We lived in Oklahoma City for almost 7 years and tornados were a way of life there. I loved trying to chase them down.

O.K... I HAVE TO KNOW... do Tornado Chasers do it for the "Rush" :confused3
Or are they just Nuts:crazy2:

Yes ..... to both :upsidedow

I went because they are really beautiful ...... from a distance. The destruction is awful and I always hoped no would get hurt but they are magnificent to watch out in the open. There is so much more than just a funnel to this weather phenom.

OK I guess I am going dyslectic... I thought at first you said S & M...

Oh yea, I like that too. :rolleyes1

Leaving in a few to go out and eat with my brother and SIL. They want to do some bar hopping. Doug can't stay up past 9PM. He gets way too tired and crabby past that. If I'm having fun, I'll just send him home without me.

Have fun. Be careful! :goodvibes

If you draw a straight line between the locations of the two deaths, it crosses right over my dad's house. I am almost numb.

 That's a terrible thought.

I had a nice dinner with my BIL. He made grouper and baked potatoes. I brought the wine. :rolleyes1 My little Reid looks like a little boy and not a baby anymore! :sigh:

Have you ordered anything yet? :confused3

I def need to look into it, its decent prices. We are currently searching out Rosa Regale sparkling red wine that we had in Italy in Epcot this trip- its crack!

It is raining, snowing, sleeting and WINDY!!! I had to walk about 1/4 mi to get to the store, my umbrella blew INSIDE out!!! It's terrible. Really.

Jeez it's like 60 degrees here and africa (NOanimalkingdom) hot in here! we actually had our A/C on today! Quick come visit!

Poor KC had a long bad day working from home today! SO i left him home for a while so he could concentrate and did some shopping. It's funny that the idea of a secret santa came up because I was thinking when I was shopping about you all and how I found stuff you'd love!

I got my aunt and uncle some Lenox angel ornaments and they were only $15! I got some soccer ball ornaments for us, a purse for me (KC just said "I don't wanna see it") and some Christmas cards. I almost bought myself a Jim Shore Tinkerbell but the store wanted more than what it should be (I have seen it for less) so I didn't do it. Now we are cleaning up some and then he's gonna game while I DIS.

No one answered me about coming to NYC to see the tree!!!
ANYONE???

So what if Red Lobster isn't real seafood to you? I liked it. :snooty: You guys probably think Taco Bell is Mexican food. :scared:

Dawn, I hope you didn't take offense at my comments. I haven't eaten at a Red Lobster but once, and it wasn't very good. I grew up literally steps from the ocean so I think I'm sort of a seafood snob.
Anyhow, I didn't mean anything offensive by it. I love food, period!

We went to M and S for dinner. The weather stayed pretty miserable the whole drive down there. I had a lovely glass of Reisling and Bob had a Merlot. We shared an appetizer of calamari which was fried (perfectly! in the lightest breading) and served with 3 dips. A citrus marmalade, a sherry/mayo type sauce and a cocktail sauce. That was really good.
Bob ordered the cashew crusted MahiMahi. It came with a pineapple/mango salsa on top (which he was mad about because it had onions which he hates) and rice and green beans. His beans looked SO good but he didn't eat them! Bad Bob!
I had the scallops. They were pan-seared with a spicy crab gratin on top (which was sort of fishy IMO) and sauteed onions, peppers and rice on the side.

This was our first trip to M and S. Here's my take. The service, atmosphere and quality of ingrediants was really good. The prices were a bit steep (my dinner and Bob's were each almost 30 bucks and they didn't come with a dinner salad or soup!) and it sort of bugged me that they only brought one tiny chunk of bread to the table with our appetizer. It was about the size of two packs of cards. To share??? I know that's sort of splitting hairs but it irked me. Also, she didn't bring water till we asked. And my real gripe is about the meal. WHY does a 30 dollar meal come with essentially a piece of fish and an ice cream scoops worth of rice??? A potato, a french fry, something.....if you aren't giving me a dinner salad than a little tiny piece of fish and a scoop of rice is NOT going to do it. Oh well....

Bob ordered a dessert trio which had a creme brule, a molten choc. cake and a mini banana cream pie. They were all delish.

The check was $115. I know that we had meals in Disney that were about that much, but it's ALOT to spend on just a Sat. date night. I didn't mind as it was my Bday dinner (Bob will be gone for my bday) but I don't think we'll be back unless it's a SPECIAL occasion.

Hope you guys had a great night!

MEL

Oh, of course not, Mel. I wish we did have decent seafood here. :sad2: I'll get it when we go to the beach next summer. :woohoo:

Katt- I'm doing the secret santa thing. :thumbsup2

Dudes - California is on fiyah!!! :scared1:

This is the closest the fires have ever been to us. It's a bit scary, actually. I can see the orange glow of the hills on fire.

We've been stranded in the house all day, as the air quality is horrible! Poor Evan - he's going buggy! He cannot handle being cooped up. I hope it gets better before dawn - the devastation is so sad. So many homes lost. :guilty: And not the cheap ones! The million dollar homes are burning. :faint:

Anyway, just thought I'd check in - send us some moist weather mojo, peeps! Nighty night! :flower3:

Glad you are safe. My kids would be going crazy, too.

I was just popping in to see how far behind I was, and now I'm :scared:. We're having a pretty busy Saturday. Just got home with DD8 from a birthday party at a Build-a-Bear. I decided to introduce her to Godiva truffles on the way out of the mall; I think she may have a new favorite food. :cloud9:

Were you at Northpoint? I was shopping in that area today, but did not go into the mall. We went to TRU and Joann's, then went to Trader Joe's.

We watched Kung Fu Panda today. I didn't care for it.

S'late - glad your kid are okay.:scared1:

I have been thinking about you all day.

T, I've been watching the fires on tv. So scary. I know what you mean about the air quality. When there were fires up I95, we could smell the smoke all the way down here.

:faint:

Well I'm home from my Dad's, we had a nice night out although I nearly fainted when my cousin said the taxi home was booked for 1am :rotfl: I also came home with a ton of Emmas clothes, tops, capris, skirts etc so that's saved me tons of money :thumbsup2

T stay safe

Just a quikie
I was checking to see if T was doing ok with those horrible fires.
I see she checked in and they are close.

No, it was the crazy married/divorced/remarried/possibly swinging "friends" we knew when we lived in TX. They live in MN now. I am unsure as to exactly where.
I wonder if they are MY neighbors?;) We have a couple who have been rumored to have asked to swap with other neighbors.:confused3 I really try to not listen to the rumble, until I hear it first hand. So who knows if it is true.

Smart lady! Shopping in NY. Fun, Fun!

We went to M and S for dinner...
The check was $115.
M & S is super yummy! I agree a titch steep in price. M & S grill is supposed to be a titch less pricy. Same quality, lesser price. I only speak from friends accounts. :)
Dudes - California is on fiyah!!! :scared1:
Stay safe! I wasn't sure how far you were from the fires.

We have watched the news for the past few days. I have family who's homes were threatened Thursday PM. It is some scary stuff. I feel for them, since they almost lost their home a few years back when Malibu was on fire.

Hey Dawn- Those little cheesy biscuits that Red Lobster has are yummo! Tastefully Simple is selling very similar biscuits this season. They too are YUMMO!
