I'm gonna call and see if this PIN extends to when I wanna go! (you never know, right??)

So, we are not allowed to wish Happy Birthdays?? Well, uh, my "holiday" is 1/13 so you can send Disney dollars instead!
I will keep that date in mind....:goodvibes

(and that's a great way to pimp out your TR--just say you got in trouble for writing something and everyone scurries right over! ;) :lmao: )
Hadn't thought about that...hope it works though.:goodvibes

Oooo.....<<raising hand and jumping up and down>> can I be one too???? We'd been a great team--combing through the threads for inappropriate smilie usage! Wonder how much it pays???
:rotfl2:

[/QUOTE]

Nope I was the clown :rotfl2:
:rotfl2:

I thank all of you for making me laugh-needed it today.

I am about to go watch DS11 play in his first football game in this new division he is in.Some of these boys weigh close to 200lbs.:scared1:

Thanks for the welcomes everybody! I'm excited to be here!

TE - I read about the bullying problem your DD's and friends are experiencing. That is terrible and I am so glad that the school is taking action and dealing with this.

Jo - The pictures of the girls at the concert are great. I never had the guts as a kid to perform on stage like that. I always became a nervous wreck. Jess and Ellie look really confident though and like they are having a fantastic time.:goodvibes

So, is anyone looking forward to the season premiere of House tonight? We watch House, Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy... although, I don't know if I want to keep watching Grey's... unless Callie O'Mally gets to cat-fight with Izzy and take her down! LOL! :lmao:

-Michelle

I am really excited for House tonight! I only started watching it this summer and have seem all the episodes (watched them at work):rotfl:

I'm also a fan of Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. Thursday tv actually causes problems for me because there are too many shows on at the same time that I like. Makes for some tough decisions.:sad2:

My lime green baggallini and my lime green crocs are ready to enter the world of Focker Watchers. I hope I can live up to your expert fockerness. :goodvibes
Maybe I'll see some of you at Epcot for the F & W festival.

OK boring stuff, golf again :rotfl2: I had a big comp today and was going really really well then had a 9 where you're meant to get a 4   :headache: I finished 5th so not bad but I had 8 pars (I'm only meant to get 2 with my handicap) so should have done so much better, oh well at least I did some good holes :woohoo: I really feel like this though :sad1: So did anyone understand that? :rotfl2: I've got you all talking English now to make you all golfers :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

You have much to learn...much to learn...

Hi all just stopping in and trying to catch up. School has started plus my days are full with kids and play groups and library and parks and preschool runs. I will pop in and out but find it so hard to keep up with the conversation when I am busy with real world responsibilities. I will probably be going into lurker mode for awhile here and on the TR's. I find it easier to post in areas I don't have to keep track of who is saying what. Like ya eat there it was great and then never read the thread again.
Well got to go and take my dd to class. She is taking 2 collage courses on top of a full high school load this year.

TE - I did want to say that I am glad the school is taking the bullying problem seriously and hold them to that. I had to go to the school about something like this with my dd and if you don't stay on top of the school they tend to slack off after a bit.

Hey, TE, glad to know that it's being worked on! :)

I'm loading up my pics on photobucket right now, so I hope to have my Cabo mini-TR up tonight!

I'm all excited for Bones tonight. I started reading Kathy Reichs' books long ago, and the characters are loosely based on her and her books. They're nothing like the books as far as character points, but I still like the show - I just kind of think of them as separate entities and I'm fine. ;) (Normally I hate when movies or shows mess up the books I like.)

Lessa, Thursdays are hard for me, too! :)

DM, your career choice, well... :lmao:

overview-lcm9.jpg

Before this trip, I could NOT find much info on Los Cabos. I only vaguely knew where we were going. After the uber-planning for WDW and the ridiculously overstuffed (and therefore meticulously planned) driving trip this summer, I felt adrift... at sea...

So, a short lesson in case you're as clueless as I was. :teacher: In the above map, we see most of the state of Baja California Sur in Mexico. The dangly bit under the US California? That's Baja California, and it's divided into two states, Baja California and BCS (Baja California Sur). When US California was Spanish, it was known as Alta California.

Anyway, down there at the bottom of the map? That's the area known as Los Cabos. There are two main towns - Cabo San Lucas (known as a party town and cruise ship stop) and San Jose del Cabo (a quiet, more "authentic" town.) There is a highway running between the two, about 20 miles or so, that is known as the "Corridor." It's full of hotels and so forth. That's where our hotel was located. The area is very odd to me - one side of the road is total desert - cacti, brush, sand, etc., and the other is crashing Pacific ocean. It's a humid desert, which was just WEIRD. It was HOT, but also damp because of the water, but little vegetation??? OK... It was beautiful, though.

So, I don't know if I posted it or not, but the trip changed kind of last minute. We had thought it was supposed to be Sunday to Sunday, but it was actually going to be Sat.-Sat. My mom was not arriving until Saturday afternoon, so I had to let D. go ahead of me. He called Saturday night and was fairly sure I'd be happy once I got there the next afternoon.

I had a taxi come at 6:00 to take me to Boston. I always prefer to go from our local NH airport, but for international flights, it's WAY more cost effective to go to Boston. I got there in plenty of time, no lines in security, got some breakfast, and settled in. No problems on that flight - it was a connector into DFW.

Got to DFW so early that there was no open gate for our plane. ;)

Left DFW on time, in my lovely First Class seat. :) Yay for D.'s company's agent on this one. I had a row to myself, some vino, my iPod and a book. Ah, THIS is vacation! :yay: The lunch was even good! :woohoo:

I had prearranged a shared shuttle from the Cabo airport to the hotel - a steal at $30 roundtrip. Well, it's more than ME, but... ;)

My bags arrived, customs was painless, I found my shuttle with no effort, hooray! (Side note: Cabo allows time share companies to set up booths in the area just outside of customs, so you have to run a gauntlet of men asking you to listen to their presentations in order for a free ride to your hotel. It was awkward.)

I arrived at the hotel. D. had called and knew I was coming, but he hadn't gotten to the front desk by the time I arrived. A very nice bellhop took me to the front desk, asked for a key, and brought me one of the better margaritas I've ever enjoyed! Excelente!

D.'s company puts the flight crews in nice hotels, but usually the cheapest rooms. Well, the cheapest rooms in this Hilton were "partial ocean-view, king bed." Not shabby!

Here are the first pictures from our room. It was so humid and the difference between the inside AC and the outside sauna heat led to a lot of moisture on my lens, making for a mistaken, but I think lovely, aura on these pics.

This is the "other" pool. The main pool is an infinity edge, we'll see it later.

The wing next to ours:

Another ocean view from the balcony:

Here's the balcony itself:
Cabo9-6.jpg

The bed. I have to admit that my first thought was "great theming!" before I realized that this wasn't trying to "theme" as in WDW... :rotfl2:
Cabo9-10.jpg

And, looking back toward the door and bathroom area. This room was huge, and does make me kind of laugh as far as WDW's definition of "deluxe." AKL was great, don't get me wrong, but not on this level.
Cabo9-11.jpg

D. was already in swim trunks and so I switched over and we went down to the beach...:beach:

To be continued...

So, we took a walk along the beach. This is total "low" season in Cabo, so it was fairly deserted. The ocean is strong at this point - they have a flag system to let you know if it's safe to be in the water due to currents, but it never left "red" whilst we were there. However, just to the southwest of our hotel was a jut of rocks that allowed for a small protected area. The beaches are national parks - not privately owned by the hotels - but the hotel next door claims this little bay as "the only swimmable beach on the Corridor." We like bobbing in the waves, so we went ahead and went in. Here are the rocks that allowed us to enter without dying:

And here's D.:

And here's the hotel from the beach area:

And here are the waves that made us NOT go in the water anywhere else along the beach:
Cabo9-1.jpg

After some water bobbing and the walk, we retired to the infinity edge pool and some margaritas at the swim-up bar. :) D. was officially working, of course, so he was on call and sober from 8-5 every day. This was well after 5:00, though, so he was able to join me, and we were quite pleased. The pool is never more than 3 1/2 feet deep or so, so the water really felt like a bath!

We headed to the room for a shower and a lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant. I had chicken enchiladas with a mole sauce, and let me tell you, they were delicioso!

OK, so I think I mentioned that this was a down time. The Hilton is a 5 star hotel, apparently, but this was also construction time. There are normally the two swim up bars (both serving lunch), a lobby bar (under renovation and relocated during our stay - normally serves all meals, but had no food service this month), a deli/mini mart, a casual restaurant (under renovation and relocated), a "signature" restaurant (closed, as this is where they put the casual place) and a dinner time steakhouse at one of the pool bar areas. So, this is a pretty self-contained place. D.'s company didn't get the crew a rental car because no one wanted to drive in Mexico. We did find out the next morning that the hotel offered a shuttle service into both towns, but for now, we're eating at the hotel, 'cause we think we're stuck.

I did expect my food for this trip (not on D's expense account, of course) to be reasonable. Ha! Resort pricing, baby. I often wished for the DDP. :rolleyes1 My enchiladas were excellent, but also ran me $27. Sigh. Oh well. The casual restaurant, as I mentioned, was relocated to the signature restaurant's locale, which was right next to the infinity edge pool. Under the stars, a breeze a-blowin', candlelight and my honey... :cloud9:

OK, I'm getting wordy, my show's on, and D's home. I will continue tomorrow! The next bits won't take as long, now that I've introduced you to our hotel and the area, I promise.

CE, That hotel room looks beautiful! The view ain't bad either even with the foggy lens!

What a bummer that the waters weren't safe to swim in but that infinity pool sounds really nice.:cloud9:

I decided to see what all the hubbub was about over here. Seeing as how the majority of my "readers" are members of this elite group!

So, what do you all do over here? :confused3
Is it a secret? :rolleyes1

Mel.....aka Muffinygood

It was, it was... :) I do have a picture of it coming up later, from a breakfast. :goodvibes

I have to say that the service was scarily impeccable. They knew our names. They unfolded napkins into our laps. We had turn down service with snacks - not mints, but full-out snacks, where we could pick "salty, sweet, or surprise" - every night. D. had coupons for 2 free continental breakfast buffets every day, since he has the Hilton rewards card. And the rack room rate was $199. :rolleyes1

Hey Mel! I just joined TFW today as well. This is a chat thread where you can talk about your life/family pretty much anything you want to.

Not bad at all. Rack rate was only $199!

I KNOW! And, keep in mind, the hotel was paid for by D's company... :dance3:

Did someone say they were heading for Vero Beach? Miz? D's stayed there (in the DVC) for work, too, and really liked it, though he felt weird being a single man roaming about a Disney hotel. :lmao:

OK.

I have changed my avatar, oh supreme leader.

And, this is my 1000th post. I felt it only appropriate to do this post on this particular thread. :grouphug:

Love you guys!

:lmao: :rotfl:

Nope, Beauty & the Geek and The Biggest Loser for me.
Well, Jerry is off. It was amazing to see that he had lost 88# even when going back home! (the only bad thing about this show is that I felt a little guilty eating ice cream whilst watching it! )
My lime green baggallini and my lime green crocs are ready to enter the world of Focker Watchers. I hope I can live up to your expert fockerness. :goodvibes

Hey--I actually went to look at some of the rules today! Who knew they existed?? :confused3 I thought the main rule was to not write about your MIL if she had her own screen name!
I'll post some tomorrow as some were interesting....some not so much!

Thx! She was fine today. She said the police ate lunch in the cafeteria which certainly kept things quiet.

Don't slip to Lurker mode too far or we'll track you down!;) ( and we like to talk to you!)

Yes, our motto is "there is nothing :offtopic: " unless it is something that I know nothing about.......and since I know everything, that's not a problem! :rotfl2: ;)

CE: Love the avatar! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Love the pics too--I am gonna read through the neat TR in the morning cause I wanna get the full effect! (and I LOVE free expense trips at the Hilton!!) Somehow I thought you were on an island, so thanks for the geography lesson too!:teacher:

Congrats on 1000!!!! We are always to hear to celebrate each other's milestones!:woohoo:

CE,I love the pictures!:goodvibes Everything looks beautiful and it sounds like you and your DH had some awesome adult time.Looking forward to reading more.

TEminnie,I hate that I missed Biggest Loser.:scared: It is hard for me to see TV shows during football/softball season.:guilty:
Glad DD felt safe today.:goodvibes

Well DS11 survived ,and they even won,his first football game with the "big Boys".:cheer2: He could barely walk when he got home though. He didn't come off of the field at all during the game.

I just wanted to post this 'cause I'm so excited!!!!!
