So...

The twins start kindergarten tomorrow. Woody is NOT sleeping - he seems to be very bothered by the fact that twins are split in our school. I think it's good for them. I'm guilty of comparing skills, so I am sure that so would teachers be. ;) But, they have been in the same room, same teachers, same preschool for 2 years, so it will be different. I got weepy when we put them to bed the first time. :sad2:

Anyway, we put them to bed at 8:00, but now it's 9:36 and Woody is downstairs for the 3rd time, watching the Red Sox with us. Sigh. I know we can't force him, but I'm worried about tomorrow for him, as well as really wanting to be "done" with kids for the night... :rolleyes1

They are supposed to take in "recent pictures of yourself having fun" for the first day, so here are the ones they wanted - taken today, doing what they asked for. Buzz:

Yesterday we spent the day with friends who keep their boat at Newfound Lake in NH. It was actually under 80 for a high yesterday, so we spent the bulk of the day at a state park beach, and only went on the boat for about an hour.

Today, it was a much hotter day, and just the four of us decided to go to another state park - Clough - up the road a bit. Dogs aren't allowed at the state park beaches, but this particular one is actually a dam reservoir, and if you walk to the other side of the lake from the state beach, you can take the dog and there's a nice little peninsula with sand and so forth where dogs are allowed. So, we packed up for just a couple of hours and went there.

This is far away, but you can see D. & the boys on our little inflatable boat, with nice NH scenery behind...

And Linus the dog was SO happy to be included! Here he is with his tennis ball:

We've had a nice couple of lake days, I must say!

Thanks for letting me share - I liked these pics and felt that this was the place to put them. :goodvibes

Just wanted to share my great vacation so far. We were upgraded again. When I checked in the room wasn't ready but the CM said it is now a 2 bedroom villa. SSR is just breathtaking it is more then I ever imagined.

Wow that is so great!!!! I love SSR too:love:

Guess what??

I got a new goat!!!

Oooh!! How cool! So any pics yet TE?

[COLOR="RedAlso I have been sick...so I promise I will be on soon to do some serious sucking Up!!!![/B]

Get well soon DD!
That pre-TR of yours may spiral out of control if your not there to supervise it.

Thanks for sharing those pics of your family CE. Looks like the boys enjoyed their fun time.

Well, DH is on his way to Milan--8 1/2 hour flight to Frankfurt, Germany then 1 1/2 hour to Milan. He will get there Tues am but does not have to work till Wed so that should help.
That's a lot of travelling, hope he's arrived safely :goodvibes And we're glad you're still here

he seems to be very bothered by the fact that twins are split in our school.
Hope he's fine today :goodvibes

They're great photos CE and your lake trips look great, looks like you had lots of fun!

Jess started big school today, she was up at 6am (way too early) and left the house (DH walked with her) at 7.05am to catch the bus, she was nervous but excited all at the same time!

Here she is in her new uniform, the sweater is actually bottle green but it doesn't look that colour :confused3

And in her PE kit

She looks so grown up :sad1: She also has a funny look on her face as she was looking right into the sun!!!

The twins start kindergarten tomorrow.
Ok--we are here for you today!

1. They are in good hands and very safe
2. They are having a great time right now!
3. They will be home soon really hungry and with many neat stories for you!

Even though my girls are older, they change schools a lot with us moving, so the first day is always really hard for me. (As in, I either can hardly eat......or eat everything that's not nailed down!) But they have always come home with tales of meeting new friends and good times!

Oooh!! How cool! So any pics yet TE?
Oh! I'll try and get some today! (since you asked...Noodles is adjusting nicely and Biggins, the horse, seems to tolerate/ignore her now....I have felt on her belly but cannot feel any babies yet......unfortunately, I cannot find out when you are supposed to be able to feel them and they have 4 stomachs so it may be hard to tell. Any goat experts out there, let me know!
Or, am I the goat expert??

That's a lot of travelling, hope he's arrived safely :goodvibes And we're glad you're still here
Thanks! He called just now (it is 2 pm there--6 hours ahead of me) he had an uneventful flight and is checked into his hotel--he said the rooms are really small--it is a Sheraton but the size of a Motel 6 room. He is going to try and stay up and go to sleep on their time tonight.
Sounds hard to me.

the sweater is actually bottle green but it doesn't look that colour :confused3

What is BOTTLE green? The color of a Mt Dew bottle??? Love the pics! It must be chilly there now--my kids are wearing shorts to school and getting out early for the heat. And they wear shorts and a school T-shirt for PE (well, actually BA at 10 years old, just wears her regular clothes and tennis shoes).
AE has school pictures today and is SO worried that running in PE will mess her hair up.

Wow DM! That is really cool! I know how much you like Blake. What is he doing now (obviously touring I guess)

Well, DH is on his way to Milan--8 1/2 hour flight to Frankfurt, Germany then 1 1/2 hour to Milan. He will get there Tues am but does not have to work till Wed so that should help. I don't like it when he is overseas--too far away. And his folks flew to Reno (free trip comped by Harrah's :thumbsup2 ) and his sis and family went to Myrtle Beach.........but don't worry--I'm still here!

We are here to keep you company oh fearless leader:thumbsup2

Hey CE, We are here for you too. My gut tells me that 15 minutes after you drop them off they will be fine:goodvibes Hope all goes well and they regale you with wonderful stories when they get home:goodvibes

CE - I think it's good for the boys to be separated also. It is tough to be compared to another, especially your own sibling. My boys, though not even in the same grade, are competitive. Love picture of the lake!

Jo - The girls look so nice and proper in their uniforms. They seem all excited about it all. I think the PE outfit is funny because it looks very hot! I'll have to post my boys first day of school this coming Thursday.

1 hour ahead of us and yes European hotel rooms are so small compared to US ones but far more expensive :rotfl2:

What is BOTTLE green? The color of a Mt Dew bottle??? Love the pics! It must be chilly there now--my kids are wearing shorts to school and getting out early for the heat.
:rotfl2: No it's a dark green probably like a wine bottle :rotfl2: And it's still just about shorts weather here Jess went in her skirt today, but when she left at 7am she definately needed her sweater!!!

Great pics Jo. How old is Jess again:confused3
She's just turned 11 it sure goes quick!

It's just Jess in her uniform I'll try and post a photo of Ellie in her summer uniform, she doesn't start till tomorrow. And the PE kit is the winter one here's the summer kit but it's soooooo huge yet it was the smallest they stocked  at least I'll get my moneys worth :rotfl2:

Well we got back but almost didn't. Ds got on the plane and was fine and then out of the blue he started to freak out. He was terrified to have the plane take off. It was awful. He yelled and screamed and begged and cried. We were very close to being removed from the plane. The only thing that saved us was that he did not touch the seat belt. I was told if he got out of the seat we would be booted from the plane. His heart was racing and he looked terrified when the plane took off. I am canceling the Christmas trip to NY because of this and the fact that dd doesn't like to fly either. I am also going to drive down next year. I was shaking and crying before it was all over. He never did try to get out of the seat but nothing I said or did would calm him down. I heard one lady talking about it in the airport later and we were most hated by many on the plane. I still have no idea what he was actually so scared of. He just tells me he doesn't like to go on the plane. Other than this it was a perfect trip.

Hope he's fine today :goodvibes

He was still weirded out this morning, but it was OK after school. Plus, it's only half-day kindergarten here, and the "half-day" is even shorter than our preschool was, so it felt like it was over quickly. Tomorrow is the first day on the bus, so we'll have to see how that goes. :rolleyes1

They're great photos CE and your lake trips look great, looks like you had lots of fun!

Thanks! We had a good weekend. :)

Thanks so much, TE. I got oddly weepy last night - I didn't think I would. Then today went so fast - we were supposed to take them in and then just leave them for the last hour (of a 2.5 hour day) and so it was kind of uneventful. But, as I mentioned, we have the first "get on the bus" day tomorrow, which is a little more nerve-wracking. :)

Or, am I the goat expert??

As Jo says, ::yes:: .

Thanks! He called just now (it is 2 pm there--6 hours ahead of me) he had an uneventful flight and is checked into his hotel--he said the rooms are really small--it is a Sheraton but the size of a Motel 6 room. He is going to try and stay up and go to sleep on their time tonight.

The smallest hotel room I ever saw was in Austria. I swear it was the size of a walk-in closet. :rotfl: I'm glad he got there safely! :goodvibes

Hey CE, We are here for you too. My gut tells me that 15 minutes after you drop them off they will be fine:goodvibes Hope all goes well and they regale you with wonderful stories when they get home:goodvibes

Thanks, Janet. One of the problems for Woody was "not knowing anyone" - they did great in the preschool, but it was in a neighboring town, and none of those classmates were coming to our school. However, there had been a kid in preschool the first year when they were 3 who lives in our town, and he was in Woody's class. Both of them said that they didn't make any new friends today, but I have high hopes for tomorrow!

Sorry, DM, I thought I hit you for the multi-quote, but I must have missed. ;)

Yes, as I said, even I am guilty of the comparison, "Buzz reads better, but Woody writes better," and that probably doesn't help anyone. Woody admits that he never did much with Buzz at preschool, so I wasn't sure why he was so concerned with this! :rotfl:

Pssst.... I haven't had a chance to catch up yet, but I'm sneaking in real quick to get the word out - I've started in on my version of all things Lapu. Click here to go straight to my new TR! There's not much there yet, but the promise of lots more to come :thumbsup2

SOunds like the room I had when I was in Stockholm for a business trip.

My prediction is that they will have a ton of friend by the end of the week:thumbsup2

I am actually having the same concerns about Stitch Jimmy next year. He will be moving from the daycare he has been in since he was 4 months old to Pre-K (He misses the Kindergarten cut-off by 1 stinkin day). He will be going to the catholic school and I don't if any of his friends will be going there too. It's kind of awkward to ask someone if they are Catholic and are sending their kids to the Catholic School. KWIM? DOn't want to start a whole religious debate!

I am so glad the day went great and I am sure they will have tons of friends soon.
Disney Jo
Your girls look so nice in the uniforms. The idea of gym uniforms seemed funny to me. When I went to school we wore any old tshirt and shorts. The girl next to me thought it was funny to wear one that said "I'm with STUPID" and the arrow pointed to me.
Princess V
So glad you stopped and put the word out. While I was there last week I kept saying it is so hot we will go later in the year next year. Well we are a whole week later. I couldn't pass up the free dining bounce back.

Jo: Jess looks lovely in her school uniform, she looks very happy to be going back to school.

dreamn Disney: Welcome back. I'm glad ds got better and was able to fly, that must've been scary.

V: You little sneak pimping out your TR. Welcome back by the way!

Well since everyone else is pimping out their TRs. Ahem I started a new one too, it's in my siggie. :rolleyes1

cute pics of the boys. Glad to hear today went well, fingers crossed that the bus tomorrow will go smoothly for you. Im sure it will. I agree that keeping them separately is the way to go. By day 3 they wont even notice they are apart. And that just means more friends for then to play with being in 2 classes.
DS5 starts school Thurs and I am very nervous for him(hes not). This is a new school for him and he will know NOONE. It is only a 1/2 day for us too.
He has severe food allergies and we went to get all his stuff to the school nurse today and I LOVED her and DS5 seemed to like her too.
Tomorrow we meet the teacher.

DISNEYJO
great photos of Jess, hope she enjoyed her 1st day and good luck to Ellie tomorrow, put some pics of her too.

Dang no goat advice......I'm gonna have to find a goat herders support group!

Ok---checking the time:
Me: 8:47 pm
DH: 2:47 am
MIL/FIL: 5:47 pm
Jo: 1:47 am

I'm gonna get those little clocks like at the airport!

So, Jo--I would say Dark Green or hunter green, but I have never said Bottle green!;)

CE--is everything back in the kitchen? Take a final pic for us!:thumbsup2 Glad school went well--my kids had 1/2 day kindergarten too which was fine. She was exhausted in 1st grade for about 3 weeks though!

Yep! One of my friends is in one of the towns here in NH that still doesn't have public kindergarten. She's from Ireland and went her whole life through Catholic schools, but now is pretty atheistic. :) She picked the best private kindergarten for her twins, though - you guessed it, the Catholic school! ;) It just kind of cracks me up, because of how she is... But, I understand that those conversations can get dicey. :) Anyway, I'm sure Stitch will do famously. :) I figured this "oops, wrong town" part out last year, but the preschool program was so good I didn't consider going anywhere else...

By the way, I noticed in your quoting of my original post a glaring, awful grammatical error. I pride myself on editing, so that's sad. :) I'll change the original, but there your quote will be for all to see... :rotfl2: Anyway, sorry, everyone, for making you read my horrible English... :rotfl:

Yes, I'll have to get a picture up. :) D. won't let us "toast the end" yet, though, I guess because he still has some tiles to replace and we also haven't stained the new window frame. I feel like it's done, though! :dance3:
