The boys will go to karate today, and that's about it. D's got the new insulation in the walls, which is good, and finished the plumbing for the tub yesterday, as well. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone's having a good one!

I would be at the game with torn emotions. I grew up a Cards fan and they are still my favorite team. Of course I will root for the Phillies any other time. My grandson won't even touch anything that has a Cards emblem on it. :lmao: Of curse May 4th I will be coming home from Disney.

Congratulations to Jimmy.

We have our opening game for my grandson on Sunday. I am really praying for no rain. A little cooler isn't too bad, he's the catcher and really sweats a lot in all of the equipment.

+++++++++++

Good afternoon all. Hope you are all having nice weather. I love it but think I am allergic to the sun. Everytime I go out in it I get a weird rash on my arms. Of course my doctor has no hours at all today. I am waiting on a call back from the office. I will still be out in the sun I'll just have a blotchy tan (sunburn). I never tan.

Have a great rest of the day.

Hi! Janet, congrats to Jimmy!

Thanks!:goodvibes

Janet, we got a cash register, though I have no idea how to use it. Tips and tricks? :flower3: For some reason, they also sent two credit card machines.

::yes:: When you plug it and turn it on there should be a tab that says training.:thumbsup2

The first Nanny McPhee is really good and Jimmy would like it :thumbsup2

Yep, born and raised there until Maria married my Dad and dragged her over here with her.
Poor kid and it must be very tough on your Dad, how did he meet Maria? Sorry for being so nosy!

Jimmy had is second report period awards assembly. He got the reading and the math award:yay: Got here about 11am and just hit the ground running.
Yay :goodvibes

I'm sure you'll get it all done  Ours used to come in wodden boxes on wheels that opened up to form a book case so the packing and unpacking was minimal :thumbsup2

Beautiful day here, I golfed in capris and a polo today :thumbsup2 I also scored terribly, I had lots of good holes but I had 2 8's which stuffed the card up really :sad2: But when I left I was winning the cup, can't see that lasting though :rotfl2:

Tomorrow the girls have an orthodontist appointment, fingers crossed this one will fix Jessica's teeth free, the last one wouldn't. They do Ellie's as they're really crooked but say Jessica's don't warrant the free treatment so I'd have to pay

Just a quick fly by whilst my father is off the computer. Once in 4 hours. :rolleyes1 Supposedly my sis will be staying at her house tomorrow night, so they will be over there unpacking tomorrow.

That's got to e tough on her with school too, no:confused:

Angelica picked up English pretty quickly due to her age, her performance in school was due to pure laziness. Maria though is another story. She gets by and can get her point across but I don't think she will ever speak English smoothly/fluently.

Poor kid and it must be very tough on your Dad, how did he meet Maria? Sorry for being so nosy!

It is, he really dislikes the fact that he has been stuck supporting this kid that is not his own because the dad is a deadbeat and the only job Maria is qualified to do gets paid minimum wage.

My dad is a cheating scumbag! Was that harsh? ;) He met her while still married to my Mom. He was in Italy for a NATO meeting and met her at the restaurant she worked at. At least that is what I THINK happened as he has never told us. Then again, how exactly do you go about telling your kids about the slut you picked up in Italy while cheating on their mother?

::yes:: When you plug it and turn it on there should be a tab that says training.:thumbsup2

OK, thanks!

We put all that stuff out. The kids buy it all! The posters, pencils, bookmarks, etc

We do the pencils, posters, erasers, and little stuff, but the stuffed animals, voice changers, electronic gizmos and bigger expensive items, not so much. The parents don't like when the kids come home with that instead of books. We put some of it out during the parent-teacher conferences, so the parents can decide, but... :confused3

I'm sure you'll get it all done  Ours used to come in wodden boxes on wheels that opened up to form a book case so the packing and unpacking was minimal :thumbsup2

Well, we get 11 cases full, but there are at least two layers of boxes sitting on top of each of those, with books that aren't already IN the cases. :scared1:
