Hey everyone. I had every intention of trying to catch up but now I just can't. I was sick with a GI illness that wiped me out for a couple of days. Then there was a death of a friend of the family. To top it all off, yesterday we get a call that Rob's uncle was rushed to the hospital and is now on a ventillator. They were waiting for the son to drive in from New Jersey and then they were going to stop life support. Most of the family gathered at the hospital last night. Picture a huge Italian family all there. That was the nicest part of it knowing how much everyone cares. We left the hospital at around 7 pm last night and haven't yet heard if he passed yet. So, 2 funerals coming up.

And my brother's 40th birthday is tomorrow. His wife is throwing him a surprise party on Saturday. Hopefully, everything will work out with timing.

So, I'll be on and off today but mostly I just feel like sitting on the couch and reading. I just wanted to check in with you all. Sorry to bring anyone down. I'm sure I'll be the same old DM you all know and love next week!

DM- I'm sorry you've had such a bad week. We'll be here when we can come visit more.

My little guy has had an up and down battle the past few months. In and out of the hospital and ER. Just lots going on. He hasn't been healthy in a while. But, hopefully, things will begin to look up. Just a challenging time. BUT....the good news is we're planning another trip. Just he and I. Still for Christmas, but I'm not sure meeska will be joining us. SO...back to the DIS I come, to talk all things Disney again!

Well I gave up and went to the grocery store when I returned there was a message to say he was coming tomorrow!!!!!!

It really was. Some of us agree, some don't, but we're still all friends.

Me too So CE what does he exactly do?

It's funny - he won't usually even tell people - say other school parents or whatever - whom he flies for. It's a "security risk". At any rate, it's a large multi-national company and they have 4 planes, and the flight department flies the big wigs so that the guys making beaucoup bucks an hour don't have to waste 3 hours in the airport for international flights. And they can do business on the plane without others overhearing. And the planes are comfy.

The new job would be for a hedge fund company, thus the less stability. IF we are heading to recession, his current job wouldn't go anywhere. A hedge fund company might.

Sorry about Jon's ups and downs! I thought of you and Meeska when I was in FL for Xmas. We stayed at the In-laws and didn't even go to "THE WORLD" while we were there. BUT, DH and I did sneak out one night to Narcoosees and then to the Poly for some LAPU LAPUS.

He was so funny when I told him that the girls on the DIS got matching LAPU tattoos. He thinks we're crazy!

We might go at Xmas this year, but stay in DVC. (NEW MEMBER! )

Anyway, love to you and Meeska. (and Jon and Kaia SP?) Glad to see you!

Well, I'm back from volunteering at school. We are collecting money for the Jamestown trip. So far, only 21 kids have signed up (13 paid) and 15 adults. Now I gotta call the folks who haven't paid.....

I haven't been able to catch up on my subbed trip reports or work on mine because I have been...well sad.I want to go so badly and it will probably be years before I get back.Last night Rachel asked if we could go for her bday(March) and burst into tears when I told her no.

Move update:
OK. D just called from the gym, as he'd gotten off the phone with M again. He was very talkative and in the mood for sharing, which was good.

He's going to definitely go down and see M whilst he's in Vero Beach next weekend - probably even staying over Sunday night to watch the Super Bowl. He'll take a resume down, but he told M not to "hold" the job for him. He said he felt too on the fence to be interviewing now. He told M that he couldn't think of anyone he'd rather work for, and if the job was in the Midwest we'd be packing.

M was totally understanding and did say that his company does hope to get another plane ordered in the next few months. They build these planes on order, though, so it would probably be about a year before they actually had it in their possession. At that point, they will be hiring again, and M definitely wants D to think about that time frame.

In the meantime, D will have seen the area, and he mentioned us going over that way "when we're down there" (side YIPPEE as he must be planning on August!) so that I could see it, too.

D can also see if things get better at his current job, or stay the same or get worse. He mentioned one of the current people in particular - if he were to be promoted to M's old job (they haven't filled it in 9 months, and D is most senior but doesn't know that he would want it as he's stressed enough as it is) D would start getting ready to go, as he really dislikes this guy and would see it as an indication of the bosses not getting what's going on with most of the rest of the pilots.

Also in the meantime we're going to make a good concerted effort to finish up the projects on the house and get it in a better sale condition.

Although I was kind of inexplicably ready to go, this makes sense to me too. It's not a "never", it's taking steps to move on if necessary, but more slowly. And I'm very happy to know what D's thinking, and to not stress about it any more right now.

So, thanks once again for being here for me to talk to and bounce things off and vent. All y'all are the greatest.
