I got jury duty once and called to tell them I had child care issues. The lady was hesitant to release me but when I told her I was 7 months pregnant she took my name off the list for the next 5 years!

I was summoned once. My twins were just babies. I just wrote back that I was a SAHM and was excused. I wonder if the following will work:

1. Homeschool
2. SAHM
3. Children are out of school
4. I have moved to another county
5. I plan to commit a felony soon
6. I am a sole prop; if I don't work, I don't get paid and don't eat

That would be great slate!:thumbsup2

I'll take the lead then. Send me your name and address to: kmb0694@gmail.com. Note this is not my usual email; I didn't want to plaster my name all over the DIS. Anyhow, let me know if you would like to participate in the:

card exchange
gift exchange
ornament exchange
after Christmas White Elephant/unwanted/tacky gift exchange

Shall we say all signs ups by 11/26?

Rules:
Card exchange: no rules really. Anyone?
Gift exchange: Does $7 before shipping sound ok? Other than needing to agree on the $ amount, just please no junk or used items. In your email, let me know what you like/dislike, if you would like or not prefer homemade gifts and if you are willing to ship to UK or Canada.
Ornamant: same as above except $5 before shipping.

I would suggest that gifts and ornaments are shipped by 12/18.

For the unwanted gift exchange, shall we say sign up by 12/25 and ship by 1/2?

:wave: Good-night Mr. T.

I pity the foo'!

:lmao: Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that when I read it

I'll have to ask Mrs. T about the mohawk next time I go in for a hair cut. :scared: DS6 wants one. We could be quite a pair.

On the jury duty issue here in Atlanta, I think they typically let all primary care givers with at least one child under 5 a pass.

Anyway, I'm off to the office after a late start at the gym. Catch y'all later.

I wonder if number 5 would result in a stake out outside my house. :laughing:

I always wind up getting out of jusry duty. I usually know the judge or the DA prosecuting the case! My job does work in my favor sometimes:thumbsup2 For civil cases...a little tip. If they are talking about "soft tissue injuries" always tell them unless you can see the injury on an xray, MRI, CT scan etc. it doesn't exist. The plaintiffs attorney will dismiss you immediately. That is your public service announcement for the day;)

I am SO in.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

GOod Morning all. I am at work and all the bosses aren't:cool1:

I'm in for the Christmas Cards. I have some addy's but need more.

What are everyone's plans for the weekend? It is supposed to be 70 here tomorrow, but it is going to rain:headache: I have to see if I can get Jimmy in for a haircut. Tomorrow is my nephews 21st birthday party but that isn't until 4:00. I am thinking of taking Jimmy to the movies while Jim does some painting before the party.

Check in later.

I've got a busy weekend...we're off to see Dniece14 in a play tonight, then tomorrow we're off to NYC to see Shrek the musical and check on my mother's family's graves (oh, and see her cousin).

Good Morning Peeps! :wave2:

I just skimmed the last 2 pages, so forgive me if I missed anything uber importante! :flower3:

BUT, I'm a YES on the cards and YES on the secret elf! :santa:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're having a sleep over tonight - my nephews are coming over per Evan's request. He loves having the boys over.
I've got to head over to the Brownie council office this morning - and then it's a pretty relaxed day. :faint: Thank GOD!
I'll check in later and hope some of you will be here tonight for some cocktails and chat en espanol! ;)
Have a great Friday! :goodvibes
then tomorrow we're off to NYC to see Shrek the musical .
Let me know how you like it! My girlfirend and her DH are taking their kids to see it the Friday after Thanksgiving. Jimmy wasn't a big fan of the movies, so I think we may pass on this one.
No joke - that stuff is like freaking crack! :hyper:
They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. ;)
:lmao:
Good Morning Peeps! :wave2:
:wave:
I'll check in later and hope some of you will be here tonight for some cocktails and chat en espanol! ;)
I'll be here, becasue Jim will be painting, but the only Spanish I know is
Mi zapatos are negro...and the only reason I know this is becasue it is the only thing Jim remembers from 4 years of high school spanish!
UGH.
Just got a major dose of reality... add me to the list of "worried homeowners." Wells Fargo is offering a percentage discount for employees of my employer right now, so I gave them a ring to see what kind of interest rate they could get me for a refi. See, I got a balloon mortgage on my condo at 5.375% and balloon payment due at the end of 8 years. I never thought I'd want to stay longer than that, but the place has grown on me and I'll need to refi.
Verdict from Wells... fahgeddaboutit. No way. No how. No mortgage for you. Despite the fact that I easily make my payments every single month - often plus more toward principle - and the fact that I'm stable in every way, they won't touch it because the value has gone down so much thanks to the umpteen foreclosures and short sales in FL.
I honestly think it'll be okay; my mortgage mandates that the existing lender must offer me the option to refi at the end of the balloon payment if I so choose and I don't see anything about them being able to say "never mind" based on falling values. But it's got me worried, nonetheless. :worried:
NEver heard of them Jo!:confused3
Good, that's what I was hoping :rotfl2:
QUESTION FOR EVERYONE (if you dont mind)
How do you all have time to DIS??
I'm on my laptop mainly in the evenings when everyones watching TV, I'm in the same room so it's not like I'm totally ignoring them :rotfl2:
JO-when does the new "mom" info get psoted on the site.Cant wait to see your video and bio
We take over in January so I would assume then :thumbsup2
No, but I can look if you want.
No that's fine, I wanted to take something to WDW with me that they can't get there!
so are you going to have time to golf while you're in florida??
Nope there won't be any time!!!!
yep, you're a vip now!!!
:rotfl2:
Jo, I believe the Cadbury Quality Street is sold up here.
Lessa the Roses are by Cadburys, Quality Street are made by Nestle!
So, Hi Everyone!!!
Hi Z!
Yep, you read it right. I got pulled over for speeding in a school zone!!!!!!
Whoops, glad they let you off!
So guess what I got in the mail today??
A Disney PIN!!!!!!!
Wooohoooo and booooo
I saw the post on the Mom's panel training. That is just so cool! :cool1: I hope you have a blast!
Thanks, it should be a once in a lifetime experience :thumbsup2
Holy cannoli, Jo! I looked up your chocolates and Amazon sales a 6 pack of the Quality ones for $89.:scared1: I found the roses for $35. They both say they are from England.
:eek: A tin sells here for about £5 which is about $7.50
Wow you lot have been chatty, I played golf again today and then David and I went for a walk before picking up Ellie from school, he's enjoying working from home as he can get it all done and then have time off quicker than being in an office :thumbsup2
The girls and I are off to my Dad's tomorrow, Emma is driving us up there as we're going out for a meal and drinks with our cousins. Dad is taking the girls to a conker party whatever one of them is :confused: Goodness knows what Em and I have in store as they've booked a minibus and everything and you know how much I drink :rotfl:
but the only Spanish I know is
Mi zapatos are negro...and the only reason I know this is becasue it is the only thing Jim remembers from 4 years of high school spanish!
LOL! I will always know zapatos because on my first Spanish test we had to write out the Spanish word for the letters of the alphabet. I put zapato for Z. :laughing:
Why are you shoes black? Did you step in caca? :rotfl:
:rotfl2: I remember when my DD got a jury summons and the twins were like 18 months and it said babysitting issues not an excuse .She freaked I told her take them with you you'll see how quick it is an excuse!!:lmao: Luckily she wasn't chosen to even show up, but I really wanted her and the Twins to show up to show them how stupid the no excuse for babysitting issues was !! I mean if they said childcare provided, but what do they think a SAHM is going to do with the kids !!
I know! My kids were, I think, 4 at the time. So I would have had issues with getting them to and from preschool, added to the fact that my only babysitter is a high school girl, so she isn't available during the day, my family all lives 1100 miles away, my DH is a pilot with no set schedule... I was immediately excused. ;)
You know, I still dream that my high school gym teacher calls and tells me I didn't really pass PE and that I have to return to high school to finish. :confused3 I have the teeth dreams, too. But now it's mostly alligators in my house.
Oh, no! On both the PE and the alligators!
Well, we made it through the pizza party. No one cried. No one got hurt. And no one threw up. All good.
Thank goodness, you can't ask for more than that!
I thought I might go to a movie too but I'm not sure. It's supposed to be a record high today so maybe I should be outside before the cold front comes Sunday! :)
Ooh, now I am jealous.
My pants are too big and my shoes are too tight today. I'm feeling all askew. Hate that. :confused:
:hug:
When I had it, the judge was like, there are no excuses to get out of jury duty. Don't even try. I'll say no, blah, blah, blah. Thankgoodness I had no excuse. Except my job wouldn't pay me the difference so I had to live on $11 a day for 2 weeks, and pay to park downtown. :rolleyes:
Fun, fun.
The concert was fun last night. I ate my first real meal in 2 weeks. Scallops, shrimp and asparagus. Yummy!
It was nice to get to talk to each other. Kirt's work stuff is so wacked out, I swear. He's not worried about his job, but he's having to cut people left and right. It's hard on him. He deserves a Disney trip! ;)
Glad you had fun!
GOod Morning all. I am at work and all the bosses aren't:cool1:
Woohoo!
What are everyone's plans for the weekend? It is supposed to be 70 here tomorrow, but it is going to rain:headache:
We're supposed to warm up a little, too. We will do our normal pizza and a movie tonight. My aunt comes in tomorrow, but not until late afternoon. We'll probably pick her up and have an early dinner out.
Sunday, Buzz has a birthday party to attend (gee, I'd better buy a present...) and then I did tell D I'd go pick him up in Boston to save another $95 cab ride. He gets in around 4:45. So, there's plenty to do without feeling overwhelmed. :thumbsup2
I don't mind organizing the exchanges unless someone has already volunteered.
Sounds good!
Hiya, T. I plan on some vino esta noche, so hopefully I'll catch you!
Have a good day!
Oh, V. I'm sorry. But, as you said, it should work out. :hug:
Wow you lot have been chatty, I played golf again today and then David and I went for a walk before picking up Ellie from school, he's enjoying working from home as he can get it all done and then have time off quicker than being in an office :thumbsup2
How'd your golf go? :) Who'd you play with/against? Where'd you go on your walk?
Oh, my! I still think drunk Jo would be a hoot! ;) Have fun, and yeah, what IS a conker party? Sounds, well, British. :rotfl:
****************************************
Hi, all.
I did my volunteering and now I've just been messing. I need to leave in about 15 minutes for my tennis, and also change into appropriate attire, but I'm feeling lazy with the weather.
I just got off the phone with D, no new news from the investigators. :confused3
I really, really should have been prepping my guest room instead of being on the phone and then DISing, but hey, she doesn't come until late tomorrow, right? :rotfl2:
Have a good afternoon (evening, Jo!) and I'll be back later!
Jo,,that sounds like a good time!! :dance3: I`m with CE..Whats a CONKER party? :goodvibes
V! I have to chime in on your situation with Wells Fargo. We have had them for a long time now. and they are terrific with any issues! if we were with any other mortgage company we would have lost our house 3 times over. :guilty: but they have always worked with us with payment plans and repayments ,and a few re-fis in there. I love them! From my experiance you have nothing to worry about..:hug:
I`m in for the Exchanges!! :banana: I`ll e-mail Slate my info...
Off to do the dishes and hit the gym. :cheer2:
V, Wells Fargo is in big doo-doo financially. They have taken a HUGE hit with the foreclosures and are struggling to stay afloat. I'm kind of surprised that they are offering anything to anyone, but it seems they are looking for stellar credit scores and TONS of extra cashola to cover the bills. I wouldn't worry too much. If you're really curious, check with another lender. But until Paulson works out his 700 billion dollars and how he plans to dole it out, I don't think any lenders are in a big hurry to loan.
Until then, :hug:
That's good to know. My current mort. isn't with WF - I'm with Coutnrywide. But my HELOC is with WF.
Thanks Kate. That's kind of what I've been thinking, too. In another 6 months, things may well be running more smoothly and lenders will be willing to well, lend again. I'm also thinking why would Countrywide want to foreclose on a condo they won't be able to sell when they've got someone in it willing to pay a higher interest rate and continue making payments for 30 years more?
